My wife and I were on the end of a long trip through the US leaving via NYC. We’d done the sightseeing in NYC before, so I had a couple of breweries picked out to relax and chill. Rockaway popped up in my research as a must do. Really thankful for Ben’s hospitality and enthusiasm as he talked us through all the brews that were currently on tap. I pretty much went through the tap list minus a couple of dark beers (which I’m not normally a fan of anyway) and every drop was excellent, highlights were the Hawaiian Pizza IPA which (Ben said this was a customer favourite and I can see why) and the Koji Kid sour colab with Japanese brewer Choryo Brewery. Before we left, a customer came in with a best boy so we scored some puppy pats as the icing on the cake. Dog friendly breweries are always a winner.

Cool and popular brewery in Long Island City, across the street from Culture Lab LIC, two blocks from Gantry Plaza State Park. Best place to come if you just miss the ferry, don't hesitate and go for a beer! Outdoor seating by the entrance and around the corner. Cozy indoor room, not too big though, it can get quite busy.

I'm so HAPPY I came across Rockaway Brewing Company. I was at Gantry State Park enjoying the sunset, taking some pictures, and taking in the beautiful views when I decided to walk back to the subway station. Fortunately I bumped into RBC on my way back and was exactly the vibe I needed. The seating area indoors is not too big and not too small, but just right. The place was very welcoming, crowd down to earth, and the bartender very friendly. I had two beers - Who Let the Frogs Out (IPA) and the American Pils. Both fantastic!! 🍺 🍺 And above all, there is a brewery CAT! His name is Brownie and he practically runs the place. 😺 I can't wait to come back here very soon!

Nice hip brewery. The beer is decent. It's a little pricey if you compare to bottled major imported brands, but this is the story with all micro-breweries. i really like the availability of outside sitting, I'm glad we have them in LIC.

Loved the atmosphere! Exactly what one would expect from a brewery located in Queens. The selection was diverse. I had the Hawaiian pizza and Variation IPA. They were both fruit forward. While the HP seemed to be the locals favorite I actually preferred the Variation (v4).

Small place but still has a good amount of seating on the inside and outside. Friendly bar staff and a nice selection of interesting beers. Will come back for the vibes and the chance of meeting Brownie the cat! Recommend: Pumpkin Spiced Nitro Stout

Solid brewery with great beers. This place is right near Gantry Park with a few sets in doors and plenty outdoors. I got the Hawaiian Pizza IPA, a double hazy at 6.8%. Though an IPA, its light and refreshing, perfect for a summer day. The place is so welcoming and there are so many dogs that come here to chill while their owners drink. there's also a resident brewery cat. he's an orange cat and ohbso cute. I love popping by this place because they have good beers and the serving line goes quickly. they also have pop up good spots that serve right outside. when I went, Diggy's burgers were on the menu. they smashed burgers and oh so delicious. I live stopping by rockaway brewing when I'm in the area.

This is a local, small bar! I liked their menu, offerings. My boyfriend and I enjoyed this black "gourd" nitro stout with pumpkin spice topping. The service was great! The bartender is very friendly! There is a decent amount of seating, although the large TV that was broadcasting sports was closer to the entrance, but it was fun hearing the cheers of those watching.

We love coming here on the weekends, grab a brew and check out the music across the street at the culture lab. Do it!

This place has great beers and good vibes. Located about a 10-minute walk from the Long Island City ferry and in close proximity to multiple other breweries. This is a must-stop for a brewery tour or a drink before or after dinner. Outdoor seating is limited, but it is a good grab and go spot.

I loved my visit to Rockaway Brewing. One of my friends is really into breweries, so we hopped around some breweries in LIC, and Rockaway was one of the ones we hit. I will say that I've liked every brewery I visited in LIC, but Rockaway definitely stood out with their brewery cat! I've talked about that cat to everyone every time a brewery is mentioned. Anyway, great beers, friendly staff, and a BREWERY CAT? I couldn't ask anything more from a brewery. Highly recommend!

Stopped by while exploring LIC with my partner and we split a few tasters. Unfortunately, when we went, there were no sours, which are my favorite. There were quite a few stout options with my favorite being the pastry stout. Unfortunately I didn't get to meet the cat I've seen mentioned in reviews either! There are other breweries in the area I prefer more, but if there are more sours on the list the next time I'm in the area, I'd consider returning.

LIC has a number of breweries but only one with a cool brewery cat named Brownie. Brownie is an orange cat and is definitely the shining star of Rockaway but the staff holds their own as well. He's friendly and will also hold his own against any canine visitors. As for the beer, I am strictly a sour beer drinker which they don't always have but thankfully I've lucked out with one one tap the last few visits. I tend to come here with Run LIC, and we've always been welcomed whether it be a post-run beer, brewery run stop, or marathon medal celebration. I have enjoyed all of the sours I have tried thus far. The indoor area isn't super large so it's great when the weather is nicer because they have a lot of outdoor seating too.

