A longtime neighborhood favorite for oak‑fired pizzas, pastas, and a solid wine list. Praised by local food writers and reliably busy with regulars, it’s the kind of place servers know your order before you sit.

I definitely recommend to make reservations here! My friends and I walked in yesterday evening and only had to wait about 2-3 minutes as they were clearing a table. We loved the food, the service, and more! It is a smaller restaurant but a means for a great experience! Recommended dishes from the artichoke dip, seafood combo pasta, and their dessert! All of these are great to choose from! We would come again.

We are craving for Italian food and this place far exceeded our expectation. The Calamari is, surprisingly, the best we ever have so far. It is so tender with a very light breading and complimented with the marina and pesto dippings. It is soooo delicious. The Chicken Alfredo has a generous amount of sauce, a thinner version with subtle buttery taste that does not overwhelm the pasta combined with the perfectly cooked tender and juicy chicken. The Lasagna almost melts in your mouth with the marinara sauce, meat and Italian sausage all blend for very tasty dish-not one ingredient overpowers another. The Cannoli, has just the right amount of sweetness combined with the crunchiness of the fried dough wrapping, is the best finale to a happy meal.

The atmosphere is very nice and pleasant for a family dinner we had. The food was absolutely beautiful and tasted wonders! The waitress got our drink wrong but that’s fine not a big deal. Ordered a bottle and the waitress spilt some wine on our hand/table not intentionally. But our experience today was great would love to come back! Thanks you guys for the experience!

Google
Definitely the best Italian I've had a in a long while. Calamari was amazing, the veal parmesean was so good and the tiramisu....yummy!!! Make a stop here for the good stuff!

Google
This restaurant was a surprise. It's quaint and has a nice atmosphere. The staff were all very professional and nice. The food was really good and the dessert was so delish! We had baked penne w/meat sauce, baked ravioli w/meat sauce, baked manicotti w/meat sauce and baked lasagna w/meat sauce. Everything was really good and everyone enjoyed their meals. My only critique is that the sauce was just a tad too sweet for my taste buds. But that won't hold me back frim a return visit. Dessert, we had the tiramisu and the chocolate cake. Amazing. I wish the tiramisu came with the liquor in it, but this is the best non-alcohol tiramisu I've had in a long time. If 1/2 marks could be done I would give this restaurant a 4.5.

Google
Food was fantastic even without fresh Parmesan on top of the pasta which was never offered. Server was rushed even though not that busy. Not very friendly either. We were celebrating a birthday which I mentioned when making the reservation, but nothing was mentioned at the table. The floor was very uneven so my chair rocked the entire time. Tried switching chairs out to no avail. Kitchen did a great job.

Google
Cool little neighborhood spot. Nice vibe - hard to describe, but I liked it. Service was good, prices and portions were reasonable. Salads and salmon were great. Sauce on the pizza was quite unremarkable, however. Would like to return and try their paste dishes!

Google
Are here because the restaurant next door was unexpectedly closed... and we were delighted by what we found. Great food and friendly service (they squeezed us in without a reservation). Outdoor dining was very pleasant, too. Try the mac and cheese with a drizzle of truffle oil!

Yelp
This restaurant has been around forever, so that should tell you something. The restaurant itself is not huge, but they have a great patio area under the trees. Inside the restaurant can get really loud when they are busy. Good selection of traditional Italian favorites. The mushroom penne with truffle oil was delicious, a perfect portion, not too much, and not too little - a rich dish shouldn't leave you uncomfortably full. The wood fired pizzas looked great, so I'd like to try one if we come back. The restaurant was super full the last time I dined in, and the staff was a mix of temperaments - our server was very helpful and apologetic for the wait and delays, but the host appeared more annoyed with the overflow of people rather than grateful for their patronage. With lots of excellent Italian restaurants in the area, I hope they see the influx of people as a good thing, and treat their guests accordingly.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to visit. Food is always on point. Service is always above average and it's a cozy inviting atmosphere.

Yelp
Food - great Service - great Ambiance - nice bar will be back for table/booth 1st time here on 12/3/24 Great Garbage Truck pizza, "no flop" good crunchy crust, fresh and crunchy ingredients (green peppers, pepperoni, chewy mushrooms, tasty mozzarella. Ate 2 slices @ the bar, 3 (2, 2, 1) meals for rest of week. Got the: Garbage Truck - Ricco's marinara, provolone & mozzarella, pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, onions, green peppers. Will be back for either other pizzas, or their Italian food (lasagna etc) Don't let their fancy website fool you, this looks/seems to NOT be an uppity/upscale/froo-froo Italian restaurant-eh like others in town. As da Terminator said "I'll be back!"

