"Of course Rick’s (which is under the same ownership as Harvest) does a magnificent steak, but there’s so much more to explore on the menu here. It’s an excellent brunch spot, and well-known for it’s excellent fried chicken. Whatever you do, do not skip the dessert menu." - Courtney E. Smith, Leslie Chatman

From the moment we stepped into Rick's Chop House, we knew we were in for a treat. The ambiance was warm and inviting, perfect for a family dinner. We chose to dine on the patio, where the weather was absolutely perfect, allowing us to enjoy a delightful evening of people-watching in the square. To start, we indulged in the crab cake appetizer, which was a true standout! The cakes were packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. For our mains, I opted for the prime rib cooked medium rare, and it was simply divine, tender, juicy, and full of flavor, paired beautifully with perfectly seasoned potatoes and grilled veggies. My husband chose the porterhouse, also medium rare, and he was equally impressed; the meat was cooked just right, with a delicious sear and excellent flavor. Our son couldn't get enough of the mac and cheese, which was creamy and comforting, making it a hit at the table. We also enjoyed some delightful Mexican corn, which added a unique twist to our meal. Overall, Rick's Chop House exceeded our expectations. The combination of delicious food, fantastic service, and a lovely atmosphere made for an unforgettable evening. We can't wait to return!

We came here to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and it was a great choice! The restaurant had a very romantic feel, even though it was busy. Everyone was super friendly and made us feel welcome. Our waiter recommended some dishes, and we ordered the Elk and the Buffalo Tenderloin. The Elk was amazing—1000/10! It came with mushrooms and was unlike anything I’ve ever had. I’d come back just for that. The Buffalo Tenderloin was also good, but not as special. They even gave my wife a complimentary dessert for her birthday, which was really nice. Overall, a great night with great food and service. We’ll definitely be back!

Rick’s Chophouse is now our new favorite restaurant! They gave us such an unforgettable evening and we were so thankful! We are moving to Texas in a few weeks and came down for a house hunting trip. We were blown away by the amazing food, attentive and extreme sweet waitress (Carlie is the best!) and the relaxing and beautiful atmosphere. Thank you for an unforgettable night for our whole family! This was the best place we ate, well ever!

I have eaten at Rick’s Chophouse for the past 4 years. For the past 3 years, I have celebrated my anniversary here and enjoyed the free dessert treat they offer. I recently celebrated my 20th anniversary here, had the shrimp and grits with a spicy margarita, which was delicious. I have also tried their brunch which is one of my favorite things from this restaurant. It is definitely a place where I will continue dining for memorable moments.

My daughter took me to dinner last night. This was my first time at this restaurant even though I've lived in McKinney for 21 years. My daughter has been here before and she knew I would like it, I love a good steak dinner. I didn't realize she had told them that we were celebrating me being cancer free. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last May and recently completed treatment. I have to say it's probably one of the best meals I've had! We started with the Crab Cake appetizer, I had the Filet with green beans and potatoes. My daughter had the NY Strip with Spinach and potatoes. Afterwards, they brought me the Rustic Apple Pie with Bourbon ice cream. I have not one negative thing to say. It could not have been a better experience.

Google
It's fine Texan restaurant with good variety of cuisines. Stake house, fine bbq place. Food is fresh and delicious. Not regular Texas portion though 😉. A bit pricy but makes up the quality and atmosphere. It's a quiet, dimmed light ambience inside for maybe romantic date night. Indoor and outdoor seating. Better to secure a table by reservation. Service was responsive and quick. Accessible with flat entry and wide routes. Not good for kids for sure. Good for couples, date nights, small groups and gathering.

Came on snow day. They were open. Great old building and decor. Great food and service. Came back for lunch this week and it was even more amazing. Had the fried chicken. I would order this just for the mexican corn. Sarah is my favorite server. Ask for her.

