I’ve been on the hunt for good soul food in the Seattle proper area and my goodness was I absolutely pleased with this place. In a cute homey part of Madrona, you’ll find Richard’s Too Good. From the excellent and most friendly service to the actual food, everything was amazing. Not going to lie I came in solely because of the picture of the mac and cheese and let me tell you..it did NOT disappoint. Richard’s Too Good has gained themselves a new loyal customer.

The brisket was great! The wings were too smokey for my wife, but I liked them. The greens were very good though I would have liked more with my plate. The cornbread was sweet yet not like a cake. The owner knows his stuff!

Richard’s Too Good has literally been “too good” for me to pass by! I live down the street, and there have been times I wasn’t planning on stopping, but the amazing smell makes me change my mind! Their food is satisfying, comforting, and made with love, and the owners Richard and Lauren make everyone feel like a friend the moment they walk in. There’s such a warm, welcoming vibe. I’ve tried almost everything on the menu and every bite tastes like it was made just for me. It’s the kind of place that just makes you happy.

Exceptional. I got the ribs, greens and cornbread. The meat was perfectly smoked and seasoned. The greens were so good I wished I had just ordered 10 servings of those. This is the kind of rib where you can taste the excellent wood smoke and the meat pulls apart but not falls apart. I don't usually sauce the bbq but this sauce was also really good. Eating this food felt like watching Michael Jordan dunk on the baseline over half the other team.

A true treasure in the heart of Madrona! Do yourself a favor and get the hot links, the are flavorful with a good bite of spice without being overwhelming. Their scratch sauce is also SO DECLICIOUS! Reasonably priced, friendly service, and aptly named as "Richard's too good". I am already planning my next trip back!

Richards BBQ is indeed too good! Richard himself warmheartedly greeted me and explained the available options for ordering my meal. I tried the delicious chopped brisket, mac n’ cheese and collard greens plus the honey cornbread. Everything was amazing and the chopped brisket was moist, tender and had just the right hint of smoke flavor! If you love barbecue, stop on by and give it a try…They do catering too!

Popped in serendipitously when we walked by and happened to smell the scent of delicious smoked meats. I got just a little half-lb cup for my wife and I to try and it was great! I appreciate the use of applewood for a nice middle smoke profile, and mixing the point and flat meat made for an exceptionally balanced, crushable brisket. Sometimes brisket feels really heavy, but this dangerously well balanced and I'm sure I could have eaten way more than I should! Richard was a very nice guy, and we spent a good 10 minutes talking about BBQ and pit building. He learned welding to build his own pit and then worked with Renton technical college to get it fully built. I love the story of someone cooking great bbq on a pit they built themselves. Absolutely loved the brisket and will definitely plan to stop by for a plate for dinner next time I'm in Seattle.

Damn good bbq in Madrona! Definitely worth a day trip if you're in the mood for legit ribs and brisket. Sides were great as well. Richard was super friendly and you can tell he's put his heart and soul into this place. I got the ribs plate with mango slaw and Mac and cheese. I really wanted to try the brisket so added that to the plate. I was solo so have plenty of leftovers but for $25 this was plenty for 2 to share. I like the ribs the best. Soft and tender but didn't fall apart at the first bite. Top notch! Really didn't need any sauce, flavor was great. Also loved the mango slaw, it was a vinegar based slaw which I love. I'm not a mayo slaw fan. Sweet and sour cut through the fatty goodness of the meat.

The food is great here. All gluten free and super delicious. The ribs are absolutely delicious and the brisket is pre shredded and so yummy. Bbq sauce is sweet tangy with a pop. So good. Beans, collards, cornbread muffins, Mac and cheese are all delicious. I haven't tried the other sides yet! Highly recommend. And they cater. We got ribs for a party recently and everyone enjoyed them!

He was out of chicken and brisket. The ribs and collard greens were over-cooked. Ribs were dry and hard. Recently opened needs some time to get his act together. I'll give him a couple of months and try again.

Outstanding. The BBQ plate included two sides. The brisket was smoky and delicious. The mac n cheese was among the best I've had with perfectly crusty burnt ends. The owner was incredibly welcoming. Very friendly for those gluten free. The only downside is limited options for vegetarians. I'm thrilled they've opened as this will likely be my favorite restaurant in Madrona.
