the cafe is cute and cozy! on sundays, during rush times (11:45ish to mid noon), it could get a little crowded and noisy. noise cancelling headphones are best to concentrate if need be for study/work. there is enough seating, if you get there early enough. they do their best to restock the treats as often as they can and keep things tidy! had a delicious pumpkin spice latte and almond croissant!! the barista and cashier were super sweet and the service was quick. i did notice you are able to have dine in plates for pastries, but i wasn’t asked, so next time i’d like to opt for that. unfortunately, the wifi was a bit iffy for me, but i might need to do another visit and see how to get better connection. would go there again to try the matcha or grab another latte!!

This corner cafe is literally amazing!! Went in randomly just for a latte and after perusing the menu also decided to get the daily bread which came with a little tiny jar of jam! It was all delicious!! I might become a regular with how quality everything was!! Really recommend if you’re in the area!

Such a lovely neighborhood gem! I have come here with my family for several years. The coffee is great, the baristas are friendly, and the atmosphere is always cozy. They have excellent muffins and fun seasonal coffee drinks. Would highly recommend if you’re in the neighborhood! Of note, inside seating is limited and there is just street parking. It can get very busy on weekend mornings.

First time visiting this location. I am glad we went very early in the morning. By the time I left, lines were getting longer. They still had very good tasting coffee. I used to drink their coffee near Drexel in 2011 or 2012. So glad I got to visit.

Rival Bros never disappoints. The coffee is bold, rich, and perfectly crafted every time. You can tell they put real care into sourcing and roasting their beans. The atmosphere is cozy but energetic—perfect for a quick caffeine fix or sitting down to get some work done. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to recommend something new. friend and i visited here on a sunday early afternoon. it was a bit chilly but we sat outside in this lovely residential neighbourhood. staff were all very friendly and welcoming. i ordered a latte w whole milk and it was delicious and the taste of coffee was just right! rival bros know what they are doing. there are only 5 tables in the cafe, its a pretty small store in general. but more tables outside. will visit again for a coffee fix🤞

This is a great little corner spot in a mostly residential neighborhood. Had the blueberry tart (from recommendation of the barista) along with a free cup of the Champion Blend (with my purchase of beans). Greet vibes and coffee. Highly recommend.

Moving in kiddo from Boston. First night in the new place, we were warned of the deliciousness of the Freezo and that we would definitely be going first thing in the morning!! Once we all got our bums out and going, we walked the whole 250 feet over to check it out. First, walking up looked precious and a perfect neighborhood coffee shop with outdoor seating. Second, walked in to a super warm and inviting atmosphere and third, once I got to the counter the adorable person checking me out was so kind and engaging!! We got our Freezos and went outside to enjoy. This Summer morning was slightly breezy and a perfect temp to enjoy at one of the tables outside. The first sip, you could tell this was not your basic frappe…but something far better! Even when the icy kind of melted, it was still sooooo good, like a perfect coffee even if it got warm! All I can say is this will be a dangerous thing as it will likely be a regular event for my kiddo daily and of course each time I come to visit!!

Th philly coffee scene reminds me of the Austin coffee scene in some ways- very well roasted beans with unique flavors that pair well into a well executed drink. My husband and I came in for an afternoon pick me up. I ordered their strawberry rose latte (all their syrups are made in house). The bartender seemed very experienced and recommended an oat milk pairing with the drink. At first, I honestly rolled my eyes inside because I normally hate when oat milk overpowers a roasted bean flavor to create a more "creamy latte", but I gave it a try anyways. Let's just say, I'm really happy I listened. All the flavors of the drink enhanced one another- the bean, strawberry, rose, and even the oat. It was absolutely delicious and had great mouth feel. I loved it. The drink was also very pretty. The interior was a bit small, but there are enough tables for people the camp out and do work. Overall, highly recommend!!

An easily accessible cafe on E Passyunk right on the corner! I think the exterior looks way prettier than the real interior. The seating area is lackluster, a few wooden tables scattered around the back. There were a few people with their laptops when I went (not sure if there was an outlet but I think there was one by the couch). For decor, there's a Christmas tree by the couch at least! The service was alright, nothing outstanding. I got a maple tahini latte, and to my dismay, it tasted like a regular coffee. It's supposed to have pure maple syrup, vanilla, tahini, maldon salt, and spiced sugar garnish. Maybe if you like subtler flavors, this might be up your alley. I couldn't taste any of the winter or holiday flavors. This is probably why they didn't list their holiday drinks out. At least they made it with some latte art! I also got a cinnamon roll and ham and cheese croissant. The cinnamon roll was nothing out of the ordinary, but I wish it were soft and warm. The ham and cheese croissant was interesting because the ham is cooked into the croissant dough with cheese on top.

