Yelp
There's more to San Fernando's West Valley than commercial property, shopping centers, and Pierce College! Uncover some hidden gems in the unlikeliest of places, like on the way to your eye doctor's office for a routine exam. On the corner of Owensmouth Avenue and Vanowen Street, in the lobby of an inconspicuous offbuilding lives the sweetest and only Baked Tofu Donuts in Los Angeles - Ring Baked Tofu Donuts! Open Tuesday-Sunday, 8am-3pm. CLOSED Monday's.
Food/Drinks:
SWEET! Ring is all about bringing a FUN new Japanese style to America. According to Ring, their Japanese style baked tofu donuts are made by a highly skilled Japanese pastry chef using high-quality ingredients from all over the world. RING's baked tofu donuts are ALL gluten-free sweets and all of Ring's ingredients are GMO-free. For a in-depth look at Ring's ingredients visit their website.
Biting into a Ring baked tofu donut is to taste one of the fluffiest, naturally sweet circular baked cakes ever to be called a donut - without all the gluttonous guilt. For starters, Ring donuts are significantly smaller than traditional deep fried American donuts. Think Krispy Kreme. A thinner, slightly smaller donut allows you enjoy its bold flavors without feeling full and disgusted with yourself. Skeptical? Sure, it's nothing like a traditional old fashioned, or glazed maple bar and more like a delicate, unfrosted cake ring!
Ring signature donuts are $3.00, vegan options $3.25. Ring baked tofu donut flavors vary DAILY and include: matcha green tea, honey, red velvet, double chocolate, Earl Gray, chocolate chip, brown sugar, maple bacon, banana bread, banana chocolate chip, kumquat, cheese, ube, Vietnamese coffee, rose, rum raisin, lemon, Azuki (red bean), lavender, and soy sauce. Which is a reason alone to come back for!Ring says their donuts keep in a refrigerator for a whole week, or put them in a freezer for 30 days. For the ultimate sweet satisfaction Ring recommends warming up your donuts about 10 seconds in the microwave to rejuvenate their fluffyness.
Ring Baked Tofu Donuts also specializes in hot/cold drinks, like their #1 selling signature Sea Salt Cream Iced Coffee ($4.25-5.25). Also available in matcha, mocha, and chocolate. Flip it, shake it, and enjoy it! Also try: matcha lemonade, Yuzu lemonade, and iced Calpico (a tasty creamy tropical treat w/ over 100 years of Japanese history!)
My personal favorites are the kumquat and red velvet tofu donuts washed down w/ a small 16oz sea salt cream iced coffee.
Service:
On it! Expect to wait for your gift boxes and drinks to be prepared but being in a medical building traffic is light outside of the peak morning rush. Online orders are available for pickup in store. Gift boxes are available in dozen ($34.50) and half dozen ($17.50). For wholesale and franchise options visit website.
Ambiance:
CUTE! Ring's philosophy is, "that we will offer the rearranged Japanese style fun to American people." Stepping foot into Ring's kawaii little donut hole I'd say it's living up to the hype. How many Totoro's can you find? See the pics for yourself! On sunny days, the covered patio makes for an enjoyable sun spot to sip coffee and dunk tofu donuts.
Thank you Ring Baked Tofu Donuts!
