Rizzo's Pizza

Quintessential NYC pizza shop with prices that aren’t absolutely ridiculous. No extra frills, just a good pizza at a good price delivered in a timely manner. Can’t go wrong with that, especially when other pizzerias have a mortgage down payment level cost on their pies. Edited to add: Order from their website! Third party apps scrape a lot of profits from restaurants and up charge the customer with extra fees. Their website is easy to order from, and they even have a rewards program. Support your local businesses directly as much as possible!

So happy to have found another great pizza place where they serve vegan cheese. The pizza tasted great, the delivery was quick and the customer service was wonderful and helpful as well! Definitely recommend!

This was my first New York pizza experience. The location checked all the stereotypical boxes a "non-New Yorker" would expect and hope from a local pizza location. The flavor and ingredients here were spectacular! I loved the pizza flavor options and their choices of drinks as well. It really felt like something small, yet earnest and sincere. I enjoy food chains and fancy restaurants as much as the next person, but this was an excellent experience. I appreciated the staff who were kind and patient with me while I was making my order. I legitimately would love to return here if I ever get the chance to come back to NYC. Keep up all your efforts and always remember the customer, because you did that for me and I greatly appreciate it.

Customer Service-Great Price-$ Parking-Street This pizza is unique. It’s literally thin crust pizza. The sauce and cheese were good enough for the pizza. The crust is so thin that as soon as you grab the slice it’s guaranteed to crumble. This is not your traditional NY slice but it’s a slice worth trying out once. Place is clean and prices are justified. If you are around the neighborhood give this slice a try.

Great pizza, nice atmosphere! We stopped in while visiting New York. It was on a Saturday night and we ordered and had our food it 10 minutes. The garlic knots are amazing. The pizza sauce is awesome. The staff is very friendly. It is worth the train ride from Manhattan to experience this place. They don’t have a bathroom so plan ahead.

Years ago, I used to work at a GameStop location not all that far from Rizzo’s. It was one of my regular go to lunch spots 😌 They have all the usual staples that most pizza places have as well as some specialty slices which I really enjoy. The pizza and garlic knots are pretty good but what really makes this place is the friendly service and the atmosphere fostered by the crew 😁 The guys are normally silly and friendly (they’ll usually talk to the customers as if they were part of the staff while the shop isn’t busy 😅). When it’s go time however, you really see what the crew is capable of.. They’re professional and quick to serve everyone while making zero mistakes in between it all 👌🏽💪🏽 Overall, Rizzo’s is one of my favorite pizza places in all of queens. They have a pretty diverse menu that everyone should try to work their way through! Update - Spring of 2021: They're STILL killin it (especially post Cov-SARS19-20). - New tables with a gorgeous soft naturist/simplicitic surface. - The counter space and menu have NEVER looked any cleaner or more visually appealing/concise than in it's current iteration. - Their POS system is up to date and it shows in the level of ease and professionalism with which the staff handle go time during these trying times 😌 All and all, I'm proud of the crew (and enjoy the new faces 😏😊😉🙃).

Clean place, great pizza! Nice people. Rizzos has a long history in Astoria. It's been there since the 1960s. They have a loyal following. I myself had my first pizza there at 5 years old. I still go there.

One of the best pizza places in NYC. Rizzo's finest pizza is the first pizza I ever had that is perfectly balanced between cheese sauce and dough I even ate the crust it was perfect and the employees are fantastic great customer service clean and by God do they know how to run it like a well oiled machine it gets VERY busy and I mean Busy I have never seen such a organized pizzeria ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Yato was pleasured to find that the pizza wasn't bad. Yato found out the place was under new ownership. Yato was worried, as the past few times Yato ate here, it was DISGUSTING. Yato thinks maybe they gave him soggy pizza from the dumpster of Gyro Uno. Crust seemed too thick to be their own leftovers. But this time? Solid. Nice amount of cheese and the pepperonis. Yato was surprised. He ordered expecting at best mid, and this was a solid night. Yato could almost shed a tear. Pie was still too small for the $20 price tag, but Yato took the bullet. If it was editable, Yato isn't going to complain too much. Yato will order again soon and see if it was a fluke. Be prepared for an update.

Loved visiting this shop that's been around since 1959. Employees were super nice and helpful. I tried their classic square and it was a bit dry, but had a nice sauce. There are a number of tables inside for seating, typical pizzeria atmosphere.

