We had 6:30 reservations for a Wednesday night via Resy. Two out of six of us arrived 15 minutes early, but they wouldn't seat us until the whole party arrived. Which normally would be understandable, but there was no one else dining at the restaurant at that time.
We ordered:
-Seafood pancake - I normally don't love pajeon because they're mostly soggy, but this one was pretty good
-Mushroom japchae - surprisingly, I did not miss the meat. It was very flavorful overall, but the portion is small
-Beef combo - I can't remember exactly what cuts there were, but there were four different kinds. Since I'm pregnant, I had to eat all my meat well done but even then, it was still really good (with the exception of some chewy pieces). The marinade is done very well
-Banchan - this comes with the combo, though I'm not sure if it comes with all meals because Rib No. 7 is not your typical Korean restaurant. But this might be some of the best banchan I've had in a while. They put their own spin to some of the dishes, which I really liked. We had fish cake, cucumber kimchi, frozen daikon kimchi, pickled daikon sheets, kimchi, scallion salad, and cold seaweed steamed egg, which was my favorite. I probably could have made a whole meal just of this. Free refills are available but only upon request
-Mango cheesecake - this was decent
-Matcha cheesecake - lots of matcha flavor, which I liked
-Black sesame ice cream - this was my favorite of the three desserts. There was lots of black sesame flavor. However, we found out after the fact that it was $15 for two scoops of ice cream, which is the definition of highway robbery
Overall, it was a great meal but it is pricy, even for Ktown. But I would say it's worth the once in a while splurge, or if you want to go here for a special occasion.
