The 17 Best Restaurants In Sun Valley

"Keep Rickshaw in your back pocket for when you were too busy booking lift tickets and forgot to make a reservation for dinner. They don’t reserve tables, so it’s perfect for small groups and something last-minute. Start your meal with an order of wonton chips and a green papaya salad for the table before moving on to entrees like the Korean fried chicken and the spicy japchae. There’s a fire pit outside where you can hang out with a drink, and if you’re there in summer, play some ping-pong in their side courtyard. " - hayden seder

"While you can’t enjoy the restaurant’s popular fire pit or ping pong table during the winter 2020/2021 season, you can still order takeout from Rickshaw. The restaurant assembles some of the greatest hits from across Asia in its small-plates menu, with an emphasis on organic and conscientiously sourced ingredients. Hunker down for a winter feast of wonton chips, green papaya salad, chile-oil udon noodles, Korean fried chicken, and Chiang Mai curry." - Scott Wink

Delectable, healthy, and divine! The best meal I’ve had in Ketchum. If you are a foodie, this place is for you. If you are not, this place is for you. Small plates to share, balancing fresh herbs, sweet, sour and unami with a little heat. Vegetable forward in a way that makes your Microbiome jump for joy. The drink menu was an incredible assortment of teas and nonalcoholic drinks, and they also have beer and wine. I had a nonalcoholic sumac and chili seltzer that was fantastic. Show up 30 minutes before you want to eat, put your name on the sign in board with your phone number, select either inside or outside. Ask the wait time and go get a cocktail someplace. We chose the rooftop at Warfield for some Prosecco. The staff couldn’t be friendlier and it’s a good sign when the kitchen is almost as big as the interior dining space. We sat outside and had green papaya salad, watermelon and shrimp, sautéed greens, and a noodle dish with beef and other things that was really scrumptious. We forgot to order the clams, but we were already full sharing four plates, but others might want five. Everything we ate was so balanced and delicious with incredible sauces and the perfect garnishes. Experience it for yourself and pick your favorite.

Absolutely amazing. My group and I are from Ogden Utah and we were so happy we stopped here for dinner. The food was incredible. Everything was so delicious and beyond flavorful. I have never had a Floating Market soup before and it was beyond amazing. Our waitress was so friendly and everyone loved what they got. 15/10 stars

INCREDIBLE!! is what I have to say! If you have the opportunity to try out this restaurant, put your name on that waitlist and wait for this one because you won't regret it! There are some other bar/restaurants within walking distance where you can grab a drink at while you wait, so it made waiting go by even quicker. I came here with a group of friends and we were able to grab a table outside which was great! The weather was perfect and the outdoor seating area was very welcoming. Our server was on top of things which made the experience all the better, because we ordered so much off of the menu! The menu is comprised of so many delightful, shareable dishes! We ordered the following: Green Papaya Salad: Such a fresh and delicious dish! The lemongrass and cilantro really brighten up the flavor of the dish, and it comes with a side spoon full hot Thai chilies for those who want to add a kick to their bite! Hoisin Cashew-Shrimp: One of our favorite dishes; so much so that we ended up getting a second order! The sauce was so full of flavor and the shrimp was cooked to perfection. Samui Squid: The batter on this was just the right amount to add a soft crunch. The dipping sauce was light, yet complex, and had a nice acidity to it. K.F.C. (Korean Fried Chicken): I could rave about how exceptional this chicken was until I reached the ends of the earth. This was a second dish that we got a second order of after polishing the first order. They have absolutely perfected the crispiness on this chicken and the flavor had the perfect level of spice to it. This is a MUST ORDER item. Chili-Oil Noodles: Upon first look, you may notice that the noodles are hard to find under the piling of various toppings. Give it a stir and buckle in for some of the best udon noodles you’ve ever had. The different toppings provide such a nice crunch that pair with the noodles while the chili oil still prevails as a prominent flavor in the dish. Andreas' pot-stickers: I didn’t partake in this dish, but it looked very well made! They had a great wrapper-to-filling ratio and had a beautiful golden brown cook to them! Sake: They only offer cold sake on the menu, which is a plus for me as I prefer cold sake to hot. We ordered a few different bottles including the Joto Yuzu, the Joto Junmai Nigori, and one other bottle (name escapes me). All were delicious, but I will caution to only order the Yuzu one if you do like that very citrus forward flavor. We anticipated that the flavor would be lightly flavored with the yuzu, but the citrus was not hiding anywhere here. I will think about this meal for a long time and I hope to return very soon to try even more outstanding dishes!

