10 Dallas Restaurants That Give You the True ‘Local’ Experience | Eater

"Dallas might be a landlocked city, but that doesn’t mean locals can’t enjoy some high-quality seafood. Rex’s Seafood & Market’s kiosk at the Dallas Farmers Market offers everything from raw Gulf oysters to crisp crawfish hushpuppies with raspberry chipotle dipping sauce to blackened redfish with lemon caper butter. Rex’s farmers market location features tables where you can enjoy your fresh fish with a Pepsi, and if you feel inspired to prepare a seafood feast at home, you can buy fish, shellfish, dips, and soups to-go." - Taylor Tobin

Where to Eat the Best Crawfish in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"Rex’s has live crawfish available by the pound at both locations, although it notes prices are higher and supply is lower than normal after this terrible season. Boiled crawfish is available at its Farmer’s Market location." - Courtney E. Smith

Came here for lunch while visiting the farmer's market. I was really surprised how good the fish and chips was. But the fish was really tender and tasty. Oyster were tasty and they give you a mix from different locations. I also liked the redfish and sweet potato fries. Not a lot of seating as the place was very busy but the servers do come bring the food to your table even if you are eating outside. Seating area is shared with other restaurants and and is in the walk through area between other stores.

Google
Rex’s Seafood and Market was a little disappointing. I may need to stick to the other location on NW Hwy. I had a better experience there. The stand is located near an entry/exit door. Therefore, it gets a little warm sitting there to eat at the picnic style tables. This review covers two separate visits. The first visit, I went during happy hour. I had the Ceviche and a Frose. Keep in mind that I eat Ceviche often. I feel like I have a good grasp of what good ceviche looks and tastes like. Their version did not measure up. I’m used to it arriving tableside looking picturesque. That was not the case. I didn’t taste much lime. The Siracha sauce was over powering the other flavors. The shrimp were small also. The frose was hard to drink. I usually like it but it was kind of bitter. My second visit I had the Lobster Roll. Again, I’ve tried a few, and this one was decent. It seemed to have a piece of claw meat on top and the rest was shredded. I wanted Connecticut style but they didn’t ask me. The lobster was tender and the bread was soft. Not bad , but not great. The fries were super salty. Overall, I rate the sandwich a 3 but the restaurant a 2. If you want a quick Lobster Roll while at the Farmers Market, check out Rex’s Seafood & Market.

Will return. The French Open is on their four tv monitor (the last match of the day - well past 10 pm in Paris: Džumhur v Alcaraz), so we stopped for a drink. Counter service by a few energetic young people, professional and proficient. They grind their own horseradish, which is great - it tastes so so good. Three kinds of oyster we tried: Great White of MA: light Birch Point of ME: flavorful - our favored Irish Point of PEI: they’re good (Prince Edward Island) We’d have more but can’t - have an Italian dinner at 6, and we’ve to go. Does the increasing efficient shipping service makes it possible for anyone to realize their dream business - Dallas, and Texas in that matter is a landlocked region. But what do I know. … Alcaraz won in four, on his second match point, near 5pm Dallas time. I’d think Friday evening is a hopping time in the city but it feels dead, the mall is pretty empty. Where’s everyone? Or it’s too early for everybody -:) - my first full day in Dallas. Wishing everyone with a desire to succeed in a biz the best of luck.

Google
I was quite impressed by the staff and quality of food. My wife had been looking for THE crab bisque and Rex's Seafood Delivered. And their key lime pie, oh my goodness!! It was absolutely delectable.

Google
I ordered the sushi grade Ahi Tuna with spinach and mixed vegetables. I gotta say, for 20$ this was well worth it!! The tuna was seared perfectly and the vegetables were seasoned really good too! I liked the spinach a lot, I personally think I might have had a bit too much lemon, but it was also topped with Parmesan, and made garlic too!

Google
So surprised how bad this location of Rex is. We had dinner at the uptown location once (during the pandemic) and we loved their food. This location is on a totally different level (underground level). We got the salmon burger. The patty tasted like blended and fried mussels..... I could only take one bite and had to throw it away. The fries I got with it were just okay. The ceviche was at least edible but Mediocre.

Google
Perfect in on out sea food spot. Service is quick! Lobster rolls are delicious and coleslaw is not over done. Price is reasonable too!

