Place looks great Location is perfect , our waiter was great The food.... we order shrimp and lobster salad . Shrimp was really delicious the salad on the other hand was like they just slapped a frozen lobster on top of the salad zero flavor zero effort. I will definitely come back but not ordering that lobster salad again. Oh drinks were really good too

Had dinner at River and Post and it completely lived up to the hype. The atmosphere is classy but still relaxed, and the rooftop view over the river is incredible. I ordered the filet and it was cooked perfectly with great flavor and tenderness. The sides and presentation matched the quality of the main dish. Service was friendly, attentive, and professional from start to finish. The rooftop bar after dinner made for the perfect way to end the night. Definitely one of the best dining experiences in Jacksonville and a spot I’ll keep coming back to.

From the moment we walked into River and Post, we knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a vibe that felt both upscale and comfortable at the same time. Our server set the tone right away with genuine care and attentiveness — not just polite, but truly engaged in making sure we had the best experience possible. The food was nothing short of amazing. Every dish came out beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. You could tell there was thought put into each flavor profile, and the balance between textures and seasonings was spot on. It wasn’t just a meal, it felt like a well-crafted dining experience. What stood out most was the consistency — attentive service from start to finish, perfectly timed courses, and a kitchen that clearly knows how to execute. It’s rare to find a place where great food and outstanding hospitality go hand in hand so seamlessly. River and Post has quickly become one of my favorite dining spots, and I can’t recommend it enough. If you’re looking for a restaurant where the food, service, and atmosphere all come together perfectly, this is the place to be.

I took my Wife here for a Date Night and IM SO HAPPY I DID!! This is an amazing place. Me and my wife ate downstairs at the restaurant. We decided to eat at the bar so we can have a drink and the food was pretty good as well. I really enjoyed my steak and calamari✅😋😋and my wife really liked her food it was some kind of fish dish. I really don’t remember the name, but I just remember it being good when I tasted it.lol AND THEY DID HAVE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! And afterwards we got on the elevator to go to their rooftop and the view of Jacksonville is beautiful and they have these lounge sitting area areas where you can sit down have drinks, relax look at the view mingle with some people up there and we did all of the above we met new friends had good drinks!!! IF YOUR IN JACKSONVILLE CHECK IT OUT!! ✅✅👍🏽

Google
The environment is noisy but you can still hold a table conversation inside. The onion rings were probably the best we have ever had and the mustard sauce they serve with them is a game changer. I got the Grouper Special with tomato risotto, shrimp, and oysters. It was phenomenal. Their portions are generous and their breading in fried items was minimal, yet just enough.

Denise M.

Google
Just phenomenal! From the friendly hosts and service (& the view) on the roof and in the restaurant to beautiful drinks and food. This place is a gem. Our server Owen was fabulously friendly and welcoming. She was attentive and just all around wonderful. I eat mostly plant based foods and I don't drink alcohol (barrel of fun, I know- lol) so I was really pleased to see a great selection of vegan dishes and mocktails. I had the vegan crab cakes and a lavender haze - both soooo delicious. My family also enjoyed the Broiled Market oysters with chorizo, onion rings for an app plus the Halibut special and New York strip Marsala. You guys are really killing it! I can not wait to come back. Highly highly recommend! Don't miss this place while in Jax.

Google
This was our second time at River & Post, but our first time trying their brunch, and it did not disappoint! I went with the Ultimate Brunch Burger and can honestly say it was one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten. My wife had the huevos rancheros, which she really enjoyed, though a little heads-up that it’s a shareable plate would’ve been nice. Between this brunch experience and our first visit for rooftop dinner, River & Post continues to impress us. We’ll definitely be back!

Chrystianna H.