Great brewery located in long Island City - closest subway stop is 7 vernon blvd or you can take the LIC ferry and it is a short 10 min walk to this place. I came with a group of friends to grab drinks. There are some chairs outside where you can sit and enjoy your drinks. Not too many seats outside though and I am not sure if the inside is open now. You order your drinks inside though. Good place to chill and hang out while grabbing some delicious beer!

Wonderful little brewery with a bar cat! The beer is great and bartender very knowledgeable. It is a smaller brewery so potentially harder for larger groups if a lot of people are ther.

Overall, really great environment and service. Beers are all pretty good with a few outstanding ones like their sour (3 Wheel Drive) and the hazy IPA (High Income Housing). They also have a cat mascot, Brownie! Would definitely recommend this place to any looking to grab a few local brews in the area! The place is pretty easy to find. When you see a garage full of beer fermentation tanks, you've come to the right place. The tasting room is a quaint little space with a bar that probably seats about 10-12 people and some other seating along the outer wall. They also have seating outside as well. We ordered a flight of all of their available beers, so we could get a taste of each one. Service was great. Even though the area was a little on the smaller side, never really felt cramped or overly crowded. Definitely a great experience and some good tasting beers!

I was just walking around this area and I saw a nice cute private outdoor seating. I grabbed a dark beer which was called black gold nitro stout. It taste very similar to guinness, a bit more softer. Im giving it 5 stars because I really like the ambience of the outdoor seating. Its covinient for groups of 2, also the employee was friendly.

Amending my review because I forgot to shout out the women who were there over the weekend making Mexican food! It was excellent!

Recently did a walk-up and saw people drinking beer outside at the tables on a rather chilly late fall weather. So we went in cuz... if people doing THAT, it must be good! Since indoor was all closed up, we just took out 2-3 different kinds of ales and my favorite was the Rockaway IPA! We even bought a 6-pack home to enjoy later. Very hoppy and smooth to the finish, without those throat-scraping feels some strong IPAs give. They also have rather nice murals along the side... I took some insta w/ my 9-yr old posing "Cheers!" with his old man. Haha. What a nice brewing co. to have in the neighborhood! (unfortunately, my cousin's, not mine) Show some support & get some ale for your next 2-people get together! (More booze for each person :D)

Cool brewery, when we pulled up on a Saturday night, the lot across the street was having some sort of event. Due to COVID there's no indoor seating, only some very limited seating outside, as due to their location on the corner, the wind made it cold. They had a very good Nitro Stout. We saw the brewery cat, chilling at the bar.

My favorite brewery in LIC. Their beer is always amazing. The inside is very cozy and there is a cute cat! Due to the pandemic, you can't drink inside but they have some chairs and tables outside. They also have a backroom where you can sit and enjoy beer. It's a great place to chill and hang out with friends. Highly recommended!

Another good brewery. It just has a lot of competition in Long Island City. Rockaway is real close to a few other breweries that I like too. Beer selection is pretty good. Prices are okay. Beers have lots of styles, and not just IPAs. It also has fruit flavored ones. There's a pretty good variety. It's kind of cramped inside. There's the bar in front, and there's not that much else except a few tables. I came in with a friend. We came to see a performance, because this is also a music venue. I had a Rocktoberfest. It's about $7 for a pint, which for a local craft beer isn't terrible. The beer and music made for good times. She had one of the sour beers. They also have other cool styles like saisons. It kind of is a bad area. It's usually safe but it's an ugly industrial wasteland for the most part. This is pretty close to the Vernon Jackson station.

Beer was good not great. There is virtually no indoor seating, it's primarily all outside even though your order inside. Vibe was ok. Bartender had a little bit of an attitude towards us, even though she had made a mistake on our order.

i have been there several times and had a pleasant experience. The female bartender was incredibly rude this evening.

Don't recommend at all, especially with much better breweries very close by. Bad beer, but even worse service. Extremely slow and rude. Don't waste your time or money going here.

If you're into small, quirky breweries, Rockaway Brewing Company is for you! They have about a dozen beers on tap that cover a variety of styles- ESB, IPA, stout, sour, you name it! I like variety in a brewery and this place certainly delivered on that. Flights (4 4-ounce pours) are priced right at $12 and most pints were $7-8, which is decent considering the location. The bartender seemed new, but incredibly friendly and happy to help. The inside is t much to look at, but there's a bike shop connected to the brewery, which is kind of the mark of an ultimate hipster establishment (at least in my mind). While I was only visiting NYC when I went, I would certainly return on another trip. Bonus if you're an animal lover: There is an adorable brewery cat named Brownie. You might be lucky enough to see him and give him some love.