Google
I ordered the red fish and bacon sandwich with sweet potato fries. The fish and the bacon was overcooked. The bun burnt and the fries soggy. What a waste of money. I took one bite and couldn't stomach it. Nasty.

Yelp
The food was poor and the service was pretty slow and unremarkable. We ordered frose, shrimp cocktail, 6 oysters, lobster grilled cheese and bacon wrapped scallops. The shrimp and frose were the only things that were actually good. Everything was very expensive too. The lobster grilled cheese was a huge disappointment. There was hardly any cheese- it was actually more like a regular sandwich than a grilled cheese...It also had avocado on it which i thought was weird and not needed. I'm someone who loves avocado it just wasn't needed with the lobster. The lobster itself was dry and tasted old. I actually had to ask for some butter to make it better. The butter actually helped a ton and they should have just served it that way. The sandwich also came out already cold and just really underwhelming. It came with a side of fries and they were 10 times better than the sandwich. The bacon wrapped scallops were also a disappointment. They are very expensive so that was a bummer. You get 3 large scallops for $18. I also didn't know they would be served with a cream sauce. First of all, scallops are so mild that between the sauce and the bacon you couldn't taste it. I had to take the bacon off and eat it separately so i could taste the delicate scallop. I could see them being cooked together but don't eat them together. Also the spinach on the plate was just weird. Poor presentation. I'm honestly surprised with how busy this place is with how poor the seafood is. The oysters were also unpleasantly salty- way too much brine. This was our first time having new england oysters and they were not pleasant. We love the hama hama oysters from the pnw. Some mignonette sauce would have helped the oysters as well. I dont know if dallas just doesn't have or know good seafood, but this is not it. The food is crappy and over priced.

Yelp
Clean place, friendly staff. Came for the oyster $2 Happy Hour special...delicious. Not crowded during the week , easy parking .

Yelp
My wife and I had stopped here for lunch while visiting the market. My wife had the COD fish tacos and really enjoyed them. I had the salmon burger with fries, I didn't like the salmon burger much, it was very charred and had a bad burnt flavor that had a bad aftertaste. I will try eating here again the next time we are at the market, just something different.

Yelp
This was our first time here. I didn't realize that it was inside the farmers market, which was an awesome surprise because we had out of town visitors with us. It's a really nice spot with a bar. Just go up to the counter and order food, take the number and put it on your table. They'll bring the food to you. I had the lobster roll. That was delicious. The lobster was juicy and the roll itself was soft, fluffy and buttery. I wasn't too much of a fan of their Manhattan clam chowder, but everything else was solid. The only thing is trying to find a seat if this place is busy, but people will happily let you sit next to them.

Yelp
I was skeptical when daughter #2 suggested we eat here. Pleasantly surprised at the quality of seafood. Gulf oysters were big and briney. Really enjoyed my redfish BLT. Not overly overpriced considering the location. Service was meh.

Yelp
It's a seafood restaurant located in the Dallas Farmer Market. We seldom eat oysters but wanted to give it a try cause there are a lots of people were eating oyster in this place. We asked the staff to help us pick her favorite oysters. It's ard $3.50 per oyster. It's amazing. The oysters have pretty fresh taste (the bad oysters will have a bad fishy taste...) even my bf who hates oyster (because of the taste) said this is the best oyster he had!

Yelp
This is a great spot to grab something to eat while at the market especially if you like seafood. They have a good menu with a variety of options and they serve brunch too which is a plus. I wasn't too crazy about the crawfish hushpuppies because I didn't really like the raspberry chipotle sauce. The crab cake sandwich was good and a really great portion for the price. The service was quick and friendly! The bar was busy (it was Sunday) so there was a wait to sit at the counter. I enjoyed the open space and being in the market, really fun and relaxing vibe!

Yelp
I ordered their fish and chips, which was a solid choice. Fish was fried well with a good crunch. The fries were soft and thin with barely any season, so a little underwhelming. However, the grits made up for it. My friend ordered their soup special lobster bisque and it was also very good! Would def come back and try more of their dishes!
google avatar

Izzie P.

Yelp
Serve was fast. Busy place, but never felt "unattended too". Food was AMAZING. we got a 1/2 dozen of Gulf oysters which were fresher than can be. My exact words when I took a bite of the crab cake were "this is exactly what I need in my life". The favor, texture, crisp outside. It was perfect. The pickles on the BLT were the best pickles I've had in my entire life. Overall it was quick and delicious, couldn't ask for anything more.