I I had this delivered :) enjoyed their cauliflower crust pizza! It was very tasty and the sauce was perfect. I got the eggplant and ricotta pizza. Very much enjoyed it. Their Arugula salad was also really good and filling !

When I was in Astoria, NY visiting, we got delivery and this pizza was recommended and I know why! This was my second time having NY pizza in NY and it didn't let me down! The crust of both our pizzas was crisp, flakey, chewy and amazing! We stuck to the basic pizzas vs specialty this time, but I would try a bunch of the others in the future! We got a classic pepperoni and a cheese with chicken and basil pesto. Oh yes and garlic knots! I wish I was back in NY to have more! I will be back and definitely recommend!!!

Rizzo's has been one of my fave pizzas in Astoria for years and they evolve w/ the times offering gluten free and vegan options They have a gluten free cauliflower crust that's crispy and can hold lots of toppings. And vegan cheese if you want it. The gluten free crust feels like it's homemade and has herbs in it. My only beef is it's price $25 for a speciality gf pizza which has toppings and about $20 for a gf cheese pizza and it's only about 10 inches The staff is always nice. I usually do pick up so can't speak about delivery

I ordered through Grubhub. Kept getting updates with a later delivery time. Finally after over 2 hours Rizzo's canceled the order due to a delivery problem. Why did it take so long? They couldn't even call or go e more Info. Getting too late to order from some place else because bt the time I get it it will be too late for me to eat that close to bedtime. I due to medical issues I need time foe my food to digest and have to get up at 6am If you want to wait all night and MAYBE get your food take a chance. Wish i could give 0 stars

I have been coming to Rizzo's for the last year or so and have been consistently happy with the quality of the food, the speed of delivery, and the efficient service. As far as delivery, i have always called and ordered from them directly and have had my pizza within the hour. If you go in and order a pie the wait is about 20 minutes. I always get the bbq chicken pizza no bacon and its so goooood. The chicken is sliced super thin and there's a good amount of sauce. If you want something to reheat maybe ask for extra sauce because it will dry out. The garlic rolls are UNREAL. Sometimes they're sold out so im always happy when they have them. The plain slice, square slice, and pepperoni slice are solid; but again the bbq chicken is so good, i always order a large of it!

Came here on a whim. Ordered their cauliflower personal pizza. The pizza was okay but nothing spectacular. The service was quick. At the time we were there, plenty of tables were available. No bathroom. I wouldn't come back unless I am in the area and dying of hunger. Probably better pizza elsewhere.

I've been going to this pizza place anytime I'm on steinway. Its small so on a packed day you will not get a seat. I used to love that they had RC cola, the most delicious soda ever. I was excited to see that they deliver now. Their pizza I admit taste better fresh out of the oven. I recommend dinning there rather than order. I gave them 5 stars because I know that the pizza is better in person. But don't get me wrong it was still warm and taste fresh. The people who work here have always been very nice to me. This really is one in one of my top 10 pizza places in Queens. I've been going to them for a little over 30 years now. You definitely have to get the square pizza its by far the best one you can eat. They do not have a bathroom on site or rather I never had to use one when I was there.

Last night I ordered the Calabria Stromboli. If you love garlic like me - this is a must. It is filled with eggplant, roasted red peppers, cheese and garlic. It was so good, I hated that I only ordered one! I also ordered the Bandiera square pie, named that because it is made with the colors of the Italian flag : plentiful amount of delicious spinach, mozzarella and ricotta, and a rich tomato sauce. It was so good, and luckily only two of us were eating it so I have some leftover slices to enjoy today and tomorrow for lunch!!! So good! I have been a patron of Rizzo's for over 30 years from just the cheese slices which I still love, to all their gourmet pies. They have added alot of new things to the menu and I am excited to try their new selections. Also just wanted to comment on the delivery - I have never had a problem when I ordered through the phone (calling Rizzo's directly) which they are always very nice and will give you an ETA in when it your order will arrive and also you can order through the Rizzo's site which I did last night and had no issues. Delivery was prompt, took about 30 mins but I didn't order much. Anyway Rizzo's is worth the wait. Thank you for an amazing meal!

Come here for the delicious thin crust, which is perfectly crispy on the outside and airy and pillowy on the inside. Sweet sauce. Just great pizza!

Greatest pizza in NY. After almost 20 years I finally was able to go back to Rizzo's and it was like a taste Time Machine. Great staff and very friendly.