Google
I would recommend Ricks for any occasion!! Great food, amazing waitress and staff!! We were so impressed with everything! Celebrating our 30th anniversary. Everyone told us happy anniversary. Personalized happy 30th dessert plates! Rick gave us 2 complementary desserts!! Will definitely go back

Yelp
My husband and I just LOVE Rick's! The food is always amazing, the service is superb. The ambience is nice. My hubby got the NY Strip with baked potato. Said it was really good. I got the Filet. The filet was very tender and had good flavor. It was cooked a bit more then what I like, but delicious all the same. I got whipped potatoes and broccolini. Delicious!! Had the pleasure of having two Tx Pecan old fashions. The bartender is a genius. Absolutely delicious. Fun to mess with too.

Yelp
I recently visited Rick's Chophouse for a nice steak dinner out. I came in with high expectations from the reviews I have read, as well as the reputation I have heard about. The prices were on par with an average steakhouse but, I was still left feeling a little let down after my experience here. We began with the escargot appetizer which was one of my favorite parts of the dinner. It was rich with garlic and a baguette which helped balance it out. Additionally, I appreciated the little touch of the waitress providing us with smaller spoons to scoop out the escargot onto our baguette slices. Next, for our entrees, we both ordered steaks, as pictured below. The steaks were requested at medium rare and medium well, however they were rare and medium rare. We asked out waitress about the undercooked nature of the steaks and she said that sometimes the lighting outdoors can make them present as though they are more rare. I really wanted to believe this but we really did not want the undercooked state of the steaks, for both food safety and preference reasons. She ended up bringing the steaks back to the kitchen and a manager came to check in with us. He said that they will use a meat thermometer and recook the steaks. He also provided us with complimentary watermelon mint sorbet which was actually our favorite thing we ate here. The steaks came out again and they were now at the correct doneness. We enjoyed them along with the au gratin potatoes and garlic whipped golden potatoes. The whipped potatoes were another favorite of the night, but the au gratin were average and actually got cold pretty quickly. Overall, the waitstaff and manager were all very accommodating and helpful during our dinner. They even ended up taking the steaks off of the bill. We tipped them the difference and thanked them for making our experience better despite the situation with the steaks. I appreciate the staff and the wonderful job they did to help correct the error, but I still have to only give this place 3 stars. For the price of the dishes, the experience did not unfortunately live up. The quality was not as high as we expected and truthfully we have had better steaks at other restaurants. We will probably choose a different steakhouse to visit on our next night out for steaks. Thank you!

Yelp
If you're craving a breakfast experience that's as exciting as watching paint dry, look no further than Rick's Chophouse Sunday buffet brunch! You'll marvel at the sheer mediocrity of the food, with everything seemingly seasoned by a ghost whispering "boo" from afar. But fear not, the smoked salmon and fried catfish shine like beacons of hope in this sea of blandness. Feeling fancy? Indulge in a single glass of champagne that'll make your sweet tooth ache in protest. And if you're lucky enough to score a cup of coffee, cherish it like a rare gem because there's apparently a worldwide coffee shortage happening right at Rick's. But the real adventure begins before you even take your first bite. Arrive promptly at 10 am as instructed, only to find yourself in a vacuuming symphony, yes they were still cleaning and vacuuming as we all arrived, surrounded by other confused souls waiting for their tables. It was also dead silent which added to the awkwardness. So, if you're in the mood for an awkwardly quiet brunch where the vacuum cleaner provides the entertainment, Rick's Chophouse is the place to be! Just don't forget to bring your own salt and pepper shakers for flavor emergencies.

Yelp
Sweet little steakhouse, right inside the amazing Grand Hotel in the middle of downtown McKinney Texas. We had shrimp and grits, filet mignon with mashed potatoes and green beans, and the crabcake for appetizer. Everything was wonderful! The service was excellent! The restaurant was clean, well organized, and contained beautiful fresh flowers. Come early and visit the downtown shops, have a drink in the bar at the historic grand hotel, then dine at Rick's.

Kristin J.

Yelp
Very good service and food. We enjoyed the Elk and the Pork Chop, the flavors and side pairings were perfect!

Kimberly H.