Yelp
My husband and I were able to grab a seat at the bar. They had a few different draft beer selections, including a bishop cider. My husband and I ordered six raw oysters and some ceviche. The oysters were small and ran $3 per oyster. The ceviche was flavorful and came with chips for scooping. Overall the food was good and enjoyed the selection of seafood options.

Yelp
Fantastic seafood! First place I've been to that actually labeled the oysters. I had the Halibut special, which was fantastic, but not photogenic. My friend had the Tuna Burger. The combo of Avocado and slaw was outstanding. We arrived close to close and they were definitely cleaning, but the staff was friendly and the food is Top Notch.

Alexis N.

Yelp
This place is really fresh and nice! I do wish the location would be a little different. I didn't expect it to be inside a food court area. Seatings are limited because it's a lot of people. But the food and service is great! highly recommend to try out the raw oysters and the lobster roll/Connecticut style sandwiches ! :) (here's some pictures I've took down below!)

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place because it always seems busy and popular at the farmers market, but I was so disappointed. I ordered the fish and chips during lunch on a weekend, so they were definitely busy but the food came out fast. I guess because they were busy they must not have been paying attention to the oil temp. My fish and chips both were pretty oily and not crispy, which happens when the oil temp gets too low. There was also very little salt on the dish. The place isn't cheap either, so it was a huge disappointment. I honestly may give the place another shot though when I'm in the mood for some oysters. Looks like they have a pretty good selection.

Yelp
Came to the Dallas Farmer's Market and had to stop by Rex's Seafood Market after seeing everyone crowding around their bar. We weren't too hungry, so decided to stop by and grab a few small plates. Here is what we ordered: Sweet Potato Fries $3: I originally did not want these, but after seeing it on someone else's plate, I decided to give it a try. This was only $3 and the portion as well worth the price! These were very crispy on the edges and had the perfect about of seasoning. I would definitely get these again! Fried Calamari $14: These were very crispy. Some were too thin that it was dry but others were light and chewy. The lettuce mixed in made it a bit soggy, but the marinera was a plus! Overall, I would want to revisit and try some of their main dishes. If these were just the sides, I can't imagine how good the main dishes would be.

Yelp
It was our first time visiting the farmer's market (we live in Austin) and I was looking forward to trying this seafood place so bad since they have various of fresh oysters and other seafood as well! You can go up to the counter to place an order, take the number and place it on the table you sit. If you sit at the bar, you don't necessarily need to, you can just have a seat and they'll take order for your drink and food. We loved that they had interesting (good interesting!) beer selection, although we're stout or wheat beer people, so didn't get many options, but anyway their beer was really good. We also got fresh oysters and 3 kinds of seafood tacos, the oysters were super fresh and flavorful, for tacos,, I've had better, but they were good enough! It's located in the farmer's market, so you can enjoy the busy, exciting vibes which we loved a lot!
google avatar

Yolanda H.

Yelp
I ordered the fish and chips to-go. The order includes 3 pieces with fries and a side. I chose cole slaw as my side. The order just okay. The taste was over powered by the oil used for frying. The Cole slaw was bland. I will not order either item again. However I will go back and try other things from the menu.

Yelp
The BEST RAW OYSTERS IN DALLAS. Barnone!!! I cheated on Rex's and went to S&D 2 days ago because I missed Happy Hour and wanted to be cheap, but I struggled to keep the S&D oysters down because I'm spoiled at this point. I come here 2-3 times a week during happy hour for the $2/each oyster special, and it's so amazing. At Rex's they have PEI, MA, RI. NB, and even Pacific oysters imported fresh daily. I am so addicted, I keep track of the best ones with picture's because I'm addicted. The boomamoto are the best, but there are so many standouts and will update this review with them later. My pictures are actually from different visits because l really do come here all the time. (Some days I ask for specific oysters, some days I just ask for meaty with low sea smell.) You could literally plan a geographic visit up north just by following the origin of the oysters. I always ask for mignonette or sassy sauce or Worcestershire sauce or all of the above. I dress them up or down. Crackers, hot sauce (multiple varieties). You will absolutely love the set up, staff, vibe, everything. Oh and the rest of the menu is amazing, too. Gumbo, scallops, crawfish, THE CRAWFISH, the grits, THE GRITSSSSSSSS...highly recommended.
google avatar

Frank S.