My finance and I had the best experience here. We got engaged about three hours before getting takeout and the gentleman that helped us was so nice asking where we were from and why we were there, we then told him we just got engaged a few hours prior and he gave us a bottle of champagne and he told the staff. They came up and congratulated us, as we were there 20 minutes before closing. Not to mention I lived in Thailand for over a year and their Chiang Mai noodles made the day that I thought couldn’t get any better, even better. I couldn’t thank them enough. Their food is AMAZING as well as the people.

Started with the Sri Lankan Dahl soup, so delicious and flavorful, then had the chili-oil noodles which was a bowlful of delicious flavors. Split a bottle of cold sake and had the hoisin shrimp

Google
Super friendly staff! I came in for dinner by myself and got a seat at the counter right away. I tried the Mockly orange basil mocktail and it was really good! The Thai shrimp and watermelon salad was so fresh and delicious! The combo of sweet/salty/tangy was perfect! I also had the Vietnamese/Thai caramel pork ribs and they were great. Definitely spicy and sweet but really good. I believe Taylor was my server and he was so great! Friendly and attentive but not overly checking in or anything. He was very thoughtful in asking for any extras I might need or want.

The food was so good! We had the chili noodles, Asian vegetables, and the green curry and each was just outstanding. Strongly recommend!

Yelp
Love this spot! Definitely recommend. Love that they are open later than most other places in town AND their steamed greens are the best I've ever had in a restaurant. F-ing delicious. 10/10 Everything I've had from here has been really, really good. Vibe and decor /dim lighting inside & service was great too.

Yelp
Yum!!! I love Rickshaw! Definitely stop here when visiting Ketchum. There will pretty much always be a long wait here because it's really small inside, but it's worth it I promise! Or get it to go. I've tried the Potstickers, Thai Chicken Sate, Chiang Mai Curry Noodles, Pearl Balls (Chicken Dumplings), and Caramel Pork Ribs. All of the dishes were super good and full of flavor! My favorite is the Chiang Mai noodles. I felt like it got better the more I ate it! And it's a pretty good amount of food. I literally drank the sauce when I was done! The ribs are great but have a pretty strong kick in some bites, so beware of that if you're sensitive to spice! The Chicken Sate is a great option too, because it comes with rice and the delicious Papaya Salad! It's nice to have the variety. I feel like prices are totally reasonable for the quality of food you get here. Highly recommend!

Yelp
You'll be waiting 2.5-3 hours to get a table in this restaurant. There's 6-7 tables maximum, and 6-7 bar seats. You write your name on a piece of paper, and someone will call you once it's your turn. This place gets three stars for the great service we got, and that's it. We ordered the K.F.C. and the Chili Oil Udon. Both were reminiscent of a Trader Joe's frozen meal. I'm so glad everyone else seems to enjoy this place, but as an Asian, I would not recommend it (granted, there's not many Asians in town in general).

Yelp
This meal is truly a 5 stars. It was all good. Best dining experience I've had in Sun Valley. Fun to get a ton of stuff and mix and match and try a bunch of stuff. The curry noodles were a favorite. The KFC was particularly tasty as well. The pot stickers sauce is to die for. Friendly service from one of the chefs. The staff sat us quickly. Nice low lighting in the restaurant. Each plate is about $12-15, and for a party of three, we got 8-9 and we were stuffed.

