"What began as a bait shop in 1956 is now 3,800 square feet of covered decks just steps from the Cumberland River in Ashland City. Boaters are welcome to tie up their vessels on the 240-foot transient dock and stock up on two-cycle oil, food, and beer to go. Large sunlit windows and plentiful outdoor seating offer a stellar backdrop to Riverview Restaurant’s popular catfish dishes and creamy banana pudding." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

Oh boy do I love this place! It may be slightly different than a pure traditional Southern catfish in that the cornmeal coating is a bit lighter and crispier then most other places I've eaten at. But I think they do some of the best fried mushrooms that I've eaten in years. They're always super hot and fresh their catfish is fried perfectly they have tons of good toppings, their french fries are awesome, the turnip greens, white beans, coleslaw, and fried okra are all top-notch! Their tea is amazing as well!

Google
Lovely place with great people and amazing views! Enjoyed the food, so fresh and big portions. It has a big seating area but you feel like you’re in a small town restaurant. Definitely will go back!

Google
Exceptional customer service Beth was absolutely amazing! The cocktails are great as well. We had the tan line which is vanilla rum and coke- it was great. The wife had the bloody mary, and it was delicious with old bay rim, pickled okra, and a slim Jim. I had the three piece catfish dinner with greens and white beans 10/10***** Catfish was cooked to perfection and the beans were amazing as well as the greens. The chow chow was phenomenal! The wife had the build your own combo and got clam strips, catfish, crab cakes with fries and white beans. All of it was amazing. We will definitely be back to try more delicious food. Highly recommend *

Google
Could stand up strong to the best seafood places I've ever had! The fish is delicious, clam strips were not rubbery, but perfectly cooked. The drinks are a bit expensive, but made PERFECTLY so well worth the price. My waitress Beth, was very knowledgeable of the menu and area, pointing us to all the cool stuff to do and try on the menu. Highly recommend this beautiful spot with all the wildlife to watch.

Google
Found this one on satellite view and it’s definitely worth the hour long drive. Got a catfish and pork chop combo followed by a chocolate fudge cake. River views were great too.

Google
This is riverside dining at its best. Indoor or outside you can sit and view the beautiful Cumberland river. Food and service were good, atmosphere was very nice.

Google
Great place to eat in the river! The food and the service was good. Visiting from out of town otherwise we would definitely come back!

Google
Nice view and the staff were friendly. I had popcorn shrimp, crab cake, fried okra and white beans. The popcorn shrimp was overcooked. It was extremely dry. I didn't like the coating on everything, it was really dry. The white beans had do flavor. Which I was surprised by. We also had the shrimp jammers. They were fantastic. The catfish was good the coleslaw was nice. Not a place I would go to again for seafood. It was just okay.

Yelp
I love this place. I like to sit by the window and watch the birds. There are pictures done by local artists that change from time to time. The food is like home! Makes you feel comfortable and warm inside. The staff are kind and some know how to make you laugh or keep up with your family member that has all the jokes. LOL good people and good good!!!! The view though!!!! this is my place when I just want to relax and let things go.

Howard B.

Yelp
Hamburger advertised as fresh not it was fresh frozen crap, never again will I waste hard earned money on this kind of nasty

Yelp
Nice relaxing ambiance with good food at great prices. Service was friendly and attentive.

Yelp
What an amazing find in Ashland City just a short 30 minute drive from downtown. On the river so the ambiance is breathtaking and so peaceful. The outdoor patio dining space was so relaxing wirh the view is the water and the bridge. Boats coming and going as you can tie up in their dock. Big barges going down the river too. They even had twinkle lights when it got dark. The food was absolutely divine! The service was top notch! Our server was Cat and she was the best! She made suggestions based on our dietary restrictions and was spot on! Their "pork loin/grilled pork chop was so tender and flavorful. The grilled shrimp tasted fresh and cooked perfectly. The sides were paired perfectly with a huge hot baked potato, slaw, white beans, hush puppies and green beans. We even splurged wirh their famous chocolate cake. We will be back! Great place to take friends. A hidden gem!
google avatar

Dawn M.

