I made reservations at Rey's for my birthday, which fell on a Tuesday this year. I wasn't expecting much of a crowd, but the place was surprisingly busy. As soon as we walked in, the hostess greeted us warmly and seated us right away. She placed our menus in front of us and even gave me a birthday card, which was a nice touch.
Our server came over, asked if it was our first time, and inquired about who was celebrating a birthday. After wishing me a happy birthday, he went over the day's specials and explained that the menu was à la carte. I ordered a lemon drop martini for my drink, and for my entrée, I chose the grouper. For the table, we ordered the lobster mac and cheese, greens, and mashed sweet potatoes. They also brought some bread, which was absolutely delicious.
The food was excellent--flavorful without being too heavy, so I didn't feel overly stuffed. Since it was my birthday, they offered me a complimentary dessert, and I chose the crème brûlée, which was also very good. I loved the ambiance of the place, and at one point, either a manager or one of the owners came by to check on us, which showed great attention to detail. All the employees seemed to work well together, creating a cohesive experience.
The vibe was perfect for a family outing, date night, or a girls' night. I would definitely return!
