2019 Oscar and Golden Globes Films with London Restaurant Locations - Eater London

"This story of forbidden lesbian love is set in north London’s Orthodox Jewish community but has scenes set halfway across London, in the Vallance Road outpost of Rinkoff’s 107-year-old Jewish bakery. Ronit, played by Rachel Weisz, who was nominated as best actress at the 2019 London Critics Circle awards for her performance, heads to the bustling café for a pastry and a coffee when she’s feeling low. Which is quite often, as it happens." - Sophie Wilkinson

Friendly and welcoming staff, delicious food. Absolutely loved the Biscoff cronut! I also had a bagel with smoked salmon & cream cheese, super simple yet very tasty.

The cherry cronut is really good. Personally I prefer a bit less jam, but the flavours really complimented each other and it wasn't overly sweet.

There is nothing wrong with the atmosphere or service. That’s not why I’m writing this review or what I went there for. It’s these delicious goodies that’s why. The red velvet was to die for, these are exquisite. I thought it was just a gimmick but they taste great and the texture is amazing. I shared them with my colleagues and they were also impressed.

We had a bagel each and a raspberry crodough. Both were extremely delicious. Definitely worth a visit.

Been wanting to try Rinkoffs for some time after seeing some glowing recommendations online. The praise was well deserved. Ordered a Toasted Salt Beef Bagel and Custard Cronut. The Salt Beef is so good and just falls apart with each bite. The mustard and pickles just give it that perfect bite. The Custard Cronut was dense and delicious with a nice flaky dough and sweet custard filling and topping. My only regret is I'm not local to the area and rarely travel through London. But when I do I'll be sure to make a detour to this place.

Crodough's are so yummy! Bagels are delicious - generous filling. Lovely people behind the counter. I'd recommend and I'd come back. I had the Biscoff Crodough and the Brie and sundried tomatoe rainbow bagel 🌈

I come here for lunch! Best bagels, and very quick service. I go for the salt beef bagel. Their baked cheesecakes are good too.

110yr old bakery established by a master baker from Russia is located at a certain distance from Brick lane. This family run store sells bagels, bread and other baked goods and the star attraction - crodough. We visited mid September late afternoon & wanted to try the pistachio and salt caramel crodough but it was long gone & we had to settle for the lemon crodough and added slices of plain cheesecake and raisin cheesecake to our plate. Yes, we had overordered. The plain cheesecake tasted similar to a Japanese soufflé styled cotton cheesecake. We took one crodough home & I felt it tasted better slightly warm. Good place for breakfast or snack in East London. And any time is a good time for crodough !

Yelp
Rinkoff bakery is the place to get your cronuts in town. I was craving for cronut and this appeared, so i went there. It was really good in my opinion. Got some different flavours to try different things. This is recommended to me and would go back again in the future to try the other cronuts flavour. I personally think they are not that sweet and has perfect flavours.

Yelp
What a great experience! I read about the famous Crodough before my visit to London, so this bakery was at the top of my list to try. Even though I've attempted numerous times, I've never been able to get the Cronut in San Francisco, so I made trying the Crodough a priority. Glad I did! I got the peanut butter and jelly along with a cup of English tea to round out my experience. It was tall and denser then I expected but each layer was delightfully fluffy. I especially loved that the peanut butter was of the crunchy variety and the jam was the perfect level of sweetness. All in all it was a fun, tasty experience and a great treat. My brother works nearby and when I mentioned to his coworkers I was visiting Rinkoff's, everyone groaned and said "it's sooo good!" so clearly this is a local favorite too. On a side note, the staff was so friendly and sweet. One of the staff seemed to be courting a girl, bringing her different baked goods to try and I felt like I was in the middle of a sweet indie flick listening to him woo her with baked treats while the rest of the staff ribbed him and demanded to meet his new girlfriend. Meanwhile, the bakery is next door to a senior community, so as the older folks walked by, they all waved at the staff like old friends. The whole experience was so sweet, such a nice imprint in my memory, I hope your visit is even half as good as mine and you'll be pleased.