Yelp
Picture this... was walking the booths at the farmer's market, the temperature had dropped to only 37 degrees, and the wind from the north was picking up. I walked into the pavilion seeking warmth, and in front of me was Rex's seafood. Wait, it gets better. After looking over the menu I'm about to order and out of the corner of my eye I see their specials of the day. Making my way down the list, as if sent from heaven, is "Steamer Bowl". Well that sounds great on a cold day, is it what I think it is? No way, it is! And, for only $18? Within 10 minutes I had a huge bowl of muscles, clams and crab claws in a steaming hot broth of lemon and butter with fresh chopped onions, peppers and garlic. This feast was accompanied by toasted and buttered sourdough bread that was great for dipping. Everyone around me was amazed, and with perhaps even a though of jealousy, that they hadn't ordered the Steamer Bowl. I was so delighted with my food that I double tipped the waitress and even sent money back for the cook. Thanks for being the perfect restaurant with the perfect dish to delight and warm my soul on this cold cold day!

Yelp
Food was fresh and delicious! Though you order at the counter - they do bring food and drinks to your table. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I ordered a couple of glasses of wine but we changed our minds and asked if we could update our order. The bartender was very nice about it - even though she had already poured the glasses. We offered to pay for both - but they would not let us! Don't worry - we left a very nice tip! This location is inside the Dallas Farmer's Market giving it a fun, energetic vibe. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Came to the market for the first time! They have multiple restaurants and shops all in a open style warehouse. The Rex Seafood is one of them. It's near the entrance of the market. They offer seafood and I had the lobster roll. They serve it with melted butter and a side. The lobster serving is very generous and the bread is soft and tasty! I came during lunch time so I didn't have wine with it but they have a great wine list!

Yelp
We found Rex's by chance and I am so glad we did! I forget to check in the day we went too, so there's that. Rex's is located inside the Dallas Farmers Market. We took a seat at the bar and were helped immediately. Kaitlin (I don't know if I spelled your name right so my bad if it's wrong) was a phenomenal server! She ensured we had everything that we needed. What we ordered and loved: -Crawfish Hushpuppies -Blackened Redfish BLT -BBQ Shrimp Pizza -Froze Everything we ordered was so tasty! Piping hot, very flavorful, and fulfilling. We left feeling extremely satisfied. The blackened redfish BLT is served with fries. The crawfish hushpuppies came with a raspberry chipotle sauce and wow the shit is amazing! I highly recommend checking this place out. 10/10 recommend. We also got froze drinks to go, it was a hot ass day. Anyway, don't say I didn't tell yall. Very welcome.

Yelp
came during happy hour and got their $2 oysters and i was pleasantly surprised! the oysters were flavorful and delicious. the tuna nachos were my favorite. shrimp tacos were ok--shrimps weren't seasoned and the coleslaw had too much dressing. overall, good experience. would come back again for the oysters and apps.

Yelp
SUMMARY: Quality seafood located in the food court area next to the world famous Dallas Farmers Market. This is one of the restaurants I recommend to visitors if they go to the DFM. Service is spot on, food is above average to great, and atmosphere is friendly. BACKGROUND: My wife is a vendor at the DFM and so I have a lot of spare time to look around and dine. This is one of my favorites since they have big monitors that are always playing sports and have good seafood. FOOD: One challenge I always have dining out is finding healthy food that won't make me feel overcarb'd and bloated. Seafood always fits the bill and so usually I'll order their Tilapia ceviche, which is served with the lightest tortilla chips (big plus) w/ pico de gallo, avocado, and sriracha. Really tasty and I can take my time eating it and watching the games. Beer selection is good enough and I always ask the staff for recommendations. ATMOSPHERE: Very friendly mainly due to the professionalism and engagement from the staff. SERVICE: As mentioned above, everyone's cool there. They have a few regular employees and they always treat me well and still let me enjoy my time at the bar esp when watching a game. I've never felt or made to feel like my time is up, so to speak, with many bars. RETURN VISIT? Like I mentioned above, it's one of my favorites and I plan to patronize and recommend this place to other visitors to the DFM.

