This is an S tier meat shop. The selection of cured and smoked meats are legendary. I've been coming for years and still feel intimidated walking inside. First timers can try out the smoked gouda, some salami, maybe some smoked wagyu/picanha. Don't feel pressured to order right away, look around and ask for recommendations.

Google
The only place I'll buy meat! I usually wander in, no objective in mind, and point at something, buy it, and it's always fire! They have this "ham" that's two pork loins put together with some asian-inspired seasonings on the outside 👅 Always buy more than you think you need; it's that good! Also, if you'd like something ground in-house, make sure to come when it's not busy + plenty of time before they close!

Ashley

Google
Quality meats but they're never open. Status on Google said 'open' but the shop was closed after pulling up at 12:15pm Saturday. This isn't the first time this has happened. Update: they're more consistent now!

Google
the best! Smoked meats, Steaks, Ribeye, NYStrip, Sirloin, skirt, flank.... Home made fresh sausage, smoked sausage, cheeses, beautiful little store! You have to see it! Visit this store, ask for a taste they late you try anything you like...

Google
Really good quality butcher that toes the line between modern high end stuff and normal butcher stuff that you might have found in every neighborhood butcher 60 years ago. Really refreshing.

Google
A neighborhood gem. Excellent quality, and a legit old school NYC aesthetic. Love this place!

Yelp
My friend Lewi introduced me the Ridgewood Pork Store. It was only the beginning of the apocalypse and I hadn't really left my house. He told me about the seafood pop up, Eric Schlesinger would do Friday and Saturday. This was one of the few times I would leave the house. During this time I made crab cakes, Crab Louie salad, crab Benedict for brunch, salmon and some super fancy scallops. Schlesinger said you would have to make sure to message him for the scallops. He had no idea how popular they were. During the holidays I treated my self to some salmon but also smoked trout dip. The dip was an absolute decadence on a Ritz cracker. Made that time extra special! I like cooking salmon simply, making a grilled veggie and mashed potatoes. Gives me the feels of a fancy restaurant but it's at home and it's so much cheaper. And this summer the left over salmon on a bed of spinach with peaches and avocados is a must! The shop is small. If you are a regular meat lover this is the place. It's local and fresh. Reminds me a lot of the butcher shops in Germany. Everyone is always super friendly and helpful! It's always super organized too. Everything has its place. The neighborhood loves the shop and you can see the support. Secretly we love living in one of the world's largest cities but getting those small town vibez.

Yelp
The food is amazing. I always get the homemade sausage but they have a ton of options for fish, pate, etc. but the stuff they make in the shop is the best in the city. Awesome people, very generous and helpful. Cool space to be in (it smells wonderful and smokey).

David R.

Yelp
Spent $109 on various stuff including bacon jam, Cajun pastrami, espresso wild boar salami, angus bauette, pork pate, duck pate, mex burgers, wagyu burgers, morcilla, etc

Yelp
This place is meat heaven. And everything is so affordable! Got a merguez pinwheel, three giant brats, a big ole slab of pork belly. All for under $35! Everything was delicious. Perfectly cured. They're also a grocery with a ton of Polish and European cooking ingredients for sale. For some reason, I thought they only took cash, but they take cards! Definitely a must if you're in the neighborhood and having a BBQ!

Yelp
Went to the local Farmer's market and purchased supposedly seven slices of bacon for nine dollars from this business who had a stand there. When I opened the package the next morning to cook the bacon, I counted three full slices of bacon. Three full slices of bacon, instead of the seven I was told, for nine dollars. Very disappointed in their dishonesty. Do NOT trust this business.

Yelp
I was biking around exploring new parts of BK and Queens and cought a whiff of smokey pork goodness. Was not disappointed when I entered and saw the meat selection. Left with house smoked bacon, chorizo, lamb sausage and mergez all delicious. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
This is an amazing establishment. Amazing selection of charcuterie and sausages. I always leave the store with a couple of extra items the butcher wants me to try. Great family vibes and the pantry items they sell are pretty delicious. Great mustards, spices, pickles of every kind. Staff are super friendly and you can always count on finding something you didn't realize you love. Don't be afraid to ask for recommendations, samples, and preparation advice. They also have a selection of cheeses that look very appealing.

Yelp
An outstanding German butcher and grocery shop in the German neighborhood of Ridgewood Queens around since 1975. A great selection of fresh and smoked meats and hard to find German groceries with a friendly staff. The smell upon entering is amazing! So happy an old school German butcher like this is still around, hope they stay forever.

Yelp
Just moved to the area looking for a new spot for meat products. Went in and asked for a 1.5 inch ribeye. They gave me a strip steak and charged me for it. They handed me the steak wrapped up so I didn't realize till I got home. Taking my business to the Halal butcher on Cypress. Much more respectful of their customers.