Google
The view was amazing. The food is just appetizers if you sit roof top. We got the fish dip and buffalo chicken pizza. Yumm 😋The drinks are delicious. Our server Laura was perfect. ⭐️

Yelp
River and Post is one of those places in Jacksonville that you just have to try if you're ever in the area. It's an amazing two-story venue that has the full service restaurant on bottom and a rooftop bar with an abbreviated menu on top. The food and atmosphere are amazing and you definitely feel like you are at one of the most in demand Restaurants in town. During my last visit, I had the shrimp and grits and it was delicious. The thing I loved most is that they didn't skip you on the shrimp! They were large and flavorful. I also added a few biscuits just to try, but to be honest, I wasn't a big fan of those. For me this place is a four out of five and you would be hard pressed to have a bad experience here.

Yelp
Went for brunch and had a great time. Ordered the sangria and another drink that I can't recall right now but it came with a blackberry garnish. My husband loved it so much he got a second drink. The food menu was definitely unique with menu pairings I haven't seen before. I got the chicken and ginger waffles with relish. I wasn't sure of how the flavors would or together but I still wanted to try. I'd give it a 7.5/10. The waffles had the slightest hint of ginger and was served with a mint infused syrup. The bacon on my husband's bread pudding French toast tasted delightful. The French toast was perfectly moist with and fluffy.

Yelp
I'm in town for a friends birthday and she chose this for brunch. Overall, I would come back and try some of the other menu items. Ambiance: great bar, good length seating, and accommodations for large crowds. The servers were all extremely welcoming as soon as we arrived Drinks: we ordered several different alcoholic brunch items- Mimosas, sangrias, and a mixed drink. They were flat, same drinks looked and tasted different and consistency is important to me Food: I had the lobster Benedict which had amazing lobster portions- it needed a little seasoning but the elements were there. I skimmed a friends lemon ricotta pancakes and that was recommended by the waiter- it was so delicious and I would go back for More of that.

Yelp
ROOFTOP BAR REVIEW / LOCAL-ISH* REVIEW: River & Post offers both a ground level restaurant and a rooftop bar overlooking the St. Johns River, a great location in the Avondale historic district. And good news, the building has its own parking lot! You can find some street parking, but it was very easy to park in the lot behind the building. At a first glance though, it feels like you're parking at an apartment. I visited with my mom and younger sister. We opted for the rooftop bar which is first come, first serve. As a mother-daughter group, we were pleased to see a diverse group of age ranges among the other guests. It makes it clear, all are welcome. The views were gorgeous. This would be a great place to bring friends as they had large booths. We sat at a 4-top that was perfect for us. And who can resist the aesthetic charm of a plant wall with a neon sign? The rooftop menu is different than the ground-level restaurant, but there was plenty to choose from. We ordered the pulled pork nachos which were tasty. We had never had cucumber on nachos, but we thought it added a fresh crunch! We also got a pizza which smelled so amazing that we dug right in and I forgot to take a photo... it was around a $20 pizza and between the 3 of us, we were able to take home leftovers. Our favorite was definitely the Nuts and Berries which may have been a seasonal drink. It was a dessert cocktail and it was deliciously sweet. Prices ranged $13+ for the cocktails which I think is typical of a trendy location. I look forward to visiting again the next time I'm in Jacksonville! *By Local-Ish, I do not reside in Jacksonville. But I visit frequently due to friends and family that live there.

Yelp
The service ambience is great. If you want a full meal you can eat down in their restaurant. If you want to just chill and have finger foods, then you can go to their roof top and enjoy a nice view of jacksonville and have a drink. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for something like that.

Yelp
River a Post...what can I say. It looks good on your Jax dining resume but was it really good? I would say no. A friend of mine raves about this restaurant but it left a lot to be desired in my opinion. I didn't hate but I also didn't love it. I didn't leave thinking about the next time. Great ambiance, rooftop was also nice, and zero complaints about the service. But as for taste it fell short.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything' is amazing $3 Mimosas Bread Pudding to die for Lemon Ricotta Pancakes reminded me of Sicily and their sweet lemon curd. Eggs Benedict made perfect Fish Tacos so crunchy and delicious R &P even has a roof top bar with live music This is where you can bring a date or hang out with your girlfriends. It truly is special and has ample parking. Best service ever.