Disappointing service. 4 people behind the counter and takes 10 minutes to take my order. This being 9 pm also.

I stopped by Rizzos today and they were offering the square slice for 62 cents. Yes, 62 cents including tax! I ordered 2 of them and the total was 1.24. This was a pleasant surprise since I usually pay at least 2.50 for a regular slice. But note that's this was a special for today, it's not something they offer on a regular basis. It was ok. Tasty but I wish it had more cheese. The dough was good. Staff is friendly and the place has many indoor seats.

If you're in the mood for pizza but don't want to load yourself up with carbs then this pizza place is for you. I was fortunate enough to try a few different slices and each one is unique in taste but all of them had one thing in common and that is their dough are super thin (and I mean THIN!!). This also include the crust as well. I also tried their pin wheel bitesize pizza (pepperoni and their spinach) and that was really good. I can see myself eating them for breakfast to be honest, esp with a cup of coffee on the side. Overall I like this place. With so much competition out there, their thin pizza slice does stand out so if you happen to be in the neighborhood and you're looking to cheat on your keto diet but don't want to feel too guilty about it, then this pizza joint is definitely one you should hit up.

The best Chicken parmesan The best I ever had. The customer service was the best. It was a change in Italian establishment. We had beautiful Mexican people serving us. I love it. The food was the greatest.

Rizzo's is an institution. I had my first experience when they had an Upper East Side location. Now that I am in Astoria, I can frequent the original location. The pizza has great tang and flavor, consistently so. My only complaint is that their pizza is too thin, but then again, if it was doughier, it wouldn't be Rizzo's. It's a necessary trade off.

I had a TGTG bag from here, and boy did they stack me up. They gave a range of white and red pizzas, and even 4 pinwheels. My favorites were the white/ricotta slice and the pepperoni cheese pinwheels (the slight spiciness was a nice touch). I would come back here for a full priced meal whenever I feel like pizza.

Pizza was $34 plus fees for a pile of crap! This picture was after my husband tried to save it. Never ordering from them again.

The food is consistently 5 Star. Their 12" pizza is cooked to perfection. The perfect thin crust, just the right amount of flexibility and crunch. Their sauce is phenomenal, thick enough to cling to the pizza, but not overwhelmingly thick that it takes away from the pie. Their garlicky knots are the best I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and get the angry knots. Soaked in hot sauce, the combination of that, the garlic and the knot with the right blend of crust and chew is worth trying at least once.

Overall, this was a good, thin crust pizza and I'm always appreciative of restaurants that offer vegan options. Rizzo's offers all of their pies with vegan cheese and that's awesome! Because the crust is so thin and they go fairly light on the cheese (both vegan and dairy), it was not very filling. It was all very tasty though, so I'd go back if I wanted to eat a somewhat lighter meal. Service was very friendly and the music was quite loud, so be prepared if dining in. Update: went back for the square pizza and really liked it! My friend and I did the deal for two square specialty pizzas for $26. I got the vegan primavera and she got something with meat. The crust is a lot thicker than the round and it was a lot more filling. We had plenty of leftovers!

Best pizza I tried so far in Astoria. I had 2 pepperoni rolls yesterday man...amazing 10/10 on flavor and freshness!

Love the original square slices. Staff is very friendly. The location is a good spot. Restaurant has a few tables in it. Love the old family photos on walls reminding us of its rich history. And I would say the prices are affordable shockingly lower then they should be. You definitely get your moneys worth.

Great pizza! And no, I'm not just saying that since my last name is Rizzo :) Love that they have a thinner crust and the toppings were extremely fresh. This place has the Rizzo stamp of approval!

Ordered a pepperoni, ricotta and mushroom cauliflower pizza which is something that isn't common in Pizzerias but when I received it, $27.50 later (not including tip and tax), it was more of a personal sized pie than I expected it to be, so it didn't fill my partner and I up. Flavor was good which is why I am giving it 3 stars but it's pretty expensive for the size. Just something to think about if you crave a healthier alternative.

Just flew into New York, it's my first time here so naturally I would need a good pizza. I have a dairy allergy, so I chose this restaurant because it had the option for vegan cheese which is pretty hard to find at pizza places. The restaurant was small with some quiet music playing over the speakers, not loud like a lot of restaurants are, perfect for conversation as my mom and I ate our pizza. The service was quick and the servers were friendly, and the pizza turned out so AMAZING!! I would definitely come here again.