Yelp
Great food, good service, and a nice atmosphere. This will be a regular stopping place for us

Yelp
I stopped here for lunch during a weekday. It was busy but we did not have a wait. I ordered the pizza lunch combo with the spinach salad and the Garbage Truck pizza. The salad was just ok. The pizza was good but did have a soggy crust on the bottom. They did include plenty of toppings which was nice. Everything was ok but I don't plan on returning.

Yelp
The waitress was very forgetful and disappeared - eating and on her phone. Very anxious rubbing her arms talking fast . We were told the food was wonderful - the place had ambience - no! The meatball sandwich was mediocre. First time I had under seasoned meatballs-soggy - not under cooked but too much breading. The pizza was nothing to talk about. It reminded me of eating at fast food restaurant. I got three large pieces of lettuce I had to cut up. I don't think I will go back - not what thought it would be. Average priced. Wasn't awful but not for me.

Yelp
One of my favorite Italian places in KC! It's locally-owned (for decades) and the food and service is top-notch! The wood-fired pizzas are great, and you can't go wrong with any of the pasta (manicotti, spaghetti with meat sauce are my favorites, but the chicken spadini is great as well)! It's a cute little place tucked in a corner. You should think about reservations as it packs up pretty quick, and the bar fills up early with locals. Always a great time with amazing food! One of my go-to places!

Yelp
Def one of my fave little cafés in Overland Park. It's hidden in a strip mall, but it's worth seeking out. Great Italian food, great service, great ambiance- except the fairly open concept kitchen means it's kinda loud. Get the Garbage Truck pizza- terrible name, but it's SO GOOD. Pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, & green onions with 2 kinds of cheese on their perfectly done homemade crust.

Yelp
If I could have rated it 3.5 stars, I would have. The ambiance was a 3; the food was a 4. I think my first experience here was in 1995, when it was owned by a friend's husband, and Shrimp Scampi has been the dish of my dreams ever since! But even then it wasn't exactly in my price range, so I've only been back a few times. It seemed classier and more friendly then, with the tables not so jammed together, and less noisy. I don't think I've ever had Shrimp Scampi made with anything except Angel hair pasta, but now they make it with linguine. Despite that disappointment, the flavor was good and there was a generous amount of shrimp, a big plus! The Caesar salad was very good, and my companion loves the oddly named "Garbage Pizza." The bite I tried was tasty. Based on the amount of people here this time, it's still a very popular restaurant!

Yelp
If our server Madeline had not been so accommodating and friendly, and if we didn't get free cake for a birthday this would have been a three star review. Charging nearly the same price for a full Mia pizza just to withhold pepperoni on one half of it is unreasonable. Especially since it wasn't clearly written on the menu, and the server didn't warn us about the additional price or suggest a second pizza for $3 more. The restaurant was also quite chilly (winter time) likely due to the large windows. Nevertheless, my wife liked her Mushroom Penne, and my Garbage Truck pizza was acceptable.

Yelp
Cute place. Simple to the point. Food was good. There with a small group. Staff was friendly.

Yelp
For a transplanted new jerseyite, this is the closest thing to a neighborhood Italian restaurant that I have found in KC. Great food, great service.

Yelp
A friend recommended this place to me. We decided to go there for dinner on a Saturday night. When we arrived there were people waiting for tables. But for two people we got seated right away. It's a nice family owned restaurant located in a shopping strip across from JCCC. They have outdoor seating area. It's a small place and very quaint. I instantly like the place. Tradition Italian food menu. Service was great. And I would definitely go back.

Yelp
First time diners. Discovered that Ricco's is a cozy Italian bistro with a casual steakhouse vibe. The dark interior, candlelit tables, and warm ambiance made it feel instantly inviting. There is outdoor seating, but it was full. We went specifically to try the wood-fired pizza ...we were not disappointed! The crust was a perfect blend of soft and crispy with a slight char, and the fresh ingredients elevated each bite. We choose a classic Margherita but there are other unique flavor/ingredient combinations. Two sizes - 8" and 12" ...the 12" really is ideal for two. Added a Caesar side salad to complete the meal. Service was good, a bit slow, but it was a busy Friday evening. Our server was attentive but not bothersome. Affordable prices. Nice wine selection and bar menu.

Yelp
This is a bit of a unicorn in Overland Park. It has great prices, great food and great service. This may sound crazy but the best dish is their steak. They cook it perfectly and the blue cheese is wonderful. It is not loud. Everything moves smoothly and they make doing a great job look easy. If you like bistro's you will love Ricco's.
google avatar

Candice S.

