"The Rival Bros location on Spruce looks like an apartment you might inherit if you were one of Logan Roy’s heirs from Succession. It’s gorgeous, with high ceilings supported on pillars, painted-black walls, and dark leather booths you’ll want to remember when you finally design your Rittenhouse Square penthouse. The coffee is also some of the best in the city, and while the food menu is small, there are always pastries behind the counter from local bakeries." - Sydney McElwee

I’m not a snobby coffee person, this place is a tish snobby, but the coffee was excellent. Maybe I’ll be a snobby coffee convert! I appreciated that they were open early. I gave them 4/5 because they only had vanilla as a syrup flavor.

Spectacular coffee bar in philly. Offer a variety of espresso drinks plus daily rotating pourovers. Pastries available from Machine Shop Boulangerie. Gorgeous space with tons of natural light flowing in. Plenty of space to get work done with high tops, sofsrs, and chairs available. Stop in if you're close by.

Such a cute coffee shop. I love the vibe, the aesthetic, and the masculine theme. Not to mention that the espresso roast is fantastic! I will definitely be returning.

I happened upon this place. The baked goods were excellent. I got some regular coffee which was fine, nothing spectacular. I will try something else next time to give them a full fair shake. I loved the decor and feel of the place.

Long time fam of Rival Bros, they have a lot of nice locations around the city and are one of the best local coffee chains we have in Philadelphia. Their Spruce st location is super beautiful too, definitely the kind of place to hangout in the morning while catching up on emails, or a great date spot. I had a little bit of everything last time I was there. Expresso and coffee are always on point, and their bread of the day (Maybe of the week) was more than I was expecting, it was awesome! It helped bring me right back to life after a late night out, and ready to work. Will definitely continue to visit here weekly when on showings in the area!

An old-style old world coffee shop with charm and beauty. And if you have the cappuccinos, they will be beautiful, like a photograph for a magazine. The pastries are made by a well-known Baker in Philadelphia. You can't go wrong with this place!

This is the $3.5 croissant, literally half the size. Rip off. If they do this with croissants, now I am thinking what are they doing to coffee.

Very good coffee. I got a pour-over of an Ethiopian brew. The barista crafted it well and made a delicious cup. The music over the loud speakers is fantastic, but only if you dig garage rock. The ambiance is alright, a little dark for my taste (it made reading a bit more difficult), but all in all wasn’t too bad. Great place, definitely would come back.
