Great place to enjoy jazz music in a speakeasy kind of location. Walking down the stairs from the main entrance literally transports you away from the craziness of downtown L.A. into a friendly and welcoming bar. There is something for everyone here. The drinks are great. Beer is fresh and cold on tap in addition to other alcoholic spirts if that is your flavor. The bar also host as a kitchen. Food is simple and taste great. Further down the bar you can be entertained with live music or converse with friends while relaxing at the multiple sofas and other seating areas. There are a few pool tables as well as board games to also pass the time. The layout of the place was great because the chill zones are separated from the bar. Recommend you call before hand to find out live entertainment for the night. Staff was super friendly and attentive. Super clear establishment.

Parking is a challenge. $5 entry fee. Music and vibes are great! Most bartenders are cool but caught a bit of attitude with a long haired Asian bartender over a debit card that I had just previously used for to buy a drink. Apparently, the previous bartender had no issue but he said that he couldn't process payment because it didn't have a chip. I explained to him that the previous bartender had no issue, his reply with attitude "The previous bartender made a mistake. I'm TELLING you that I need a card with a chip". I gave him another card and showed him the receipt of my previous payment and asked if I was previously charged correctly? He began to try and mumble his way out of it and then got a call on his cell, and just walked away...lol. Other than that, all is good.

January 17 2025. My wife and I are going on 23 years of marriage and just recently started playing pool together. So we had the opportunity to come to this great place. I got mad points for finding out this hidden diamond where the food was more than excellent the garlic mayonnaise was delicious.

Really cool underground bar/night club with great live music. We had no expectations we came by this spot and we had a really good time. The food was good and the music was even better. Here are some thoughts: Environment At the time you arrive you are greeted by security who will check your IDs. There is a cover charge to get in. I believe it was $5 and they do take cards if you don't have cash. Once you're in walk down a flight of steps with really cool decor. It seems like there might not be much to the place but then it opens up into the establishment with booths straight ahead, a bar to your right and further into the space is more seating, pool tables, ping pong, and shuffleboard theres are a huge projector that doubles as a stage for live music. The ambiance is real dope, it gives us gringy, speakeasy vibes but busy and lively. We came on a good night where there was great live music. You order everything at the bar - food and drinks. You can grab your drinks and they give you a number and bring your food out to you. Overall pretty easy and even when it was busy it didn't take too long to order and get everything you needed. Overall pretty good experience and really enjoyed the vibes. If you're look for a lighter crowd i suggest getting their early. It looks like it may pretty lively as the night goes on. Service didn't really have much service. The security was cool and welcoming - no issues there and the bartenders were pretty quick and efficient even with a huge crowd. Food and drinks The food was pretty solid. We had the nachos, the burger and some fries. All were good. My colleague really enjoyed the nachos - I'm not sure if it's because she likes nachos a ton or if it was just that good. lol But overall the food is good enough to go back and solid to have again. Overall Really cool spot and good for live music and some solid food and if you want to play some games with friends. Also good for a quick drink before going out to dinner or enjoying the rest of your night. Loved the decor and the ambiance. Would go back.

I wanted to try a new place. From the photos, I thought it would be great that it would be lively and filled with excitement. In truth, I was disappointed 😞. The front entrance was definitely cool; the colors and ambiance were intriguing, and most of the people were nice. Yet, we went on a late Thursday night, and the place was empty, lonely at times. Few were entertained, many just playing pool, no musical entertainment, and the only positive attribute was the bar area. I did find some attendees being rude, cutting the bar lines, the staff not controlling the flow well, and don't get me started on parking. You need to find a parking structure ! Come 30 min early for a parking spot. I was fortunate to get something 1 block away, and that was literally luck!. The entrance host was nice and cordial, the staff overall was great, and the decor was fine and alluring. But the food was subpar, drinks weren't potent, and the overly rude people I found were a bit too much. I rated this place a 2.75 to a 3. If there were more servers or músical entertainment venues ...possibly a higher score.

