This vintage 1961 multi-sports venue, home to D.C. United, buzzes with eclectic events and a community vibe, though it shows signs of wear.

"The National Cannabis Festival returns to RFK Stadium’s grounds on Saturday, April 22 with a food-filled Muchies Zone, ice cream-eating competitions, regulatory awareness around the rise of cannabis cafes, and a debut restaurant week leading up to the weed-friendly event. Now in its seventh year, the one-day D.C. festival with upwards of 25,000 anticipated attendees bills itself as the largest ticketed cannabis gathering in the U.S. The elevating event (noon to 10 p.m.) also includes a concert headlined by big-name rappers 2 Chainz and Juicy J. General admission passes are $85." - Tierney Plumb

We loved DC United and coming to watch them play at RFK! Parking is easy in the many lots and the stadium has bathrooms, kiosks for food and drink and even some perches available to watch the action. Vamos United!

Went there for Jurassic Quest drive event. It was a good experience. But the lane merge was horrible, especially when people are not willing to be patient.

I came on a rainy day so everything was wet (seats and even the bathroom area), and I felt the stadium was fairly run down. But overall, it was maintained well. I see why they will be relocating in the future though.

As a Washingtonian, I am proud to see how RFK has been transformed and continues to be a staple in the community for various activities. With Covid 19, it has been used for several safe activities that I have enjoyed with my family during this difficult time.

Cool place. Looks really run down. The parking lots are where the events happen. Not bad at all. Convenient location!

Needs to be back in DC it takes an hour just to get to the game trying to park & the stadium needs major upgrades there is nowhere to dine in that area Just bring the team back to DC

Was here for the 5k DC night run... Event organizers and Stadium management did a great job with safety and organizing the event. It's DC so parking was tight as always. Hence being early helps you avoid all the inconvenience and lines to an extent.

This place is falling apart. The stands rock when supporters get rowdy. There were presidential mascots taking penalty kicks at half time. It'll be a shame when they tear down this scourge on the earth. I'm glad I went.

Yelp
The Fields at RFK may be the city's best playground/play area. Here's why: 1) Playground: The ground is bouncy making it safer for kids and the equipment is slightly more advanced to help children develop confidence. There are mounds to climb, a three story slide, swings, etc. There's equipment for older kids and young kids like my 2-year-old daughter. 2) Fields: Nearby are several fields often used for soccer. My daughter loves watching people play soccer offering more entertainment. 3) View: Kids love that the Metro soars by nearby above ground and adults find it cool too! 4) Facilities: There are trash cans around, a party pavilion with outlets, and nice bathrooms with plenty of drinking water. 5) Kingman Island: Nearby is the entrance to Kingman Island, a man-made island in the Anacostia River with canoes, over 100 resident and migratory birds, and wooden bridges. We're averaging two trips a day here on the weekends. It's such a great area for families!

Yelp
As I am always looking for a new playground during these times, I was aware of the fields at RFK and decided to finally check it on this past Wednesday. We arrived slightly after 2pm and there were more people there than I thought would be there. I quickly realized about half of those kids were a childcare group. Considering the overall playground area, this is definitely one of the best in not only DC but in the DMV area. It reminds me of the greatest hits of some of our favorite parks in NOVA: Fort Barnard, Mosaic Park, and Quincy Park (all in Arlington and worth visiting). My son loved the sports theme and naming the different balls. There are multiple slides: a roller slide, a small slide, medium slide, and a large tube slide. There are lots of "mountains " with and without rocks, bridges to climb, and various musical components. There's a two story merry-go-round, a couple one level ones, and multiple styles of swings. A separate part of the fields at RFK are the fields themselves. We spent some time on one kicking a soccer ball and throwing a football. There were no formal things going on except for what looked to be some organized kid movement class. A couple people practicing, another few just wrestling , and a few more walking. Of particular note, parking is readily available and the bathrooms are open. They have a changing room bathroom too. It only took about 20 minutes to get here, which is similar to some of the nicer parks in North Arlington, so I'd come here again for sure!

Yelp
Y'all this playground is top notch! As others have stated, there's something for a range of ages. I will note that parents kind of...leave their kids to their own devices here. You know how at some parks, parents are shouting to kids not to do this or that? That's not here. It's the wild Wild West! You can reserve four of the six picnic tables under the shelter for two hours at a time. Great for birthday parties!

Yelp
The Security Staff here is so helpful Mike who I had the pleasure of meeting gave me the run down on where to park my Semi overnight, what gates stay open, where the lights stay on and how the police come by every hour. He was so kind as to inform me where I could park to pic up WiFi. If more people were like Mike the world would be a better place. In the pic is Squirrel (Lady on left) and Mike (Gentleman on right) Thank u for your service this Sunday Evening Mike. U made my day.

Yelp
I want to provide a more positive review of The Fields, because there are many positives. But I have experienced too much negativity here to ignore it. The Fields are adjacent to the old RFK stadium which I wish the city would revive. The stadium is a hulk of decomposing metal at the moment. These fields were built atop a brambly decomposing parking lot. There are about 4-5 football fields which are turf, a kids play area, a somewhat useless exercise area, and Kingman and Heritage Islands and the Anacostia Bike Trail are nearby. It's a great one stop shop for everything! But... Every time I'm here something bad happens. There are weird riff raff people milling around. The security guards are either absentee or annoying (today they tried to kick me out of the park because my kids didn't have shoes on, which is not against the rules of the park but is against the rules of the playing fields). Then the security guards got into a fight with some other people who physically attacked them. It got ugly, the police came. There's typically trash all over the playground and the area under the awning where people eat is gross, covered in food droppings. Shade is a real problem here as in other parks in DC. The park architects don't seem to realize that trees are important. This place gets HOT!! Parking is both good and bad. If any team is on the fields, there is no parking. But usually you can find something. I can't imagine a tournament here however, they are not ready for that much parking. The parking lot is dirty, full of trash, and gas broken glass everywhere. Park maintenance us so bad that the equipment is already breaking down. It's sad that so much money is going to waste. The water fountains are few and not chilled. The restrooms are not clean or air conditioned. This could be an amazing park! It has the bones of being the greatest. But mismanagement, bad security guards, and generally all the trash here make it a non starter.

Yelp
First time visiting and I found the area was well kept and maintained. Didn't stay long. There are nicer places, in comparison and proximity, to hangout, but overall, this was sufficient to kill some time.

Yelp
An awesome new set of three fields on the parking lot grounds of RFK stadium. There's also a brand new playground. Plenty of parking and seats. It gives a real city vibe with the Blue/Orange/Silver line trains rattling overhead. It's a pretty twisty, turny, and far walk from the metro though.
