Mindfully sourced burgers, creative toppings, gluten-free buns & shakes

"For bougie bites, I go here for a vegan burger that’s a saucy delight: few burgers in the Bay come standard with Umaro’s Berkeley-based seaweed bacon and Violife’s dairy-free cheddar. Marin County–raised Joshua Spiegelman’s upscale fast-food spot also turns out one of the most impressive homemade patties I’ve had, comprised of quinoa, black beans, brown rice, and dates (among other things), which makes it a high scorer in my book. At $15 it isn’t much pricier than the competition, and the veggie patty can even be subbed into other sandwiches — a rarity." - Paolo Bicchieri
"This upscale and expanding burger mini-chain, complete with three kinds of fries known by their adorably-cute name the fry-fecta, is more and more a plant eater’s delight. The vegan burger is stuffed with Violife’s dairy-free cheddar, Umaro’s salty, crispy “bacon,” and an in-house vegan patty of quinoa, black beans, brown rice, and dates." - Paolo Bicchieri

"When you need a big, fast food-style burger before a show at The Fillmore, head to Roam Artisan Burgers. Our favorite is the French and Fries burger that has truffle fries and avocado directly on the burger, but if you want to share your sides, you can order the Fry-fecta with french fries, sweet potato fries, and the zucchini onion haystack all together. Take this down with some wine or one of the beers they have on tap, and make your way to the show." - will kamensky
"Burgers can be healthy when they’re the organic, grass-fed, free-range ones at Roam. Probably. Choose from whole grain, gluten-free, and lettuce wrap buns - or, if you’re feeling extra virtuous, get the salad with mini burger patties on top, which is both entertaining and tasty. Add some of the awesome sweet potato fries, too. You’re eating a burger anyway. But if you want to make an even better effort, they have a solid veggie burger too." - taylor abrams, will kamensky
"Roam has all of the things you love about a fast food burger, but without the pigeon talons and ground up Beanie Babies. All the meat they use is grass-fed, free range, and probably sent to hospice care in Malibu before ending up at Roam and you can taste it. The bison burger is worth a try and the milkshakes are absurdly good. Plus, getting it delivered means you can skip the scene and a half that usually goes down here." - nic strain 2