Yelp
After a long (fun) day on the slopes there's usually an 80% chance that my crew is too tired to go out. Unfortunately, Sun Valley doesn't have many delivery options, but Rickshaw is a good option if you can pick up...and are in the mood for asian food. The menu isn't very big and we ordered the majority of it to share so we got a little taste of everything. It was all very good, but some of it definitely had a kick, but the rice that came with many of the dishes helped put out the fire in my mouth. Favorites included: - Chili-Oil Udon Noodles - Thai Chicken Sate - Sichuan Green Beans You can also eat there, but it's a pretty small restaurant so may have a bit of a wait during the busy season.

Yelp
Fantastic food and service. We had a group of seven women and we all thought the food was comparable to any major city. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Yelp
This place is quite the spot to enjoy South East Asian Fair. Outside and inside seating available. Excellent wines. Hood service. And the food flavors is so wonderful. It's a total local vibe and quite enjoyable. Go and enjoy.

Yelp
Hands-down my favorite dining experience during our ski trip to Sun Valley. The atmosphere is cozy, the service is excellent, and the Asian small plates were all delicious. We were recommended to get 3-5 for a group of 2. Having already had an appetizer elsewhere while we waited, 3 was the perfect amount. We tried the Korean Friend Chicken (very spicy), Green Curry (mildly spicy), and the Pot Stickers (fluffy and savory). Highly recommend! TIP: This place is popular for a reason. No reservations, so I recommend getting there as early as possible. As a party of 2, we put our name in at 630pm on a Friday night and had about a 2 hour wait. You are able to leave your phone # and walk around, etc. so it wasn't too bad and well worth it.

Yelp
Such amazing flavors! Try the ribs! Great service and atmosphere too! So glad we came here

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food!! The combination of flavors in these small plates were totally amazing. Great service and reasonable prices too. Definitely one of our favorite eating experiences while spending a week in Sun Valley. I would return again for sure if we visit this area again.

Yelp
This was one of both the best meals AND best-priced meals I've had in this city. Delicious, fresh, and unique Asian dishes, served family style so you can try everything! Plus, it's about half the price of most of the "nicer" places. Get here early for dinner though! They fill up quickly.
google avatar

Kris M.

Yelp
Rickshaw was recommended by a friend and we are so glad we took her advice. Wow!! Everything was amazing! We ordered four items and every single one was beautifully presented and incredibly flavorful. Don't miss the udon noodles in chili oil or the KFC chicken!! We'll be back. one of the best meals we've had in years!

Yelp
Acceptable food, with a few elements done very well. Unfortunately, let down by inconsistency and odd service choices. The Sri Lankan dahl [sic] (11$) was quite nice, flavorful enough to not be boring, while still a very soothing dish. I also enjoyed the green curry chicken (16$), which had good fragrant curry, but somewhat tasteless chicken. The texture of the chicken was fine though, so it was a bit surprising! The rice was also nicely fragrant. The green papaya salad (12$) was mostly just sour, without the usual sweet and savory balancing elements. The Korean fried chicken (14$) appeared to be... sweet and sour American Chinese style chicken, with an additional frying step. (And was served with rice?) Not crisp like Korean fried chicken ought to be at all. I'm puzzled. I suppose you can argue this is some form of fusion, but it was poorly balanced flavor wise and also pretty hard texture wise. The service was fine though a touch slow; the real issue was that they were weirdly stingy about giving us tableware. When we wanted to share the dahl, they only gave one bowl (we were a group of three). Then even though it was clear we were sharing food, they indicated we should reuse the same ladle for all the dishes, even though some were quite saucey and the flavors very different. It may be a choice if it's 4:30 and you want to have dinner immediately without a reservation, and maybe if you go enough you can figure out the hits.

Yelp
Had takeout n ordered various dishes paid over $70 n well i just was totally underwhelmed by the quality n small portions served! Had to get a burger afterwards as the 3 entries n 1 salad were barely enough for 2 people! Asked for some hot chili sauce n they gave me raw jalapeños

Yelp
Always AMAZING Thai infused delish!!! I look forward to Friday Lunches!!! Such fresh flavors and great staff.

