The Best Onion Burgers in Oklahoma City and El Reno | Eater

"An almost-century-old institution (open since 1926) that survived the Dust Bowl and Depression, this tiny, soot-stained space delivers a compact but classic onion burger: smaller in size but perfectly griddled with an ideal onion-to-meat ratio, evoking a sense of history as much as an expertly executed, caramelized-onion patty." - Amy McCarthy

The Best Onion Burgers in Oklahoma City and El Reno - Eater

"The oldest burger joint in El Reno, and maybe in the whole state, Robert’s Grill has been continually slinging onion burgers since 1926. It’s a simple, tiny space, with barely enough room for a few tables." - Amy McCarthy

Spent a night of a multi-day road trip in El Reno to randomly discover that El Reno was the birthplace of the Oklahoma Onion Smash burger. So to stop in this town and have it be the birthplace of my favorite burger was pretty neat! Knowing what I know about El Reno now, I would have planned more time in El Reno! Robert’s from the outside looks like tiny a hole in the wall kind of place, along Route 66. Reading a little bit turns out they are the oldest still operating Oklahoma Onion Smash burger place around so a true American Icon at that! The burger I was served was under seasoned (I didn’t see anything go on to my burger, or any cooked after mine) I’m sure just a little salt would have made this burger truly delicious. The Fries were also unseasoned but since they were fresh out of the oil that problem was easily solved, and they were great! Overall, Robert’s was not my Favorite burger I had while I was in El Reno, but worth a visit anyway! To be able to eat at the Oldest Running Oklahoma Smash burger joint was well worth my visit! I would probably go back here if I was in town anyway!

Google
If you want the true Rt 66, Oklahoma Onion Burger experience- this is the place you need to visit first in El Reno. Absolutely perfect grilled onions and beef. Nearby places are fun, but this one is authentic!! I can also say the chili dog is the best I ever had with an amazing slaw.

Google
I cannot remember the first time I came to Robert’s. It has been a family staple since before I was born. Mom would tell stories about getting a cheeseburger on her lunch break as a high school student. I have chased the taste of this fried onion cheeseburger for over 20 years and have never had anything that even comes close. Go try a Robert’s fried onion cheeseburger today! If I lived locally, I’d be a daily customer. Thanks for feeding our bellies and hearts, Ed!

Google
Had this on our must-see list during a Route 66 road trip from Amarillo to Tulsa. This 99-year-old joint is allegedly where Oklahoma onion burgers were invented. As soon as you were within 50 feet of the place you could smell the cooking onions! It's a tiny place with about a dozen or so stools at a counter overlooking the ancient grill where the burgers were cooked. They are delicious and inexpensive and the staff was speedy and friendly. They offered up a sample of the cole slaw and sauce that they serve with their hot dogs while we were waiting. It was everything we hoped it would be. Don't be put off by the dingy exterior. This is a great lunch and a sample of the good old days when Route 66 was booming!

Google
A must stop for any Route 66 traveller! Their onion burger is so delicious that I've ordered a second one just after finishing the first! If I were living in Oklahoma I would eat at Robert's every day! Thank you from Italy

Google
A local and authentic place. The burger was classic and exactly what was expected, great service and felt like a place locals would visit regularly and therefore not a tourist trap or Instagram frenzy. My regret was not also having the hotdog.

Google
So impressed…if you are looking for a “old school throwback” hamburger diner, this is it. 3 very young men behind the counter, very friendly. I was immediately asked if I had been there before, I hadn’t, and was told that the chili and coleslaw were particularly good. As I was trying to decide what to order, he served me a “sample” of the chili and coleslaw (who does that anymore ?). Both were very good, I even bought a cup of chili to go. The place is counter only, about 14-15 stools. Very old flat top griddle, and shows plenty of use. I asked for crispy fries and shown the fry basket, for my approval, before serving the fries. The cheeseburger was very good, onion smash burger style. If you are looking for “down home”, this is it. Recommended.

