"Recreating the vaunted Chicago-style hot dog has been a challenge for New York City. Famously, Shake Shack offers a version that falls short. Now newly opened Rip’s Malt Shop in Greenwich Village has assembled a rendition ($8) that’s accurate in nearly every detail, being topped with a dill pickle spear, tomato, neon relish, celery salt, raw onion, sport peppers, and yellow mustard. What might be a flaw is actually a plus: a vegan frank that manages to taste good on its own. The chocolate malt, made with Van Leeuwen’s vegan ice cream and oat milk, is also worth sampling." - Eater Staff

My wife and I ate here yesterday. My wife is very finicky, usually she does not like the vegan food in the places I take her. At Rip's she loved the food. I loved the food as well. The service was first rate. I highly recommend this shop to anyone who wants great vegan food. I had the chili, she had the BLT, we both walked away very happy and plan to return the next time we are in the area.

Best vegan burgers in town! The Rip's burger with chili and bacon is really good and so is the macaroni salad. I tried a regular double cheeseburger the second time I came here and it was also very good. Although the offerings are pretty different, if you like Monty's in LA, you should definitely check this place out! The vibe is similar (very filling food, vegan version of a classic burger place). Also, the owner was there cooking both times I went and he was very nice to all of the customers which is awesome.

Everything here is delicious. So many vegan places have that organic, health food vibe. As a vegan, what I miss most are diners and comfort food places, and Rip’s delivers. Love the chopped cheese (huge portion), breakfast sandwich, and shakes. I also usually take a potato salad home to eat later, warmed up - it’s like a delicious vegan baked potato in a bowl.

This spot is fire! I’m a vegetarian and have a pretty picky palette when it comes to veggie burgers. The egg and cheese burger is one of my favorites in NYC. Ask about hidden gems on the secret menu for amazing and creative food items that change out often. My friends who aren’t vegetarian can’t believe how good this food is. Rip’s is a highly recommended grub spot in West Village.

Great vibes in a small package! I came late at night and already ate but was determined to have SOMETHING from here since I'm not often in the area. Ordered an oat milk shake. It was delicious even by itself - next time I'll try one of their many mix-ins. Pro tip - let it melt a little then just drink out the cup - the paper straws, which are a great choice and I thank them for providing paper - don't really work well with a thick shake. Next time I'll try some of the food because let me tell you - everything looks amazing and the place smelled great!

The food was so yummy! I got a single patty burger. Pretty simple. The only reason why I didn’t give 5 stars was bc during the time I went really wanted to try a shake but they only had two ice cream flavors, coffee or vanilla. Ew. Anyways, food was great and love the overall movement. Also, cute for IG pics.

100% the best vegan milkshake and burger I've had. If you're in the area definitely check it out. It's small so you may have to take it to-go, but worth it!