Amazing little hidden gem. Staff is absolutely amazing. The vibe here is top notch h. Pool tables, shuffleboard, darts, ping pong, full bar, great music. Parking can be tricky, but highly recommend and will return.

Great large spot with fun history to visit with live nightly music and fun activities to do (Pool tables, shuffleboard, ping pong, board games etc). Food and fun tasty drinks too. 10/10

It’s super fun! This is exactly the kind of bar I like and that’s why it gets 5 stars. I was there on a saturday evening. Not too crowded, easy to approach people, great live music, awesome selection of games, from pool, table tennis, fusball, board games and others. A downside is that sometimes you need to wait for a while before getting your turn to play. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. I will definitely be back here.

Royce was GREAT! Aka, slippery when wet. He made a tasteful joke and I found it hilarious. I'm a neat drink kind of person, whistle pig 10 year aged was available, great. Double shot near please. I then asked for the most FRUITIST drink for my friend, she liked it: Mango margaritas. The ambiance is fun: full of games, pool tables and darts. Drinks are moderately priced and a good selection of well drinks.

Went there Friday night with people from work. It's a fun bar with pool tables, foozeball, table tennis. They also have big TVs and the dodger game was on. There was also a live band later in the night. I really liked the rice rice baby drink. But if you don't like sweet, then it's not for you. We also got bunch of bar bites. The popcorn shrimp had very little shrimp so I don't recommend those. The popcorn chicken was decent and the tater tots were nice and crispy. The bathroom was nice and clean. There is a $5 cover but they take credit card. I don't remember seeing a sign outside so just look for the bouncer.

Stopped by Thursday night for a drinks and a few bites. I tried the burger, steak fries and popcorn shrimp . The burger was absolutely delicious. Steak fries were good size order and the popcorn shrimp came with two dipping sauces one was tangy and tasted like the Louisiana hot sauce and the other sauce tasted like a dijon mustard. There is a cover charge of 5 dollars you can pay with card or cash. There is a few seating area around the bar . I got there before the office crowd and a private event came in . It's a very lively bar it got crowded quickly. If you plan on driving there are a few parking lots walking distance keep in mind the card readers don't work you must pay the machine in cash exact change around 15 dollars flat fee.

We stumbled upon this place after having dinner at a near by restaurant. I am so glad we decided to explore the city. I never would have expected an electric, fun, jazz bar in the heart of downtown LA. I walked in and immediately felt like I was in New Orleans. The ambience is great. The drinks are great, not to mention the burger we had was surprisingly delicious. They have several pool tables, a ping pong table and way in the back is a nice book shelf filled with various types of games. The service was good, and the jazz band that started playing at 9 pm was icing on the cake. Can't wait to go back.

Ordered the chicken po' boy. It was pretty good, basically a chicken sandwich with hot sauce on the side. Needs some more seasoning and spice to be a po' boy in my opinion. Slaw was called a simple slaw and definitely was. Never been to a place where the billiards table cost more than the drinks. But it for sure was a chill vibe. $5 cover but you can come in and out which is cool. Excited about the live music. It does not start until 9:30, so I'll be coming back later. TBC. Cute date environment!!!

VIBES VIBES VIBES!! Come here for the jazzy music and rustic yet elegant atmosphere. I highly recommend that you eat before. The food isn't very good. Fires pickles aren't edible. Service was attentive and kind.

Rhythm Room is a great place to grab a bite and listen to some live music! The staff that we encountered was super cool and inviting and the bartender made great drinks! You can also play games and shoot pool if you like! It was my friends birthday so we came during the storm (after eating elsewhere). I thought it was nice that they still had a show for us and like 4 other people considering all He!? was breaking loose outside lol! Rhythm Room is a whole vibe and will surely be added to my DTLA hang out places!

I wish there were more chill laid back places like this. I went for the first time before Covid and a few weeks ago with friends. They have pool, board games, and live jazz usually. It's not too loud for us millennials. it has a chill vibe if you're not in to the club scene. All my friends enjoyed themselves. The food I ate was not technically great, but my friends enjoyed their meals.

