Went here for a work dinner and had the peach bellini and it was really good, perfect mix of alcohol and the peach puree, other places usually out too much alcohol and loose the peach flavor. Had the tortellini filled with spinach with the sage butter sauce, the sauce was great but the pasta I still needed to be done a little bit more. We tried all the desserts but their strawberry one was the best one, definitely ask that one!

The waiter was the nicest guy. What we ordered was so great. The scallops, mushrooms, and gnocchi appetizer was phenomenal. My filet was cooked to perfection, and my wifey's pasta was scrumptious. We felt like the most important diner's in the place. Candle lit table in the corner was romantic. We had been here years ago, on our last trip to D.C., and we are so glad we went again. Probably too much provided, and too posh of a place, for the Groupon price. Don't tell them.

Very enjoyable. Used a Groupon and it was a ton of very good food. We had the meatballs and caprese, tortelloni and filetto (upcharge but so worth it) and the tiramisu and cheesecake. It seemed many of the patrons were also using a Groupon. I’d recommend it

Great Food and lovely staff. Polpetti a day calamari. Filet mignion and risotto with squash and prawns. The desserts were delicious too. The cake with three cheeses a the semifreddo.

had an absolutely AMAZING meal at this restaurant. the pizza, pasta, wine, and tiramisu were all to die for. I couldn’t recommend eating here enough. 10/10.

We took our kids and it was awesome. The staff was absolutely the best. The food was nothing short of amazing!! Make sure you go on Thursday night, the chef there is amazing!

Seriously some of the best pasta I've ever had. My family has been going here since I was a kid and we have to come back every-time we're in DC. The staff is awesome, the appetizers are on point and I just love everything about this place. They always seem to be trying new things and changing up the menu over the years as well, but in a good way. Couldn't recommend it enough.

I was not impressed with the customer service and would not recommend this place. My chicken did not taste that great and my pasta was not cooked. It was very hard and rubbery and you could barley chew it. When I addressed it with the managers they were RUDE and nonchalant to the fact their food was not up to standard that night. They put it on me and said it must be me because their chicken parm is the best. Well it was not that night. It made my stomach hurt, and when I told the manager that, she had the nerve to say it was in my head and maybe I just felt the chicken wasn't good because my pasta wasn't cooked thoroughly. The fact she tried to put that on me was insane to me. I will never go to this place again and I love Italian food. But I would prefer a place that has great customer service. Plus the food here is only subpar at best. I only gave it a star because the atmosphere was decent, but to me when you have horrible customer service, you ruin the chance of a good rating.

Yelp
4.5! Really yummy, not perfect but hard to be upset with. Our server was great and made sure that we were happy and taken care of. They definitely left us there to chat until after hours (sorry!!) but we had an awesome time. Thank you!

Yelp
The food is incredible, and the staff (I believe our server was Jose) was so friendly, making the whole dining experience even better. The tiramisu was hands down the best I've ever had!

Yelp
I Ricchi is one of the greatest Italian restaurants in Christendom. Ambience, personnel, menu... it's all great. Bartender Eric is a national treasure! Jacquie, our server tonight, is and always has been terrific. We love the place! Sean and Sharon.

Yelp
Lemme just say they do great with boomers hard of hearing. my old ass Slovenia in-laws (80+) were visiting DC and made a reservation to come on a Wednesday. They unfortunately were busy but service was amazing. Our server, I wish I got her name did great with my in-laws. Portions were VERY generous - I didn't take any photos as most of the photos here shows everything appropriately. My in-laws didn't know what a cannoli was and family were disappointed. Would I come back? Sure! Curious to try the brunch lol. In a great location of DuPont.

Yelp
I do not know where to begin. The authenticity of the Tuscan cuisine is beyond reproach. Chris Ricchi has created a lasting experience for diners. We toured Italy through the menu and had one amazing dish after another. The food was amazing, the service was astounding, and the whole experience was exactly what we wanted. Exceptional quality with an exceptional dining experience. This is a MUST for DC!!!!!