This is a small brewery that's serving some really old brews. It's definitely full of character like they used to be. There's even the brewery cat who will give you affection. It's in a cute area close to other breweries. I love the beech vibes of the place and it's right next to a bike shop. I sampled a good amount of their stuff and pretty much enjoyed everything.

We stumbled upon Rockaway Brewing Company after a walk around Long Island City Piers. It's a small tasting room. There weren't many seats available, but we managed to get a pair by the bar. They have an upstairs area, but it was closed for a private event. They had a decent number of taps. We ordered two flights at $12 each. The beers were pretty good. They had a decent variety that included ales, sours, IPAs, and stouts. Good place for a quick beer, but they would need more seating if they wanted this to be a place for people to hang out.

This was the first stop on my LIC brewery crawl and what a great way to start. I was a big fan Hawaiian pineapple citrus beer. My friend got a nice stout she really enjoyed. I don' think you can go wrong here. I'm looking forward to post-COVID returning for indoor beer flights so I can try more variety.

The black gold nitro stout hands down the best craft beer I drank in NYC. You like dark beers come here. Cool brewery too, inside was cordoned off due to COVID but they had seating out on the sidewalk for you.

Went to rockaway brewing company this past weekend for my fiancé birthday. The beer is fantastic! Everyone is so nice and the outdoor seating is perfect. They were our first stop on our brew tour. Highly recommend!

I was super impressed with the beers I had last night at Rockaway Brewing. I'm a big fan of IPAs and the two we had, Curtain Call and Betty (something), were awesome. Both supported charities, which was pretty cool. They still are not doing seating inside, but they have some small tables outside and a few in a covered section within the brewery itself. This may become my go to for IPAs in the neighborhood if they keep making stuff like those!

This little gem on the far west side of Long Island City is charming! I came here with a beer ticket from the Queens Beer book. It's a quaint little tap room with some amazing choices and friendly bartenders. If you're feeling hungry, Cannelle (an awesome French bakery) is right across the street! As a fan of Saison beers, I instantly fell in love with the Pharm. It's cloudy and light in color, but really packs a punch with flavor. The Kolsch beer they serve is also pretty good. The bartender (I didn't catch his name) was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the beer. Long story short, I would definitely come back.

Super friendly bar tender, and they have a cat named Brownie! Seating is limited, but if you're there early, it shouldn't be a problem. On weekend nights, there's mexican food available to order at their entrance which paired nicely with the beer. Favorite beer I tried of the night was probably "cactus kisses." Also, they have small pours if you're not a big drinker and wanted to try multiple options!

Usually, when I hear the word "Rockaway" I can't help but think of a punk rock song by a bunch of hairy musicians. After visiting Rockaway Brewing Company, I now have two things to think of (and one is beer!). This was stop #2 on a LIC brew-venture back in the warmer weather (sorry for the delay!) and Rockaway delivered nicely in filling my cohorts and I with quality craft (beer, just in case I lost you there for a sec). RBC sits on a corner spot and fills its outer brick facade with some colorful artwork and a feeling of true New York. This can be found inside as well on a few walls, along with a little eclectic style (love the "Now Recording" sign above the brewery area). It's not a large tasting room and on that hot day we were packed in close, but still found some wall (with shelf) to lay our flights down. To consolidate on beer drinkin' and dollar spendin', a few of us split the two flight varieties available. Let's start with "The Classic Flight." Okay, so maybe that time away from when I had thosee brews does some injustice to them because I can't entirely remember their taste (besides Original ESB, that thing was good). But maybe that says something about the impact these beers had on me (which I guess wasn't much). Having said that, "The Other Flight" did stick in my mind (or palate) a whole lot longer. For starters, Rockaway IPA was a respectable rendition of an East Coast IPA while Every 1s A Winner kicked it up a notch in hops and bitterness. Though my two favorites were Peregrine Falcon (collab with Gun Hill) and Nitro Black Gold Stout. Falcon had that farmhouse flavor and a hint of exotic ingredients (lime zest and guava) which brought it home for me. And that Black Gold truly stood by its name. Check the pic out. It was beautiful in color and just as nice in its classic stout taste. At least that "classic" hit home, though as for that first flight, I suppose sometimes classics aren't always the best. Overall, Rockaway has enough quality brews and good vibes to warrant four stars. Perhaps there's a need for more than one visit to dive a little deeper into what they have to offer, and that curiosity would/could/should bring me back again (plus it's right by the LIC Flea & Food). So if you want to visit a Rockaway that isn't a beach, try this spot and rock on.

My sister and I randomly found this while walking around LIC. Absolutely loved the colorful mural outside of the brewery. Cozy space inside, complete with a darling brewery cat! Friendly staff who provides excellent recommendations. My sister and I both had a flight and were very happy with our selections. We will definitely be back!