Google
The best burger on this planet, hands down. No frills, no nonsense, pure burger history on your plate going for 99 years now. Get the fries. Get the coney. Tell Ed Extreme Tornado Tours sent you.

Yelp
Being in the area for work, I decided to try the Oklahoma onion burger. The place is very small, but has counter seats that faced directly at the grill. You can watch your burger constructed right in front of you. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, the place while not much to look at outside, is very clean and inviting on the inside. I absolutely love, onions and hamburger, so this was the perfect combination. There's a reason why this place has been open since 1926. And if they keep doing as well as they did today, they'll be here in 2126.

James B.

Yelp
Awesome little place! Grabbed a seat on sole stools at the counter and watched our onion burgers made in front of our eyes. Nice and crispy onions and meat. Also had a side of fries and tots which were fried up to order. This place is still around for a reason, classic!
google avatar

Yelp
The burgers are really really good. Crispy onions, juicy burger patty, soft delicious bun, all made fresh to order. The French fries are crispy and delicious. The service is A+, the waitress even offered a tasting of their chili. The ambiance has a small diner feel, the type of diner that makes you feel at home. Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Good food good prices! I have eaten here alot and always enjoy. Get the onion burger and coney and fries. Good breakfast also. Giddy up!

Yelp
Small, but don't let that stop you from experiencing the birthplace of the onion fried burger. In business since 1926, the burgers are cooked the original way. The buns soak up all those wonderful flavors. It has my vote as the best burger of the big three.

Yelp
We came for onion burgers and fries. We were not disappointed. Robert's has been here in this tiny Shack for years! The food never disappoints. I had the pleasure of watching while they cooked. One girl cooked the burgers, and the other girl did fries and sacking. There was a guy there, but since I was the only customer, he was on standby. Great service! The place looks just like I remember it 35 years ago. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Charming hole-in-the-wall ambiance. There are a few other things on the menu, but it's a very limited menu. I'll be back soon for more greasy goodness! The burgers were cooked to perfection, the fries were so greasy they had to be wrapped to save the bag. We WANT it that way. We're not here for prissy food, we want heart attack-inducing flavor and fat. Thank you!

Yelp
I think Robert's is the legendary O.G. (original grill) of Oklahoma Onion Burgers. My wife and I had already eaten lunch an hour before, but I don't get to ElReno that often. We split a bacon cheeseburger and fries. We were very satisfied! Service was friendly and reasonably quick for cooked from scratch. Eclectic clientele streaming through. From suits to boots and from trucks to scooters. Americana deluxe!

Yelp
This place is a classic! The fried onion burger was sooo fresh and tasted amazing. Try the chili cheese fries or tots, the chili is amazing. There are not many seats but it's worth the wait. The service was quick and friendly. We love this place!
google avatar

Yelp
Had to go here for its history during my visit to OK as it's one of the classics and the onion burgers are so fantastic. Smaller but better tasting. Great charr on the onions and perfectly melty cheese. Super small inside but there was never a long wait time and the service was fast.

Yelp
Stopped here when Sid's was closed. Listen it was just okay! I didn't feel like their beef had much flavor. Not enough onions. Fries were good. Hotdog was good with their "relish"! Best thing was the relish! If Sid's is open go there! I did NOT like the way they just touched the raw meat and then didn't wash their hands! Just cross contamination going on like crazy! Gross !! I mean really did these kids get NO training! And I am not exaggerating when I say kids... the young lady was 21 , the young guy was in high school and then there was a 10 year old working dishes and drinks! Seriously, Weber is the owner? PLEASE train these young people about proper food handling!!!

Owen A.

Yelp
Best onion burger out there. 5/5 got the double smash with tons of razor thin onions. Something about the friendly and funny attitude of the guy running the place. Grime grit and fun attitude with phenomenal food and fries

Aj L.

