The Best Wineries with Food in Napa Valley | Eater SF

"Fans of Mondavi Winery have a bit to wait until the revamp of its tasting room is complete, but the winery moved into (temporary) new digs in downtown Napa as Arch & Tower, with views of the Napa River and the Third Street bridge. There’s a new bites menu from Mondavi culinary director Jeff Mosher, who consulted with accomplished, James Beard Award-winning chef Chris Shepherd, but hungrier and more spendthrift folks can splurge on the Legend Lunch ($165), which comes with a wine tasting and three paired food courses that change with the season and is made from locally-sourced produce." - Dianne de Guzman

Meet Geneviève Janssens, Robert Mondavi’s Director of Winemaking

"Geneviève Janssens visited the Robert Mondavi Winery, which was well known in France for Mondavi’s innovation. She was so drawn to the philosophies of Mondavi that she moved to Napa Valley in 1978, where she worked as an enologist. In 1997, she became director of winemaking at Robert Mondavi." - Erin Brooks

Our Legend Lunch was excellent, and exceeded our expectations. Great hospitality immediately upon our arrival. Excellent food quality and presentation on all 3 courses, with perfect reserve wine pairings. Our hostess completed the experience and made sure that the visit exceeded our expectations.

Stopped in on our first day in Napa unexpectedly. Did not do a tasting but enjoyed a bottle of wine with our friends. Ordered some food as well. Very nice visit, great location in Downtown Napa (their winery is currently closed to visitors while they renovate). Service was great as well.

The upstairs is beautiful! Our wine tasting was personalized and our host was amazing! Wine is great. Highly recommend a booking here while you’re in Napa.

We really liked the legend lunch. The dessert coconut tapioca was amazing!!! Loved the wines and paired so well. Staff was very friendly. The only negative was that we started later and then had to be relocated inside due to weather so our reservation ran late and we felt rushed trying to get out in time for another tasting. Would like to try this again when they are done with the winery renovations and without being rushed.

We loved our experience here, especially tapas menu offered with the tasting. Peach toast was a hit and so were the warm olives. Seems like a simple dish but it paired well with wine.

Walked in to check out flight info and prices. Greeted by Nancy who poured a nice glass of Sauvignon blanc. We decided on the reserve tasting with Mary. She was very informative, great pours and very personable! The wines were fab! Will definitely be back and definitely recommend!!

My cousin and I had a wonderful experience at Robert Mondavi Arch and Tower yesterday mid-afternoon. We bought the mid-price experience and were treated exceptionally by the staff. I made a special request of asking them to charge my phone and the staff accommodated me when they didn't have to, and they truly helped me in a pinch. We ordered the peach and cheese toast and it was delectable and wonderfully paired with the wine tasting. Thank you for the wonderful experience, all staff, working at Arch and Tower yesterday mid-afternoon.

The reviews and food on here looked good so we decided to check it out past weekend during BottleRock on a Sunday morning and the hostess with dark hair was not pleasant..she acted as if they were too busy because they had a party going on meanwhile plenty of empty tables chairs at ground level. A nicer older lady came out greeted us and told us they did have tastings available in which the younger original hostess says oh well do we have a server . What kind of attitude is that? She didn’t look like she enjoyed her job. After our tasting, we see the same hostess in the bathroom and she just stares at us saying that’s for the private party. Luckily our servers were extra friendly and attentive which made up for the bad hostess experience .

Yelp
Such a beautiful experience on a beautiful Saturday in Napa. It was my first time to Robert Mondavi and I was impressed! It's right at the end of Downtown Napa and a little walk away from the busy streets. They don't have a parking lot so you will need to walk a few blocks after parking in the streets nearby. The space is gorgeous. There are two floors and a lovely patio. We were able to sit our group of 9 on the patio. There's a great view of the Napa River, bridge and downtown. We ordered 2 of everything on their menu and it was all delicious! The Brussel sprouts were my favorite and the fries were a hit. The tasting experience was fantastic, as well. We were welcomed with a Sparking that was sweet and refreshing - it was all of our favorites. There were 5 other wines - 2 whites and 3 reds. They also served aged Parmesan cheese from Italy with an aged balsamic vinegar that was to-die-for. Unfortunately, they do not sell the balsamic vinegar but apparently you can order it from Amazon. LOL I also noticed that the tasting menu had a little "Happy Birthday Kasondra" printed on the bottom for our birthday girl! This was such a nice touch. Our server was very knowledgeable and super accommodating. He fulfilled all of our requests. We really enjoyed our relaxing tasting and I can't wait to be back!

