"After closing for nearly a year of renovations, this classic North Miami Thai spot is back. Their menu remains the same with dishes like pad see ew, duck basil, and crab fried rice." - mariana trabanino, virginia otazo

The best pat Thai chicken I ever had. My girlfriend always wants to come here, always. The staff is amazing! And they make it a great experience every time. Don’t hesitate, take your date.

Google
The restaurant is spectacularly good , it's fine dine thai food , really very good everything fresh , done at the moment . The owner makes you feel like in your house, excellent attention. Totally recommended.

Google
We have loved this place for over a decade! The food is consistently delicious (and the portions are big; our go-to order: veggie spring rolls, papaya salad, pineapple fried rice, basil stir fry, thai donuts), the service is friendly and attentive, the owner is welcoming, and the renovated space is lovely - fun colors and a great atmosphere. We are lucky it’s in our neighborhood, but it’s the type of place we’d go out of our way for - nothing fancy, just a reliably great meal.

Google
My husband and I have been coming here consistently for 9.5 years and will continue to do so until they close their doors. The owners are friendly, warm people who we have seen from time to time in the neighborhood and who treat the community with kindness. The food is INCREDIBLE, fresh, and well priced, especially for the quality. The restaurant is a casual vibe. They are very careful to source great quality ingredients and will even reduce the sugar in the sauce for you if you ask! It’s a 10/10 for us!

Google
The food was excellent. If you want to try authentic Thai food, this is the place to go. We ordered Thai spring rolls, and they're awesome. Pad wood sen and fried rice crab, and they were very very good. Also, we finished with Thai donuts, and they were also excellent. Definitely recommend this restaurant to try it and definitely going back to try more of their food.

Google
I've been a patron of Ricky's for a while now. Today, I returned after a long absence due to their renovation. The changes are amazing; the restaurant now feels so open and bright. The food and service were beyond impressive—I had the Drunken Noodle with pork, and it was outstanding. In terms of quality and flavor, it's to my opinion the best in Miami; you'd have to go to NY or Thailand to find something comparable. I highly recommend this place!

Google
The second time here, First time Since they reopened Everything was outstanding The remodel, the colors, new spacious dining room, gorgeous solid mahogany table tops, even the restrooms! The service was friendly and unhurried. The food was perfection. Don't miss out on this place!!

Google
I've been eagerly awaiting the reopening of this place since their expansion. It did not disappoint. Although they are currently open for dine in and take out, please be aware that there is some expansion work in progress. That being said, it doesn't affect, in any way, the quality of food or service. And the walk up/pick up window is genius. The food is so fresh,The chef is Thai and everything is made to order. I've spent a lot of time in Thailand, and this place does Thailand proud; and if you tell them you want it traditionally prepared, be prepared for it! Deliciousness! Run to this place, or at least, call in and Walk up, LoL. The wait was definitely worth it

Yelp
Food was great! the red curry came with zucchini, red bell peppers, broccoli and carrots. the curry was not watery by any means and a little bit on the thicker side -- which i love. very flavorful, a little sweet and definitely spicy as i got the "hot" spice level. "Hot" is definitely not for the faint of heart! I also got the thai ice tea which is sweet, but balanced out well with the spiciness of the curry. paired well together! Music plays in the background while you eat and the whistles are easily accessible. I will be back and recommend this place!

Emma B.

Yelp
Hands down the best Thai food I've had in Miami!! I will be coming here often. We ordered the pad see ew and the crispy duck with curry. 10/10. No notes. Everything was so perfect. It actually made me emotional because I've been looking for good Thai food in Miami for so long. And now I finally found some! Haha. But in all seriousness this place is great. The interior is cute and low key. Our server was nice. The food came out pretty quick. They have a take out window outside the restaurant for easy pick up. I believe they just reopened after being closed for renovations. Go check out Ricky Thai Bistro asap!

