If you grew up on New York pizza, you'll probably want to skip this place.
I've eaten there a couple times, and got takeout (eggplant parmesan) once.
Pizza:
The crust is just wrong (too dense and too hard) - if you're looking for New York pizza, this isn't it. The sauce is ok, but sort of weak. The toppings are good.
I've gotten their pizza by the slice and as a whole pie. The individual slices were better than the pie, which doesn't really make sense, but that was my experience.
Eggplant Parm:
Nothing special. Greasier than ideal and the spaghetti was overcooked. But this was a takeout order - maybe it would have been better if I'd eaten there.
Service is fine, but not particularly friendly.
The ambiance is nice - it's a perfectly fine place to sit around. If only the pizza was better.
Note: I've been there with non-New Yorkers who seemed to like it much more than I did. I question their taste, but if you have a less-discerning pizza palate, you might like Rock'n Pies more than I did.
I chose not to share my opinions with these non-NY friends, because they were happy and there was no reason to rain on their parade. I wouldn't choose to go back to Rock'n Pies on my own, but if I was with other people who really wanted to eat there, I'd probably shut up and eat a slice of not-great pizza.