Yelp
Tasty lunch on the patio. I decided to treat myself with a dreamcicle mocktail that gave me Orange Julius vibes. And enjoyed my lobster roll with good helping of meat and with my side of drawn butter request made it a great bite. The fries were also thick cut and nice balance of crisp and soft. Definitely left happy

Yelp
We came here for brunch on a Saturday and arrived just around opening. It's a beautiful restaurant and had a nice relaxed atmosphere. The menu had a lot of dishes I would have loved to try, so I am looking forward to coming back. My sister and I both wanted to try the lemon ricotta pancakes and the lobster Benedict, so we ordered them both and shared. We also added bacon, and Gouda grits as sides. It was more than enough food for us both! There were 3 large fluffy lemon ricotta pancakes, and they were incredible. The bacon is very thick cut and somehow still perfectly crispy. The Gouda grits were great and cooked to a nice, thick consistency. I did feel a bit underwhelmed by the lobster Benedict. It wasn't bad, but to me it seemed lacking in flavor. The tomato actually stood out most in flavor to me. It was a bit ironic that my friend ordered it as well but got no tomato or avocado and she enjoyed her Benedict. I think I may have enjoyed it more with a different pairing flavor or without the tomato. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and our server Emily was super sweet. It's being added to my staple places in the area.

Yelp
The ambiance is ok and the service is mediocre! The food was not good ordered a dish with pan seared seafood the shrimp over seasoned the Mahi was dry so they cooked a second piece and it was worst! The manager had the nerves to only take off $16 for a $39 meal that I did not eat I ate two scallops and a shrimp. This place is overrated and the food is subpar. I should not have to ask for a meal to be removed that I did not eat. It's not about the che k because we sat on rooftop and had already paid the food was horrible.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place forever and finally decided to go for my birthday! Amazing food and an amazing view!!
google avatar

Yelp
What a cool spot! Beautiful rooftop. Get the scallops.... They were amazing! The burrata as an app was also very good. My husband said the short rib special was fantastic and would order again.

Yelp
Quick service for a party of 8 on a Monday evening. Drinks came out quick, food in reasonable time. New York strip was very tasty!
google avatar

Matthew C.

Yelp
Had a reservation for 12 on Monday night. The service started slow and felt choppy. The restaurant was less than half full. It did seem to get better. The food was good and I thought the wine selection offered some good values. I had one of the specials which was a flounder on pasta with spinach and peas. It was good but I think there may have been a couple peas and pieces of spinach. There was a lot of pasta because pasta is a cheap ingredient to load the plate with. I would consider giving this place another try but will check out some other options first!
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
We only went to the rooftop for cocktails at River and post. We also nibbled on wings they were a bit under cooked. There was live music this night which was a nice vibe. They did end up getting a little busy so the service was a bit slow but over all the views made it all worth it. The best seats were the high top tables facing the river
google avatar

David A.

Yelp
River and Post features good food for brunch, great drink selections, and perhaps one of the best atmospheres of any restaurant in the Jacksonville area. The staff and service have always been stellar on our visits as well. This is a Riverside staple and a must visit if you're in the area. One of the better brunch experiences in the area. Only opportunity here is the price point. You are paying for that atmosphere and service and it's not outrageous by any means but some brunch dishes are better than others. I do highly recommend the Papas Bravas.
google avatar

Stephanie A.