Yelp
Honestly, I wanted this place to be great and was disappointed. Very trendy looking bar area but, food was moderately disappointing. We had the shrimp pasta and the the cheese was not in any way creamy and pasta was getting congealed quickly. Shrimp was flavorful but different, the seasoning I felt did not pair with the pasta and cheese. We also had fish and chips and grits. The grits were again just overwhelmingly cheesy and the fish was lovely. Service was just fine, we probably won't be back again.
google avatar

CeCe S.

Yelp
We were visiting Dallas and came to Rex's because of the glowing reviews. However, I would have to disagree with the reviews and ratings unfortunately. We came during non peak times for an early dinner. Their menu looked amazing and we ordered some oysters and a lobster roll. The oysters were puny and maybe on the verge of being spoiled. The lobster on the roll was decent but they should consider selecting better bread for the roll. The bread was a bit dry, definitely bland, and unremarkable. The crawfish hush puppies were a little burnt and tasted mostly of stale oil. There were hardly any crawfish chunks in them. I did like the location and their draft beer selections though. Perhaps we just went at the wrong time and got subpar food quality.
google avatar

Lauren R.

Yelp
I was attending a group lunch and decided to try Rex's I opted for the crawfish hush puppies and redfish with red beans and rice and mixed veggies. The hush puppies had a pickled sour taste and I would have preferred them with a remoulade sauce versus the sweetness and tangy sauce I received. The redfish was fresh but meal overall lacked flavor. The presentation was great and prices competitive for fresh seafood.

Yelp
We ate here after walking around the farmers market. Our server was Ariel and she was very nice and friendly. The staff was very attentive and everything was very clean, we got raw oyster which were delicious, fried calamari with was perfect and not over cooked, I loved the ceviche which had a little kick to it. My friends had some frozen drinks which they enjoyed. If your in the area and craving some fresh seas food check this place out!
google avatar

Elle U.

Yelp
This is a great tourist place to visit. Tons of selection and you can also do some major shopping for gifts to bring home. My friends got the lobster roll and I got the bbq flatbread. So delish. I was kind of stunned when my friend got her food and instead of French fries, she got chips. The server totally rolled her eyes and left. About 10 minutes later, she slaps a plate of fries on the table. I thought it was funny as I never saw a worker roll their eyes like that. But all in all, it was great. Lol!

Kaeli E.

Yelp
I'm from out of state but whenever we go to Dallas we always make a point to stop here. Their crab cake sandwich is amazing and it's something you cannot miss. It's tucked away in an indoor building with lots of other shops/restaurants but we always come here. If you like seafood and or crab, I would highly recommend checking this place out. I've also had their pasta which is fresh and very tasty as well. The service is a fast and friendly.
google avatar

Becca S.

Yelp
Happy hour oysters? Yes please. They're giving the gulf a rest, and only had the premiums. I had already had lunch, but I couldn't help but try a few. They were SO good. Cold and clean and super fresh. The menu looks amazing and the service was great. I haven't seen this place on a weekend, as I am not big on crowds, but on a quiet Monday, everyone was at Rex's.
google avatar

Gale R.

Yelp
Great food and variety! Shrimp and Grits creamy and flavorful! Calamari had a nice cornmeal crust and dipping sauces. Seafood tacos included fish, blackened salmon and shrimp. Sweet potato fries were waffle shaped and nice and crispy. Lobster roll was tasty with drawn butter. Red beans and rice were smoky and flavorful! The farmers market was fun to walk around.
google avatar

Mike K.

Yelp
I wasn't too impressed with Rex's. I had many friends speak highly of it but it was just okay to me. The quality of the food was not what I'm used to but I'm also from South Florida. I would be willing to give it another chance but also wouldn't rush back. The service was the best part and we had a very attentive server. I think it's also expensive from what you get so not the best value.