Yelp
This is a delicious onion burger, but also quite an experience. Clearly frequented by the locals, this tiny diner will forever be one of my favorite travel finds. Don't expect the service to be quick. They are small and swamped with customers. What you should expect is a flavorful burger with just the right amount of onions. Next time, we will wait for a seat at the counter rather than taking it to go. But, there will absolutely be a next time!

Yelp
I love eating here been eating here since I was 7 years old and now am almost 40 years old they very nice people work there ed is the owner there he works there too

Audra L. C.

Yelp
The French fries. I am 50 years old and I still love their fries. In a basket well done with tons of ketchup and s&p! This place is still an Original Onion Fried Burger Place, untouched by modern upgrades and fancy things. For that reason alone I love it! El Reno raised, I am. The Owners are too.

Yelp
If you like onion burgers this is the place to go. My wife had onion burger and loved it. I don't like cooked onions but found there burger excellent with raw onions.

Yelp
Great service. I like to come anytime I can. The burgers are amazing. Great food for a good price. 10/10 would eat again.

Yelp
Onion burger was WOW, delicious. Served hot off the well-seasoned grill, begins as a bare-handed grab of beef, smashed flat with a spatula then topped with a mountain of grilled onions. Less charred or burnt blackness than Sid's, more juicy, melt-in-your-mouth, buttery, greasy spoon goodness. I keep it simple, double meat and cheese, just add pickles, mustard, maybe some mayo. Coneys here are just as good. Robert's has the best hot dog slaw in town. Yes, even better than the "slaw" they brag about up the road. A true slaw slaw here, while Sid's is really a sweet relish. Chili also homemade and very tasty. Fries long and thin, cooked till golden, like old school McDonald's. Opened in the 1920's but lacking any period charms (go to Sid's for that). Counter only dining makes for fast friends. Lack of space makes it difficult for groups. Service is pretty darn decent considering it's just a couple of teenagers running the place. Robert's is more of a locals joint than their touristy competitor. Has better prices too. Only one issue here and it's a doozy...Bring your hand sanitizer, because this place is not for the squeamish. Part dive, part dirt farm, part junkyark. They could definitely take better care of the place. I could elaborate but I won't. I'll leave that up to your vivid imaginations. My 4 stars for the food alone, because I'm mentally blocking out the rest.

Yelp
Great burgers, great staff, great service. Tip: get the double onion cheeseburger with extra cheese. Also go for the fries with the signature chili. Worth a visit.

Yelp
Off highway 40 El Reno, OK. At-home old-fashion, historic feeling, very quaint and laid back. Cooked right in front of you, enjoy a double"smash" onion burger and chili cheese fries while watching the game. 5 stars !!

Yelp
Best in El Reno for sure. Fries are awesome. Service great and friendly. Burgers the best.

Yelp
Sids, Robert's and Johnnies were listed as the Big 3 in El Reno when I Googled the famous regional Fried Onion Burger. I had looked forward to any opportunity to go there and today, a Sunday, was the day. Sids, a snappy looking place with the highest rated burger, was closed. Robert's Grill, rated second, was supposedly open to 9 pm and we were running late so we went on to Robert's and went right in. In retrospect, now here on Yelp, I notice that there are very few recent reviews for Robert's and except for one 10 months ago; I don't see that they reflect our experience today. Robert's Grill appears to be resting on past laurels for his Fried Onion Burger. First, it was hard to get past the flies both living and dead. They were everywhere and lay dead on the windowsills and anywhere not recently cleaned. Not much looked recently cleaned either. It was 6:55 pm and they were closing in 5 minutes because it was Sunday, he told us; not at 9; but he really wanted to serve us even though we said we would "go to the other place." So we stayed. Then came a deluge of last minute customers. So second, this very sweet young man with only his subteen assistant tried to wrap things up for the day ASAP for multiple orders as the phone rang and he needed more food items and chaos ensued. Us, seeing a greasy counter, dirty floor, flies everywhere, got more agitated and so of course I made the mistake of going to this closet bathroom which turns out to be well, just repulsive. Third, even though my basic criteria are soap, paper towel and toilet paper; this is like an employees bathroom at an auto mechanic shop. Black. Wet. Ugh. End of saga, we got our order to go and left the small building with it's dirty outside walls, one bare bones picnic table on bare earth with a view of the dumpster and tried to find someplace to eat our burgers and tater tots. The unevenly cooked burgers with unevenly cut and cooked onions and smashed bun tops were just "okay" and the tater tots were overcooked and dry. The nice young man really had done what he could with very little help. The one patty Fried Onion Burgers were $3 and the tater tots $3. We had to ask for drink lids, ketchup (which he squirted in a cup), salt & pepper, and napkins. I wouldn't go back there. I wouldn't recommend you go there. Robert's Grill needs to clean and paint and do something to keep out the flies and get the nice young man some adequate help.