Yelp
Thai food is probably one of my top five favorite types of food and Ricky's did not disappoint. Dang - it was fire. So happy that my friend had his birthday dinner there. My friend goes there probably once a week and it felt like we went to his family's house for dinner. The spring rolls were perfectly crispy! I got the panang curry and couldn't have been happier - full of flavor, and was a generous portion. Usually at restaurants I have to ask for "extra sauce" but as I mention there was zero skimping. Others in our party had cashew chicken, noodles, crispy duck and green curry - everyone was happy. Felt like the entire staff was making sure we had everything we needed, they were AMAZING! The parking was super easy. I'll 100% be visiting again soon.

Annie B.

Yelp
Parking is in the back. We were seated right away. They were very attentive and as soon as I looked at them they came over to get our order. Ordered spicy green papaya salad, pad see ew with tofu, garlic stir fry, Thai fried rice and basil fried rice. Everyone wanted different things so we had to order it all. Also got the crispy duck. It was delicious! Finished it! Glad they bring the sauce separately so it doesn't get soggy. Everything was absolutely amazing. The papaya salad , I haven't had a good one like that in such a long time. Simple spicy and sweet flavor to it. I wouldn't have taken leftover back to hotel but it would have been a waste and that papaya salad would be even better tomorrow! Amazing find! My family loved the food! It's a must stop for Thai food. There were other choices but glad I stopped here! I wish I had room for a cappuccino since the owner was Italian and wife is Thai.

Zakiyya W.

Yelp
Delicious flavors in their newly renovated space. All the servers were very attentive and made sure I felt comfortable and enjoyed my meal. Love this place!

Yelp
North Miami - This family owned and operated restaurant has recently reopened after years of bureaucracies associated with its expansion and renovations. The new kitchen is brand new, state of the art and spotless. The new dining room is definitely a step up with comfortable bench seating and standard wooden chairs, with some Thai art work here and there and soothing music in the background. Service is, as always, excellent: friendly and efficient. The owner, Julian, is always there welcoming and ensuring guests are well served and that everything is working like clockwork, and it always is. This is not a see-and-be-seen venue because the only star of the show is the food. All ingredients, from spices and herbs and vegetables to all proteins - everything is top quality and fresh. Julian's wife (apologies for not knowing her name) runs the kitchen and prepares authentic Thai food because she is afterall from Thailand. The combination of flavors are not just good; rather everything is exceptionally delicious. Their freshly made papaya salad, the nam sod and larp, the yum goong salad are all mouth watering delicacies. The chicken and shrimp Pad Thai, accompanied by Thai beers are equally delicious. Limited parking spaces are available behind the restaurant and in the adjacent animal clinic after 6:45 p.m. Just go.

Yelp
The ambience is as if you're a typical Thai restaurant very understated, colorful and loads of character. Apparently they're expanding to a larger size which I'm happy for them but I'm also a little bit afraid they may lose that beautiful quaint quality of small kind of hole in the wall out of the way secret paradise. I've never had a bad Thai dish anywhere. I have to admit that here they beat all the rest her I guess it's because they have also an Italian present in the kitchen, and as we all know, they are master eaters and chefs. Husband and wife team together they bring it to the table by concoct amazing dishes together . The vibe is absolutely lovely and would not go anywhere else for my thai. It feels like home.

Marv P.

Yelp
If I could give this place 10 stars I would, but 5 will do. I did not expect much from this tiny hole in the wall, finding good Asian food in Miami has been a mission impossible. But this was close to it. Upon arrival we were welcomed by a family of ducks outside. We were told it would be a 10 minute wait which we had no issue with. They came outside to let us know our ta le was ready. The service was spectacular, friendly, welcoming & they were so happy to serve every single guest. This is more of a local spot, you can tell the ppl that come here love this hidden gem. The beers were nice and cold! Now to the food! We started with the shrimp coconut soup, omg it was delicious the right amount of sweet and spicy with delicious veggies and shrimp 10/10 recommend. Please note the entrees portions are huge so order to share. We ordered the Thai basil shrimp & pineapple friend rice with shrimp. OMG it was delicious, full or flavor and the fish was delicious. I highly recommend, however it was too big to finish. This place is amazing and I hope it continues to stay amazing! Prices were great and I cannot wait to return. The staff truly went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience.