It was a cute vibe on Thursday night with my love. We ate fries and had front row table seats to experience the live band. We couldn't play any games due to them being heavily occupied but the show was really good. The singer through in R&B covers and originals

Had a pretty good time here on a Saturday night. It was easy to find as there's someone outside checking IDs and taking payments. It costs $5 per person to get in. Once you walk in and walk down the stairs, it as if you've transported to another time period. The space is bigger than what meets the eye. There's a front area with a bar and some standing tables, an area for performers (and seats for patrons), and then some game areas. Getting a drink took a while since was only one bartender working on a busy Saturday night. I got the Frank Ginatra and was very pleased! It seemed like a steal to be able to get a good drink in LA for less than $20. I also tried the pineapple shot because it was $5. I wouldn't get it again. It tasted like pineapple juice with a splash of some type of alcohol. There are a bunch of board and table games to choose from if you're not interested in foosball or pool. I had fun playing battleship and some social/interactive card question game. The security guard that was there killed the mood at times with his herding and patrolling but out group didn't let him kill the vibe. It was interesting to listen to the cover band that went through a lot of great hits. If you're looking for a place that can facilitate a lower key night but still have fun vibes, this is the place to do it.

A cool little spot to come and get drinks and hear live music. We came here for a birthday party and there is parking next door but it's CASH ONLY. The drinks were great! They had a cute bar with 2-3 bartenders and they also served food though we didn't order any. They have pool tables, ping pong tables, board games and shuffleboard however they charge you to use them. For example, it $20 an hour to play pool

Came here with the hubby on a Thursday night. Looking for a place with live music. Well they not only have live music but it was sort of like game bar. They had a large projector screen, a good playlist while you wait for the band. Pool tables, ping pong tables, foosball, card games and more. The bar was good. The food is more like appetizers.

Very, very cool location. Superb ambiance, with a multi-level open floor plan that is perfect for large groups or an intimate outing. Food and drinks were good; pretty strong and not outrageously priced. The service was prompt and professional. Definitely will return!

Great bar - great vibes. First, I'll preface this by saying I read a handful of negative vibes about this spot recently, so I chose to visit the spot during the weekday to avoid a chaotic crowd. Honestly, there's nothing I could not appreciate about the joint. They have someone manning the door, and the mood is very relaxing. Dimmed lights, large bar, a section to drink/listen to music and a place for games. The bartenders were great, and are easy to talk to. They got creative in the way they named their drinks, and it tasted alright too. Price for the place and the drinks were pretty reasonable. They have a few pool tables and chess tables for anyone interested. I was playing pool in the section behind the entertainment, and I felt like we had our privacy even though we were in a social setting. We had great live jazz music that night, and I think I sat there for about an hour enjoying the mood.

Super fun place even on a Thursday night. It's spacious with a lot of pool tables and even a ping pong table. Got the espresso martini and an old fashioned. Drinks are strong and tasty. Vibe was fun. Service at the bar was fast. Would recommend coming back.

Went there for my friends birthday with a large group on a Friday night around 11 pm and wow we were all so impressed!! First of all, they had $5 rum and pineapple shots as a special that night and those definitely did not stop coming for us, and honestly really strong for being $5. Second, the space was so nice and spacious, I never felt crowded or hot even though the place was definitely full of life. We hung by the billiards table and had a great night with friends, will definitely come back for a night out.

Thai is a really cool spot and the music is great, live bands go til 1 am. It's underground so don't miss it. And no parking so take an Uber. Always high level talent. Great low key spot to take a date.

I came here for a birthday celebration and the venue has live music and their food and drinks are really good! They also have a bunch of games that you can play as well, which I thought was pretty cool! I'd definitely return!!