Yelp
One of the problems with being a "legend" and lasting 50 or more years, is......you've lasted 50 or more years, and you're damned tired, it's easy to rest on your reputation, and who can blame you for wanting to squeeze a few more bucks out of your place for your golden years? But I do like it when there are "two legends", across town, or down the street, and locals are passionate about one or the other being the best. Such is the case in my home town with "Deluxe Coney Island", and "Original Coney Island." (No question, Deluxe rules!). Such is the case in El Reno, OK, the "birthplace of the onion burger." In fact, if you find yourself on Route 66, in the spring of any year, El Reno is the place to be in May for Fried Onion Burger Day. I swear. A giant onion burger is cooked and served up to the curious, tourists, and locals alike. So what is a fried onion burger? Well, at Robert's Grill, around since before grills were invented, the cook takes a handful of fresh ground beef, slaps it on the flattop, and smashes is once with a spatula. Sprinkle a mess or raw white onions on top, and smash the crap out of it, so it's a thin patty, awash with onions, sizzling at a hot enough temp, that the edges are going to get crispy. And I like that. Let it cook for quite awhile, or at least until the blood is coming thru the top. Flip it once, so the onions are 'neath it, and place the bun on top to warm. Flip again, slab o'cheese=food. Counterman turns, asks "mayo or mustard." "Mustard," sez I." "Pickle?" sez he. "Aye" sez I. I splurged and ordered a side of tots. I paid ("make it an even $5," sez he,) and retired to my usual preferred dining spot on these outings, the trunk of my car. Small problem. Oklahoma, OK or not, has a serious fly problem. Has anyone pointed this out? There are hordes of flies everywhere I stopped (no, they were not following me), so al fresco dining (who's he?) was out of the question for the Robert's parking lot. I would have sped out of town, but I was on "E", so I packed my hamburg sandwich and tots and moved a block away to the gas station, planning to dine and gas, but the card readers on the pumps were taped over, so I had to go into the station twice. Gassed, but not yet gassy, I drove across the street to the parking lot of Johnnie's, another place in El Reno that was built by the Egyptians, after the finished the pyramids. I intended to do a side-by-side comparison, but after polishing off the Robert's onion burger, which pretty much tasted like a giant White Castle, but grilled, instead of steamed. I will admit tho, for being grocery store beef and buns, I did like Robert's version of the o-burger. Walking into Johnnie's, the only midday customer, I spied the menu board and out slipped, "two coneys to go, please." My eyes wandered right. $6.50 for two? WTF? Are you making the weenies here? They were ready in a sec, of course, the chili was meaty and sweet, like a bbq sauce, and the tiny diced onions were awash in a mustard/vinegar concoction. It was a sweet and sour dog, and I quickly soured on it. I thought that maybe the frank itself would have given the sandwiches some redemption, but scraping off the good, picking out the dog, and taking a bite, revealed nothing more than a standard 10/lb, "mixed meat" hot dog. Could have even been a poultry one. No knack, no flavor. The upside was I was happy I didn't order the burger, which no doubt would have been a frozen puck from Sam's Club. Oh, I know. I didn't hit the "popular place", but then I rarely do.