It's always just great. It's always one of my favorites. Great staff. Great vibes. This spot might be a little hard to do work but always a solid place.

Found this Nice little coffee spot just a few steps away from the Airbnb I was staying in. Owned by 2 Friends and Philly natives, they roast their own beans and craft some great coffee. Cappuccino was very good but the roasted drip was even better. A choice of two blends, I chose the revolver blend- smooth cocoa with warm spices. It was a nice way to start the day. Staff is super nice and friendly. Just an overall great neighborhood spot!

This is a cute little coffee shop attached to an apartment building. Definitely a cute place to study or grab a drink on the go! Used to give Jefferson employee discount but last time I visited, they said that they're stopping that soon...most likely won't go back but it was across the street from the hospital if you need someone super super quick

I am a coffee enthusiast so I love visiting coffee shops around the area. This coffee shop was lovely. I was in the area for an errand and came to this location. I was going to get a coffee but decided on an iced lychee jasmine tea with lime. I actually really really liked this tea! It was a unique drink and was so refreshing. I would honestly go back just for that. If my tea was good, the coffee must be even better. As far as the inside of the shop goes, healthy amount of seating for yourself or small groups to chill! Come do your work here for hang out.

Fantastic corner coffee shop with delicious beans which forced my hand to buy a bag! Great iced coffee and ample space to get some work done or catch up with a friend.

Nice cafe with good seating both inside & outside and lots of outlets for plugging in your laptop when working. The iced matcha latte was good and not too sweet would say 4/5. The croissant was just ok , wouldn't get again, it was a bit hard, but it might have been the time of day since I went in the afternoon. The service was quick and the staff were nice.

Absolutely love Rival Bros as does the rest of Philly because it's always packed! Fabulous coffee and matcha. Lattes are smooth and silky while retaining the distinct coffee taste. If you can snag a table, it's great for a coffee date or working. Fast and kind service despite how crowded it is.

Beautiful aroma wafting throughout this neighborhood can only mean one thing...Rival Bros are at it again. You know this is going to be something special when you can smell this beautiful aroma dancing in the air from a block away. Just let it carry you inside where you will feel a sudden surge of excitement come upon you. You might also have  an impatient pulse wondering when is it your turn to order, when is it your turn to indulge into that perfect cup. Those are the questions that will be running through your head , or maybe you are in need of some much needed caffeine? Maybe less caffeine in how you would approach it, if you are that anxious. There are plenty of coffee shops in Philly, but this has to be the most unique one out of the bunch. Don't get me wrong there are some great shops out there also serving up works of art like Rival Bros. The coffee roasting gods have granted us with a gift, so don't question it, or how is it possible that this is that damn good. Accept it ladies and gents, accept this marvelous gift bestowed to us.

This coffee shop is pretty popping. I love how they have an outdoor sitting area. I wish there were more seats inside the coffee shop. The service was pretty quick which was really nice. The coffee there was average. I felt like the coffee was pretty bitter which I am not a big fan of. Overall I would rate this a 3 out of 5

Not bad, but admittedly a bit disappointing after having to wait in line and all the review hype. They seemed unable to determine if they made me a latte or a cappuccino and I couldn't quite tell if they just were trying to say whatever would make me feel happy or what. More importantly, the coffee doesn't seem to have much flavor profile which I would expect from a fancy pants coffee shop, and there's slight sourness, probably from the dairy, which I admittedly don't usually opt for. Became oddly bitter as it cooled. Cute space, lovely customers, and great staff though.

I live in West Philly, but whenever I can I will walk to Rival Bros for my decaf latte with almond milk. Whether iced or hot Rival knows how to make this drink right. I always complain how I cannot find a good cup of latte across the river in the West Philly side. Don't misunderstand me, there are enough cafes, but somehow a lot of the coffee based drinks are either too strong or too weak. Rival Bros seem to get the flavour just right. The service has been good and steady during this pandemic, and the place is always clean. It gets A+ on my cafe list!

Solid Cappuccino in Philly. Nice vibe but packed when I've been there so not a good place to try and meet and sit together for a coffee.