Yelp
Some women impulse buy shoes. I buy meat. Invariably, it winds up in the back of our freezer until I get inspired to do something with it. So it was with the Peppered-Bacon we bought from here a couple months ago, which I recently unearthed: Thick-cut, chewy, and smoky, with a peppery kick, this is bacon that demands to be savored. Cherished even. We did exactly that, serving it alongside my latest brunch recipe crush, a kale-kimchi omelette. I was less enamored with the Ground Pork from here. While definitely more flavorful than the sad, overly lean Whole Foods or Fairway stuff I usually buy, I was looking for fatty and unctuous. (Alas, I think I will need to explore Chinatown for that). That being said, this little shop offers friendly, personal service and samples of whatever charcuterie that may catch your eye. If I lived nearby, I'd be here all the time. Who needs shoes?

Yelp
I got a beautiful turkey breast from these guys for thanksgiving. Was super impressed by the specialty items and prices. Their sausages especially look great. Looking forward to trying those! They also have a local fish monger. I definitely recommend supporting this small business.

Yelp
Excellent all sorts of smoked sausage and pork. The ribeye is also good. You can smell the smoke from 2 blocks away

Yelp
Stopped in really quick because of the current reviews and you can not go wrong with the excellent service we received today. The guy behind the counter was very informative and even let us have a sample to try of the smoked salami. I'm not a meat eating fan but my husband is and he went crazy ordering many things in here. We walked out with paying only $27 and having a bunch of items. 4 sausages, 1/2lb peppered bacon, a block of aged cheddar cheese and 4 smoked pork chops. This review will be later updated based on the taste. I just felt the need to express how great this small place is. I love when I walk into places and get the best customer service ever.

Yelp
One of the best specialty butcher shops. This is a second generation owned business. All meats are smoked on premise. Not too many of these left. They make their own sausage. Try the smoked waygu. It will melt in your mouth.
google avatar

Allie K.

Yelp
This place is the real deal. Try any of their smoked kielbasas or salamis and thank me later. They occasionally have pastrami and it's the greatest thing ever. Tom is the best too! Feels like home every time I walk in the door.
google avatar

Damian G.

Yelp
Tons of sausages with 10 consonants in the name, gruff (yet strangely very friendly) service, and dirt cheap. Purchased enough to leave 10 stoners the "itis" for less than 40 bucks. Kielbasa is stellar.

Yelp
Great customer experience, the best meat shop in Brooklyn, definitely will come back. The guy Tom was very friendly and helpful, and let us try all different kinds of meat and cheese. Great great great experience.

Yelp
Great customer service, samples of everything, low prices - an outstanding experience! Can't wait for BBQ season! Updated July 2017: my latest visit has me convinced that this is the best butcher in New York. Amazing meat and prepackaged items, incredible home-made items you'll never see anywhere else (a jar of Bourbon Bacon Spread!) The prices are beyond reasonable. Note: during the summer months, they have a tent at Northport, LI's farmers' market in the Cow Harbor parking lot (Saturdays). The two times I have been at this market and seen this tent, it's been mobbed by hungry Long Islanders who clearly know a good thing when they taste it. Get to the tent, or better yet, get to this shop!

Yelp
I absolutely love this place, which is an Old World-style deli that cures their own meats and grinds their own blends of sausages. They also carry a selection of cheeses so you can have a little charcuterie plate at your parties (or even just for a quick and light snack or dinner.) Everything is delicious, and the staff will help you chose if you are overwhelmed by the selection. Try the smoked chorizo or some slices of the "double k". Best of all, this spot is a neighborhood fixture, so you'll be supporting a piece of vintage New York.

Yelp
The guys that run this place are not only knowledgable about their products, but they make great recommendations and are so friendly. The first time I went here it was for cured meats...and they gave us samples of SIX different products that they make. I left with cured meat for days! The second time I went here was to pick up pork shoulder for some homemade sausage I was making. I left with 10lbs of pork shoulder and 2lbs of their cured bacon (most of which went into a chicken sausage I was making as well.) THE BEST BACON OF MY LIFE. A must visit if you like quality meat and are in the Bushwick/Ridgewood area.

Yelp
Tom and the owner are the friendliest, most helpful people in Ridgewood. They know more about the art of living than one could dream. If cured meats and genuine folks are your things, go no further.

