"Risotteria was a gluten-free Italian restaurant that opened in 1999 and closed in 2016 due to rent increases. It was known for its gluten-free menu and was a popular spot in the neighborhood." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya

I had the risotto with mushrooms and truffle oil and it was pretty good. Simple, but tasty. My friend was happy with her salad. The gluten free breadstick was surprisingly tasty (we had low expectations). The service wasn't very good: we sat at the bar and they carelessly pushed into me and spilled water on my side a couple times. It's a small place, and it's OK, but I wouldn't recommend making it a point to visit or wait if there's a line.

My nephew, his GF (who can't eat gluten) and I went there this weekend during a day-trip. The service is excellent, well attended to, but not over-attended which can be a nuisance. Once you get past the risotto, the menu was sparse. We all had a mixed green salad with balsamic, and those were cold, fresh and not overly dressed, an excellent salad. The entree's were not as stellar, but it's a risotto place, so non-risotto items are not the emphasis. All in all, I would return.

I have mixed feelings about this place. On one hand, the food SUPER YUMMY! I had the best risotto I ever had in my life! I had the mozzarella, mushrooms and truffle oil risotto. It was perfectly cooked and the portions were just right - not too little and not too much. I came back with my parents less then a week after my initial visit, mostly because their menu is almost fully gluten-free, which is perfect for my celiac-y father. The bread sticks (also gluten free) are amazing. I could munch on them all day long. If we put the food aside, the service in this place can, and should, be improved greatly... The waiter in the first time I was there was really "pushy" and aggressive. I felt like she's yelling at me. Also, when my friends and I left, the waiter and us had a bit of a fight over the tip (we thing we gave more then enough). This was a bitter end for an amazing dinner. Also, please notice that this place can only handle ONE CARD! So bring cash!! We were surprised to hear that (first time I encounter a place like this in NY), and we had a real hard time to split the bill.

Great treatment by staff! Very hospitable, willing and helpful. I felt like I was a local with the welcome and execution of my experience. I had an amazing Gluten Free Lasagna with gluten free Breas sticks!!! Check them out: Risotteria - The Pioneers of Gluten Free Dining. Ask about the Lasagna because it's not on the menu. ;-) I will recommend to everyone!

Even if you aren't gluten-free, this place is a must. The tables are first come first serve, so I recommend going on a Monday or Tuesday to get a table. The gluten-free breadsticks are delicious and the food is hard to beat. A very cute place that is also a bakery which is perfect for the sweet tooth after Italian.

The best GF in NYC, hands down. Literally every single New Yorker with celiac or gluten intolerance that I know personally loves this place. The quality of risotto is fantastic, and the pizzas are absolutely delicious. Because they are small and in such demand, they don't do reservations. Be ready to have someone arrive early to save a table if you're eating in a group!

Gluten free, good for vegans and vegetarians. I think your best bet here is to go with a friend, pick out two risottos, and swap halfway through. It takes a lot of finish an entire bowl yourself. I wish I had skipped the wine here; the menu is a bit uninspired when compared to the beer selection, which would have held up to the truffle oil and risotto flavor much better.

This place was great! I'm not crazy for risotto, but I really enjoyed the Risotteria. We started out with the arugula salad with mozzarella, dried tomato, and onions. We got it with a delicious lemony dressing! Then we tried the mozzarella & pesto risotto. It resembled green oatmeal, but tasted great! The mozzarella pizzette was pretty good too, though less remarkable than everything else.