Yelp
Well, I had been to the bar before a few times for a cocktail and I had been to a private wine dinner, but I had never eaten dinner there with a reservation. I made reservations for 12 people and I had two extra people show up. The staff went over and beyond expectations to add two people to our group at the last minute. I have never been so impressed. Our server took care of 14 people with separate checks. The service was excellent. The food was excellent. Everyone had a fantastic time. Ricks made me look like a rockstar as the host of our group. We will definitely go back. I am a fan!

Greg H.

Yelp
Sad we had not come here sooner. We moved to McKinney two years ago and many told us about Rick's. Due to our poor planning and reservations we never pulled it off. Made reservations about a week out and could not be more thrilled with the food and overall experience. Originally went with the idea of having a nice ribeye but after reading about the buttermilk fried chicken I went for it. I was overly pleased and thrilled with the taste, flavor and portions. It comes with a creamed corn and mashed potatoes for sides. The potatoes were full of flavor with bacon, cheese and so creamy. The onion rings were out of this world and did not disappoint either. I could have eaten just onion rings. The fried chicken was cooked perfectly and the perfect crisp. Wife went with the blackened salmon and also raves about the unique flavor and taste. For dessert we went with the apple pie. It was a one of a kind dessert and also super amazing. The service was super attentive. Wrapping up our meal we were greeted by the owner Rick. He takes pride in his place and super personable. This was an amazing experience and we will definitely return.

Yelp
My best friend and her fiancé brought us here a few months back for my husband's birthday dinner. All my time in McKinney, I have yet to come to Rick's. Finally it happened. We started off with the ahi tuna and the escargot. The escargot was really delicious; prepared amazingly with great flavor. The ahi tuna was good.... But there was something with the combination of flavors that I wasn't crazy about. We also got the watermelon salad and if you like watermelon definitely get this. Probably one of my favorite salads I've had. The combination of flavors and the sorbet with the mint and the chunks of fruit, it was nicely put together. Loved this. For dinner I was going between the elk and the bison; I chose the bison per the waitress' recommendation but I wish I would've went with the elk. The bison was just ehhhh.... Cooked great but the flavors were ehhh.... The sauce wasn't my jam. My husband got the filet and it was delicious. Definitely what I was expecting in the steak. Our waitress was great; presentation was beautiful, portion to price was what normal nice steak houses charge. The interior of this place is very old school swanky and I'm here for it. I definitely will come back to try all the seafood options.

Mary Lynn J.

Yelp
The food at Rick's is fabulous. I had the tortilla soup along with the crab dip. My husband had the butternut squash soup and the salmon. WOWZA. Our waitress was wonderful, patient and cheerfully explained some of the dishes. Rick's is a great place. The set up is fun. There is valet parking but it is not directly in front of the restaurant but around the corner.

Yelp
Let me start off my saying the service here is phenomenal. We went here to celebrate my bday with my two littles and our server was SO attentive and nice and made us feel so special. If this review was just on service it would get 5 stars easily. But unfortunately the food left a lot to be desired. Here's what ordered and my honest opinions: Filet- 1/5 it was actually inedible in my opinion, under seasoned and over cooked. We ordered medium rare and it came out closer to medium well and was dry and tough. So disappointing. And no, they did not take it off the bill even though they knew we were unsatisfied. Lobster - 5/5 perfectly cooked Mac n cheese -4/5 good but nothing special, my son liked it and that's all that matters Fries- 4/5 better than they look. Crispy and nice texture and flavor. Crabcake - 3/5 good, but not great. Lots of crab meat, crispy on the outside, but the sauce was meh and I'm not huge on corn. Wedge salad- 4/5 good classic wedge Pecan pie - 4/5 hubby loved it Creamed spinach - 3.5/5 good but I can make a better one at home Scalloped potatoes- 2/5 ok...sauce was a bit watery and bland. For "fine dining", we were disappointed in the food. That being said, we still had a great experience bc of our server and we sat outside and downtown McKinney is so charming. But there are plenty of other places on the square for that.

Tommy C.