Karen L.

Yelp
I had waited and waited for Ricky to re-open after remodeling and expansion. FINALLY OPEN! YEAH! I'm back enjoying the best Thai food in Miami. Reasonably priced and delicious. Bonus - its family owned. such pride in ownership, service, and quality food.

Rafael A.

Yelp
Consistently, the best Thai food. I've been a regular for several years. I've enjoyed most of the dishes on the menu, and I have always walked away happy. My favorite restaurant in Miami.

Felicia A.

Yelp
Wow! My friend suggested I come here because I was in the area and I'm so happy I did! It's a super lowkey spot but the food is amazing. The service we had was also so so good. She was incredibly sweet and made conversation with us and suggested good dishes. Here's what we ordered: - KAO NIAO MOO TOD: you must order this! It's Papaya salad with sticky rice and pork strips. These pork strips were my favorite part of the whole meal! Ask for the papaya salad a little spicy. We forgot to do that and wished we did - Pad See Ew was really good too! Can't go wrong with this and they have a great one - Crab Fried Rice; not my favorite crab fried rice EVER but it was really good. I'm sad I hadn't heard of this place before but I'm glad I found it now and can't wait to go back!

Joe D.

Yelp
6 star food, 5 star service, 4 star ambience. Off da charts fantastic Thai food, served by incredibly nice staffers in a tiny space. 6 star food: Chicken Pad Thai here is among the best you'll have anywhere in the world. The chicken was moist and tender, almost like a pot roast. The noodles and peanut sauce were also perfect. 5 star service: Everyone here was polite and friendly. Water, appetizers and food came out like Swiss clockwork. 4 star ambience: Inside it has a hole in the wall charm. Outside there's a generic sea of shopping plazas, but lots of easy parking.

Yelp
Ricky Thai Bistro was across the street from our hotel, which was convenient. We dodged the rainstorms and walked there. It was very busy for dinner, which was a good sign, also a lot of people were coming in picking up take-out orders. The restaurant is small and colorful and the waitress was very sweet and friendly. We ordered a ginger entrée to share and added some spring rolls. All the food was hot and we didn't have to wait long. For dessert, the waitress suggested the Thai donuts that come with condensed milk on the side. OMG, they were to die for! We eat at a lot of Thai restaurants (mostly on the west coast) and had not come across those before. We are still talking about them!

Vanessa V.

Yelp
So I really wish there was a half star option right now. I would give this review a 4.5. I'll start with the food then move on to an uncomfortable situation. The food was amazinggggg. Everything was perfectly seasoned, textures were amazing!! We had: Tom kha kai which is a coconut line soup, to die for, 7 dollars and 2 can easily share! Pad Thai - $16 - great portion to share between 2 and delicious! It was a bit on the sweet side but when you threw a little lime on it it was just perfect! Panang curry - $17 - also shareable and let me just tell you. Probably my favorite dish. Served with white rice, we opted for shrimp and it it bomb!! Highly recommended. Thai chili fish - MP - $70 - whole fish, seasoning was great; the sauce is on the side so you can do what fits you best, it found it a little pricy to be honest. They close at 10pm we arrived at 935 knowing exactly what we wanted to order. The two waitresses helping up were amazing and super welcoming, but the owner - or who appeared to be the manager - basically said we're getting ready to close, are you looking to hang out? I'm not looking to spend the whole night here.... I wanted to walk out but I was one of three and was over ruled. And let me just tell you, This is not a hang out type of place. The ambience is like a whole in the wall quick delicious food and you're out. They sat us, again the girls helping us were amazing! When we finished and dessert came up, and it did it because the waitress brought it up, and we said yes sure to their donut with condensed milk, which literately took 3 minutes to bring out, the owner or whom appeared to Be the owner, said no were closed sorry. After we had been told offered and told yes, So basically we had everyone contributing to a great ambience and experience and the person who appeared to be in charge was just trying to get us out. Needless to say I do understand that it was closer to their close time but if that's the case and he doesn't want to serve people they should put up a "we stop serving at 9 or something so people don't go by their closing time. We are done by 10:16..and out the door by 10:22. The total bill will tip included was $170. Other than that. Highly highly recommend the food!!

