The boy and I ran 2,100 stairs this morning - motivated largely by a Chicago deep dish waiting for us at the end of that workout. We split a small (9") "heart attack" ($24) which comes with sausage, pepperoni, prosciutto, roast beef, and extra cheese... yes, a fitting title! It comes precut into 6 slices. We each managed two and hit the take-home button on our 3rd. The toppings are generous, the sauce is so fresh and savory, with very noticeable herbs and spices, and the crust is amazing. Pizzas take about 30 minutes to make/bake. Ambiance is incredibly soothing - with a mix of dark/industrial, and exposed brick with overhead ductwork - like a large Chicago loft. There are plenty of booths and heavy wooden tables that can seat 2-6+ people. All chairs and benches are thickly padded and comfortable. Staff is attentive and generally warm. Parking can be a challenge as there is just the one expansive lot behind the charmingly renovated midcentury strip mall which is shared by increasingly popular shops, including Scented Leaf, Quisty's Sandwiches, and Decibel Coffee, among a half dozen others. Roccos has been around several decades, for a reason. Terrific food, stellar new digs, and a devoted community contributor.
Note: you can order takeout OR you can come in/sit down and dine. But you cannot merge the two. I'm often in a hurry, especially at lunchtime and (if I don't simply eat at my desk (most days) then I'll often order ahead, roll in as the food is finishing, and sometimes grab a chair and eat). Roccos' policy is (adamantly) one of not allowing that combination... if you order ahead it can only be for takeout (although they will gladly accommodate half/half pizza requests, Lol). I'll definitely be back.