Yelp
Big fan of Rick's in downtown McKinney. The food is always spot on and the service is attentive and friendly. I like how they have a lounge area that looks like a speakeasy to have some food, they have a formal dining room as well as a large patio area for when the weather is nice. My trip this time had me eating one of my favorite dishes they have, fried chicken, and my girlfriend had the roasted cauliflower on risotto. They were just so delicious.

Nick M.

Yelp
My wife and I had lunch while visiting McKinney during the Texas Music Revolution Festival. Everything was top-notch. When ordering I had mentioned to waiter my wife & I were going to share the watermelon salad. Without asking they split and served on two plates. I didn't even ask for that and I know that creates more work but it was so appreciated! My wife enjoyed a tender perfectly cooked steak & eggs. I had a bite and it was great. I had a great club on tasty bread with house made chips. All staff encountered were super friendly. Prices were reasonable and if we lived closer to McKinney we'd be regulars for sure!

Chad J.

Yelp
Had some friends in town so wanted a nice place and this seemed to fit the bill. Overall not bad but just not outstanding like many reviews claim. Fried Chicken was amazing, but the Seabass was not very good and the appetizers we had were just average. My wife's filet was not seasoned well but was cooked perfectly. For the price there are just so many better options in my opinion, the fried chicken is the only reason it gets 4 stars.

Rob T.

Yelp
Ok, it took me over twenty years to get here, but I finally tried Rick's Chophouse for an anniversary dinner. If you have a reservation, don't plan on seating even a few minutes early.... They WILL make you wait until your appointed time. The place looks very classy inside. Our food was good, although I've gotten good steaks at Saltgrass too, and for half the price. For the price, the drinks were rather small. Servers were friendly and helpful. A nice dinner overall, but I am not sure I'd do it again.

Ella A.

Yelp
This is fine dining and it is worth it. Their food and steaks are AMAZING and service is top tier. Very romantic environment.

Robin J.

Yelp
The service was remarkable. It made a bad day wonderful. Kara gave a perfect description of the items on the menu. Beautiful service- beautiful food- beautiful day! Perfection.

Janet D.

Yelp
Always a great meal! We love to sneak in and sit at the bar for great service and lively conversation. The bartenders are top notch! We usually order apps and a salad to share. If friends are in town we'll have a drink and hope for a table. Be sure to reserve days ahead you need a table.

Taylor K.

Yelp
I've been trying to get into Rick's for years but they're always completely booked. Tonight we finally got in and were disappointed; it was average at best. I got the lobster bisque to start which was in a literally espresso cup. It might have been 1 single ounce of soup and it wasn't that good. For my main course I had the prime rib which had zero flavor, even with the steak sauce. The creole cream corn was really the only dish I'd recommend - it had a great spice. Lastly, the cocktail menu was a bust. 2/4 of the drinks we ordered weren't available due to out of stock ingredients.

Michelle L.

Yelp
Food was great for lunch! Our waitress was awesome and never forgot to give us refills on our waters. The ambience was also nice! We really enjoyed the Rockefeller oysters, chophouse salad, cowboy steak and chicken fried chicken this past weekend. Will definitely come back again!

Brandie P.

Yelp
We go here every chance we get! Food is always incredible, cocktails are creative and tasty, and the staff are next level!

Joanna B.

Yelp
Absolutely excellent food and service! We had lunch and everything we ordered was delicious. We had a Ruben, chicken salad sandwich, chophouse salad and a wedge salad. Beautiful restaurant with fresh flowers. We will definitely be back!

Shal J.

Yelp
This place is a vibe, is a vibe, is such a VIBE! The fact that I'm repeating myself says something. I felt transported to a jazzy speakeasy feel. I admit, I was mad that the steak connoisseur within me hadn't found it sooner! The face of the restaurant doesn't do it justice and maybe that's part of the it mysterious allure. The food is sizable in portion. What makes this steakhouse different? Some of the meat cuts have been aged to perfection and portions are hearty. The house was fully booked so I opted for the bar area. It was spacious enough to enjoy my dining experience fully. I could also see a diner going to this room to start their night before formal seating. Once you order, servers take care of presenting the food and there is a runner who boxes items. I really valued that efficiency and the specialization of how service is carried out. It allowed for free flowing conversation with my dining companion and a sense we were taken care of properly. Kudos to the kind bartender who smiled, was so attentive and served my friend and I. What an accommodating experience...I will be back!