Yelp
Our first time at Arch & Tower and full disclosure we booked the "Schrader experience " which included a private tasting of current and library releases of Schrader, along with fine other To Kalon collective wines. The price of the tasting is $225 per person plus tax and service fees. Located inside the newly renovated Arch & Tower at the historic Borreo building in downtown Napa which took over the previous brewery, the renovation is beautiful, overlooking the Napa river where you can see folks on paddle board and other activities. The view is absolutely beautiful from the tasting room. The pours for the Schrader experience is very generous, and we were offered to try other To Kalon Collective wines. Our guide is OK. Experience is OK. The wine speaks for itself though.

Yelp
One of my closest friends and I went to Napa Valley in July 2023. One of the wineries that we visited was Robert Mondavi Winery (old location). According to their website, Robert Mondavi was established in 1966, with over 50 years leading California's wine industry, home to "To Kalon Vineyard" (rated #1 in North America and #7 in the World). Robert Mondavi is known for Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and the signature Fume Blanc. When we visited in July 2023, we did a wine tasting and got to sit outside. It was my first time trying Fume Blanc - definitely memorable. I also really liked all of their other tasters (Pinot Noir, Red Blend, and Cabernet Sauvignon). Service was great. Our waitress definitely knew her wines and which cheese paired best with which wine. Definitely worth a trip! I would like to go back and see their new location! Yelp
My experience at Robert Mondavi Winery was an absolute delight! This was my first visit to this location, having previously enjoyed their other winery before it sadly closed. Whether at the inviting tasting room or the picturesque vineyard, the exceptional service truly stands out. I chose this wonderful winery for my husband's birthday celebration, and it exceeded all expectations. I enjoyed my time here so much that I am seriously considering becoming a member of their exclusive wine club. A fantastic experience that left me wanting more!

Yelp
Arch & Tower is a new concept for Robert Mondavi, offering a high end tasting experience. Each table is assigned a sommelier to describe the wines and how to fully appreciate them. Marlon, our sommelier, was terrific. No judgement regarding one's knowledge of wine. One shouldn't expect to "love" each wine, but at least leave with an appreciation of the different varietals. Of our 4 tastings, the Pinot noir was the unanimous winner. Of course, if you like any of the wine new you taste, you're welcome to purchase bottles. As this was our 3rd tasting of the day, we were getting a little buzzed, so we ordered some food. We had a large order of some of the best waffle fries you'll ever eat. And a plate of roasted olives. An enjoyable hour or two. But some street signage would be helpful. If you don't know the label for Robert Mondavi, you could spend quite a while looking for the tasting room. One last thought. Make a reservation.

Yelp
Located near downtown, parking is a bit difficult to find. Checked in fairly early but they were able to accommodate us. While we waited, they gave us sparkling wine. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The ambiance is quite relaxing and serenading. We were provided a small chunk of Parmesan cheese with aged balsamic vinegar to help get our palate going. Overall, a great experience here at Robert Mondavi Arch and Tower. Looking forward to coming back here and checking out their winery when they reopen from renovations.

Yelp
Got the pickle! We stopped here for our first stop before a show, but unfortunately they were closed for a private event! No fear, the hostess accommodated us with a glass of wine and made us feel right at home! We will be back! Highly recommended.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the wines and the sommelier was knowledgeable. However, he was so pushy for us to get the membership. It is the only negative thing but it really changed our experience. Still giving it a decent review because of the quality of the wine. That said, it's the only winery where we felt pressured into a membership and that should not be the case.