Yelp
I just visited for the first time this Saturday. I was really impressed. I told the guy working the counter that I wasn't familiar with a lot of their meat, and I was just looking for something to grill. He was really friendly, and he took a lot of time with me, and gave me a wide variety of things to sample. They slice this smoked lamb with rosemary, and it's great on sandwiches. I also got some smoked beef sliced for sandwiches, and you have to see this stuff to believe it--it's marbled like a good steak. Boar's Head is dead to me. I wound up buying a lot. I expected to pay twice as much, and I would've been happy to do that. I was blown away by how great this place is in every way. I'm coming back every week.

Yelp
I just went there for the first time and I will never go anywhere for meat again!!! you walk in and it smells like amazing salami. And the owners were sooo nice and very helpful. And the meat was amazing!!! I got a half pound of German salami and it was gone by the next day!!

Yelp
I have found my meat Mecca and I henceforth kneel on butchers paper twice a day pointing towards Ridgewood Pork Store. I pulled up to RPS five minutes til close with my visiting parents in from Minneapolis. The kick-ass butcher open the gate back up and let us in anyway with a big smile on his face. I could tell it was a man that loved his work. We proceeded to spend another 45-minutes in his store. Inside is a gallery of fine smoked meats I challenge you to find anywhere else in NYC. We tried many different items and by "tried" I mean the butcher stacks enough sliced meat on the counter to fill a hoagie. Cured Beef, smoked lamb, hot pork sausage, duck breast, lamb pate, hazelnut/walnut salami, paprika speck, beef tongue head cheese...the list rides on and on and all of it is great. We left this place with more meat than four people can eat for three days straight. $25. No shit. My sister and I ended up buying an entire ham for Father's Day. It's cured so I can just pop in in a box with the Phillip Glass CD I bought him. It gives my comfort to imagine my old man thinly slicing this delicious ham with some nice bread, wine, and Ulster Orchestra Violin Concerto II in the background. Do yourself a favor and pay Ridgewood Pork Store a visit. It really is a gem of a place.

Yelp
To say this is the best smoked meat store in the 5 boroughs would be a gross understatement. It's the best smoked meat store in the universe! With great prices too!
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
I left here with about ten pounds of meat and paid $20. Need I say more? Yes. They are really generous with samples and are knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic. My current smoked meat obsession is a dried salami-like meat made with white wine and hazelnuts.

T K.

Yelp
Unbelievably wonderful. They smoke their own meats, make their own sausages, hand cut everything, have duck and rabbit and just about anything else you want, and they cost... almost nothing? Could I really have left with that much meat for only $20? Did I just pay for 5 chops, 3 sausages, half a pound of bacon and two duck legs what a single chop would cost the Meat Hook? Am I dreaming? I miss Europe a little less today. Thank you, Ridgewood Pork Store, for being so goddamn fantastic.

Yelp
The other day I was at a farmers market on Long Island and Ridgewood pork store had a little stand. The man that was working was nice and offered me to try some of the selections they had. The smoked pork loin is incredible! I ended up taking plenty home with me. Most smoked meats are pretty dry. Not this one... It was really juicy in the center and was very very delicious. If you are a fellow pork lover you have to go to this place.

Mickey R.

Yelp
This is the best butcher shop in NYC. I've had all kinds of charcuterie, fresh sausage, bacon and whole pigs from here, and they've never disappointed. Most recently I came from Manhattan to get andouille (as well as a bunch of other cured meats) for red beans and rice. It was absolutely grade A. I left with Vietnamese ham as well, meat that is being produced for banh mi at Nha Minh, a local restaurant. The butcher here is an artist and a gentleman, and his work enhances the quality of life of every single person who comes into this store! Just go and buy something and count yourself lucky to live in a place where delicacies like this are available to you.

Robert L.

Yelp
You can smell the smoke house working from two blocks away. Bought some smoked & fresh sausage for the Easter holiday and some cevapi just in time for grilling season. I did pretty good for $30.00.
google avatar

jessica N.

Yelp
This place is incredible. They make tons of their products in-house and there's a really old-school, small-town vibe inside. Customer service is excellent: friendly, knowledgeable, amazing! I got some Swedish lingonberry preserves too.
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of the best cured Eastern European Stores. If you are uncertain what the meats are, Borov will slice you up samples, along with a to-go meat stick. They have MANY different types of dried sausages from Krakowska Kielbasa to Chorizo. They are open til 5pm everyday, and the prices are great. I bought 3 dried sausages and a 1/2 lb of serbian sausage sliced for under $10. Close to the Dekalb L stop. I will be coming here from now on. Support local eastern european delis.

Dang J.

Yelp
This place is great! Amazing selection of delicious meats and with a super helpful staff. The smell of the place is heavenly. Try the smoked pork shoulder. Will be back again and again.

Norbert W.

Yelp
Great old school butcher. Much more than just pork too like rabbit, awesome dried and smoked sausages lamb and beef, smoked duck is amazing.