Lindsey C.

Yelp
We are here as part of the "romance package" with the hotel, and it was just so wonderful. Frankly, the food was... fine. The wine list was great. But the service was PHENOMENAL. I can't say enough about how pleasant, accommodating, and helpful they were. They went out of their way to make us feel special. We will definitely be back for another parents night out!

Robin M.

Yelp
Perfect in every way - great food, great service and beautiful building. Highly recommend, A+

Jessaabraham A.

Yelp
Our service from Mitchell was exceptional. The wine and beer tasted delicious. The meat was cooked to perfection. The crab dip every bit commendable. The ambience was welcoming. Treated my 4 year old like a human. Very happy with their service and food.

James H.

Yelp
Still a decent choice here in McKinney. Expensive but consistent quality is to be trusted.

Kurt V.

Yelp
Outstanding experience! Great waitstaff and great food. I came for a birthday lunch and had the Prime Rib Sandwich. It is served on a fresh hoagie roll, and has thinly sliced prime rib, Swiss cheese, arugula and carmelized onions, and a horseradish cream sauce. Great sandwich, I quickly lost the arugula as it was wilted from the heat of the sandwich. Additionally, some of the onions were not as carmelized as I like so I took many of them off as well. My pecan pie was good, but I am not a fan of chocolate drizzle on my pecan pie and would have preferred it be served at room temperature instead of chilled. Minor details though...

Pattie B.

Yelp
We had a great dinner here. Our waitress was so friendly and the food was great. Beautiful inside too and they also had outside seating. Nice place!

Tim W.

Yelp
Never Disappoints. Service is top level. Never had a bad steak here. Shareable sides perfect. Favorite cocktail - pear martini. Should also note there is separate bar in back of the restaurant with comfy couches where you can relax and listen to live music on most nights.

Robert S.

Yelp
If you are coming to McKinney -make sure and make this old school restaurant and bar a must do. Teamed with an outstanding Sunday brunch- this is a great place to start your Sunday stroll around the square.

Mitchell B.

Yelp
What can I say this place is amazing ! Customer service is top notch!!! The desert is to die for!!! You won't be disappointed

Robin P.

Yelp
Wonderful experience. Great staff, superb service Delicious food. Dinner outside was wonderful ( except for the guy who sits on the bench smoking a cigar) Dessert key lime perfection and salty yummy pecan pie.

Kelly W.

Yelp
Luxurious vibes all around. The staff is incredible, they treat you like a celebrity. The food is consistent and ALWAYS so good. My husband and I love going here for our anniversary or just date nights in general. 10/10 would recommend. MUST get the carpetbagger steak.

Byron S.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience we had at Rick's last night for dinner. Making the reservation was quite easy via their website and we arrived 15 minutes before our reservation and we were seated promptly. Our waiter, Chris did an outstanding job taking care of our anniversary celebration and made the experience even more enjoyable. We started with two different salads, watermelon and spinach. Great taste! We had the sea bass and pork chop tomahawk. Both outstanding. We closed out the meal with the apple pie. I highly recommend and hope you give them a try. Enjoy the awesome service and food!

Kris K.

Yelp
"Why did we wait so long to eat here?" That's what we said when my wife and I finally ate dinner there. We had no reason for missing it, and, after one dinner, we instantly regretted the delay. The food was spectacular, and we loved the beautiful, quiet dining area. However, the reason that we will return (SOON)? The service. The service is excellent! We will be back again, and will probably stay at the Grand Hotel again just like we did this time. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Gj M.

Yelp
Delicious, though the prices are really steep. For the amount it costs to eat there I'd rather go to an elite restaurant in an high class neighborhood

Lisa M.