Aharon K.

Yelp
Ricky Thai is the best. They closed down for renovations a couple months ago and i drive by every day to see if they are any closer to being open. I have not (and refuse to) eat any other pad Thai in Miami. It's simply non comparable. Their papaya salad is also out of control. Everything on the menu is Devine. Same owner for YEARS. I have no affiliation (i know this sounds very biased) but it's just the best Thai food around. If you haven't tried it, get in line once they reopen.

Elisa D.

Yelp
Truly authentic. Great service when you eat there. The food far exceeds the modest interior. Love to take out.

Jaciely C.

Yelp
Stopped by Ricky Thai for a quick dinner. My boyfriend grew up in north Miami and always tells me about this place being the best Thai food in Miami so of course we needed to make time for it. It did not disappoint, at all! We ordered the Thai spring rolls to start and they were the best spring rolls I've ever had. They do have pork inside but they're served with duck sauce and have the perfect crunch. For our entrees we ordered the drunken noodles with chicken and pad Thai also with chicken. The pad Thai was absolutely amazing!! It had flavors that were so authentic and I couldn't put my fork down. I didn't get a photo of our entrees because I was too excited but I highly recommend trying them out. Service was amazing as well! I was not disappointed at all and can't wait to be back!

kevin m.

Yelp
Too small a place and parking is lousy but good food and a lot of effort going into upkeep. Try not to notice the waiting hordes staring you down to leave. No reason not to go here weekly but go early. Hoping lunch hours aren't far away.

Delsa B.

Yelp
We miss you guys please open. We are waiting patiently for your return. We hope to see you very soon.

Gigi R.

Yelp
Place is very clean, pice is right. Food is super delicious and always fresh. Employees are very friendly and respectful. Julian, the owner makes himself available which really add a personal touch to this place.

Joanie H.

Yelp
After 7 months of renovations/expansion, Ricky Thai has re-opened! A much loved Mom and Pop restaurant that serves up great food. Take out only for now, but really looking forward to staffing up and enjoying the expanded/renovated space.

Fernando G.

Yelp
Nam Sod delicious . Friendly service . Moderate prices . Open for dinner . No reservation needed park in the back

Marisol B.

Yelp
If I have to rate this place there wouldn't be enough stars to express what I experience every time I go there. From the kindness and attention of his owner Giuliano to the sweetness of his Chef wife Majcha who is responsible for making the most delicious real Thai food in the whole Miami area. Me and my whole family love coming here and today, after picking up our order, we had the most flavorful and healthy dinner ever ... thank you Ricky Thai Bistro !!! and obviously looking forward to the big Opening !!!

Beverly R.

Yelp
The food was awesome, 2nd time doing the review here. However the waitress who looks Thai was over bearing a bit. You can say she is tooo too friendly and hovering over the table too much. She cut up the fish and served us but it splashed all over and we were not happy about it. It's a hole in the wall place but good food. I would say attentive to us but too up close. That's the only reason I am giving it a 4 star if not the food is 5 star!

Catalina U.

Yelp
They have re opened for take out! Yeyyy!! In a few weeks they will open their new dine in space. Food is just as delicious as always. So happy to have them back

Sosun K.