After a string of disappointing coffee shop experiences, Rival Bros is a welcome exception. They do espresso drinks correctly. A cappuccino here is how it should be, not the Starbucks-sized latte pretending to be a cappuccino. Quality beans that are well roasted and properly extracted. Good milk texture. And I appreciate that they ask if you'd like your drink to stay or to go, instead of assuming you want it in a throwaway cup. Despite its distance from where I usually hang, it's worth the longer walk.

Without a doubt some of my favorite coffee in Philadelphia!!! I think that if hlu enjoy coffee with some thought behind it this is your spot!!

First, without any qualification, I LOVE the coffee here. My husband and I are here nearly every Saturday morning for his cappuccino, my morning drip and our bag of beans for the week. This morning, we indulged in a ham and cheese croissant and peanut butter toast w/ fresh figs.... AMAZING!! .... and with our morning indulgence, came a side of unpleasantness, possibly motivated by unconscious bias. Long story short... the $15 bag of beans comes with a free drink, and this morning, we purchased the beans along with my husband's cappuccino, our croissant and toast and my free drip coffee. Apparently, the free drink is a medium, not the large that I ordered (a difference of 4oz). So, after some discussion, the woman at the counter upcharged $1 for the larger drink... except a large is only fifty cents more than a medium. Then she handed me the bag of beans, croissant and drip coffee to juggle in my arms with the peanut butter toast and cappuccino. The woman before me ordered a lone pastry and a drink and was offered a bag with the friendliest of smiles. The woman behind the counter and the customer in front of me were white. I, on the other hand, am not. Coincidence? Quite possibly. Or perhaps unconscious bias. At no point did the situation become hostile, but it was certainly unpleasant. At the end, a woman (whom I assume is the manager) stressed that the free drink is a "bag drink" (i.e., tea) or medium coffee but she would refund the $1 upcharge for the large drip. The point is not the dollar. I can afford the dollar. The point is the unnecessary unpleasantness and clear inconsistency in treatment of customers. I grew up in the restaurant and service industry... there's a saying, "give them the pickle." Google it. It's a good story and lesson for life... also a case study for most b-school students focused on the hospitality industry.

This one is a cozy spot in a cozy part of Philly. Sitting outside, you can people watch the quiet strolls people are taking or even peep into the barber shop across the street. I love the 'daily bread' at Rival Bros - this time it was potato bread that was soft and fluffy but delicious all the same with salt, butter, and jam. Sometimes it's a heftier, crusty bread too. I also tried a different toast on a grainy bread with ricotta and honey. The simple things in life are really the most satisfying!

Visiting Philly. This cute coffee shop popped up near my Airbnb. Wonderful cappuccino, I even went back for a second one. Service&Staff 10/10 Coffee 10/10 Outdoor seating, Wi-Fi, and also small bites available!

Actually more of a 4.5 rating. A solid cafe in a quaint neighborhood. I loved the location of the cafe, the interior design, and vibes. Very much rustic cafe vibes, good area to do work in, although there can be a lot of traffic (many cute families with cute babies and cute doggos - very good for people and dog watching), we were there early morning too (7:30-9am). We got the oat milk latte, oat milk mocha, and oat milk derringer (not pictured). I thought the former two were really smooth and gives the caffeine kick I needed. It was solid but nothing special. The food likewise.

Cute little coffee shop in a cute neighborhood! I was visiting from Boston, and this is my sister's favorite coffee spot. I'm convinced that a small menu = high quality. Really loved my iced almond milk latte, and enjoyed the sips I took from the my siblings' drinks. It was a 90+ degree day after walking around all morning, so I will also fondly remember this place for saving my life when I was exhausted in the afternoon when we stopped by.

The coffee here is amazing! I got a black cold brew and drinking it black definitely let's you appreciate the flavors of the coffee.

Three words: ICED ALMOND LATTE I tried rival bros coffee on a warm Friday morning in Philly and boy was I impressed. I was stuck between their cold brews and lattes but I decided on the latte. I love how smooth their espresso is and the almond milk was very creamy. As someone who normally gets oat milk because of the consistency, I was happy that their almond milk didn't lack. I'd definitely give this latte a 10/10! You order inside but have to sit outside. Which is perfect because they have quite a few seats and tables. I'd definitely come back to try their cold brew as well as their pastries because they looked so good!