Yelp
I Ricchi--4 out of 5 stars. The ambiance was beautiful and the service is A1. From the moment you walk in, everyone is every attentive. The staff is always checking to make sure you are satisfied and they do it with a smile. The food was decent also. I started with the calamari--very fresh pieces. I also had some kind of shrimp scampi. Our server told us it was specially made for Restaurant Week. The breadcrumbs were an unique addition to the plate, but overall it was decent, just needed a little more sauce. My friend had the Eggplant parm, which she enjoyed, but she mentioned she wished it was crispier eggplant! Overall, I would come back to try more items on their regular menu. Plus you can't beat excellent service--it will always having to coming back!

Yelp
Such a charming restaurant. We had a group of 13 women after the CHiPs global summit, and the service was impeccable. The food was delicious, and the owner came over to chat.

Yelp
I knew better, I knew better, I knew better. The reviews were great but they offered a Groupon so I went for it. We were the only table for over an hour on a Friday Night, not told about the $16 water, over seasoned calamari and raw flour on the Milanese. When questioned the manager was apathetic and said he didn't care about the terrible food or if I came back. Such a shame to see such an iconic restaurant fall to the wayside, but I won't be back nor can I recommend it to my friends or enemies.

Amir M.

Yelp
Outdated and in need of a renovation. Tight and uncomfortable seating space. Food is tasteless and oily. Service is attentive and good. Too expensive: bottled water $16. Small scope of gelato $17. Food is expensive for the quality. This restaurant was once good....

Yelp
My friend and I decided to check out this restaurant for dinner on a Saturday night. I arrived early and decided to have a drink at the bar while I waited for her. Eric was the bartender and was very personable. We exchanged small talk until my friend arrived and then decided to make our way over to the table. We purchased a Groupon deal which included dinner (an appetizer, an entree and a dessert) and 1 glass of wine per person. We opted for 6 different items so we can sample and share. Our server was Carlos and he was extremely helpful in explaining the different menu items. I was actually too full to finish my entree and dessert so I opted to bring them both home. Overall it was a good experience. I definitely plan to come back. My only confusion was when I was given a bill for $11 which appeared to be a fee for using the Groupon which I had already purchased and paid for in full. I will be following up with them in regards to this.

Yelp
Elegant romantic setting with excellent food! We went on a Thursday night and were surprised how empty it was. The prices seemed quite high at first, but everything we ate was flavorful, satisfying, and generously portioned. My SO thoroughly enjoyed his veal Milanese, I throughly enjoyed the night's pasta special, and we were also impressed with the Rigatoni Strascicate. Our server was genteel and skilled at not interrupting our date night heart-eyes toward each other too

Yelp
Came here for our anniversary and so glad we did! From the hostess to the bartender to our server, the service was fantastic. Very attentive and friendly. The ambiance was lovely, very calm and romantic. The food was unreal- we had the calamari to start (best calamari in DC by far), shared the rigatoni and chicken parm as our mains, and finished with a heavenly tiramisu. Special shout to Jackie, our server, for making tonight so lovely! She was so sweet and attentive and really enhanced a wonderful night. Counting down the days until we can return!

Michael R.

Yelp
I've eaten there maybe a dozen times and I'm never disappointed. The food is delicious, filling, and the staff is very attentive.

Yelp
Excellent fine-tuned service all the way. Wonderful presentation of Branzino with the head removed. Also, ordered the Risotto that came with an ample mixture of prosciutto, parm and herbs. Delish. Our water glasses were refilled quickly and often. They never sat for more than a minute. Just a delightful, romantic dinner. Special thank you to Jackelyn.

Yelp
IRicchi, without a doubt, is the most authentic Italian restaurant outside of Italy. Truly, when I dine here I feel like I'm in Tuscany, except without the long flight and jet lag. Attended the Annual Cena Bianca dinner on the piazza, which had not been held since Covid struck. 140 diners, all dressed in white, ushered in summer under twinkling lights and twinkling stars, long white tables, white flowers, everything white. We began with cocktails and passed hors d'oeuvres as the Tommy Ruggieri trio played and passersby looked over smiling at the spectacle just off a busy street in downtown Washington, D.C. The food was fabulous, all served family style among communal seating with new friends who all had something in common: love for authentic Italian cuisine, prepared by a chef owner who earned her stripes in Washington years ago and has commanded her own slice of Washington for 30 years. Christianne Ricchi has earned her loyal following, and it was on stage, front and center, Tuesday night. Pasta, shrimp, pork, chicken, and salads that screamed for second helpings, there was something for everyone, and finished off with a delightfully light summer's dessert of panna cotta with a fresh blackberry salsa. A veritable explosion on your palate, the taste buds awakened from the slumber of winter!