Yelp
This restaurant epitomizes authentic homemade Thai cuisine. I've eaten here several times, and the food has always been of the highest quality and flavor. Although it is a small restaurant, the food speaks for itself. I usually get the massaman curry with chicken because it's so flavorful and delicious. Their pad Thai is undeniably unique and flavorful, but I recently tried their beef drunken noodle dish and was so pleased with my choice that I ate every last tiny piece of it. Because the portions are all larger, I usually order one or two dishes to share. The prices are also very reasonable. The service is always excellent, and I enjoy the ambiance and energy that this establishment exudes. Don't even think about second guessing this incredible place.

Douglas M.

Yelp
Food is extra good kitchen is a bit slow no atmosphere limited parking. No cheap for rice.

Rajiv K.

Yelp
Our server, Daniel, was awesome. He brought such great energy and service to us from the moment we sat down to the time we left. Thank you Daniel! You pushed this review to a 5. The place is very casual. The food is good and affordable. We went with the papaya salad to start followed by sharing two vegetarian entrees: the masaman curry and drunken noodles. The portions were generous and the flavors tasty. The masaman had a nice light spiciness to it while the drunken noodles were sweet. The combo really worked. Especially since we also hit on the sour papaya salad starter. I ordered a Pellegrino which they offered an alternative. They did not overcharge for drinks like a lot of other places do. Super appreciated that. The alternative sparkling water which I took a photo was actually quite nice and my friend liked it more than Pellegrino. Once again, they way it was presented and served to us was a treat. Thank you again Daniel. My friend even remarked you had amazing service even compared to some 'fancier' spots we've had the fortune to visit. Give it a shot! Ask for Daniel! Tip him well! PS they have an adorable sign in the back warning you to be mindful of the ducks. How thoughtful. If I had only one suggestion for the place: try to clean up or hide better that back storage room and perhaps touch up / deeper clean the hidden corners more (I have crazy OCD so probably 'see' more than average). Cheers!

Rick C.

Yelp
Service was great and the food was even better. Make sure to try a bowl of soup. Tom Yum Goong and Tom Kha Goong are really delicious! The red curry with tofu(hot) is served in a bowl but easy to share. The cashew chicken is tasty but mild; easy for less adventurous palates. Can't wait to come back to Ricky's! They provide a QR code at the tables to get the menu. Here is a link to the menu: https://b360.s3.amazonaws.com/rickythai/Ricky-Thai-Bistro-Menu-Movil.pdf

Juan M.

Yelp
This little place is AMAZING! I think this is the restaurant that I go the most, I tried pretty much everything in the menu , but I keep coming back for the DRUNKEN NOODLES WITH PORK AND THE CURRY DUCK, I bring my friends here and I always make sure that they try the DUCK CURRY or DUCK BASIL, we always get a bottle of MONTEPULCIANO , they have a large selection of beer , I highly recommend this place , come hungry and ready to do a little wait

Olga G.

Yelp
Decent food but did not rock my boat. Large portions and attentive service. I ordered chicken green curry which was good but not amazing. Ambiance is of course nothing special.

Lola F.

Yelp
First time visiting here. The server was cool and helpful and asked me if I wanted it spicy I said yes and they asked if I wanted Thai spicy or normal spicy not sure why but I said normal (I guess I doubted my abilities for spicy food) and it wasn't spicy so she was nice and brought chili flakes. I ordered the chili paste chicken and I did love it. So my advice to anyone going here is if you love spicy food never doubt yourself you can totally handle "Thai spicy".

Sajani J.

Yelp
Decent place to get Thai food! They have green curry fried rice, which was amazing! No curry needed to eat along with it! They are also able to make the food vegetarian if asked. They just remove the fish sauce and shrimp paste and don't substitute it with something else, so that might be why the food was bland. The do make the food spicy if you ask, which is great. The white rice to curry ratio was off so we had a ton of extra curry left. And it's extra if you want more rice.

Shivani P.