Yelp
The rooftop view is beautiful in the day and at night! Great food when you have lunch or dinner on the first floor. The rooftop opens up later in the afternoon and there is a separate menu that has late night plates and drinks.
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
Celebrating my birthday here was one for the books. Our server was in the top tier I've ever had, which only added to our dinner. The appetizers of dynamite shrimp and fried goat cheese could have been the meal. But we pressed on for pork chop and scallops. Both were cooked to perfection and jammed with flavor that paired so well. We ended with the brownie sundae and a candle blowout for me. We retired to the rooftop bar for some adult beverages and jaw dropping views of the city and river. The weather cooperated and magnified the ambiance. Highly recommend coming here for date night and special occasions.
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant with a wide range of menu options. We stopped in at the rooftop lounge for a drink before our reservations. Gorgeous views and great drinks. Our meal we delicious, we started with dynamite shrimp, it was a good size portion for 4 people. Our mains were, the chef special (halibut), crab cakes, salmon and the filet mignon. All were perfectly prepared and well portioned. I highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Thank you so much to the Sabrina and all of the staff for lunch yesterday (Thursday)! This was my first lunch experience here & so happy to see this place is just great across the board! We had so much fun and wishing you all an amazing Christmas season! Fine dining without the stuffiness! The lobster salad and shrimp po boy! The Smokey old fashioned... 10s across the board!
google avatar

Tonya H.

Yelp
Oh my my my my....in town to visit some friends and we opted for this location based on the views and food. So glad that we did! Me and two friends opted to get our own entree and share the lemon ricotta pancakes and sweet baby the plate was huge! Not pictured is the lobster Benedict which was exceptional. My friends both enjoyed their entrees of the breakfast platter and regular eggs Benedict. Let's not forget to mention the $3 mimosas!!!!! Great customer service, great food and location as well! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Olivia B.

Yelp
We had a great time here. My bouillabaisse was so good and filling! I had a great cocktail that was recommended by our waitress. Check out the rooftop for excellent views of Jacksonville. Can't wait to return
google avatar

Yelp
The R&P burger is amazing and the fries were extra crispy. Vibes are great for an elevated chill night.
google avatar

Ashton J.

Yelp
Very pleased with this restaurant and coming here for the first time. The staff was friendly and the waiter was very nice. The restaurant itself had a good amount of seating. You could choose from the bar, tabletop, or even eat on the rooftop. The food was amazing as well and was very flavorful. I appreciated on the menu that it showed pictures of the food so you could see what eat item looked like and as well list the types of food restrictions so people with allergies can know what to stay away from and what was safe to eat.
google avatar

Sheila H.

Yelp
Nothing real memorable about the food taste wise presentation wise that would make me recommend this to someone else
google avatar

Aimee P.

Yelp
Coolest place on JAX hands down! Celebrated a friend's birthday and we had a great time. Great food, great service, great drinks! Everything we order was GREAT! There was one dessert, i forgot to take a pic but that vanilla cake was 10/10 Rooftop bar has killer views ! Just keep in mind rooftop menu and restaurant menu completely different.
google avatar

Imani B.

Yelp
I've been once I got a burger and fries can't go wrong with that but I didn't really like either it but everyone's taste buds are different
google avatar

Kathy C.

Yelp
River & Post was OK for us. I liked the restaurant itself, the atmosphere, the service, the decor etc... what I am not crazy about is the food, unfortunately. Hubby and I recently had dinner there. We started with a couple of cocktails - I had the Candy Heart (tasty) and hubby tried the Sazerac (good). We shared calamari as appey (meh). For entrees, I tried their sea scallops dish and hubby tried the Bouillabaisse. While both dishes sounded good, they were disappointing to us. The Bouillabaisse was surprisingly bland for a bowl piled with seafood. My scallops dish was ok. Scallops only seared on one side only but still tasted ok. What I didn't really care for was the taste of the sweet pea risotto, which is probably more of a preference thing. So overall we had a decent time for a date night kind of dinner experience, but ultimately did not find their food exciting. It might be a great hang out place to have a couple of beer or cocktail with some shareable because the restaurant itself does have a great atmosphere.
google avatar

Laura A.

Yelp
It's been a while since we last visited and we made sure to reserve a table ahead since we were told previously it is needed for weekend brunch. The inside dining area is beautiful and our table right next to a window had a nice view. Tablet menus were great and we were able to order quickly. Both our entrees were ready pretty quickly, which was not surprising since the restaurant seemed pretty empty for 1:30pm on a Saturday. My salmon salad was good and my husband's lunch was good as well, just nothing that wowed us. Service and ambiance was excellent.
google avatar

Karen D.

