The 18 Best Sports Bars In SF

"With multiple floors and TVs in every direction, there’s really not a bad seat at Richmond Republic Draught House. And no matter how big your group is, there always seems to be an available table. This sports bar in the Richmond feels more like a neighborhood clubhouse, attracting everyone with warm, welcoming service. Play some darts or pool while you’re at it, but order their pub food only in a pinch—it’s passable, but you’re better off sticking to the drinks." - lani conway, julia chen 1

What could have been a less-than-pleasant review has turned into a 4/5 stars for me thanks to one of the co-owners jumping in to take care of us. It was 1pm on a Saturday, we came in the server working told me to order at the bar if I wanted to sit outside. He didn't bother to mention that they're only serving the brunch menu and the hard copy menu I grabbed from a table didn't have dates/times specified for service hours. Turns out they're ONLY serving brunch at 1pm... and NONE of the items we wanted (including my starving toddler) were available. I'm super appreciative of the co-owner who followed us outside and offered to check in with the chef about food options. The kitchen made my kiddo mac 'n' cheese and salmon tacos, saving my sanity. This was completely unexpected and changed my perception of the restaurant. I'll be coming back, this time when they're serving the lunch/dinner menu so we can try everything else we wanted. Seating isn't great for kids who aren't tall enough for bar stools. There was one standard height table in the parklet and one inside.

The food was good. The Fries are one of the best ones we have tasted.

Google
Great vibe, great food, exactly what you want when going to a American typical sports-bar/comfort food place.

Google
Has a late lunch at about 2pm on Sunday. The mushroom Swiss burger was great and the fries were amazing. One person in our party tried to order poutine and a few other things from the lunch and dinner menu but kept getting denied because they didn't make it at that hour? Please make a clearer, easy to understand menu.

Google
Fantastic food and huge selection of beers, + ciders/kambucha and wine. Cosy sports bar atmosphere in the heart of Richmond that has easy access and surprising gems in the menu such as shishito peppers, fried brussel sprouts and salmon tacos... above all, Philly chese steak sandwich was definitely worth a second visit which I did in my short visit to SF. Highly recommended!!!!

Google
Great bar with lots of craft beer options, sports playing on TV at all angles, and delicious food. Definitely not your average bar food, much much more than that. They were out of the Cajun shrimp for the spicy shrimp Mac n cheese so they replaced it with my request of chicken and bacon and it was delicious! I'm sure you can order it like that instead of the Cajun shrimp if you like.

Google
FYI, This is a QR code place, so you don’t get any direct service and bus your own table. Went here w my bf for a late lunch. Drinks were nice, but food was a bit disappointing esp considering the price. Bf liked his sandwich, but the fried chicken one I got had almost no flavor. They were also slammed w/ what looked like only two guys working so food took a bit to come out and then we had to wait some more additional time after that for the drinks. Nice location to sit outside, people watch, and enjoy the weather though.

Google
We stopped by here today and had some wonderful food. The service was great specially by our waitstaff, Liam. We got bottomless mimosas along with the poutine and Mac & cheese. Would definitely come back!!

Yelp
A lot to like. Neighborhood bar, real wood bar top. A really good beer list. I had not been in five years and Jason remembered me. Count me in.

Yelp
Came here after a long hike at Lands End and they had some seating near the window so we were able to be seated immediately. Service was quick -- they came over to ask if we needed any drinks and later asked for our order. I got a burger and fries. They made sure everyone's order came at the same time so no one was left waiting. Burger was cooked well and I don't know how they fry their fries but it was crispy on the outside and had just enough bite on the inside.

Yelp
I've been here before for brunch on the weekends but recently came on a weekday and the food was really disappointing. Mac n cheese: The shrimp was good but the cheese sauce was so flavorless. The entire thing came out barely warm and swimming in liquidy cheese sauce. Philly cheese steak: The garlic tots were tasty but the cheese steak was also barely warm. There was barely any cheese as well. Nachos with steak (not pictured): This came out cold. The steak was cold and the cheese sauce was cold. It was not good at all. Not sure what happened with this visit but the food was pretty much cold and not good at all. The brunch menu is way better but I don't plan on returning anytime soon.