Yelp
We celebrated our 32 wedding anniversary at Rick's last night. The atmosphere was amazing. We sat mesmerized by the gas lanterns on the walls. We decided to share a bottle of amazing Zinfandel and were not disappointed. The service was spot on and we can't say enough good things about the quality of the food. Thank you for making our night memorable.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Wandered in here for an impromptu date night after running errands all day with the boyfriend. I felt very under dressed in my brightly colored yoga pants and white denim jacket, but when we were headed to the back to go to the bar, the enviornment was still nice-- just a bit more casual than the front of the house. Initially we came in because nobody acknowledged us next door at Landon Winery, so we took our business elsewhere, and BOY did we NOT regret it Once I got over my initial self consciousness, I got to enjoy our improptu date night. The food was melt in my mouth! The ambiance was perfect. It did get a little noisy in the back, though, but that's okay.

Charles D.

Yelp
When we moved to Dallas our realtor gifted us a gift card for Rick's. Every time we looked to go we were unable to reserve a table as the place is always fully booked for the times we wanted to go. Finally able to reserve a belated Valentine's Day dinner we ventured into downtown McKinney. Upon walking in we were immediately greeted by the hostesses and show to our table. We were taken into what looked a little like the library instead of the main dining hall. Nice romantic setting with only 2 other tables. Promptly greeted by our waitress who proceeded to explain the menu and some of the more notable items on the menu. We had the raw oysters to start which were very fresh and boy did that horseradish have a kick. As for our mains my fiancée had the filet carpetbagger and changed the fried shrimp for a grilled one. And I opted for the Cowboy. As we needed some greens we also ordered some sautéed spinach to keep the doctors happy. Overall the meals were good. Steaks could have used with some more seasoning, a little salt and pepper goes a long way. The cowboy is a bone in rib-eye but I found my cut to have a little too much fat for my liking. Loaded baked potatoes were large and tasty. The onion rings were okay. The breading was tasty but not crispy enough. Signs that they were not made to order and had been waiting for the next order. The sautéed spinach was nice although maybe a little too small a portion. The touch of lemon juice was a nice refreshing surprise. As we still had some wine in the bottle we decided to finish off the meal with a slice of Texan pecan pie. Very nice as it wasn't overly sweet. All in all a good meal. Not too expensive for a steak / chophouse. Service was good but steaks can do with more flavor.

Deep E.

Yelp
Looking back at my last review of this place was a 5. That was 4 years ago for my wife's birthday. We went last night for our upcoming anniversary on the 14th. We started with the beet arugula salad which was very good. Wife got the sea scallops. Hers were overcooked and hard. Instead of a nice sear they were dry and very dark. I got the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and corn medley. The potatoes and corn side were good. However, the chicken was inedible. I ate part of one piece. The batter was as so thick and had no flavor and heavy and tasted strongly of the pig dat it is cooked in. The chicken was dry and overdone. Just no flavor. I told them about this and they took off the chicken. Rather disappointed with the experience. Not sure if standards have come down I the last 4 years but probably not a place we will use again so a special occasion.

Shawna G.

Yelp
The food is very tasteful. Great menu selections. Be prepared to pay though. Service is always excellent. Ambiance is nice. I recommend a reservation. Occasionally we get in without one.

Ali L.

Yelp
All of the food was prepared well and delicious! I didn't care for the chorizo gravy on the chicken fried chicken, but it wasn't bad. Just not my preference. The lobster was juicy. Highly recommend the crab dip as a starter. Service was superb and the historic building is beautiful!

Dawn R.

Yelp
Update to previous review: We were invited back to Rick's to give it another try and we are so glad we did. We did order the bone in ribeye and filet this time and they were both perfectly cooked. Both steaks were full of flavor as were the sides. The wedge salad was delicious and had the perfect amount of toppings in each bite. The experience this time won us over and we will be back. The ambiance is nice but relaxed and our server was top notch. Our lesson learned is if you go to a "chophouse" for dinner, order the steaks! You will not be disappointed!

Lady R.

Yelp
Wonderful in every way! Food was phenomenal, drinks were tasty, and service was fantastic!

Carrie R.