Yelp
The food is above average. Typical menu and pricing for a restaurant of this ilk. Great location. I go occasionally. The staff has always been very attentive and provides great service.
google avatar

Holly M.

Yelp
We came here for brunch on our anniversary, mainly because the mimosas were $3 each. That being said, they don't really skimp on their entree prices. But why would they when the food is up to par? I ordered the eggs Benedict over a crispy potato cake. I was satisfied with that but then I tasted my husbands steak tostada and it was out of this world! Wow!! I won't be ordering anything else for brunch there in the future, so delicious! The drinks were great too
google avatar

Cathy O.

Yelp
Service and food were amazing. Food delicious. Cute lunch spot. In an area of limited parking there is plenty of parking out back.
google avatar

Amiyah G.

Yelp
I went to River and Post for a quick bite to eat with some friends. We all ordered different foods but I selected the calamari appetizer and it was pretty disappointing. It was extremely tough and under seasoned. Some friends did order cocktails and I specifically remember one raving about her lemon drop. I also had a bite of the fish dip that was being shared around the table and that was also really good! My only other complaint would be that another staff member had tossed a saucer down on the table, after I asked for an extra sauce, and just walked away without any warning or words. It was rude and unnecessary but I always extend grace because maybe he was just having a rough day. It just caught me all the way off guard; but the person who truly made the experience was the server and she definitely deserves her praises! I wish I could remember her name but she had glasses and brown hair and was so kind and helpful!
google avatar

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
Brunch was amazing! Everyone gets their own individual iPad to peruse the menu. I had the Summit to sip on and it was delicious! Everyone's food came out fresh, hot, and perfectly plated. Our server (Brett) was so friendly, very helpful, and most importantly patient with a table of opinionated women! Rooftop bar was a great extension to a relaxing day!
google avatar

Matthew O.

Yelp
Really solid place for breakfast and brunch in the Five Points area of Jacksonville! Love the overall aesthetics and ambiance of this place. Service is friendly and efficient as well. I tried the potato latkes with smoked salmon and was not disappointed. The portion size is huge! The potato latkes was crispy on the outside and was a great vehicle for the smoked salmon. They were also really generous with the smoked salmon, with nice thick slices. The sour cream drizzle was a great complement to the dish as well. Overall, excellent place. Parking can be a bit tight and limited, but well worth it if you can come here :)

Jay R.

Yelp
Nice ambiance for a date night. Service was fine but honestly a bit slow which seems odd for how they portray themselves as upscale. Food was fine but not really anything special...it was cooked properly but doesn't seem to match the pricing. Probably best to just enjoy some drinks on the roof and eat somewhere else.
google avatar

Julie A.

Yelp
The best view in Jacksonville is undoubtedly River & Post! I loved it so much that I went twice during one of my visits. This is the kind of vibe you get at larger cities and I'm here for it! The food is delicious, the drinks are strong, and the service is friendly, also. The price is comparable to what you would pay at a larger metropolitan city, but it's not too bad. I wish there were more options for someone with a dairy allergy. They had a DJ one of the days we went there. It would have been nice to get a table overlooking the water on our first visit but seating was super limited so we found seats at the bar. We were much luckier on our second visit when we arrived earlier.
google avatar

Erin P.

Yelp
Oh my goodness. The food was incredible. We got the fried goat cheese appetizer and I can't recommend it highly enough!!! We split the crispy salmon and the NY strip- so delicious. The drinks were great too! Our server, Jess, made excellent recommendations and was so great!! We sat inside and it makes for a lovely backdrop for date night! It's a little spendy, so maybe not an every night spot, but perfect for an occasion!
google avatar

Robin R.

Yelp
Such a fun great place to hangout. Bristol and Julia were so great, took such good care of us and took time to talk with us. We laughed and had a really good time. These 2 ladies are amazing!!!' Thank you Bristol and Julia! Food was awesome m, good beers and don't pass on the chocolate martini!
google avatar

Tiffany L.

