River Twice is a cozy, upscale American eatery in Philly, offering a dynamic tasting menu that celebrates local ingredients with a creative twist.
"When you first sit down at River Twice, you’ll notice that every table has built-in utensil drawers. Everything at this East Passyunk corner spot is that thoughtful, especially their $75 tasting menu that changes every single night. It's all interesting—dishes use ingredients and combinations that you won’t see at a lot of other restaurants. We’re talking about things like halibut with smoked scallop butter or heirloom corn grits with peekytoe crab and crab fat sofrito. While most of the menu focuses on seafood, but you can (and should) add on The Mother Rucker burger, which is the best in the city." - alison kessler, candis mclean
"River Twice thrives on details. Every table has built-in utensil drawers. Each menu is stamped with the date. Every dish in the $75 four-course tasting incorporates a delicate little sauce or an infused oil that someone probably lost sleep over. These facts would normally point to a boring restaurant. But between the inventive food—often made with East Coast seafood and produce, Japanese and French techniques, and some Texas flair—and the handful of cooks scurrying around the open kitchen, you'll be pleasantly locked into your meal. Come for a big-deal dinner and, unless you hate yourself and/or don't eat meat, add on the Mother Rucker burger (our favorite in the city)." - candis mclean, alison kessler
"River Twice in East Passyunk messes around with plenty of koji butter, golden trout roe, and firefly squid on their four-course tasting menu. But they also make Philly's best burger as an add-on element on Mondays only. It's straightforward—as a great burger should be. Two beef patties with crispy edges and perfectly pink middles are topped with cooper sharp, pickled red onions, a slathering of everything-seasoned mayonnaise, all between toasted sesame seed buns. All thriller, no filler." - candis mclean, alison kessler
"Eating at the bar is always a pro move (it’s just cooler), especially true at River Twice in Passyunk Square. Amanda and Randy Rucker’s fashionable restaurant prioritizes a multi-course tasting menu. Reservations for both the counter and the rest of the restaurant are available on Resy." - Eater Staff
"Randy and Amanda Rucker’s New American River Twice features a four-course, seasonal tasting menu that offers the full spectrum of chef Randy Rucker’s repertoire (see: charred Caraflex cabbage or soft-shell crab in koji butter). All of the dishes are heavy on flavor, personality, and creativity, and the restaurant itself is just a lovely place at which to dine." - Eater Staff, Ernest Owens
