"Perched on a hill above the Ionian Sea, this family-run estate pairs a 17th-century baronial nucleus — with a wine cellar, oil mill and tiny church — with Mediterranean gardens, centuries-old olive trees and citrus groves. Hospitality is central: guests stay in rooms or mini-apartments furnished with local ceramics and begin days with gourmet breakfasts showcasing seasonal fruit, organic juices and jams, artisanal bread and local cured meats and cheeses. The on-site Dattilo restaurant (a Michelin star since 2011 and recipient of a green star for eco-friendly practices) is led by the estate’s chef, who draws heavily on the organic farm for flavorful, imaginative cooking. Olive oil and wine are the backbone of the experience, and visitors can extend their stay with horseback riding, sailing, yoga, guided trekking or restorative walks in the nearby Pantano Natural Oasis. Wine to try: Val di Neto Dattilo Gaglioppo, an organically farmed Gaglioppo picked at night, is structured and spicy and pairs well with the intense flavors of Calabrian cuisine." - Federico De Cesare Viola
"In a world of haute cuisine still dominated by male chefs, Caterina Ceraudo stands out for her authoritative presence and large personality. Her restaurant is housed in a charming agriturismo which offers simple guestrooms decorated in attractive, rustic style, a beautiful swimming pool shaded by thousand-year-old olive trees, and traditional produce such as wine, olive oil, cedro and orange marmalades, and fruit juices. All of this provides a fitting backdrop for Caterina’s modern, creative and yet unfussy cuisine which is made using local ingredients and showcased on two tasting menus and a fixed-price à la carte. The tour of the property with owner Roberto (the chef’s father), a forerunner of organic agriculture in the region who, together with his family, has dedicated his life to this farm, is both instructive and enjoyable." - Michelin Inspector
"Caterina Ceraudo grew up on her family's farm where they produced biodynamic wine, the vines growing among ancient olive trees, and had their restaurant, Dattilo. The One MICHELIN Star restaurant remains a family affair, with Caterina at the helm of the kitchen, her brother working the winery, and her sister handling marketing." - Le Guide MICHELIN
"Caterina Ceraudo leads this One MICHELIN Star restaurant, which remains a family affair with a focus on biodynamic wine." - Le Guide MICHELIN
"Awarded both a macaron and a green star, Dattilo in Strongoli (Calabria) stands out for its organic farming and sustainable practices. The estate produces Grisara wine, olive oil, and various vegetables without chemicals. Chef Caterina Ceraudo, named best female chef of 2017 in Italy, offers dishes such as rigatoni, fennel, broad beans and prawns, and mackerel with sheep's yoghurt and fennel, all while focusing on zero waste and energy self-sufficiency with photovoltaic plants." - Matteo Morichini