Yelp
We have been here a couple of times. They are usually busy, but we have never had to wait long for a table. The service is always great and timely. It is a little small of a restaurant, but that's ok. Sometimes I think their food has too much oil, or their sauces are too thin, but the taste is always there. I recommend this place and saw they have a good lunch menu.
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
Lovely small restaurant with delicious food. Service was very good. Management a little overwhelming but tolerable. Focus on the food! Portion sizes very good. Plan to return.

Yelp
Dinner with some good friends who had never been to Ricco's, we absolutely loved it. Food was amazing, drinks were good and wonderful staff. Thanks for making our night great!! We highly recommend coming and enjoying with friends or even a date.

Yelp
First time here. We had no reservations on a Saturday night, but went early. The hostess asked if she could seat us at a table with a reservation an hour and 20 minutes later. I appreciated the communication and since we did not have a reservation, we were respectful of that. The food and service were amazing. All of the staff worked together, were very attentive to our needs and we were very impressed. We will definitely return.

Yelp
We recently moved back from Las Vegas and have enjoyed coming back to Rocco's. I love their deep dish baked lasagna so much that I get it almost every time. I pair it with the house Caesar salad and an order of garlic bread for the table. My wife had the Tilapia this last visit and loved it. They have a lot of menu options to explore. Their drink special was the Templeton Rye Old Fashioned and it was served with an ice ball. It was quite good

Yelp
It was lovely to sit on the patio today and enjoy the warm spring air under the big trees. My chicken limonata was delicious, and I loved the string beans and cheesy linguine that accompanied it. My server was awesome. I will definitely be back to try more dishes.
google avatar

Denise Y.

Yelp
I love that this local restaurant near my home has been around forever. It's most often busy so you need a reservation. We absolutely enjoyed our bruschetta appetizer and wine selection. Dinner was very good not fabulous. My husband enjoyed my Chicken Spiedini more than his Diablo. I enjoyed my Spiedini, but still wish there was a little less breading. In looking at our friends dishes I still felt they looked like heavy breading. I know we will be back, but will lean towards meals without the breading and/or the pizza.

Yelp
Mixed review. First time here. Was not able to get a reservation on a Thursday, so we went early. We were seated promptly. Drink order taken, waters brought. Food order taken shortly thereafter.Food came quickly. Garbage pizza was good. The cheese pizza for a child had way too much cheese. Could have choked him. No kids menu. The risotto was not risotto unfortunately. It was made with plain rice, not the usual short rice. No saffron flavor. The scallops were way overcooked. I let the server know. He said he'd let the chef know. I barely ate any of the dish. the spaghetti and meatballs looked awesome, so I will give it another try. Service was spotty after the initial service. There appeared to be plenty of servers, but server did not stop back to check on ordering another drink or to order dessert. We got another server to bring the dessert tray. We ordered, but it didn't come. Did eventually get it and the manager comped it, so that was nice.

Yelp
Service for carryout was nice. The food was mediocre however. Maybe it is better dine in? We also did not have any pasta which may be where this Italian spot shines.
google avatar

Cassie R.

Yelp
I'm Italian and this place does not even touch on real Italian food! Plus, small portions for the price! I cannot believe that the meals do not even come with bread. Not impressed! Not at all!
google avatar

Olivia T.

Yelp
Definitely one of my favorite places, the food is always so good and the servers are so nice. The restaurant is lovely all in all!
google avatar

Tashana H.

Yelp
The food was very presentable and delicious. The service was fast and I love that the waitress was so sweet and kind . We were seated near the window which I enjoyed and surprisingly around 4 it wasn't very crowded. The restaurant was clean and the tables were clean as well. I would definitely come back here again.
google avatar

Amanda H.

Yelp
When we arrived to the restaurant it was busy but the wait wasn't too long. We were seated after waiting about 10 minutes. However when we were seated we waited about 15-20 minutes before we were served. The server was friendly. The restaurant was low lit and had a nice ambiance. The food here was delicious and the portions were great. I would recommend getting a reservation before coming. Overall, this would be a nice casual date or dinner location.

Lydia S.

Yelp
Cute dinner spot with solid food and drinks. More on the casual side for Italian but loved the cocktails.
google avatar

Heather R.

Yelp
Really good food. Love the atmosphere. It's cozy and romantic but not stuffy. I felt fine in casual dress. Risotto is amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
Eating at Rico's was our first time we took a friend from out of town with us. We had lasagna and two of us had the manicotti with meat sauce. It was delicious. We ordered side of bread at the servers suggestion and it was fantastic. We will go back again.
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Good food, great service and the food had a ton of flavor. The Caesar salad was great, and our meals were very good. Lastly, the chocolate cake dessert was the best part of the night.

Bob S.