Yelp
Came for the beers, stayed for the food! Richmond Republic Draught House has a wide selection of craft beers that rotates every so often and delicious pub food. This establishment is very spacious offering tables for larger groups and numerous seats at the bar. There's even a second floor if you prefer a more personal setting away from the crowd. The garlic fries DEFINITELY stole the show. The fries were crispy and had the perfect amount of garlic. Surprisingly, it was the most memorable item from my visit. We substituted regular french fries for garlic fries with our Garlic Bacon Burger order. The burger was good, no complaints at all. We also ordered the Spicy Shrimp Mac & Cheese. So creamy and delicious. They gave us a generous portion of shrimp as well. The spicy Cajun flavor worked so well with the Mac n cheese; it inspired me to add chili crisp oil to my mac & cheese moving forward. Our server was super personable and funny. I appreciate the positive energy he brought every time he checked in on us despite it being almost closing time.

Yelp
This cozy pub in Inner Richmond is a gem! They offer an amazing selection of craft beers, especially IPAs, which we love. They often have tap takeover events, so there's always something new to try. The food is superior to average bar food. I've tried every burger on the menu, and they're all phenomenal--each one comes with your choice of a fresh side salad or perfectly crispy tater tots. The Philly cheesesteak is another favorite, with just the right amount of spice and flavor. Fair pricing as well - a night out that won't break the bank. One of the biggest highlights? Their breakfast burritos. As SoCal natives from OC/LA, we have high standards for a good breakfast burrito, and this is hands-down the best we've had in the city. It's so authentic and delicious that we never remember to snap a picture! The atmosphere here is warm and welcoming, thanks to the super friendly servers who now feel like familiar friends. We come here weekly (sometimes twice!), and it's become our "third place"--like the neighborhood pubs you'd find in England. Perfect for catching a game too, with lots of good seating options. If you're looking for great beer, even better food, and a welcoming vibe, this is the spot.

Yelp
This is our go-to neighborhood bar for an amazing selection of draft beers, plenty of TVs for watching the games, and even some really solid food. I'm almost always here for dinner where my favorites are the cheesesteak and garlic confit burger (don't forget the tots on the side) but they also serve up killer brunch into the later afternoon. Featured in this post is homefry skillet which is my personal fav brunch dish and I really want to come back for the bottomless mimosas sometime. The Service is iffy sometimes but you can always go and order at the register.

Yelp
I've ordered from here before. It's quick, generally really good. But I ordered chicken strips most recently. And I think it's fair to say that we all sort of imagine the same thing when we order chicken strips (aka, chicken tenders, chicken fingers). This is what I got. To be fair, these are strips of chicken. It came with tots. I kind of feel like the item description should have been "tots with side of 4 pieces of slicked chicken salad topper". The take out container was FILLED with tots. And then this sadness on top. This seems disingenuous at BEST. But $14, really??? (The two stars is because the other food I've had from here was quite good and large portions.)

Yelp
Walked by and needed a brew and grub. Pleasant surprise!! Great beer.. Got the moonlight and the burger with side salad. You order at the bar and find a seat...food came right away. Server and cashier were both very kind and attentive. Family friendly environment with room for groups of friends and nice size TVs surround the restaurant. Seating outside available but we opted inside. Delicious FOOD and again... a wonderful meal, great clean environment and not too difficult to find parking. We will be back

Yelp
Went over here on the weekend to watch the Bay FC (womens soccer team) game vs Angel City there was a ton of people and the atmosphere was amazing. There is an upstairs place where there is tons of TVs to watch the game and hang out with friends. The service here is quick and accommodating we didn't order any drinks nor food though because we had a late lunch right before the game. The food they serve looks quite good as the couple sat next to us ordered Mac and cheese and wings def come stop by order some food and drinks here.

Yelp
Amazing crew, great classic burgers/ fries, and wonderful place to grab a pint while enjoying a game. The ambience is easy going. Shoutout to Corey and the guy with the beanie. Owners must be proud having a great team to carry out a local business in a dying city. Please support this neighbourhood gem.

Yelp
A favorite place to stop on Clement Street in San Francisco. Great beers on tap. Very friendly staff. Generally cool crowd at the bar and dining tables too. They even have an extended upstairs seating area, as well as limited outside seating. They always have an amazing selection of beers on tap. Always changing. The folks behind the bar have got the inside scoop on all of it and can help with all the choices. They have a good menu too. I always like the tater tots. They were good chicken sandwich as well. It's a good neighborhood bar restaurant. Wish it was in my neighborhood!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite bars in the neighborhood - amazing bartenders. The only thing missing is MOZZARELLA STICKS!!
google avatar

Larry K.

Yelp
Casual and relaxing place, but today was my last time. No napkins/utensils until after the food arrived, so we waited while it all cooled, and it wasn't that hot to begin with. The Po Boy's shrimp coating fell off of every single shrimp except one that was jammed into the bread. I had to scoop up the (cornmeal?) coating and put it into the sandwich with the too few and small but okay tasting shrimp. The bread was okay. Bright spot was the house salad. Others liked their chicken strips and burgers. The cheesesteak I had last time wasn't good. Service is inconsistent.