Yelp
Fantastic flavors, portions, staff. Potstickers, KFC, and soup were all amazing. Very happy customer.

Yelp
Loved this place. We stopped in on a Thursday night at 950pm. We were seated quickly. Only place open so we didn't expect much but we're thrilled with the meal. They had a wonton special which was amazing. The Korean fried chicken was yummy. Thai chicken sate was very good as well. Good beer selection. Loved this place and would go back!

Yelp
Love the food here! We look forward to getting Rickshaw every time we're in town. If busy, have a glass of wine while you wait. Outside waiting area is great (even in winter with a nice fire o

Yelp
This place is really good! The KFC chicken is amazing. I loved the potstickers. My only complaint is that the Chiang Mai curry noddles really weren't prepared in the traditional manner. It's supposed to be noodles in a curry broth but it ended up being noodles with some curry on it. Just think they could do better with that dish. Overall would go back again for that chicken.

Ramon M.

Yelp
I was looking for something to eat and found out most kitchens closed between 8 and 9. I'm glad I stumbled upon this wonderful restaurant during my walk. I arrived a little after 9 and was seated instantly. The server was knowledgeable about the food and gave me great suggestions. I'm very happy with the overall experience.

Doni H.

Yelp
We tried 4 different dishes and each one was delicious. Family style brings out the dishes as they are prepared so they come in a staggered presentation. They were so tasty that we didn't have room for dessert. The waiting area is outside, and there is a firepit if you need to stay warm. Plan accordingly. The seating is cozy and the service is friendly.

Yelp
My husband and I are visiting Sun Valley for a few days. We got take out one night from Ricksaw, as we had read the reviews and knew it was small and quite popular (they dont take reservations). We ordered all the things - the potstickers, the noodles, ribs, green curry, the sate....oh my! Everything was delicious. Sometimes, the take out from restaurants is not as good. That was not the case here. And excited we have leftovers! Regretfully, I didn't take any pictures - we ate too quickly!
google avatar

Amy H.

Yelp
The food was delicious. Our server was a little abrupt and not real hospitable. Real matter of fact.

Yelp
Great food, service and atmosphere! Try the Hoisin Shrimp!!! If you are ordering takeout, get your order in early as they tend to fill up early.

Yelp
Visiting Ketchum for some hiking & Lord have mercy this place should get 10 stars! We were recommended to check it out by a local in Ketchum and seriously EVERYTHING SINGLE dish was phenomenal! I am half Korean, and my husband is Puerto Rican and we have a palette for all sorts of good culturally diverse foods! This was one of the best Asian fusion stores we have ever tried and we've had some great food local to us! We chose 4 different dishes and each one had unique flavor, perfectly paired ingredients and also not super sweet or salty which is usually common with most Asian style dishes. Everything was PERFECT!! Prices were also incredibly reasonable!! We were extremely impressed and 100% well be back when we are in the area !

Yelp
We love this restaurant. Everything!!! Is so good. The wait can be long so plan ahead. The green beans are excellent. We

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. Every bad review seems to be about the takeout, which we opted for. Ordered the seafood soup, which came complete with three (3) bay-sized shrimp. Also had the green curry tofu (see pic). More than half of this container was rice. The other part was a watery, unflavorful sauce, mostly broccoli (where were all the mushrooms?). Maybe dine in would be better, but for $40 between these two dishes, I would have expected better quality and quantity...

Crystal J.

Yelp
Fantastic experience at Rickshaw. Had the Green Curry Chicken, Udon Noodles, and pot stickers. Delicious. On top of amazing food, the service was stellar. Loved. Every. Bite.
google avatar

Alexandra C.

Yelp
Food was amazing, service was great, and atmosphere unbeatable. We walked in at 530 because they don't take reservations and got a table immediately! The food is always so fresh and light and unlike any other in the valley! Highly recommend.