We came here yesterday morning for pastries and coffees before meeting some friends. It's a cute neighborhood spot, though pretty cramped inside with a kind of Typical Soulless Hipster Decor. Service was friendly. We ordered two cold brews, a hot chocolate, and some baked goods. Coffees were fine/nothing special, as was the food. The dark chocolate brownie was crumbly but had a nice flavor; the cinnamon bun was actually more of a cinnamon croissant that would have been better had it been fresh; the almond croissant had an incredible filling and also would have been more impressive had it been fresh. This one -or two-day old pastry complaint has been happening to us a lot recently, so maybe this is just the new normal, but we really hope it isn't. So, overall, nothing too bad or too good to say. Just your average joint that you can stop at and then promptly forget about. 3.5 stars, rounding down.

lavender rose latte with oatmilk was absolutely splendid. the latte was even topped with petal flakes to add to the aesthetic. the beignet was heavenly with a very mild filling. good work environment but pretty limited seating.

Another great coffee shop in the area! I was able to order my drink and get it quickly! I even purchased some beans and they were able to grind them for me. It looks like a great place to hang out *fingers crossed* *one day* make sure to check this place out :)

Situated in the quaint neighborhood of Fitler Square, Rival Bros Coffee is a cozy coffee shop that's great to catch up with friends or read a book. I would not recommend for studying though. I ordered their Americano and found it quite smooth. My friend on the other hand ordered a hot latte and kept on emphasizing how it was one of the best lattes she's had in a while. The ambience inside is great too -- the couches are super comfy and just the right amount of dimness in a cafe that doesn't make you super sleepy.

By far the best iced latte I've come across in the city. Can't believe it took me almost four years of living here to try this place out!

This is one of my top 5 coffee places in Philadelphia. Since we are in a pandemic, we've always gotten our coffee to go. The coffee is delicious and they have not burned the milk once. Portions are well-appointed (not too big and not European-small. They also carry the most delicious chocolate croissants. My one note is that the people in the area aren't always accommodating or friendly, especially with parking being what it is, but the staff awesome is so it works out in the end.

Friendly, small spot for a great cappuccino, but can be tough to grab seating if you want to do work. Atmosphere: 6 tables in total: pretty small space, with a few tables of outdoor seating. Free wifi and bathrooms inside the shop - very clean interior, and chill vibe! Servers are very friendly. Food: Not many pastry offerings (croissants, baguettes, but the PB & fig toast for $6 was a very popular option! Drinks: Cappuccino was delicious - very rich, and the foam and the coffee tasted like they were in the same layer, but I thought the mocha tasted too much like chocolate milk - lost its espresso taste. Overall: 4 / 5; Would come back for traditional drinks, but perhaps not the mocha. Wish there were more space inside too to come in and get some work done!

When it comes to consistency, something which is hard to come by in coffee shops across the city, Rival has it down. Best spot that's not too quiet to meet friends or too loud to work out of, it's always on point. I'm constantly telling people to check it out

Really quaint cafe that has local neighborhood vibes even though they have multiple locations in the city. The huge pluses for me here are the outdoor seating, the everything croissant, AND THE FACT THEY SELL WECKERLYS ICE CREAM SANDWICHES AH (just get one for $4. You'll thank me later) You can order a chai latte even though it's not technically on the menu - first time I ordered it was a little watery but the second time it was much better. I think it just depends who is behind the bar, but everyone is really friendly and the place is quite dog friendly !

Not many coffee shops rival this one. A cute little corner coffee shop with friendly staff and a great atmosphere. I got a classic oat milk latte and it was quite good (standard price for a latte). Overall, I'd take the bros to get coffee here again!

(4.5 stars) I'm a huge fan of this coffee shop. Drip coffee to stay is only $2, there are refills for $1, the service is always friendly, and the daily bread is wonderful. Like seriously, the daily bread is better than almost any pastry you'll get somewhere else: lightly buttered and sprinkled with sea salt it's so tasty yet surprisingly filling too and only $4!! Oh also the drip coffee is great of course. The only thing this shop doesn't have going for it really is that there isn't much space to hang out and work or grab a table with a friend. There's a handful of tables inside and a few outside but other than that, it's a mostly grab-and-go setup. That shouldn't deter you though from dropping by at all!