Yelp
Recently dined at Ricco's on a Wednesday evening around 7 pm. I had mushroom risotto with Scallops. It was excellent! My wife ordered Chicken Spedini. Chicken had a crusty grilled coating instead of a olive oil, light breading, baked coating and linguine pasta. She did not care for her meal. Should have told the server when it was brought to table. Italian wine was excellent. It was pretty crowded but we were seated immediately and our server was very good.

Carlos M.

Yelp
Another good experience with food where you can taste the flavors in every bite I recommend to try the tilapia dish is super good You will not be disappointed about the service I can assure you that, is excellent The feeling of being in a Italian restaurant eating good food, good wine and being surrounded by great people turns the atmosphere to a good place to visit again
google avatar

Karen R.

Yelp
Great food! Love the calamari appetizer, mushroom risotto was one of the best I've tried.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
The lasagna with meat sauce was mediocre at best. The house salad was excellent with Italian dressing. The person who served us did the best she could but we received our lasagna before we had time to finish half our salad. Also didn't get my wife's order correct so had to eat at different times. The restaurant is very nice but you are eating with people waiting for a table standing around your table.
google avatar

Jill L.

Yelp
Amazing food, relaxed ambiance, wonderful service. Absolutely must have the Sonoma Tart as an appetizer.
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
We had dinner tonight at Ricco's in OP. Dinner was delicious as usual and the service was amazing! Our server was Jeremy. He has been with Ricco's for 12 years. I commented on how loyal he was to be employed for so long and he said that most employees had been there a long time. That says a lot for the restaurant! Very impressive! This restaurant has been a local mainstay for as long as I can remember. I recommend Ricco's! Ask for Jeremy!!! Cindy

Hattie G.

Yelp
Owner is extremely unprofessional and unpleasant. Unfortunate that she rushed us out, when our server was delightful. I will not be back, and I suggest you don't go.
google avatar

Jennifer F.

Yelp
We loved the environment and the patio area, it was perfect for a spring day! Service was great and food was great until we found our chicken was not thoroughly cooked (it had a raw/red middle center). The server immediately notified their manager and our meal was comped. I would return, but would suggest cutting up the chicken in advance before consuming.
google avatar

Makaio A.

Yelp
This is probably the best Italian food in Johnson county. It's a small restaurant but it's a nice environment to eat in. They have an outdoor patio. The mushroom risotto is definitely my favorite here. They have probably the best tiramisu in the county. I love getting the Italian Peroni beer here too. The breadsticks we're almost like a garlic loaf of bread, not so much what you typically think of for breadsticks. They were OK though. The prices are actually reasonable as well for what you get. I've gotten here for probably almost 20 years. It's under new management, but they have kept the same level of quality and standards. This is the type of place where you could fall in love with a Italian. The tables are small, though this is not really a place for a large group. I would not take more than four people to this restaurant. I have never had a bad experience here. It's always been a wonderful time.
google avatar

Taylor W.

Yelp
The food is spectacular. The service is always top-notch. And the atmosphere is quaint, cozy, and intimate. Great date night spot or a calm girl's night out spot!

Cassandra P.

Yelp
My family and I just had the most wonderful food and service at Ricco's. We had the calamari, basil tomato soup, Caesar Salad, BLT sandwich, chicken parmigiana, shrimp scampi, and shrimp/mushroom risotto. No one left dissatisfied. The restaurant clean and quaint and the staff attentive at all levels. I wish I could remember the name of our waitress so I could give her a direct shout out but she was a breath of fresh air from all the sub-par service experiences we've had lately. Thank you Ricco's for a wonderful evening with my family!

James B.

Yelp
Consistently very good. Our go to Italian neighborhood restaurant. Lasagna is especially good, starts vegetarian and if desired meat can be added (same with other baked pasta). Garlic bread is also a must. Haven't been as impressed with the pizza, but will try again. Good wine list and fantastic service. Ambiance is medium loud when busy, which is always.

Alaina H.

Yelp
We love Ricco's!! The food is always so good and their cannolis are amazing. Any time we have Italian food we come here. The only negative is there really isn't a place to wait inside before being seated.

Gina K.

Yelp
They always have amazing food and service. Their prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food you get. I'm from an Italian family and I highly recommend Ricco's! Also, you can't go wrong with their chocolate layered cake. You won't regret coming here!

Bart B.

Yelp
Love this neighborhood place!!! Great atmosphere owners are very pleasant and fun drinks. I love the pizza.

Keith L.

Yelp
I am very confused. Yelp says they are open until 11 PM. The door was locked and said open until 9 PM. Was I at the wrong place? I would like to try it!

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
Consistently good food and great service. Have only been here for lunch but would come back for dinner anytime!