Susan L.

Yelp
This cozy Asian fusion restaurant is a gem, but be prepared for a wait. There was a line outside before they opened and the restaurant couldn't fit everyone in line. You can wait in front, around their fire pit, or walk around and wait for them to text you that your table is ready. Rickshaw was worth the wait! We had delicious noodles, salad, and amazing caramelized ribs. We would have eaten more, but we filled up on appetizers and beer before dinner. I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Shay F.

Yelp
Worth the wait and location is amazing. Play some ping pong while you're waiting and take in the anticipation of what you'll soon be munching and savoring!

Yelp
This place is exceptional! The best PanAsian food I have ever had! Great outdoor seating! If you get cold they have one time use blankets that they give! Our server Taylor was Fantastic! He was just so friendly and so informative! Everything he recommended was delicious and he also has great knowledge of wines! We loved the bottle he recommended. I highly recommend the Thai Salad, Green beans, and the KFC chicken! That Thai salad is the best I have ever had and so is the Korean fried Chicken! It's gonna be hard not to go back but we are only here for 3 days and want to try other restaurants Taylor also recommended stuff to do so he was like our mini concierge service at the restaurant Overall, I can't express how much I enjoyed this place! Will definitely be back!

Monty M.

Yelp
Amazing! Some of the best food I have had in recent memory. No reservations. Swing by and put your name in the list and then go have a drink while you wait. You will be so glad you did!

Carl S.

Yelp
Food was great. Wines were delicious. Service was excellent. Thanks for making the visit to Ketchum more fun.

Yelp
The best Thai I've had since coming back to Idaho after a 13-year hiatus. Idaho Falls has a few Thai joints but all are just a shadow of what is offered at Rickshaw. Menu is robust and is fashioned for family style eating. We ordered several different things to share and were very happy with each selection. We now have another reason to drive to the heart of Idaho. The seating is very limited so if you arrive shortly after opening you'll likely be waiting. There is a poster board pinned just inside the door to jot your name down and reserve your place in the queue. Enjoy meeting similarly minded foodies waiting along side you.
google avatar

Ed H.

Yelp
I'm an out of tow we, but someone with local knowledge roughy me to Rickshaw. The food is wonderful and worth the wait. I could fill up on any one of the wonderful dishes, but the ribs come to mind right now. It's a great spot for a delicious meal!
google avatar

Jeremy L.

Yelp
Ordered take out and it was all over the place. Papaya salad and ribs were just soaked in fish sauce, had to air the house out for a couple hours after fish sauce'a'palooza. Fried chicken was enjoyable and pot stickers were so so. Maybe try dining in with a chance at better result. Price was not crazy and maybe we just got the heavy handed saucier.

Yelp
Cold night. Below freezing. Needed soup. That's where Rickshaw came in. Rickshaw has a small dining area that includes some counter seating in front of an open kitchen. For a Thursday night, there was only a brief wait before we slipped into two of those counter stools. Nobody seemed anxious to leave once their tummies were full. I took that as a very good sign. My Pho Ga was a large bowl of Asian seasoned broth filled with noodles, topped with sliced chicken, bean sprouts and sliced lime. My word to the wise is, understand this healthy cuisine includes a love affair with spicy chile. This soup came with jalapeno slices that gave a warm, spicy flavor to an already complex broth that was strong with 5-star anise. I shamelessly picked the jalapeno out knowing it had done enough work already The Hoisin Cashew Shrimp is a mouthwatering dish of deep fried, tender shrimp that is served over rice. The hoisin sauce and sesame seeds are a great finish. A great dish. The Thai Beef Salad is beautifully presented with layers of lettuce, rice noodles, cucumber, raw beet threads, filet mignon slices, cilantro dressing, and toasted rice flour. The tender beef slices were beautifully marinated and perfectly cooked. But again, beware of sneaky chile fireworks. You will have no trouble discovering how right I am as you bite into tiny, almost imperceptible chunks of potent, Thai chiles (feisty seeds included). Wuss that I am, I repeated my hunt to remove all these, after realizing I had lost all the feeling in my lips. But this dish, including a typical Thai dressing (made from fish sauce, sugar, and lime juice), is one of my favorites. Chenin Blanc. Very fruity and delicious, it went well with the spicy goods. This was a delightful meal.