Yelp
One of the coolest steak houses I've been to lately. We were seated in a private room that had lots of books and interesting things to look at. The food and service was amazing. I didn't even need a knife to cut my filet mignon. Side dishes were phenomenal. Drinks were creative, and strong! Dessert was to die for! A creamy cheesecake with fresh berries. Top notch all around.

S M.

Yelp
I like this place, good dinner and great service. On our last trip to celebrate an anniversary, apparently, we didn't specify that we wanted a booth.. and I asked for it, but we sat at a table in the middle of the dinning room and watched a booth sit empty all throughout our dinning experience (at the table) I was so disppointed in the hostess who said that was "reserved" for another party. Who apparently, did not show up. SO, if you would like to sit in a booth, make sure that you tell them.

Gerry L.

Yelp
A prospective vendor took us to Rick's in McKinney. This is an old school steakhouse, with lots of dark paneling and classic furniture. We were seated in a private room and attended by a server in a chef's jacket. Was he a / the chef? I didn't find out. We began with cocktails; I had a Hendricks & tonic (alas no slice of cucumber) while our host opted for a Monkey 47 gin & tonic. I ordered a bottle of Belle Glos Las Alturas pinot noir. The first food order was the seafood tower, which they split onto two ice-filled serving platters and an order of escargot. The star of the show was the generous serving of king crab ... I probably consumed the majority of the crab. Other items included shrimp, oysters and slices of seared sashimi. My entrée was a pair of Elk Filets; it was served with mushrooms and green beans. The coloration of the elk was almost black but it was perfectly prepared and was tender, juicy and flavorful. Another ordered the 45-day dry aged NY Strip; I had a piece ... nutty and rich in flavor; IMHO 45 days is the minimum needed to understand why some love dry aged meat. Others ordered the Sea Bass; it looked great and everyone was complimenting the food. The food prices are very reasonable and the wine prices are not out of line. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Talk about a Bomb Steak Dinner. This was a very warm welcome to Texas. We had a wondeful server named lauren. theough out the night it was smooth and relaxing. we started with a split wedge salad & lobster bisque. it was mouth watering. however this bisque, is more tomatoey not as creamy but definitely worth a try! My parents spilt the porter house meal and ate everything on their plate. my aunt and I both ordered filets. i changed my mashed potatoes for a loaded baked potatoe. It was okay, wasn't amazing but tastes good. to help wash it down we had lemon frost & a bottle of J Lohr paso robles cab. over all a great experience and great classy atmosphere. I wore a cute shirt and jeans & felt completely comfortable.

Yelp
The best dining experience I've had in the area, Rick's is located in the heart of historic downtown McKinney. The front dining area is spacious, with high ceilings and beautiful old wood flooring. There are intimate side rooms for larger parties and events, as well as a very cool bar/lounge space with comfy leather seating areas and tin ceilings. It's an elegant restaurant with exceptional service, while being relaxed and unpretentious. I made reservations for 4 a week in advance, and still only was able to get an 8:45pm seating. No worries, had some wonderful, strong and very tasty craft cocktails in the lounge first. Our waitress was incredibly professional and nice. After being seated, our waiter apprised of the specials and ended up starting with a massive chilled seafood platter that was to die for - oysters, shrimp, seared ahi and king crab legs on ice with drawn butter and horseradish. The menu consists of all types of steaks, pork chops, seafood, shrimp, lobster, fried chicken, buffalo, elk, salads, sides and appetizers. They have an extensive list of wines, whiskeys and ports, and I like that you can get a number of good wines by the glass. My favorite dinner item is the carpetbagger, a filet cooked to order, stuffed with fried shrimp with a twice baked potato...yum! The meat itself is from another planet, so tender and flavorful. One of my colleagues ordered prime rib, which was coated in a medley of chopped veggies and brussels sprouts. it also looked delicious. Desserts are fittingly spectacular and I can't resist the Texas pecan pie with whiskey chocolate sauce and ice cream. The service throughout is on par with the quality of food - absolutely outstanding. One feels pampered and in good hands throughout. If you are anywhere within 50 miles, I highly recommend Rick's for an unforgettable dining experience.