Yelp
Has a horrible experience today. First, waitress, she could be the owner, was not engaged in any way. Cold greeting. Asked her what kind of fish was used for the fish and chips and she handed us a menu and pointed to fish and chips and mumbled what might have been cod. She was just cold. Got a lobster roll and when it was delivered, instantly saw a hair in it. I know this happens occasionally so not a huge deal. She didn't say nothing. Not even I'm sorry or anything. Just, want me to make another. No, leave the one with the hair there please. We asked for a different type of lobster roll and she then goes into the kitchen and the staff have an extended talk. It was at this point that my wife and I felt uncomfortable. What was the waitress suddenly in the kitchen for, along with everyone else. Based on her bubbly personality, my assumption was that anything coming out of the kitchen was going to have a little something extra in it. We simply walked away, no refund, just left. It's really bad because we have been eating here for years. She had a similar wonderful attitude on a previous visit which we just chalked up to a bad day. Today confirmed it's just who she is. We did speak to another employee before leaving and he said we would chat with her. Would love to see how that goes.

Yelp
This place is located inside of the indoor building of farmers market! I've always wanted to eat here. I finally got the chance this past weekend while visiting the market. After walking outside and enjoying the fresh air and outdoor market. It was nice to step inside and sit down in the ac at the oyster bar, where you can watch them shuck the many varieties of oysters from different states. Greeted by the bartender with a smile and some good southern hospitality! They have a wide variety of seafood and there were many options to choose from. I started with the crab & shrimp chips. These were very unique and tasty. Served with a decent amount of seafood which is a plus for me! A nice spin of seafood nachos on potato chips. For my entree I ordered the lobster roll Connecticut style. It's warm lump lobster on a soft toasted bun served with warm melted butter. Yummy! It took me back to my childhood when I use to live on the east coast and we would order these. Don't let the $26 price tag detour you from ordering. It's definitely worth it. They also have a New England style to choose from if you prefer a cold lobster sandwich. Many people around were ordering the oysters on the half shell so I can only imagine those are one of their most popular appetizers! All of the food looked like it would be delicious! I definitely will eat here again. They also are a market so you can get your fresh seafood to take home and make your own meals! All seafood at market prices. Not many places you can go like this place and have a nice lunch and get some to go and take home to make an awesome seafood dinner too! But you can here! If you are in Dallas and want to check out the Dallas farmers market sit back and enjoy a brew and some good seafood, then I definitely recommend you stopping by and checking out Rex's!
google avatar

Erica S.

Yelp
I just moved to the area and Rex's seafood is already a favorite. I can not say enough how good each seafood item I've gotten from there is. I would definitely recommend the tuna nachos or tuna tartare. Both are generous servings of tuna and perfect or sharing as an appetizer or eating as your own meal. Prices are high but the portion size on everything I've ordered so far has been large. For example, the fried shrimp ($16) came with 6 large shrimp, fries and an additional side. Cheapest glass of wine is $8 so I'm looking forward to planning a dinner on a wine Wednesday. Also looking forward to trying (almost) every thing else on the menu!

Yelp
This place was a great surprise. I didn't really expect much, but it was really good. What won me over was the service. They cleared away dishes and they asked before removing. It felt like 5 star customer service without the prices. We went before closing time, so they ran out of items, but the alternatives were still quality. We had the redfish with lemon caper butter, and the attic char with honey sriracha sauce. Additionally this pace is a fish market. People were buying fresh fish while we were there, and I thought how amazing. They cook everything fresh. I highly recommend trying it

Yelp
I love oysters so I love rex's. They have a rotation of oysters from different regions in north america shipped and they taste so fresh. I literally only come here to come back and try more oysters. They label each one so you can get an idea of which region you enjoy the best, I ended up making a list and have them rated so I know which one to get what I come back. My gf likes to order the mimosas also and I had a bloody mary that was good. Tried the calamari and ahi nachos too, honestly haven't had something that I didn't like. Also just to note: the oysters are not like gulf oysters so don't expect large oysters but ones with unique flavors.

Yelp
This location is prime real estate at the Dallas Farmers Market. The barstools are usually packed with very happy customers. As we had already eaten lunch, i was in it for some raw oysters - a treat I had not enjoyed since pre-COVID. There were about six varieties to choose from, and info about the differences in flavor and texture was readily available. The employees were very friendly and cheerful despite their daunting volume of business. My oysters were cold and served with just the right amount of condiments. They tasted fresh, and the shuckers did a great job of keeping the brine in the shells. All the dishes we saw coming out of the kitchen looked delicious and plentiful. I may have to come back when I haven't eaten already to enjoy one or two of their many selections.