Yelp
Gotta try the chili! Friendly people, delicious food. Best onion burger in town. Not a lot of room but they do to go orders, too.
google avatar

Yelp
The BEST onion burgers in town. We have tried the rest, And I'm sorry nothing beats a burger from Roberts grill. These guys are down to earth no gimmicks and they are affordable.

Yelp
Amazing service, delicious food. They servers are very sweet and funny. They are always asking if you are okay. It's AMAZING I wish I could give 100 stars.

Yelp
I heard about the famous grilled onions burger in El Reno so stopped by this diner. It is counter top and very casual. And, the Burgers are amazing! Freshly prepared and grilled in front of you. The fries are hot and crispy. And the price is Super Reasonable and worth every penny! Plus, the owner and grill master run the front and the back. Friendly, down home customer service. A definite Must Try!!
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
Heart attacks on plates? Yup. Would never say otherwise. Really tasty French fries (NOT frozen and taken out of a bag, mind you) and delicious, greasy onion burgers. (Hey, what's not to summon forth your inner, lonely fat chick? I mean, come on, you're NOT here to munch on wakame and drink electrolyte-infused spring water from Belgium, sweet cheeks.) Good stuff for what it is. VERY good stuff. Now, it's not the cleanest place in the Western Hemisphere, granted. (But hey, you have a pretty good immune system, don't you?) Credit cards accepted -- a welcome change in a world of Mom & Pop burger joints that take cash only.

Betsy M.

Yelp
Food was good! Just had an onion burger, since we enjoy trying local tastes. But the service was pretty much the worst I've had in my memory. There's only about 10 seats at the counter. We sat in the middle two. There were 5 other people, of which two left about when we arrived, two were eating, and one was ordering. It was several minutes after taking the one gentleman's order, before our presence was acknowledged by either of the two non-cooking people behind the counter. Asked if we wanted something to drink and got that for us. After packaging a few burgers that were cooking, she finally asked what we wanted. After placing our food in front of us, she didn't acknowledge us again. When we finished I had cash in my hand and was just trying to make eye contact to ask how much we owed. I was ignored. The second person was in and out, took money from a customer finished before us (right next to us), and we had to get her attention to figure out our total and pay. In summary: order take out because it has good food but poor service.
google avatar

Richard C.

Yelp
One of the best onion burgers anywhere- restaurant is very small, so wait if you have to- the service is spot on and I highly recommend the fries.
google avatar

Maggie F.

Yelp
Yum! Robert's definitely lived up to the El Reno onion burger hype. The onion burgers are of course delicious, but you have to get something with the chili. The cook brought us some chili and sauerkraut to taste when we sat down, which is what they put on the coneys. It was soooo good. I debated getting a fried onion cheeseburger and a coney, but settled for a fried onion cheeseburger and chili cheese fries. The fries had old school Kraft singles as the cheese, and then that amazing chili on top. So. Good. I hate seeing one star reviews for the atmosphere alone, saying there is no "diner charm" to this place. Yes, it's small. Yes, it's smoky. Yes, it's dirty. It's an old school, hole-in-the-wall diner, not a restaurant decorated to look like a "cute" diner from the 1920s. From the looks of it, it hasn't been updated since it opened in 1926, and I find that awesome. The cooks were super friendly and shared some good tidbits with us about people from all over the world who come in for fried onion burgers. I'm sure we smelled like smoke and onions leaving this place, but isn't that part of the fun?
google avatar

Jonah O.

Yelp
It's been around since the 1920's. I had to try it out, so I went for breakfast. It was not what my mind's eye had envisioned. The place is very small, no classic 1920's charm and all the character of a hole-in-the-wall dive kind of place. No breakfast menu to be found. You have to just tell the cook what you want, then he tells you how much... and no bill given at the end. That was a fun different kind of experience for me. Average breakfast and good coffee.
google avatar

Eric H.