I can't actually comment on the coffee since we're not coffee drinkers, but I can say that the pastries we bought here were excellent. My husband got a plain croissant, and I got some kind of cheesy flaky pastry with mustard that I couldn't get enough of. They had a number of loaf cakes, muffins, and other pastries on offer too that also looked great, although everything was on the pricey side. I see on further research that they source their baked goods from an outside bakery, which would explain the prices, but regardless of whether or not they're baked in-house, I would gladly buy one every day. We were only in town for the weekend (our Airbnb was a block away), but I imagine this would be our go-to cafe if we lived in the area. It's got a vibe that's both cool hipster and neighborhood-friendly.

Rival Brothers is a really nice little shop on 24th and Lombard. We stopped in on Black Friday late in the day. The shop is smaller but has a decent amount of seating. For me, Rival Brothers may even be better then La Colombe. I personally like the Whistle & Cuss. They had a nice selection of desserts also, but they were a bit pricey. Nice place and I will definitely be back.

Wowza! Their caffeinated options are incredibly on point. Just my style. Drip, hand pour, Chemex pour overs, cold brew, as well as Nitro Cold Brew. All using their own single origin carefully sourced beans roasted locally in Frankford and named with much personality. Oh so heavenly! I have no idea what took me so long to stop by, but I will surely be visiting regularly now. I absolutely fell in love! L. O. V. E. Supporting local and small is the icing on the cake for me here. On my first visit I opted for a Chemex pour over of El Salvador. It was said to have notes of peanut butter, fig and lemon. It was very dark yet incredibly smooth and my glass which I asked for over ice was created with care. The original taste was perfection just as it was for this black coffee drinker! So delish! I then had the Costa Rica Chemex pour over iced. Also delish with hints of lemon meringue, cedar and macadamia nut. I think I prefer the El Salvador and that's what I will be buying beans of to keep in the house for my new Chemex! I also ordered the fig toast and let me tell you, I have been dreaming about it every single day since I left!!! OMG! OMG! OMG! It was a two big hunks of fresh baked bread from High Street on Market toasted to perfection allowing you to pick it up while it properly held the toppings but still remained soft and chewy in the middle. It was drizzled with melty, ooey gooey peanut butter and topped with sliced figs. It has a bit of sea salt making it the perfect sweet and salty treat. My husband asked if he could video me eating it because he said I was making love to it. The pb was dripping down my fingers. It was kind of a sensual experience lol. It was phenomenal and my new splurge item! TRY IT! A big enough portion to share or half to take home so maybe order it in a to go box if you're flying solo on this treat. *You can purchased the amazing bread by slice or by loaf!! I can't help but mention every carefully thought-out design detail. They were pure perfection in my opinion. Dark and moody yet somehow clean and welcoming. A bit of vintage touches, but still a fresh, youthful look to the space. I even noted the small details such as the honeycomb tiles in the restroom that mimicked the honeycomb pattern in the chic wall paper. I'm a total sucker for impeccable attention to details and appreciate perfect balance in all things, especially interiors and this place has it going on! They sell bags of their unique blends of coffee which make a great gift for the coffee lover in your life, French macarons, biscotti, coffee gadgets such as the Chemex and grinders (which I'm obsessed with), loose teas, and some hip Rival Bros swag. Seating inside is somewhat limited and there are many set up working who will probably not be moving anytime soon. Luckily for us the tables outside where we wanted to sit on a gorgeous morn' anyway were open on a weekday. I can imagine the weekends are fairly packed here and on rainy or colder days seating is an issue. Grab and go is probably the way to go on those days. *Street parking was a cinch and there are two 30 minute loading zone spots right out front for a quick stop.

Took my wife on a coffee date here, it was fantastic. We got a couple cups of pourover, the toast of the day, and the everything croissant with goat cheese. Sat outside and enjoyed the view on the street, it was quite lovely. The thing I loved most? Every bag of beans you buy comes with a free drink, and since we had already had our drinks, we were able to bring the receipt back the next time.

I prefer this location to the one on Spruce, mainly because of the music and staff, both of which are more to my liking here. It is a much smaller space but nicely laid out, with a few tables outside and a row inside. I've always been able to find a place to sit. I would say the majority of the business is locals who take their coffee to go, and it has that comfortable vibe of a neighborhood coffee shop where the staff joke with each other and know the people who stop in. Rival Bros in general is one of my approved places to get a cappuccino. Their food is excellent as well, though it's mostly pastries and a few "toasts" and the lunch selection is limited to a Cuban sandwich. Also recommended as a treat: the decadent ice-cream-topped affogato. They have Weckerley's ice cream sandwiches, too, come to think of it. This location is weirdly well equipped with ice cream.