Yelp
Wonderful atmosphere, limited menu but decent food. Service is always great! We like to stop and dock our boat. Only issue is they do not allow dogs on the outdoor patio

Yelp
There was a bit of a wait for Sunday brunch, but worth the wait. Food & service were excellent. Reasonably priced and great ambiance. Highly recommended!!!

Yelp
Not the upscale place we expected, but in a good way. The staff was friendly and attentive. The prices were good. The menu was smaller than than expected though. The setting was great. We'll go back.

Yelp
Food quality is excellent -- most everything is handcrafted in the kitchen. Location is nice -- nestled along the West side of the Cumberland River across the bridge from downtown Ashland City. Service team is well trained and work well together -- starting drink orders until waitperson is free. Catfish is the centerpiece of the menu -- but we veered towards the shrimp dishes which were pretty dang good! Adult beverages are available. During the prime time tourist season when the docks are full -- the massive outdoor deck with bar is open.

Yelp
Loved the location. It's on the river and has tons of outdoor and indoor seating. The food was very good. We had catfish po-boys with fried okra and white beans. Had a really nice lunch outside here on a beautiful Spring day. Can't wait to do it again.

Randi H.

Yelp
Nothing fancy but good stuff at a good price and it has a nice view. Staff is always nice and attentive.

Roy B.

Yelp
Not what it used to be and I've lived in this town since 1999 and idk what it is but the menu feels smaller and the service not as friendly but the view and food is decent
google avatar

Yelp
As a Northerner experiencing fried catfish for the first time, I must say I was pleasantly surprised! Fantastic location and views, and the staff could not be more lovely and welcoming. Will definitely return

Yelp
My sister and I ate here for the first time back in November on a cold, windy day. We wanted to sit outside and didn't regret it, as the view of the river is quite peaceful. Our server was very charismatic and attentive. We both ordered the catfish and shrimp plate with two sides. All of it was delicious except the white beans that weren't seasoned enough (per the sister). The catfish and hush puppies were very flavorful and decadent. For dessert, we split a hot fudge cake that could have used a bit more fudge sauce. Overall, it was a very satisfying meal, nice ambience, and great service. We will definitely be back here again after another hike in the future.

Yelp
This place is popping on a Friday night. Expect southern comfort food with a casual, lodge cafeteria-esque ambience. It's right by the river so if the weather is nice, I'd recommend sitting outside. The view is lovely. Food wise, I recommend the combo of here you can pick either two or three mains with two sides. I was pleasantly surprised by the pork loin, which was tender and flavorful. The fried okra came in a generous portion and the crab cake was small but loaded with flavor. The slaw is mayo based and on the sweeter side. Green beans were very flavorful as well. The loaded potato is definitely loaded with toppings and very filling. The bam bam shrimp is mayo heavy, sweet with a tiny kick. The banana pudding felt more like a trifle than a pudding. You can really taste the taste the wafers, which is a fun texture. Service was good and food was solid.

Yelp
Riverview Restaurant & Marina gets 5 stars from me for one reason.... Broiled Catfish! No question, they have the best in the Nashville area. I go here at least once a week just to get broiled catfish with green beans and hush puppies (also both excellent). True, the menu is otherwise fairly limited and some of the items are there to appeal to tourists, but that's not the point. Any place that can consistently have one entree that is hands down the best in town gets 5 stars from me. Riverview also has a couple of home made deserts when in season. The Pumpkin pie is especially awesome. Be sure to get window table. The view of the Cumberland river truly lives up to the Restaurant's name...

Rhett K.

Yelp
What you want and hope for at a Catfish restaurant. They have Good servers and service.

Yelp
This was my second time to eat at Riverview Restaurant. It's a rustic building with a view of the Cumberland. Yes, I'm boring, had a GREAT hamburger and French fries both times. They were delicious both times. The service was really nice, the place was VERY clean. The staff went out of their way to seat my friend and me in a slightly secluded area so we could visit. The waitress even came searching for me sitting in a chair at the front of the building to return my credit card the Zi had inadvertently left on the table. I highly recommend this place for a quick lunch if in Ashland City.