Yelp
last Saturday my wife and I attempted to have dinner at I Ricchi. we had met the chef and owner (she is a simply lovely individual) at a prior event and were looking forward to a nice and perhaps toasting the chef with an after dinner drink (a skinny martini). we arrived and upon entering the hostess looked from her station and without so much a greeting she turned her back (unfortunate greeting but so what). We told her we had a reservation and were were given a table in an area where we were the only two people seated and out of the flow of the wait staff (not a big deal but could have been better). Two indviduals approached our and asked "sparkling or still." I asked the first individual if she was our waitress. we introduced ourselves and then asked her name as she did not offer (perhaps she was shy but it was okay). Our waitress left and after about 15-20 minutes we flagged down another waitress and asked if she might ask our waitress to come back to our table. Upon her return she told us she was busy with a special order at another table and left to return to the special order. My wife and I decided we really were not enjoying ourselves and decided to leave. we asked for our waitress to return and asked if we could settle our bill for the sparkling water and she replied that she would speak with the manager about comping the bottle of water. she returned to our table and placed a bill for 17.90$ on the table - the cost for a bottle of sparkling water. We paid the bill and left. We actually had a lovely dinner at another restaurant (where a bottle of sparkling water was 8$). This is my first time posting on social media so please forgive this long diatribe. Having met the owner(who is a delightful individual) we were hoping to enjoy a lovely meal and sharing a drink with her. Alas such was not to be the case. The service was really disappointing as was the fact that the manager never thought to intervene and see if he/she could make a bad situation better. I would have thought that was what managers would in a situation such as this. I offer this as a history of our experience and nothing more Steven P

Yelp
The food is AMAZING! The quality & authenticity of the food as well as the ambiance can transport you to Tuscany! My husband is Italian and he says he "dreams of the food at I Ricchi" The entire staff especially the owner / chef are so attentive kind & lovely. Please - do not go expecting a simple fast meal. This is authentic Italian atmosphere- enjoy the ambience and especially the food!

Yelp
Food: surprisingly great! Service: weird We asked for food referrals for our salad and entrees, and were not guided wrong. The celery heart salad was memorable, and our pasta dish was pillow-soft. But the service was a bit too casual. We learned a bit too much about our server and his personal life. And perhaps the lives of others who worked there. I'm not one who discourages people when they need to talk, but some of the info was just inappropriate for sharing.

Yelp
We've been celebrating my husband's birthday at I Ricchi for over 25 years. His 50th birthday party was a fantastic private dinner event, in the back room, with 20 friends and family from all parts of the country. Our children know I Ricchi as the place we go to mark special events in our family, even though we could go to any one of the private clubs we belong to or other DC area restaurants. Last night was a true disappointment. We arrived promptly for our 7 pm reservation and were immediately sent to the bar to wait for our table to be prepared. We waited and waited while counting 20 empty tables in the front of the restaurant. After 40 minutes we decided to leave and go elsewhere. As we got up, a brusque attendant came over to us. I told her we had decided to leave. She shrugged her shoulders and said "no- your table is ready now" . No apology, no explanation . I was so upset over the shabby way we were treated that I couldn't enjoy the food that was produced in the kitchen. The food was as good as ever and our table staff were excellent but the rude treatment at the front of the house ruined our experience. We felt completely marginalized. What a shame. I Ricchi has lost its luster for us.

Yelp
Wonderful Italian ambiance and incredibly friendly staff. Could not have been more pleased with service this evening. Scallops with wild mushrooms and risotto were the best I ever had.

Yelp
Brought our son and his girlfriend here for his birthday, we tried many dishes and all were excellent. All of the waitstaff was excellent and very attentive and our server had a lot of spot-on suggestions of what to try. The octopus in the panzanella salad was well-cooked, and the calamari was light. All four of us got pasta dishes because we wanted the homemade pasta. We ordered the cheesecake, chocolate mousse and the semi Fredo which were all delicious but the semi Fredo and chocolate mousse were our favorites. Ambience is pleasant, not overly loud even when it got busy. Lovely place, wonderful dinner.