Yelp
The Cronut... I came.. I saw... I ate.. I heard about all this cronut rage in NY, but was intrigued that it was getting so much attention in London, too. During my visit to the home of the Big Clock (haha), I convinced myself that it was in my best interested to carry on place of residence's traditional CaffeundKuchen (coffee and cake). As I walked around this area trying to find this place, I walked through commercial parts of what seems to be only auto shops, specifically focusing on the maintenance of taxis. I continued to walk around to find this bakery, despite the shady, overweight, mechanics gawking at me and the uncomfortable whistles; let's not even start on the topic of the car that pulled over to chat to me. The end of the tunnel was near, or at least I was hoping so, and a tasty cronut and a cappuccino was motivating me to get to the destination. Atlas, I have arrived! I walk into the bakery, only to be able to step in barley getting both feet inside the door. Quite a line formed on a Friday afternoon, however as I gazed around, no one was munching on these croissant-like donuts. Many ordered sandwiches, as the bakery as a fresh selection of in house baked breads, and of course a coffee drink to go with it. Before ordering my afternoon snack, used the restroom, only to be rushed out in disgust. I have (unfortunately) used gas station bathrooms that were cleaner than here. And to think this is a bakery :/ I contemplated between which flavor to get. After snapping a shot of the lined up dough creations, one of the guys behind the counter recommended the custard cronut. Per his recommendation, I sat at the counter with my custard-filled and topped cronut, with a hot cappuccino in hand. So how did this taste? Well, it's greasy... probably one of the most greasy donuts or croissants I've ever tasted. Also, it was heavy and dense. I was really disappointed as I imagined my first bite would be a light, fluffy taste of heaven. What I got was a thick, oily, pastry with a good custard filling/topping. After sharing my experience with some fellow London foodies, I was told that I should have tried the raspberry. But the topping wasn't the issue, it was the cronut dough itself and how it was baked. Is it possible I got a bad batch? Is it possible that a different flavor really makes a difference? Maybe so, but all I know is I will not be back, and my cronut-seeking adventure ends here.

Yelp
The last Jewish bakery in the area Rinkoff Bakery specializes in breads and sweets from traditional old recipes. Cheesecakes, apple strudels, chola, sourdough and rye breads with biegels are all available for industry and retail. The bakery was established in 1911 by Mr.Rinkoff and still maintains Jewish cakes and recipes from Russia. Today there is a small tea shop with modern cappuccinos and sandwiches as well as gifty "Rinkoff " cookie packages. It is a tourist stop after all ! ! and the Kray brothers used to live just down the street - ! Besides all of this the prices are amazing and pastry's good -I highly recommend buying the little mini bite size pastries at 35p a pop and you can easily sample all flavours without breaking your budget /diet

Yelp
A bit of a walk to get here but the strong black coffee was worth it. The crodough was a bit to cloyingly sweet for me. Thankfully the coffee was dark, strong, and roasted goodness!

Yelp
The guy who served me was absolutely lovely, but his boss wouldn't let him accept the check in offer! Cheeky. This cafe is a wonderful little place to stop for lunch, if a little stuffy at times. I've seen people saying that it is expensive, but I don't really agree for the quality and quantity you get, it is totally reasonable. If you really want to save a few pennies - take your order to go and enjoy it in the nearby green. What I would say though is that if you are coming for the crodoughs, get here early as the supply is limited. You may also find that by the afternoon they have become a bit stodgy, so make sure you bring a friends to share with :)

Yelp
Lovely stuff. Well worth checking out the original Jewish breads. I actually live near the bakery itself, so it's funny seeing this place market itself as a come in, sit down, spend a while kind of shindig. They do very very good bread, cakes and pastries. So everything to eat here is rather wonderful. I tend to go beigels. But that's just me. I like the way they're well aware of their history. There's a big picture of Mr Rinkoff himself painted on the wall above the shop, which is a bit of fun. So it's nice that they're in touch with all that. Interior-wise, nothing which screams amazing, but then I'd go that any day when a couple of blocks away, every little patisserie mock-up is trying SO HARD to be WHATEVER. So, it's nice that they done something as unassuming as this

Yelp
Hailing from North America, the brunch tradition dies hard in me. Over in the New World I can often be heard moaning about how bourgeois all of the lining up on Sunday mornings for Eggs Benedict and rapini omelettes has become, but I succumb regularly to the morning-after charms of sitting down to a pot of tea and a hearty meal in mixed company. Whereas brunch in North American cities is quite common, in these parts it's a different story. And while I genuinely appreciate a hot dish and a mimosa, I tend to stick with more basic fare here in London town. Rinkoff's fits the bill beautifully. Utterly unpretentious, draped in history and turning out perfectly authentic Old World Eastern European baked goods, Rinkoff's makes my history fetishist heart sing - and my tastebuds. It's cheap, it's cheerful, and it's easy to get in and out without sacrificing your entire early weekend afternoon, leaving plenty of time for gallery-hopping.

Yelp
After reading other's reviews regarding the Crodoughs I had to try one. We went around 1pm and most of them were already gone but I tried the custard and the apple crumb filling. These were literally the tastiest, freshest, most delicious things I've eaten the whole time I've been on holiday in London ( two weeks.) My husband had a brie and ham on a bagel pressed and that was also super tasty. If I was a local I'd literally eat at this place every chance I got!

Yelp
So cool, such an old-fashioned shop and the waiter was so polite. He explained the story of the store and showed me photos. Need to go again!