Sandy B.

Yelp
My husband and I visited the area and decided to eat lunch at Riverview. It was a great choice. We both had Bam Bam Shrimp which was delicious. Service was great and the weather was nice enough for us to sit on the deck to see the river. Definitely would go back.

Dayana V.

Yelp
Decent. Everyone at work was raving about this place so when we had the opportunity to go for work lunch... we went. It was a nice day so we sat out on the back patio. It took a little while before we were greeted, but staff seemed decent. Drinks weren't refilled adequately. Food was decent. Nothing extravagant or anything that stood out. Not sure if it was part of mid day slump or what.

Yelp
Stayed at an Airbnb in Ashland City, TN. We were looking for a local restaurant instead of driving into Nashville. What a great find with a gorgeous view of the Cumberland River. I got Catfish and it was delicious.
google avatar

Ray R.

Yelp
Out riding our bikes one Saturday band stopped in for lunch. The folks were nice and sitting on the deck with a view of the river was relaxing after a few hours of riding. The food was spot on, there was 7 of us and no one was disappointed. The only disappointment was we didn't have room to try more items off the menu. If ever back in the neighborhood it will be our 1st stop for lunch and a cold beer

Kristi S.

Yelp
My husband and I have been to Riverview many times. The food, the service, and the atmosphere are all good! We really love to get a table on the deck, on a pretty day. You don't even have to like catfish to go... there are plenty of other delicious choices! The shrimp, the chicken, the burgers... it's all good!
google avatar

Daniel H.

Yelp
I'll start out by saying my wife loves this place. But I think that's from days gone by. Service is always slow, food is mediocre, drinks are average, and choices of food is very limited. Oh and it's expensive.

Rick T.

Yelp
Very nice option. Great views and location. Had a job in the area, have eaten lunch here for the last three days.
google avatar

Donna N.

Yelp
The first place we went out to eat since the virus shut everything down. They were practicing social distancing and the wait time was 30 minutes on Sunday afternoon. It wasn't the best catfish dinner I've ever had, but it was good enough. I liked that we came in on our boat and got a table outside. The next time I eat here, I plan to try their shrimp poboy.
google avatar

Rob M.

Yelp
Had the fried catfish dinner and it was really good. It came with hush puppies, coleslaw, and a baked potato. Really good dinner along with super polite waitresses. We sat inside and had a nice view of the river.

Mallory L.

Yelp
We love coming to Riverview! The food is always so good, and the service is always great! Location right on the water is a great atmosphere!
google avatar

Thorn M.

Yelp
Pretty awful food. Wanted to like this place bc of the River, but the food is awful. Nasty frozen heavily bartered super chewy shrimp, burger just as bad. This place needs an overhaul badly, maybe reinvent itself as a Cajun spot? I won't go back until that happens.
google avatar

Hailey H.

Yelp
Their food is so good! The key lime pie is phenomenal! I would highly suggest eating here if/when you get a chance! You will not be disappointed!

Cheryl M.

Yelp
Fried and broiled fish was pretty good. Hush puppies were excellent. However, waitress insisted that the spinach they tried to pass off as turnip greens were "fresh frozen turnip greens". Since I didnt fall off the turnip truck yesterday, I know spinach when I see it and when I eat it! When we left I noticed other people's plates and they weren't eating it either.
google avatar

Dustin H.

Yelp
A solid, 3 star restaurant. Really friendly service, excellent view of the water, relatively solid menu options. The entrees we had were both really good (the fish and the chicken on rolls). The sides, in my opinion, were of the buffet/cafeteria/canned variety. Not bad but nothing to write home about. Some dessert options looked tempting as did drink options. I'll be back for another lunch or happy hour, for sure.

Landon W.

Yelp
If you have a very bland pallet and enjoy frozen food with a good view this is the spot for you!