Yelp
The service and food were fantastic! Everyone we encountered was extremely friendly and our server was very knowledgeable and had great recommendations.

Yelp
Sucks arrogant Nobody in the restaurant when you come in with a 5 o'clock reservation and they send you to the bar to sit for 1520 minutes so you can order drinks to pay your bill not good I can't I come to eat I eat out every day 360 days a year and I don't like to be treated I heard it she will bar

Yelp
Wow-- all I can say is excellence! This restaurant was beautiful, had the best service I've ever had and absolutely delicious food. We went here for a celebration, and were met with the best service. We used a Groupon which was honored as well. The calamari was an appetizer-- very crunchy and delicious. Large portion size which was nice. We also had scallops which literally melted into your mouth. The main entrees we're amazing-- I got pasta (pictured below) and Ryan got fish. Both were excellent and we ate very bite! Dessert was outstanding-- I highly recommend the strawberry cake pictured below. The icing was delicious and it had crunchy bites in the filling. We still talk about it a few weeks later! The staff was very kind and paid close attention to detail. We will be back and highly recommend!

Yelp
This outstanding restaurant has been a family-favorite for a long time. The food is consistently fresh and well-prepared. Nothing bad on the menu. Our waiter and the entire staff were friendly and professional. The atmosphere is nice too. There is room between tables, and it has an old-Italian charm. It's good for birthdays and other celebrations too. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
My wingman and I went with a Groupon in hand and I was very skeptical cause of the 3 stars here on Yelp. The atmosphere was what I enjoyed most & I am here to say right now that i miss Italy in this very moment... I haven't seen it in about 10 years now. Upon arrival we were seated and the waiter was kind and helpful. Everything was great aside from the pasta shape which threw me off visually so I ate as much of it as I could. Everything was seasoned well my eyes just couldn't get past the shape and mouth feel of the pasta ‍. Overall, I would love to go back as it was a wonderful dinner & maybe try something different on the menu. The Tiramisu and Strawberry Tarte are absolute must haves so save room!!!! Thanks I Ricchi for a wonderful experience!!!

Yelp
I had a reservation at 7:15 pm with my friend today (5/15/2021) and while the food was good, this has been my worst experience in DC yet. Our server came over for the first time and just said "Are you ready to order? Because we're really busy so either you're ready to order or I come back later." Really rude for no reason. We wanted to ask questions and he didn't even greet us or anything. The food was reallt food though. Will never done be back.

Yelp
Delicious food, refined atmosphere. Fresh, expertly prepared food, plated w with pride and appeal. Wonderful 12-hr Tuscan sauce dish, fungi appetizer, blood orange sorbet. A D.C. stalwart. Lovely waitstaff, no one missing a mark. About $100 per person w a glass of wine or two.

Yelp
I went here for an anniversary dinner using their Groupon and it was really special. Our waiter made us feel really important and took the time to explain everything to us as well as give recommendations for his favorite dishes. The Groupon is a great deal and I think the dishes tasted good, but wouldn't necessarily go back for their dishes and the regular prices. We each got a glass of wine, appetizer, entree, and dessert. We got the scallops and calamari to start, and then steak and lamb as entrees. I am not a fan of lamb, so had to switch with my boyfriend, but the sides were really good and everything was cooked really well and as ordered. My favorite part was the dessert! I got the Torta di Formaggio and my boyfriend got the Semifreddo alle Fragole. Actually, now writing this, I lied. I could absolutely go back and pay for these desserts and a glass of wine because they were SO YUM. The Torta was fluffy, and cheesecakey, and not too sweet. The Semifreddo was basically a fancy ice cream cake so you can't go wrong with that.

Yelp
Excellent, outstanding service. My best friend who I was visiting DC with, loved each and every course. We split the Prosciutto platter and the crispy calamari. The house made marinara it came with was delish. We both had the Branzino special. The wines (Some Chianti for me & Pinot Grigio for her) were also amazing. Our desserts, the tiramisu and the lemon gelato sorbet were to die for. Our server and the entire FOH (Front of the House) staff were outstanding. The service was seamless. Thank you for such an amazing experience. We will be back!

Yelp
I've read a lot of reviews on this place and I feel it's far better than the couple of ratings that drag the overall rating. The food and atmosphere are very good. It appears they serve their pasta Al Dente which is normal is some Italian restaurants , it might be undercooked to your taste but it not undercooked. I liked that we had a leisurely dinner , never felt rushed. We got there early and we're promptly seated. Our waiter was great, informative and attentive.