Rhythm Room offers a little bit of something for everyone. After my first time here, I definitely agree that they deserve all of the high Google and Yelp ratings online. It's the perfect place for large groups, date nights, or just a place to chill and sip drinks or snack. They have several areas were they can accommodate a large group or if you and your companion just want to enjoy a relaxing board game/darts/pool in the corner away from the livelier crowd. Check their website for performances as they have rotating residencies with certain artists. The crowd is very laid back and unpretentious. There is definitely no drama here. Dress code is very casual. The performance that night was the Mark Pelli Band. Check out his instagram for a sample of his music. They do three 30 min sets and this particular night they had guest vocals/visiting singers . Most attendees in our group took a ride share over, but there is a $10 well lit underground parking garage right next to the venue. It's 3 stores/50 ft right before the entrance of Rhythm Room. $5 cover charge Highly recommend for a no fuss birthday get together where guests cans come and go as they please and have numerous options other than coming to just drink.

First of all, location is key here-seems like you're stepping into a new world, underground. If you love live music like me, Friday is a vibe. Music was great, drinks and services were perfect. I highly recommend this place for a date night and pool table fun.

Found this spot randomly through Yelp when I was cravin for a spot with great drinks and good music! To my surprise, this place did not disappoint. Love the ambiance! The music that night satisfied my auditory cravings. We were singin and dancing to every song! They were playing every hit from Michel Jackson to Stevie Wonder. However, the cocktails were so weak. I shoulda just had water "all night long...all night all night" (they played this song too ). The food was bar food basic but has great prices! So I guess you get what you pay for. I'd definitely be back because the live music was off the chain and the service was pretty good. Oh and they have a cute side room with pool table and games. Totally the spot for a cute date night or just hangin with your girls!

Best place I could've had a birthday! The staff was great. They were kind, and helpful. I had 20 guests at my reserved spot and they all individually raved about this spot. Their resident singer is great! Their bartenders are fast, attentive, and knowledgeable. & their security, specifically Mr. Jay was the best. He went out of the way to make sure everything was going the way it should. I want to thank Cindy, Mel & Jay. Even if you don't have an event to book, I highly recommend this space for a date night, or a girls night. Their ambience is great, they have entertainment & games! Thank you Rhythm Room

Visited this bar with two fantastic women bartenders who made the experience even better. The ambience is top-notch--dark and classy. Live music showcases diverse talent, and the addition of pool and ping pong tables adds to the fun (though pool comes with a $20/hr price tag). Special thanks to Tyler for answering questions about the establishment. Great drinks, but be ready for DTLA prices; the $5 pineapple rum shots, however, were a delightful find. A memorable night with an excellent team! Thank you to the two ladies serving drinks, you guys are amazing.

I was hesitant to write a review because I want to keep this little gem to myself lol. If you love live music like I do, you will definitely love Rhythm Room LA! Because I still want to keep this place to myself, that's all the review you will get from me HAHAHAHA!

Great spot for live music! The place is spacious. They call it a speakeasy but I think it's more of a basement venue, there isn't a secret entrance or anything like that. When I called before heading over, they suggested I go online & make a reservation on their platform if we wanted guaranteed seating. It was $15 per person which seemed steep so I opted to take my chances by walking in. Cover at the door was much cheaper - $5. It wasn't very crowded so there was no issues finding a seat. I'm sure if it's a crowded night & you plan to stay a few hours, it's best to make reservations in advance. Drinks were tasty ($14) - they have a jalapeño infused cocktail which was the group favorite if you like a little kick. They don't have servers so you do have to go up to the bar to order drinks & food which can be annoying if your paying to reserve a table or sofa lounge seating. If you're looking for a chill place to hang with a group of friends, this is a good, spacious spot. Oh, they have a few pool tables as well.

Great spot!! Totally recommend this place if you want to take a girl on a date who loves to listen to music and have drinks. Drinks are a bit pricey but it's dtla. Live music was great, drinks were great(long lines), ambience was on point and they got food. My experience was great and will definitely be coming back again.