Yelp
Been here a few times trying to give it a chance. Find it always dirty and lacking a inviting atmosphere. Food is ok.

Yelp
So, when you have an opportunity to try a place where onion burgers originated, how can there be anything to complain about? This is absolutely nothing fancy about Robert's. This is a you get what you get and you don't throw a fit type of place. The bar stools are probably 20 years old and the bathroom is cramped as all get out, but they grill up a damn good burger. I prefer onion burgers in general and it was great here! Very reasonable prices as well and I was happy to see they take credit cards! Sometimes I worry that small town places like this are cash only, but it is 2015 after all. I also shared an order of chili cheese tots with my boyfriend and it was plenty for the both of us. They don't skimp on the grease here though so just be warned. It was so neat to talk to the employees and hear how Robert's gets visitors from around the globe. It's not picture perfect, but I guarantee you'll be satisfied with these burgers.

Yelp
Came in 2-17-22 around 8:25 ish give or take to be exact, completely ignored and walked past by the 2 working, rang the doorbell about 6 times and knocked about 4 after I waited patiently for about 20 minutes finally around 8:50 I decided to just leave and take my business elsewhere indefinitely because I guess the new 9 o clock is 8:20 because they just didn't seem to want anything to do with me that's fine though me either good luck with your business bein ran half ass
google avatar

Chad A.

Yelp
Great burger. Sloppy as hell and I ordered the grilled onions. This place is nothing fancy and has that old school diner feel. Price is right and they have a few different options. People were friendly and I just liked the whole in the wall feel.
google avatar

Brenna B.

Yelp
About to dive into this little dive in diner!!! So delicious!! I love little places like this I will definitely be back. Everyone is so nice I've and home grown and just a small town family.
google avatar

Jason K.

Yelp
This is a small place with perhaps a dozen counter seats ran by the owner with a grill man and backroom helper. The owner was friendly and asked for my drink as I sat down. I ordered a cheeseburger with grilled onions and chili cheese fries. The fries came 1st and the chili was pretty good. They use slices of American cheese instead of shredded, which was surprisingly tasty in combination with chili and fries. Definitely need a fork. The burger came off the flat top grill a few minutes later as I was about half way through the fries. I finished the fries and then began to pick at the burger, a flattened beef with piles of grilled onions. It was still quite hot and continued to pick until just cool enough to eat. I slowly finished it off, while watching the game and drinking unsweet ice tea. Total cost $9.95. Easy to get to off I-40 Or Route 66. Definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
Robert's is without doubt the best burger joint in El Reno. I would eat there every day if I could.
google avatar

Garen M.

Yelp
I usually eat at Sid's but they had a line out the door. Johnnies was about the same on this Saturday noon. I've never tried Robert's before so Mrs. Eva and I went to Roberts. The burger was good and the fries were excellent, but this place is pretty dumpy, stinky, and filthy dirty. The grille is bent in the middle and almost to fall off the wall. The prep area was loaded with junk and tidbits of food. Poor cleaning of the counter was the norm and I had to keep my balance on the loose and worn out seat. When the teenage cooks made hot dogs, they used their fingers to handle the dogs, then took money, cleaned the counter, then made more dogs - all without washing hands. We were grossed out and will not return.
google avatar

Brian V.

Yelp
Real Food by Real People. If you want authentic Onion Burgers and awesome fries, Stop in and Dine. If you are grossed out by nasty bathrooms, go wee wee before you go eat here. Bathroom is gnarly. We had Onion Burgers, the kid had a chili cheese dog. Affordable, fast, and fantastic. Fresh Burger not frozen. Fries remind me of Fries back before Mc Donald's ruined everything on their menu.

Don S.