Eric L.

Yelp
First time visit. Reservation was for 7 pm on a Saturday. Restaurant was about 1/4 full. The ambiance was perfect. My wife has some food allergies and our server recommended dishes to her knowing this information and advised which dishes to stay away from. He was extremely knowledgeable and provider us plenty of space and time during our dining experience. The food was outstanding!! I highly recommend this establishment as we will return very soon!!

JEFFREY K.

Yelp
Three Star Rating is OUTRAGEOUS AND RIDICULOUS!! I am a foodie. I've eaten In wonderful restaurants throughout Tuscany and I Ricchi is an exceptional restaurant. First the ambiance of lovely floral wall murals coupled with knowledgeable servers and committed chef ownership makes this a real dining experience. I assure you this a restaurant that you MUST try.

Steven M R.

Yelp
Much, much too pricey for the small quanity of food you receive. I have had as good or better meals for the same or less high prices in our city. Little value here for your $$. Most (not all) the food, however, was very tasty, but two of our party of four were left hungry after appetizers, salads, and main courses, so we were forced to buy over-priced desserts (something we never do) just to fill-up. Not good. Their signature dish -- Tuscan potato and bread soup -- no longer is on the menu. Too bad. Ambiance and service were excellent. Not recommended. You can do better within a short walk of the restaurant.

Yelp
I saw I ricchi from a vlogger in youtube, we tried during our wedding anniversary. It was pleasant, food is Ok nothing much special. My squid ink pasta was chewy and its not al dente at all. Service was fine but awkward, while we're sitting most of the bussers are behind our table like staring at us and server was fine, very long details and explanation about the menu that we couldn't even know what to order and forgot everything what she said. Ambiance was fine and decent, clean.

Dandy L.

Yelp
Extremely rude manager. Food took over 2 hours to come out and pasta was extremely undercooked. I couldn't even chew the pasta because my jaw hurt so much trying. Never going back again considering the extremely high price tag and $17 for sparkling water.
google avatar

Yelp
Overall it was a disappointing experience, for several reasons. The food itself is average to good depending on the dish (octopus salad was good, the one with Mozarella ok, and the cod and milanese are ok to good), though if you're looking for an authentic Italian restaurant this is not it. We had a Groupon that specified everything was included, no mention of any extra charges, and the menu there actually had extra charges for several items. When we talked to the waiter about it, he said that per the owner they can add additional 8$ charges even if not included in the Groupon itself, which was very disappointing. Also, the bill had a DC Groupon sales tax that I never heard of, and we used other coupons in DC, we felt like they were trying to nickel and dime us. We did like the setting and the service was prompt and friendly, but it doesn't justify the food quality and the issues they gave us with the Groupon.

Yelp
The atmosphere of the restaurant was absolutely stunning. The service was so attentive and everything the people in our party ordered was just beautifully presented and delicious. This is an absolute must stop for me every time I'm in DC from now on.

Yelp
If you like unseasoned meats and little to no sugar in your desserts, this is your place. Our waitress was a little pushy, rude and detailed. She took her job very seriously. I guess that's a plus if you're into lectures or drawn out menu details or tip instructions. Pros- service is very attentive. Cons- bland and boring...I ordered the mix grill, scallops and lamb. It taste like one grilled smoky slab of meat. No sauce or extra flavor. I boxed most of it. Sigh.

Yelp
The service and food at Ristorante i Ricchi is consistently excellent! The servers are always professional and knowledgeable. The food is amazing! Christianne and staff create delicious menu's, paired perfectly with delicious wine! This is one of my favorite restaurants!