Yelp
Love the food here! We look forward to getting Rickshaw every time we're in town. If busy, have a glass of wine while you wait. Outside waiting area is great (even in winter with a nice fire pit).

Candice Estey S.

Yelp
Fabulous!!! Will worth any wait. It is small so go early if you have several people. The green beans were great along with green papaya salad, pot stickers, green curry and noodles. Will definitely go back. Not your typical Chinese restaurant, thank goodness. It's excellent. Highly recommend it.
google avatar

Zubin S.

Yelp
I was in the Sun Valley area with my mom and we were looking for a place to eat dinner. Rickshaw rated high on Yelp and some locals recommend it. We were seated quickly, without wait around 6:00 though the queue built up behind us. We were served quickly despite the restaurant being short staffed. I don't recall the dish names, but both were fusions of SE Asian cuisine and both were delicious.

Nicolle C.

Yelp
Wow. WOW! So good, excellent ambiance, service and AMAZING food. It is small, no reservations and likely a wait, so be prepared for that, but there is a reason for the wait. It is that good. Our server, Taylor, was so genuine and wonderful. Also, thank you to Josh for keeping the front running. The kitchen is visible and clean with the entire team working like clockwork. Highly recommend.

Kimberly G.

Yelp
Got takeout from here. It was good, but not as amazing as the reviews had hyped it to be. Got the Korean Fried Chicken, Tofu Curry, Chiang Mai Noodles, and Dumplings. Noodles are the only thing I would order again.
google avatar

Lesley D.

Yelp
We placed a take-out order here (COVID times) during our stay in Sun Valley. Online ordering was very easy. Upon arrival at the restaurant we had to wait a bit because they were very busy (took that as a good sign!). We are avoiding carbs so we had to order menu items that probably wouldn't have been my first choice at a place like this. We got Green Papaya Salad ($12.00) Waterfall Pork Sausage ($15.00) Tofu Tikka Masala ($14.00). The papaya salad and the sausage came with little cups with chopped up peppers so we could control the spice level. It was a nice touch and I enjoyed both of those dishes. The tofu tikka was pretty lack luster. All in all just 3 stars because nothing left me wanting more however it was all very good quality. Given the popularity I will definitely give this place another try when I'm back on the carb train!

Yelp
What a great find in the middle of Sun Vally. You would never expect to find such amazing Asian food in a ski town and then- You get Rickshaw! This place is highly rated online but also was recommended by almost every local we asked. The Restaurant is very tiny and they do not do reservations. You go, put your name on the list and they'll text when there's a table. Keep in mind many businesses are suffering with staffing issues- so please be respectful of how hard the staff here is working. If you order take out- it will take 2-3 hours to be ready. So plan ahead. Now the food- I recommend getting every item pictured and more! My favorite was the Vietnamese ribs which were tender and flavorful. Sweet and Savory. All the noodle dishes were great and my favorite was the Shanghai noodles as it has a nice curry taste. Order family style here and everyone share- it would be the best experience. Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
The food is AMAZING and very flavorful. It takes classic asian dishes and puts a spin on it. My favorite restaurant in town. Very reasonably priced too. Look out for the honey vinegar cucumbers. My favorite. Beware they are closed during off season. Check it out!

Yelp
The flavor of the food was lights out! The service was great and the restaurant was very small with good vibes! We loved the green beans!!

Yelp
There was a wait, as the dining room was small and cozy, but so, so worth it! We are visiting Ketchum and although there are ample food options around We are looking at going back to this restaurant. It was just so tasty!