Yelp
This is a nice big place with choices of family seating, bar seating, alone with a view from upstairs! Very adorable place. I dropped by for a beer, and saw all the choices, so I decided to try a cider! It was delicious and less bubbly than beer! The staff were very busy, but cordial & nice. They seemed attentive if you're ordering food! Glad they care very much! The food I saw looked great! Next time! Clean restrooms!!! Street parking!

Yelp
We came in here to finish a Thursday night before heading back to Santa Clara. Kitchen was open and we were hungry (it was about 9:30pm I think). Wife ordered the caprese sandwich and I had a burger and fries and a chocolate stout. No pix as we devoured our food. 2days later and wife was still mentioning best caprese sandwich ever. I quite liked my burger and fries. Good place to come with some friends you want to hang a bit with. Cheers!

Yelp
A solid neighborhood beer joint, and I appreciate they are keeping their parklet open. When the tall guy with the beard is there, all runs smoothly. When he's not, it's less good. Tried to organize a larger group outing here; emailed and called twice to update numbers, etc. Got there and - nothing ready. We set up some tables ourselves and it worked out ok. Service wasn't over-attentive, only saw two workers for a 50% full room. I asked for the fan to be turned on for air circulation but 30' it was switched off, no explanation why. I don't think any of this bothered anyone else in the group, but then they weren't in charge of organizing.

Yelp
Richmond Republic was such a fun pub to get drinks and food in the Richmond District. The decor was cute and modern with a nice outdoor seating area. The food menu was huge, has all your classic pub food like burgers, sandwiches, nachos, etc. I tried the elote Mac and cheese and it was one of the best Mac and cheeses I've ever had! Had some cayenne pepper for some spice, and a great cheese sauce with bits of corn for a nice crunch. The portion was huge and I was only able to get through half of it. I loved also loved their drinks, it was $10 for a cocktail which tasted like a fresh mango juice. Would come back here again if I'm in the area!

Yelp
Best fries in the city! Philly was great. We got here right when they opened and had great service. Coming back for Dinner soon.

Yelp
We had a great time at the Richmond Republic Draught House eating, drinking and watching Monday night football! The burgers and fries were great, the beer and cider selection extensive and the customer service is outstanding! Two of us had burgers with fries or tater tots and one had the Korean fried chicken sandwich with a salad. A huge plus as they have GLUTEN FREE BUNS!!!!! All of the dishes were delicious! The food came out very quickly. For drinks, two of us had the Pliny the Elder and I had the Mission Trail Plum Cider. I liked that the plum cider was not too sweet. We all had a refill. For Round 3, one person had the Pliny the Elder again, the other person had the Lucky Devil Mango Sour and I had my 3rd plum cider. Since I didn't have to work the next day, I had another plum cider (4). They are yummy!! We enjoyed talking to the bartender who was also a 49er fan also. All the servers, bartenders, employees are very cordial, exude excellent customer service and are truly nice people. The atmosphere is very welcoming. There is an upstairs area you can book for your parties. I attended two staff holiday parties here in the past. They are very easy to work with regarding having enough food for our group, I definitely will return again. Such a fun place!

Yelp
Jason, Rob, and Liam are all amazing! This is my local bar and I love come here but two things. First off they need mozzarella sticks and second I really wish they took cash!

Yelp
Really cool local sports bar. I was looking for somewhere to watch the Warriors game on Sunday and this fit the bill. The beer was great and the beertenders were really friendly. My kind of people. The crowd moved in and out and so did the crowds. I'd imagine they are much busier on 49ers days, but the crowd became pretty Warriors-prone towards the end of the game, it could've been the timing of the game (5:30 p.m. game). They have a full food menu, but note they took off the wings. I gave the chicken tenders and tots a try, but it was too salty. I wouldn't recommend it. Their spicy mayo or dip was superb though. There was plenty of other options on the menu I could've ordered and even fries so I don't hold it against them though. Tons of seating on the first floor, outside, and even an upstairs area for larger groups too. Plugs too so you can keep your phone charged. Hooks for bags. Nice touch. I'd return! Might soon.

Yelp
Great place for casual fare and outdoor seating. Hamburgers and the cheesesteak sandwich are our go-to choices. Enjoy trying their various offerings of beers and ciders.
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
I was craving a burger on memorial day weekend and we came here on Saturday night around 6:30 and it was empty. For some reason - I did not get a burger, but got a cheesesteak - which was very good/greasy/soft roll and served with very crispy tater tots. Now I still need to find a hamburger this weekend, sigh...
google avatar

Sherry B.