Yelp
I came here for brunch and was very impressed with the food! Their brunch is the best of what they offer, in my opinion. The fried oysters were delicious and I definitely recommend getting these. It'a going to be a staple for me. I was a bit disappointed that I was offered extra hush puppies in place of the cole slaw but was given extra fries in place of it instead. The steak and eggs were also good, though I asked for it to be cooked medium and it was a bit on the rare side. Some pieces were less cooked than medium rare. I also asked for no sour cream, but they gave it to me anyways, unfortunately. The brunch food is great, but the brunch service could use some work considering we had more than 1 mishap with our orders.
google avatar

Melanie W.

Yelp
This is places becoming one of my favorite places! We decided to come back here at night and check out the view and the atmosphere and we were not disappointed! The view from the rooftop was beautiful, seeing downtown Jacksonville at night was absolutely stunning, the appetizers were on point the drinks that they serve recommended were really good and she was really friendly. So we were to enjoy ourselves. I would definitely recommend this place if you just wanna go out for a night and chill and you're not really into going out to clubs and dancing.
google avatar

Donald G.

Yelp
The food was delicious the service was great.will go back.will send friends and family over. I loved it.

Yelp
Dont go prior to 4pm on a weekend ... as you will be forced to eat the brunch menu... which is not very appetizing.... Dinner menu is the best ! Main repeating appetizer at my table was the crab cake
google avatar

Charlotte P.

Yelp
Yummy! I was so excited to finally have the time and perfect company to visit. Upon entry we headed upstairs but decided the rooftop menu although intriguing was not what we wanted. Back downstairs and a patio table in 15 minutes. We were greeted by Jacob our waiter for the afternoon. He was accommodating, personable and oh so handsome! We started with beer, bourbon and a mimosa! Orders came later. Salmon Sakad, Frittata and Eggs Benedict were the decisions. Food arrived with a hiccup but was quickly resolved. Having our server took all the blame instead of blaming the kitchen. So commendable. Food was delicious, patio was so enjoyable and drinks delicious!
google avatar

Colin S.

Yelp
Food was great, good portions, respectable pricing. Server was newer, admittedly did not like brunch, and couldn't provide recommendations... overall great spot!
google avatar

Mylinh D.

Yelp
Very disappointed,My medium ribeye steak was char grill to where the fat part was bitter. I was told by the staff that" the chef "stated that because of the burner they used to charcoal grill the steak, there's no way they could make the steak not burnt. I've had charcoal steak else where before that the steak fat wasn't burnt and leave terrible bitter taste as I did this evening. I came and look forward to a nice juicy fatty ribeye and was very disappointed. So if you want a good steak look else where I would hate for someone who like their steak well done to taste like coals if they can't make a medium steak right . On the other note Also had crab cake and scallops, which was pretty tasty. My friend had shrimp and lobster pasta . We will definitely won't be back. It was definitely an experience........
google avatar

Gabi Y.

Yelp
Came here with my boyfriend for Valentine's Day & it was so lovely! Very casual, yet lively atmosphere. The menu is on an iPad, which was pretty cool, and the food was delicious. We both got steaks. And for the appetizer we got the chorizo dish (so yummy! I do wish there was more bread to dip though). Our waiter was kind & attentive. After we went up to the rooftop and had some yummy drinks and our waitress was very sweet. Will definitely go back!

Edwin B.

Yelp
We've had our TEAM Brunch there couple of times in the Oak and it doesn't disappoint. We also had the same server, Jade, the for our experience each time and she's Great.

Yelp
The rooftop area is such a nice place for a happy hour or other get together. We only got to have the pizza but it was delicious. There were quite a few items that were listed on the menu that looked great and even more dishes we saw get served at other tables that looked good from afar. I recommend the rooftop area, and the little nook off the to the side has a little less wind than the main area.