Got a regular cheese slice and a slice with bbq chicken and onions. They currently have a special for the summer of 2019 - 60 cents square cheese slices. They're a bit tiny so I decided to go with the regular slice. They have a lunch special every day from 11-3 for different slice combos with pizza. They are a cash only establishment that is undergoing renovations. They also offer Italian ices. Onto the actual review, the crust was so thin on the regular cheese slice that as I was eating it it kinda just broke into two pieces. Instead of being able to fold my pizza and eat it, I had to pick it up from the tray. The chicken bbq pizza fared a better in terms of the crust but the bbq sauce was not spread out evenly. Guy at counter was super nice though.

Placed an order on Thanksgiving (I know, I know) through Grubhub, two and a half hours later had to cancel it due to unavailability to calls and the order still "being delivered". Just to make sure they were open went to their official website: not a single word of them being closed on this holiday. Very-very frustrating. It stings even more since we loved the place and ordered from them often.

I have been going here for many years, but I am glad that Rizzo's was able to weather the pandemic. As for my current rating, I would call Rizzo's mostly solid as far as pizzerias go. Both their normal and square slices are delicious and made with obviously high-quality ingredients, and they have some of my favorite garlic knots. The ultra-thin crust makes it practically melt in your mouth. While the prices are not pre-pandemic cheap, they are still fairly reasonable considering inflation. I'd have to say their recent pasta fare is not as tasty as the pizza. It's cool that they offer it but they are definitely still masters of one thing.

You get more than what you pay for here. Very good at an exceptional price for Astoria.

Good tasting pizza located on Steinway Street /30th Avenue. Not the best pizza or as great as the print media would make you think. Good nonetheless cause I could actually taste the ingredients. The lunch special I ordered was 2 pizza slices and a can of Coke for $8 . For some stupid reason I chose the buffalo chicken slice and my brother had a cheese slice. I regretted it and ordered a cheese slice expecting to pay full price with no problem. The counter person said you only have to pay a $1 more cause there is a 3 pizza slice deal for $9 and I already paid $8. The young lady appearing to be in her teens (JC) provided great service from the start. The pizza slices here are extremely small and thin. If you want pizza as a meal here I say no. As a snack or an appetizer I say yes.

I cannot rave enough about this place. It is small...and so are the slices...I get it...but well worth it. I've been going here for about 30 years and my Parents event longer. That says something. The popular slice is square, homemade sauce, thin, and one slice of cheese. Extremely delicious. Plus to boot they have RC cola on tap. If you're in the area grab 2-3 slices. You will not be disappointed.

My first plain slice at Rizzo's was like the most beautiful memory of my first frozen pizza as a kid. How simple and slight in looks but remarkable in a robust taste. An excellent value at lunch. $2 for your pick of any slice and a small soda! They're remodeling. It's still basically a small takeout place but now there's freshly painted white walls, wooden booths and white tile accents.

We ordered a square cheese pizza. it was a really nice pie. Sauce was good, not too sweet. We added basil pesto on one half, we should have done it on the whole pie! such a great flavor. Crust could be crispier. We all enjoyed lunch.

Hi David- your team did it again. Disappointing client service. I have ordered MANY times during Covid to support your business on your website. Today I ordered as usual on your website and received the delivery. The pizza was completely upside down and cheese was all off and cold. I called your store and Alex abruptly said there was nothing that could be done because I ordered on DoorDash. I've never ordered on DoorDash for your pizza. Infact I have been able to redeem points many times on your site why would I randomly order on DoorDash? I attached your email. told her I am staring at the Rizzo email confirmation of my order and I didn't order on DoorDash. She put me on hold twice and I overheard someone else say "we can send another but she has to pay." Again Alex says there is nothing I can do. After being so loyal to you guys and ALWAYS ordering from your website I can't believe how I was treated. This is the second time your team treats me horribly. Won't be ordering again.

I remember Rizzo's from my days at Most Precious Blood Catholic School in Astoria, Queens. Rizzo's is still here; located on Steinway in the of Astoria. Back in the day, Rizzo's had steep competition from Polito's Pizzeria, but today, Polito's is closed. Wonder what happened? At first glance, Rizzo's pizza looked sad, however the taste was surprisingly satisfying. The bite was crisp and light. The crust was one of the thinnest I've eaten in a while. Of course, PizzaChynch asked the ingredients...old medal all purpose flour, canola oil, yeast, salt and water. Specific questions asked: Do you use sugar? NO; Do you use semolina? NO Here's the PIZZACHYNCH SCOOP: Not a bad choice if you have a hankering but I wouldn't jump on MTA for it.