Yelp
I'm not from Miami but this is exactly what I would describe as a hole in the wall. Every dish that we had was DELICIOUS. My in-laws don't eat spicy food which I'm not used to eating non-spicy Thai food, but I have to say... I did NOT miss the spice. It was so flavorful as is. I forgot our waitresses name but she was so sweet and gave us a cute little shot of Thai tea after our meal. I would definitely go back if I'm ever in Miami again.

Victor V.

Yelp
Atmosphere is amazing and I wish they would open up from there remodeling I can't wait to get food from them anymore I need it and want it

Angela C.

Yelp
Yes yes yes! I was craving Pad Thai and man did this hit the spot!! Incredible. Huge portion. Nice and hot! Will be back here over and over again. The vegetable spring rolls were also incredible.

Lilly M.

Yelp
Honestly the best pad Thai I've ever had! I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor and quality for this hole in the wall establishment. I will definitely be back.

Denisse R.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. To start off, the staff were so welcoming it felt as if I was in a family members home. The food was very tasty & the location was cozy. I definitely recommenf that you come with your lover or good friend.

Luxury23 2.

Yelp
I've been a customer for over 10 years. The food is amazing and the customer service is great. Ambiance is low key and good vibes.

David K.

Yelp
Very disappointed with this restaurant, I've been here several times but my visit 1/3/2022 it was not a good experience, after a long day of work we decided to stop by Ricky's Thai Bistro for dinner we ordered the ginger sauce and garlic sauce with mix vegetables, The sauce in both dishes was extremely salty and the mangement was not very helpful. I will never go back to this restaurant ever again.

Nicole P.

Yelp
It's a really easy spot to have a good meal, it's not fancy, has no frills. I almost feel like I'm in a cafeteria but the food is really good and the service is super attentive.

Roman K.

Yelp
The food here was really really good. Prices are very competitive, and service was really great too. I like it, nothing flashy here, just good ol fashioned Thai food in the classic style we first knew it. And yeah, did I mention, the food is really amazing.

Brad R.

Yelp
The last time I was here I ordered the duck. I seem to always order the duck. However, the last time I was here I struck up a conversation with the ladies sitting next to me. They ordered the fish at market price. It looked amazing. This time around I ordered the fish. I am so glad that I did. Again, the customer service was amazing. Every time I come here the service is amazing. This time, Jenny the server not only brought the food but also trimmed the fish and served it to our plates. You can't find this kind of service in Miami. This place is amazing. I am so happy I found it. If you haven't eaten here, you are missing out.

Brian J.

Yelp
Best Thai in Miami. Pretty long drive for us, but we do it because it's that good. It's about the food not location.

Angel C.

Yelp
Excellent Thai food, far away from a "chain restaurant", this is authentic, ethnic, real exquisite recipes from Thailand. The best in all North Miami. I rarely give four stars, but this place deserved. You won't regret it.

Lidia M.

Yelp
I love small establishments like this because the food is authentic. This is my absolute favorite Thai restaurant in Miami! The staff are amazing, but I haven't had anything that I sent back. Also, the veggie pad thai is one of my favs!!!

Liza C.

Yelp
The best food and service! I would give more star but there's not enough stars to give to this place!! It's a treasure to have this place in Miami! I am for sure coming back with more friends to share my experience!

John C.

Yelp
What a great place for your Thai cravings. Fresh ingredients, and the spices are delicious. I believe I met the owner and he was so kind and made the atmosphere enjoyable with his lovely Staff! Thank you for everything. Your restaurant is a diamond in the rough

Bianca B.

Yelp
Great food great service. The space was homey and the food didn't take to long to come out. The menu had a great authentic selection of Thai food.

Meg L.

Yelp
We're in love with Ricky Thai Bistro! The food is amazing...everything was. The service was great and the food was so delicious. We live in South Dade and are willing to drive to North Miami for their offerings. I highly recommend it!!!