Yelp
The cheeseburger & tater tots here are perfection! Also love the chicken strips and cheese steak. Our server couldn't have been lovelier and recommended the house mustard to our mustard-loving kid and it was a huge hit. We brought my SIL & BIL in town from LA a few weeks ago and they raved about the nachos, too! Fun, relaxed spot in the neighborhood for families and sports-watching. It's a family favorite for us!
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
I like their parklet a lot. I can sit outside and keep an eye on my locked bicycle. It is always fun to watch people walk by and sometimes I run into old friends. Richmond Republic has a chill vibe and is clean. The bar was mostly empty on Sunday at 11am. They have a big selection of beers on tap. The bartender is friendly and did a good job with my pour.
google avatar

Danielle C.

Yelp
Great and friendly service, solid good food and watch the game. Highly recommend if in the neighborhood.

David P.

Yelp
Excellent food! This was a surprise as we just happened upon it one day after shopping at Green Apple Books. Great casual sports bar atmosphere and, wow, did I mention the food? I had the Mango Habanero fried chicken sandwich which was deliciously spicy. The fries are amazing. Great service too. Will be back!
google avatar

Bryan L.

Yelp
This place has been on my list of bars to check out simply for its variety and location in the Richmond. I came one night for their early release of pliny the younger. It was packed as usual for the demand of this IPA. Service is really friendly and extremely helpful. There will always be staff ready to help you out or take your order. They recommended a blueberry sour which my friends liked. The bartender also recommended the space cats ipa to compare with pliny and it was pretty good. Their selection rotates quite often and so you'll always have something new to try. Atmosphere is somewhat loud but not too crazy. The mezzanine is a little calmer and doesn't have as many people milling around. Generally positive vibes all around. I did not order food but it smelled amazing so I'll have to come back again to try it. Would recommend this place to people who like beers.
google avatar

Lisa X.

Yelp
What I like about this bar is that their food is actually pretty delicious. I like that I can order through a QR code at their table, pay, and get my food and drinks rather quickly. There was one time when the food took forever (more than 45 minutes), but that was abnormal, as they are usually pretty quick. Burgers are really good here. The tater tots are super yummy! I really like their salads and burritos also. They have a great selection of beers! Dog friendly also which is a big plus!
google avatar

Anjuli D.

Yelp
Great food and great service! Best little hidden gem in the Richmond District. Cory is awesome too!

Nicole ..

Yelp
Best salad anywhere - go for the chopped - and a pleasure to find a great meal size salad in a bar of all places! Skip the bougie salad places for truly great options at a fair price, especially if you want a beer to go with your salad. Also, nice staff and I don't feel awkward going in alone.

Lime Cat W.

Yelp
fast service and cheap food it was delicious and the soda pop is really good also nice outdoor seating
google avatar

Skott C.

Yelp
A very sizable establishment- not only is there outdoor seating but a top floor as well . Features every beer known to man and a very impressive sour selection. Efficient and friendly service and just an over all pleasant atmosphere. Giant screen tvs but the sound is off a the music selection quite good . There is a full and regal food menu every thing from salmon tacos to chili . My favorite is the shrimp po boy which has a very tasty batter , high quality bread and a great sauce . Choice of side but the fries are quite good here. Pricey but highly recommended!!!!
google avatar

Andrew R.

Yelp
Some of the best food on Clement St. Not your typical bar food. Lots of tvs, great beer selection and a mezzanine with pool table. Good for sports or just lunch/dinner.
google avatar

Evan W.

Yelp
Time for a wake up call! Came in Sunday night watching football Beer selection 5* Staff 5* Food 2* They were out of buns but didn't mention it to me until I ordered They were out of bratwurst but didn't tell my friend until after he ordered The Burger was overcooked, the bun was stale, and for some reason they forgot to include toppings on my burger. I'll continue to drop by here for beer but never again for food.
google avatar

Calvin C.

Yelp
I always pass by this bar while grocery shopping on Clement. When I finally entered it with friends, I was surprised by how large the interior is. The bar has a wooden rustic vibe to it, and it's well lit and quite clean. They have a nice selection of beers on tap and a second floor game area. Pretty chill bar to hangout, and while my friends and I didnt get any food, we caught many tantalizing scents. Overall great place to chill and hangout!
google avatar

Meghana G.

Yelp
Great spot to grab beer and snacks. Their fries are really good & they have a pretty extensive list of beverages (mostly beer obviously ) to choose from.
google avatar

Christine F.