Whitney S.

Yelp
On the road and stopped in early Wednesday night. We got a table with a great view of the Cumberland River. Our server was very friendly. I ordered catfish, green beans and baked potato. Food came out promptly and hot. Catfish was good. Hush puppies were really good. I enjoyed my meal. My husband had catfish and shrimp combo with fries and coleslaw. We split a banana pudding which was sizable and sweet. Overall it was a good meal and great service.

Yelp
Best place in Ashland City for a meal in a fun atmosphere. The large covered patio deck is very nice. They can handle larger parties. The menu is a lot of fried items but They have good sides, and a nice house salad. I wish they had more dessert choices. The pricing has increased in the last couple of years, but that is to be expected with almost any restaurant. My only observation is the staff, who seem fairly disinterested sometimes and Very , very casual. (It is a casual place though!) The owners are very well-known in the county, and they take great pride in their restaurant. We like supporting the local guy.

Yelp
I came here for my big ol' 33rd birthday with about 7 buddies. I called ahead to make sure they'd have space for us and enough fish ready to feed a small army, and the kind woman on the other end of the line laughed and told us to come on in. Three of us ordered the all you can eat catfish, everyone else got standard portions. Sides were good, hush puppies on point, and they kept the catfish coming. This is my 2nd birthday spent at Riverview and they always come through with solid service, quick drink refills and beer restocks, and the view of the river is awesome. Happy to support this Ashland City gem. Great lunch po'boys too. Patio whoops butt in the summer time. I recommend wholeheartedly.
google avatar

Phil S.

Yelp
Great view, better food, best service! This may be the best catfish I've ever had. Period.

Yelp
Oh my where do you begin? Positives are that this location is very pretty with a great view of the river and tiny birds and squirrels going about their business in the trees. The place is also very clean with a unique rustic atmosphere. And that's where the positives end. The food definitely does not deliver. Most items are frozen and reheated or definitely fried items that require no real culinary capabilities. The one thing that appears to be authentic is the catfish but I can't say for certain. We ordered "bobbers". Aside from being raw in the middle the flavor was completely lacking or overpowered by the VERY aggressive Roumalade. My husband had the Bam Bam Shrimp andnit was more like shrimp covered in mayo and definitely not a hint of Bam. I had the Sidney's Bluff Chicken and well it made me want to throw myself off the bluff, much less actually eat my meal. This was a completely unappealing combination. The chicken tenders had a strange mushy "unchicken" like texture and then had been topped with the strongest beef consume soaked mushrooms you've ever tasted, then topped with rubbery tasteless cheese. It was awful, seriously the second worst thing I've ever been served. When eating a chicken dish you don't want it to taste of concentrated beef broth and feel like mush in your mouth. Even the gross honey mustard they served with it couldn't mask the flavor. It was paired with a baked potato drowned in some sort of whipped tasteless butter and way too much sour cream, also without taste. Salt and pepper from the table couldn't even fix the potato, it was just a slimy yucky mess. I also had the salad bar, it reeked of swamp water.... but the salad was fresh and the toppings decent - except for the fake bacon bits- they really should have been left back in 1988. Service was mediocre, not the friendly atmosphere you expect from a country place. Waitress even made sure to let us know she just didn't have time to fool with our check instead of just letting us know we should pay up front. If your out on the boat and your starving, pull up to the dock, otherwise skip this place.

Yelp
You ever walk out of a restaurant and disappointingly think to yourself, "Wow, such a shame, so much potential."? That's Riverview. Amazing location, horrible execution. The food is completely unremarkable, there's nothing on the menu (and I've eaten the entire menu time over time) that leaves you sitting at thinking, "Man, we've got to go to Riverview and get some of that.... I'm totally craving it!" The only reason we come back time after time is because, simply put, it's the best option for eating out in Ashland City. As the city continues to evolve, Riverview will be left in the dust if they don't do something with the amazing space they've found themselves with.

Jr V.