Yelp
Like traveling back in time on Historic Rt 66 in El Reno, which is home of the onion burger. Roberts, in same location since 1926, takes a backseat to nobody. Maybe not the fanciest, but definitely has charm and most importantly delicious onion burgers and fries at better than fast food prices. Friendly local staff. Definitely worth a stop!
google avatar

Mikel M.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing onion burger. I found the taste was incredible. A tad greasy but it's what I expected. The decor of the place was why I didn't rate it 5 star. Water on the floor of the place, toilet clogged and no light on the bathroom. Also probably 30 flies flying around. For a one time stop driving through it was so worth it. Overall A-

Yelp
Ventured out to El Reno with some friends to try this little hole-in-the-wall diner. Now the particulars... Yes, the place doesn't look like Mickey Mantle's, but honestly...what do you expect a diner to look like that is located in a small town in western Oklahoma? It's not in the best shape and really shows its years, but I wasn't really bothered by that. If I'm driving to El Reno for food, I care about the food, not how old the building is. I had bites of the chili cheese tater tots and french fries as well as a sampling of their slaw...which was freaking AMAZING. I ended up putting some on my onion burger. Yea...their slaw is next level. Their onion burger was fantastic. It had that signature greasiness that you expect a diner burger to have and it had the right amount of onions on it. Also, it wasn't too big. I was able to eat all of it and eat a good amount of the sides. The staff were very friendly and had our food cooked up pretty quick. All in all, I had an excellent time at Robert's. I wouldn't hesitate to visit again!

Words cannot express the deliciousness. But I'll give it a try anyway. It's right off historic Route 66, it has 14 bar seats wrapped around the single grille area. Cash only, locals only. The menu is sparse, but everything is perfect. The french fries are pulled right out of the fryer, drained, salted and handed to you. Piping hot! No heat lamps here. When you order your onion burger, Ed (not Robert) starts grilling the onions first and then starts smashing them right into the burger as it's cooking. We also had a chili dog with cole slaw on the side, not on top like it's usually served. Fresh bun, spicy chili, perfectly cooked hot dog with the right amount of crispness to the skin. The slaw was a little sweeter then it looked. There are 2 other onion burger places around the corner. I asked my dad why he didn't go to the others. ( he comes to Roberts 2 or 3 times a week) He took a bite of his burger and said "why bother, nothing else can be this good?" Enough said. I mentioned that it is locals only and they don't seem to happy when a group of 7 strangers walks in. Especially when they have a 3 year old. But my dad filled us in. Walk in, get a stool right away. If they are all full, stand behind and wait your turn. Don't speak until spoken to! I mentioned in the survery that it was children friendly. That's only if your child is perfect like mine :) Basically she said on my lap the whole time, colored and ate french fries and didn't talk. She was as happy as the rest of us. We also went for breakfast. Hot fresh eggs, bacon, sausage and hashbrowns cooked righ in front of you and handed right to you. Really good, really greasy. Ed actually pours something onto the hashbrowns as he's cooking and flipping them. Oil, Crisco, bacon grease? I don't know or care because they were delicious. We'll be back next summer!

Yelp
This is a great lunch spot for burgers and Robert's onion burger is top notch. Robert knows the town of El Reno and can tell you all about it. Don't forget to try his original recipe of slaw on your burger or hot dog or by its led out of the bowl!

Yelp
Ok, the grill has 14 seats at the counter and serves super onion burgers. The only reason to go here is to eat. In fact the best in El Reno on Sunday afternoon! Very friendly people serving and eating, and with good prices. It is a dive not a fast food chain.

Yelp
Everyone has their favorite onion burger place in El Reno. I personally like all three. They each have their pros and cons. I like Roberts as the owner remembered me after only two visits. He even remembered my order and asked me if I would have the usual. This makes me feel like a valued customer. The food is always good and the atmosphere is always "cozy." There are only about a dozen seats so you are forced to get to know your fellow diners. It makes for a great time as everyone is so friendly. Almost like eating with family. Ed, you are the best!!!