Yelp
Waiting staff was awkward as hell and I'm pretty sure didn't he didn't hear us right. Additionally, the side of tater tots was more of a sprinkling... but other than that everything was great! We thought we ordered wings but got what seemed like chicken strips instead; they were tasty just not what we wanted. The Korean fried chicken sandwich was really good, and I'd come back just for that. Also got a couple drinks, which we already knew we'd enjoy so nothing to complain about with those.
google avatar

Gina W.

Yelp
My neighbors and I had a gift card (We won a contest, and we worked hard!) Excited to try this hopping pub and chow down on some filling grub. Told them about our precious gift card, told us no QR ordering, order at the bar. I think some big game was on the tv they were more interested in that than me. What follows is a sad series of fumbles which cost lots of time and produced grumbles. It was truly a mess, the way we were served it was annoying and not deserved. Things forgotten, orders erased clear disdain on their face. Food was fine, standard fare, but if you have a gift card, beware.

Rheanna S.

Yelp
Consistently delicious. The cheese steak is the best I've ever had. The cheese tots are shockingly good. Highly recommend.

Richard S.

Yelp
Best crispy chicken sandwich in San Francisco. The Yardbird. Friendly staff, great music. Good place to watch a game.
google avatar

Daniela J.

Yelp
Great neighborhood spot for solid bar food, good draft beer list, excellent music, quick service. Not a destination pet se but perfect for being on the way back from a day at ocean beach. We ordered the Philly cheesesteak and the buffalo chicken sandwich. Philly cheesesteak was sooo good, way better than expected and preferred this one. The fries are definitely deep fried and crispy. For covid, I was able to witness them wiping down each table and chair fully between seatings, servers wearing masks, menus only available online etc so protocols were great. The music was one of my favorite parts as it was all old school hip hop when we were there and it just made it all around a great vibe. I would definitely come back.
google avatar

John P.

Yelp
Stopped on our way to SFO. It was very busy but we easily found a seat. Quick service. Food is pretty average bar food but we had no complaints. Good selection of beers
google avatar

J A.

Yelp
Fabulous salads, great place for a burger, and some nice wines on tap for non beer drinkers. Solid parklet for dining outside on sunny days in the hood. Service is super friendly!
google avatar

Ewa U.

Yelp
The picture is a little blurry- but I wanted to give a general overview of ambiance and food. Burger was great: I got the bacon burger w tots. YUM Great selection of beer (and rose) for a game day -day or night- time drink w friends. Lots of TVs w upstairs and down stairs seating. Outdoor available As well. You'll likely be able to pull up a seat and join another group if full. Nestled on clement street, this little brewery is a chill place to hang w locals , exchange some laughs, eat some good bar food, and of course - have at it with ample beer on tap.

Yelp
Paraphrasing Marcus Aurelius (via Hannibal Lechter): "Of each particular thing, ask: What is its nature?" This is how I feel about Richmond Republic Draught House. This is a beer joint, an establishment with a collection of beer that is both large enough for you to find something you really like, but constrained enough for you to not get lost (or hopelessly drunk) looking for something you really like. You might come here for dinner (as I often have), but if you do, you should recognize that while they have a reasonable menu, the food is not (or should not be) your reason for coming. That said, after frequenting this establishment several times and sampling the menu, I have found what I will order every subsequent time I come here: the birria quesadlilla and the fried Brussels sprouts. The former is well constructed and firm with good flavor and heat; the latter is all that you would expect from fried veggies (i.e., the tastiest way to get your veggies for the day, even if in this case it's a little heavy on the oil). I've not yet been here for brunch, but I intend to. You probably should, too. But don't plan on driving back. It is, after all, a beer joint.

Yelp
Came here last Friday around 8pm and it was PACKEDD. Like no room to even stand packed. Did not know this pub was this crowded. Asked the server is it always like this, he says some weekends are crazy and some are slow. So gotta take your chances and maybe grab a drink or two while waiting for your table. FOOD: Fried chicken wings $15/10 and 2 flavors. (5/5) got the buffalo wings with blue cheese dressing on the side and lemon pepper. Both were amazing! You def can't go wrong with the wings here. Pickled veggies $5 (3/5) The veggies were asparagus, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and Brussels. A good variety but they were just too pickled if you know what I mean. Yardbird sandwich/burger $14 (4/5) the chicken was crispy and full of meat but the bun was a bit soggy. Matterhorn burger $16 (5/5) YOU GOTTA GET THIS. It was so good with the mushrooms and grilled onions . So much flavor to this burger and get it with the fries!