It was my first time going out in LA and I'm so glad I stumbled upon Rhythm Room to break the ice. This bar is so beautifully decorated, I really loved the aesthetic. It had a cozy speak easy vibe, but also felt like a jazz club kinda? The owner did a great job with the decoration especially with a beautiful subway mosaic that resembles NY subways. You gotta see it for yourself! There were many additions that make this place an amazing stop for the night. The first is the live band! I love how they had a live band playing music, it just really added to the ambiance and I'm a sucker for live music. There was plenty of room and seating for people to hang around without feeling too crowded! I was really surprised at how much space was in the bar. They also have an area for pool which I felt like was a really cool interactive activity to have in a bar. I also really enjoyed the drink menu! I had the tropic thunder and it was sooo delicious with a little kick of spice! I got it two times. Trust me and get this one if you like drinks on the sweeter side. My boyfriend got the mango one and he really liked it too. Overall, this place is amazing! Def a must see if you're looking for a chill yet exciting night in LA. I would come here with friends or for a romantic date night because the ambience really fits both those. Such a great mixture of intimacy and liveliness. Well done!

I went here with my fiancé last week, and we watched some really great live music and had some delicious cocktails. Really cool vibe in the spot, and definitely some place I would go back again. We also took our friend visiting from Belgium, and he loved it as well. We will definitely be back to watch more live music.

We chose to go to rhythm lounge to celebrate my dear friends birthday, and when I tell you, the vibe was everything there wasn't a long time to get in when you walk in you go down a flight of stairs that lead you right into the bar where you can order from a variety of drinks it's low lighting very dim the night we went. There was a live cover band which is awesome. They have pool table and other games as well as board game and open seating. First come first serve all in all, this is a great, hang out if you're in the LA area.

This place is such a great place to go. Inside it just is super spacious. There are chairs and tables, couches, booths as options to sit at. They provide games that you can play. There is also live music. It's such a chill vibe. Like you can spend all day just relaxing and drinking with friends. I went with some friends for food and drinks. It's been awhile since I last went, but I remember the food being good. I got the philly cheese steak and I kept eating my friends fries. Also got the moscow mule. Everything tasted great. I definitely will come back when I'm in the mood to drive to Downtown LA. This is a good place to check out when you want to hang out with some friends or go on a date for sure.

I came here Saturday night around 7:30pm? We were able to walk in and got a table by the stage before the band started playing. We ordered some food and drinks at the bar. There aren't too many food options so I would probably eat somewhere else before and just munch on things here! Pretty spacious with darts, pool tables, board games, and live music! Unfortunately the ping pong tables haven't come back since COVID. When the band started playing, they had my full attention! So talented! I wish I could've spent all night here. I'll be back!!!

I've never considered myself part of the in crowd, but I felt special and hip when I descended the stairs into the Rhythm Room LA. A very modest door charge for the quality of music. It just felt like everyone was there to have a great time. There's lots of boardgames, pool tables and dart boards that kept us entertained in between music sets. This is a hidden gem.

I celebrated my birthday here lastnight and it was amazing from the live music, games, bar, and food! The service was phenomenal and the staff was so nice, welcoming, and helpful with anything I needed especially the security Jay, a complete gentleman that took really good care of me and my guest. Thank you guys for an amazing night, will definitely be back!

What happened to the Rhythm Room LA? before I moved away in Mid 2018 my spouse and I would love going there to spend the evening playing pool, having drinks and enjoying the food and ambiance. Back then the staff was awesome. Since we just relocated back to LA we decided to stop through, our experience was unbelievably different than before in a bad bad bad ugly way. The only person who was great there was the bartender Ashley. Ashley was friendly, and engaging and super cool. Everyone else was the opposite of Ashley. The food good and awful. The pool tables were nasty and uneven. All the pool cues were warped. The guy in charge of the pool tables was down right rude. Until I hear and see better J will never patronize this place again!

So they food was decent bar food. The band that played was a cover band that attracted maybe 21 year olds. Not exactly a jazz bar.

Really cool jazz bar in LA. However, on a quiet Thursday there was still a $10 cover and there was only one group playing at 930pm. Their pepper steak sandwich is pretty good but their other burgers were disappointing. Fantastic old fashioned though.

Nice vibe but overpriced. Since when have they charged for games. $20 for an hour of ping pong is DIABOLICAL. I came a couple years ago and wasn't charged to play. I can justify a small about like $10 bucks but $20 is CRAZY.
