IRicchi, without a doubt, is the most authentic Italian restaurant outside of Italy. Truly, when I dine here I feel like I'm in Tuscany, except without the long flight and jet lag.
Attended the Annual Cena Bianca dinner on the piazza, which had not been held since Covid struck. 140 diners, all dressed in white, ushered in summer under twinkling lights and twinkling stars, long white tables, white flowers, everything white.
We began with cocktails and passed hors d'oeuvres as the Tommy Ruggieri trio played and passersby looked over smiling at the spectacle just off a busy street in downtown Washington, D.C.
The food was fabulous, all served family style among communal seating with new friends who all had something in common: love for authentic Italian cuisine, prepared by a chef owner who earned her stripes in Washington years ago and has commanded her own slice of Washington for 30 years. Christianne Ricchi has earned her loyal following, and it was on stage, front and center, Tuesday night.
Pasta, shrimp, pork, chicken, and salads that screamed for second helpings, there was something for everyone, and finished off with a delightfully light summer's dessert of panna cotta with a fresh blackberry salsa. A veritable explosion on your palate, the taste buds awakened from the slumber of winter!