Yelp
Place is very good.We went for a team lunch and everyone enjoyed the shrimp basket. I had the Caesar with grilled shrimp and it was good but a bit pricey for size but I almost didn't finish and someone got the salmon salad. The salmon was a typical lunch size and salmon wasn't too dry

Yelp
Went to a seafood spot in Grapevine last night and had a horrible experience. Rex's Seafood did not disappoint. My blackened reddish was done and delicious! Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
This is the ruby red trout and jalapeño crab chowder. It's good. I don't know what else to write. If you have questions, ask them. I don't work there. I just eat their food. Leave me alone.

Yelp
Very good tacos with tons of salmon which was a pleasant surprise. For $12 they may be the best deal in Dallas!

Yelp
Wife and I came here for a bite to eat for a late lunch. The service was okay and professional. We ordered the smoked salmon flatbread and the salmon was very good, but the flatbread was very dry and hard; the fried oysters for appetizers was light and good tasting, but we wished they cleaned the shell fragments a little better; and the crab cakes was pretty good and the homemade chips was cold and nothing special almost a lower version of Buc-ee's beaver chips.

Yelp
I often stop by Rex's seafood and market whenever I visit the farmers market at the Shed. Not all the time, but often. Inside the cluster of other various food stalls, it does not disappoint. I've ordered a lot of different appetizers and mains. All of which have been super tasty. Recommend the oysters, crayfish (during the season) and salmon. Staff here is also super quick and friendly! Excited to try more in the future.

Yelp
Super crowded Dallas Farmers Market we were lucky to get a table. When you order you get a number and they bring the food out. Most dishes are disposable so you're responsible for clean up. We ordered 2 kinds of raw oysters, tuna nachos, blackened redfish blt, and the lobster roll. Tuna nacho had TONS of raw tuna that tasted like it was tossed in sesame oil with 2 sauces on top. Oysters were amazing. No graininess, ice cold and super fresh. Redfish sandwich was good nothing special. The lobster roll was TERRIBLE! Meat filled barely half the roll. Mostly bread and lobster was tough and overcooked. We'll be back for oysters but not much else.

Yelp
I ordered fried shrimp & fries. The shrimp was over cooked and burnt. The fries were lukewarm. This food was horrible. The woman who took my order was not nice and she seemed in a rush. This place will never get my business again. Very disappointed.

Yelp
VERY YUMMY!!! I love all the different oysters they had, my only regret is not getting more!! We also tried the lobster roll, super yummy and fatty. The server was really attentive and friendly which we appreciated. Plus he got our oysters out super quick! Go during happy hour for $2 oysters!

Yelp
A hidden gem downtown at farmers market. Had the oysters and Sal was very informative about different oysters. Everything was fresh and environment was very relaxing.

Yelp
If you are going to the farmers market and you love seafood, come here. Immediately. I love to come here every weekday in the afternoon for happy hour! $1 Golf oysters and $2 Premium oysters. They really take their oysters seriously (like where it's from, etc). But now, they have $9.99/lbs CRAWFISH. Don't miss out on those for this season. Before we dive into the food, let me give you the run down of this place. This might be my homey seafood spot (it's near where I live compared to driving outside of dallas to get food seafood). I might come here every 2 weeks sitting at the bar. The service is really fast and nice. There's plenty of space to sit around but it's a food court, keep that in mind. Now food: Crawfish - I thought the worst but it came out delicious!!! It looked dry on the outside but it was just the dry rub sauce. The meat is super juicy and perfect balance of flavor and spice (honestly, that's rare). The only downfall is the crawfish is not that big. Just regular size. Fries - It's just soft and the tip is crispy. There's not a lot of salt on the fries. I wouldn't spend my money on it. Oysters - holy. It's cheap and ridiculously fresh. It has the perfect saltiness to it so I don't need any sauce on it. I couldn't really tell much from the $1 and $2 oyster so get whatever you want. Calamari - perfect. It's definitely crispy and the flavor is what a calamari should be. I rather order this than the fries. Bonus: Fried Oysters - I love this dish so much. I bought this when I had my wisdom teeth removed and it tasted amazing. I would also recommend!

Yelp
The sweetness of fresh juice fish is covered by the crunchy and fresh fried coat, delicious. Don't forget happy hour oysters, so cheap and fresh. #fishandchip#oyster#happyhour #food#dellicious#foodie#dfwfood#dfwfoodie#dallas#downtownDallas#misa_ttl