Yelp
As a visiting vegan to DC, I stopped by after reading an interesting article about how they bake their breads. The bread is so unique. It's baked in an oak-burning oven in the back of the restaurant. If your into forcasia there are two kinds to choose from. The original style and another topped with cheese and tomatoes. Both breads have a wonderful combination of sea salt and a soft interior. It blends well with olive oil. The olive oil is top notch. The only improvement I could suggest would be to have some more variety in terms of food choices for us plant-based people. Unfortunately the majority of their menu items are animal product or meat-based. But even so, Michael our waiter was trying to accommodate me and recommended the soup and salad. Our appetizers were fried calamari, side of meat balls and a scallop/gnocchi/mushroom dish. My guests stated that the calamari and scallop dishes were above average. With regards to the meatballs, my friend said that they were as good as his mom used to make. What he liked best, was how the meatballs are coated with mozzarella on top. For dinner, All of my 4 guests ordered the Branzino Mediterraneo. A white fish that was pan-roasted, with fagiolini, confit tomato and a chive oil. The serving sizes were huge, enough to spilt. My guests said the fish tasted amazing and cook to perfection. I ordered a the vegetable soup and for dinner a salad with a side of white beans. Both were very tasty. When visiting DC, I recommend Ristorante I Ricchi, it's vegan friendly. The food and the staff at this restaurant is top notch. I like that this place is not too loud, making it possible to talk. It lives up to its reputation as one of the best restaurants in the DC area.

Yelp
A friend and I came here and it might have been one of my worst restaurant experiences. We were asked if we would like to be seated outdoors to which we answered yes to because of COVID and outdoors felt safer. They seated us on top of a sewage grate and occasionally throughout the meal there would be a gust of sewage smell that would ruminate in the air for a little bit and then disappear, the smell was atrocious. The service was terrible. To begin the night, the waiter asked us if we wanted to order anything off the wine menu and my friend said yes and ordered. The waiter said he would be right out with the drink and it took about 30 minutes for him to bring the drink out and ask us what we would like to eat. Once we decided upon our meals, it took about 45 minutes for the food to arrive to the table. The restaurant was not busy at all from the look of it and we had heard before that the service was slow, but we didn't expect it to be this slow. The food itself was pretty good, we both ordered off the pasta section of the menu and it was definitely good. However, it did not justify the 45 minute wait we had to endure to eat it. Overall the experience was not the best and we will not be eating here anytime soon.

Yelp
We visited Ristorate I Ricchi on a Saturday night with the Groupon deal. I was a bit apprehensive about what we would get with the deal, but I was blown away by the meal and value we received. We arrived around 7:00 pm and the restaurant was very full. I thought that we were probably one of the only parties using a Groupon because the restaurant seems to have a steady regular customer base. In fact, we were seated at the bar and at 7:30 there were several people drinking at the bar waiting for a table. Our server Anthony was very friendly and polite. He explained what we would receive with the deal and also pointed out several of his favorite menu items. Part of the deal includes two glasses of sparkling wine and two glasses of red or white wine with your entree. We opted for the red which was a Barberra from the Piedmont region. We started off with the salmon Carpaccio and the caprese salad. The salmon was excellent. Thin slices of flavorful cured salmon with a light crème freche and peppered with diced tomatoes. It was a large serving and I thought probably enough for two people to share. The caprese was very good as well. The mozzarella cheese was superb...creamy with a bold flavor. It reminded me of the fabulous caprese salads I would have nightly at cafes in Rome and Florence. Anthony said the cheese was imported from Italy. For my entree I went with the Papardelle with rabbit ragu. It was superb. The noodles were long, moderately dense, with a slightly chewy texture. In my opinion they were perfect and were most definitely homemade. The ragu sauce was actually not too intense and did a surprisingly good job highlighting the rabbit. Rabbit is a mild flavored meat and the chef adeptly crafted a sauce that was light enough to compliment the rabbit. Well done. For desert we ordered the dipped cookies with wine and the chocolate mousse cake. I didn't care for the desserts too much, and should have went with the tiramisu, but I was already full from such large first and second course servings that dessert was simply an afterthought to me. Overall we had a fantastic meal at I Ricchi. I do agree with the other posters that it's expensive, but for the location and the fact that you are getting handmade pasta dishes for $20-25. I don't think it's completely unreasonable. I would definitely go back, and I'm thinking bringing the parents along would be a great idea.

Everything was top notch. I had lunch here last week with a birthday friend. I had a Caprese, some of my friend's Penne with Tuscan Ragu, Pesce di Giorno (Branzino) and liked them all. Caprese's tomatoes were ripe, mozzarella fresh, and the basil was fragrant. Penne was cooked al dente and the ragu was very tasty. The fish of the day was delicious and plenty. The service was impeccable from the beginning to the end.