This is my childhood pizzeria and I still love coming here! This summer, they had such a great special, in which you could get 60 cent slices if you dined in house! I tried to go there as much as I could - because seriously - how can you beat that price?! If you come here, you're really lucky if you get a fresh pie straight from the oven. If you're just getting slices, be sure to ask for a corner! Plenty of sauce, and just enough cheese. Such a great slice!

Got my pizza and other last minutes assortments through TooGoodToGo. This is a great deal. My son loved the pizza and the bbq chicken pizza was great too even though I'm a plain slice kinda girl. Can't wait to try the chicken roll and the pinwheels.

I was shopping nearby & a dropped in for a grandma slice. The down low: the crust was hard & crunchy- not the way I like it. The sauce was good, in fact better than most pizza places. The cheese was ok at best. They had a nice display of zeppolis and I couldn't resist- but they looked better than they tasted. Nobody makes zeppolis like my Zia Sara. And if you tasted hers you would know what I mean! It's not a big place- the decor is simple- people clearly come for the food. The prices are reasonable, more so than other pizza places in the area.

Didn't get any dressing with the arugula salad and no blue cheese with wings either. When I called they kept me on the phone for ages while discussing then offered a refund for $1.00. Oh and the pizza wasn't cut. $50 is a lot to spend for screwing up literally everything in very basic ways. I have never complained about a restaurant like this before but I am kinda pissed!

Not good. Too bad really, as Rizzo's used to be great pizza. The last few I have had from there have been expensive, dry, much smaller, and very scant with toppings. So not worth the price any more.

Ordered a $28 pizza online. Site did not state the size of the pie, so I assumed it was a normal size. A personal pizza arrived. Called Rizzo's to confirm; $28 is the price of their personal pie. Robbery.

Rizzo's is a dream come true for a vegan gal like me, whose fondest childhood memories include going to the local old school pizzeria in Ozone Park with her grandparents. They now have vegan pizza! I don't think you can get it by the slice just yet (go on, create that demand, vegans), but I'm one of those people that never gets slices if I can help it. Yeah, yeah, I'm not a real New Yorker. Get over it. Nothing like a freshly made pie and if you don't agree, I can handle not having that in common with you. I didn't ask what kind of vegan cheese it is. It might be Daiya, since it has that stretch. I like Daiya, though it's one of those polarizing brands for vegans (and many people can't, uh, stomach it). Ask if it's a big issue. They are so nice in here! I also got mushrooms, black & green olives. It came smothered in toppings. Love love love! Truthfully, I about inhaled the thing, so the cheese is a bit of a distant memory. Oh wait, the memory I have is of burning the roof of my mouth on it. And yes, it was worth it. And yes, I kept going. Testament to the perfect pie. Rizzo's has been slinging pies for 60 years in a vibrant, ever-changing neighborhood of Astoria. There's something to be said for a place with a tried and true business model willing to do something a little different. I will forever be a Rizzo's fan now. On that note, I just can't quit you, Queens. I may not live here, but I was born here (Jamaica represent!) and there's something about being back in this area that cues the nostalgia so damn hard.

If you're interested in trying out one of the worst pizzerias in Astoria, this place is a must! Their pizza consists of bland dough, salty tomato sauce, and very little cheese that is mostly oily. Don't count on the workers being nice to you either, they'll most likely give you an attitude for no reason.

Vegan pizza was not very good. The crust was too hard and would kind of fall apart when you bit it.

Worst. Pizza. Ever. Please just keep walking if you're starving in Astoria. Anything would've been better than this. I wish we went to the grocery store for frozen pizza instead.

My daughter and I went for a walk and came across Rizzo's. We've heard good things about this place before so decided to grab a slice. I got the tomato mozzarella slice and a plain cheese. The crust is extremely thin and there wasn't much cheese on the slice. Sauce was good. Overall, our thoughts on the plain slice was - OK. The mozzarella and tomato was pretty good. My daughter also got a order of garlic knots which were ok. overall, I think this place was ok. Not some place I would go out of my way to get.