Yelp
This was a wonderful experience! From the greeter to our server, everyone was so polite and efficient. I had the shrimp Po Boy and it was a big serving! All beverages were kept full and plates were cleared continuously. We had a seat with a view of the river. It was refreshing to be waited on by trained staff! We will recommend this restaurant to our friends and we will return!
google avatar

Lynn R.

Yelp
This is a great place for catfish. It's on the river and has a great view. The food was fresh and hot and Taste great. I recommend his place.
google avatar

Tori H.

Yelp
The catfish here is good. It's a nice place to come that's usually quiet if you eat outside and want a decent meal in Ashland City. Prices can't be beat. I also appreciated that our server was honest about what was frozen and what was made in house. We ordered all her recommendations and were not disappointed.
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
This place should be better than it is. It's a cross between a café and a diner which masquerades as a restaurant. It is a bit barn-like, but it is a nice place to sit. Picture windows look over the Cumberland river and the small dock...which masquerades as a marina. The service: We were met by a young bloke who told us we would need to wait to be seated outside. So we sat inside and noted there were tables everywhere outside. One young lady waitress told us we could sit anywhere we pleased...inside or out, but by then we had placed our orders and chose to remain where we were. Our waitress was very good and was the reason why Riverview was awarded three, rather than 1 or 2 stars. The food: My wife ordered catfish, greens and beans. She said it was very good, although the sides were not as hot as they could have been. I ordered fried mushrooms with horseradish sauce. There is a difference between fried in Australia and fried in America. I was expecting sautéed, not deep fried. But they were quite nice despite the cultural faux pas on my behalf. Then I ordered a burger. It was horrible! Our waitress noticed I didn't eat much of it, asked why and very kindly removed the charge from our check. So we ordered desert. my wife had the blueberry booze cake and said it was great....I had the brownie sundae and it was also very nice. To be fair, my wife had been there before and said it was very good. However, my experience is the subject of my critique; and my experience was rather a disappointment. I would like to try this place again, because it really should have been much better...So, next time we go kayaking on the Harpeth river, we will again call in on the way home.

Brenda Sue C.

Yelp
This Restaurant is absolutely fantastic place to take Family and Friends or Take groups of co-workers! Great food, desserts, the Views are beautiful and the Wrap around Porch is also my Favorite! Right on the River banks! AWESOME
google avatar

Brenda C.

Yelp
Great views, friendly staff and great service! Minimal wait time and food was great!!

A H.

Yelp
Really disappointed. Ordered fried mushrooms to start with, couldn't eat them, soggy and so unappealing. Told server, He charged me for them. Sisters meal was better, ground beef patty with gravy, beans were boring. The other item ordered was a burger, was ok. The side salad had a lot of croutons on it and the side dressing had spilled all over it. Go for the view, service slow. They did take off the mushrooms after I asked for a manager.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
Improved menu! I'm glad to see they are getting away from so much fried stuff. I had the NOLA shrimp and it was outstanding. Only one craft beer on tap though, more options there would be great.
google avatar

Zaneta Z.

Yelp
Great seafood!! If you love mozzarella sticks, definitely try the spicy cheese curds!! They're amazing!! When the weather is nice, ask to sit outside, the view is gorgeous! It's so relaxing out there. Great place for a casual date.
google avatar

Steven R.

Yelp
Our first time there to have dinner with another couple and I was very impressed with their ambiance, menu and service. I was hesitant at first because of both average and below average reviews, but the food was excellent! The staff were courteous and prompt, the decor reminded me of a handful of rustic restaurants I've frequented during my travels, and their catfish and hush puppies were delicious. I recommend the spicy cheese curds, they taste almost like mozzarella sticks, but bite sized, and their shrimp appetizer is great. Only thing lacking was a better selection of a salad bar, but don't forget their hush puppies, fantastic!
google avatar

J. W.

Yelp
Just a 25 minute ride from Nashville. Their catfish are farm-raised so they doesn't taste like river bottom. Hush puppies were on point. Wait staff was very courteous and attentive.