I don't live in the area, but I came to meet up with a friend before taking my beloved doggo to the dog park next to Gantry. Decent beer selection for a reasonable price. For someone like me (indecisive), I was able to get a flight of 4 for $11. Super nice bartenders. After I ordered my flight of beers, this is how our conversation went: Bartender: would you like a treat for your dog? Me: sure, please! Bartender: actually, can I give it to her? My doggo absolutely loves people and the attention, and it's a truly dog friendly bar - as in, not only are they allowed, they are very welcomed and loved by the establishment. Generally: loved the chill vibe of this place. It's just a great place to hang out. There's also a water dispenser with cups so you can help yourself (and your dog) on a hot day. I will be back! Definitely worth the trek.

I've recently been trying to get more familiar with different types of beers so I was really happy to discover this place. Not too much seating at the time I went but I got lucky to score a seat for two. I got the Rockaway Rocket which was fruity and not too bitter. I'll be back some more this summer to try them all! There's also a cat here that was hanging out at the register and that was enough to give this place 5 stars.

I'll admit it always felt strange to me that Rockaway was based in LIC when I for some reason thought they were part of the Rockaways. (#1) As one of the breweries that first popped up during Queens' beer boom, RBC serves some of the borough's tastiest brews. It doesn't matter what they've serving, I'd just like some more. And for the record, I'm glad they're in LIC and rapidly expanding as we speak. This brewery isn't exactly a big crowd kind of space, but enough to where small groups of people can enjoy good company, some snacks, and flights of whatever they have on tap. The murals are a nice touch and I have always appreciated their bar. On occasion, they have live music playing as well. There hasn't been a beer that I didn't enjoy drinking, but I have a special affinity toward their ESB, which just so happens to be their flagship beer. The Bungalow Nights is a imperial stout, which also has a nice 10% ABV, which I could sit and drink all night. And then another favorite of mine is their Atta Boy, which is a sour ale and totally fruity. Something about that boysenberry + carbonation has me really digging it. And speaking of the Rockaways, they are now offering a summer exclusive where a shuttle bus (appropriately dubbed "The Brew Cruiser") will take folks back and forth to the beach from LIC to their taproom location. For $20 round trip, it runs every Saturday from June till Labor Day. To Ethan and the rest of the staff: Thanks for all you do! _________ (#1) Turns out they have a taproom out there!

Went to Rockaway Brewing Company on Saturday afternoon. It was impossible to ignore the horrendous heat and terrible space, even with some quality beers on tap. Quality: Tried everything that Rockaway Brewing Company had on tap. E.S.B., Dune Buggy, Cloudwatcher, T-Shirt Tan, Atta Boy, Bohemian Pilsner, Citron, Da Beach, Bungalow Nights, and Black Gold Nitro. My personal highlights were Black Gold Nitro, a dry stout with a defining chocolate flavor, and Atta Boy, a tart and fruity sour first tapped during my visit. There were also a lot of simple crowd pleasers, such as Da Beach and Dune Buggy, which did not do much for me, but seemed to be popular with other guests. Quantity: Smaller pours in the Flight, but the board clearly denotes sizes. Value: $12 for a Flight of four 4oz Pours. Ambiance: Rockaway Brewing Company is located in LIC, Queens. And while the beer selection is far superior to Rockaway's beach location, the space itself was a disaster. The taproom was an absolute oven. Its one thing to have no A/C, but with all that equipment in the area and no fans or even a hint of a cross-breeze, it was impossible to get comfortable. The warm water fountain was also a nice touch. Add in the odd bar configuration, limited stools, and terrible acoustics, it could not have been less enjoyable. Crowd: When I arrived a massive crowd filled the small space. One large group dominated the area, but there were also a good amount of couple and a few folks with dogs. Service: Friendly bartenders, who despite the high temperatures maintained good spirits. Parking: Plenty of parking in the area including a nearby shared lot.

Really liked the friendly vibe here. Went on a Saturday night and there was some seating, but most people stand. We got two of the four beer tastings so got to try all eight of the beers they had on tap. My favorite was probably the "Don't Hassle Me, I'm Local" beer. The "Tropical Pines" one is really sour, but if you're into sour IPAs then this drink is probably right up your alley. Overall would recommend this place for a chill place to hangout if you're in the area. If I'm ever in the area again, would definitely consider coming back!

First time I came to this brewery a while back there was no air conditioning and it was packed inside. This time around it was way cooler, as well as plenty of seating at the bar and ledges. Two options for flights: Classic or Other (essentially Popular vs. New). Got the Other Flight ($8); small pours of the following: Surfs up - great easy hop with low aftertaste American pils - drinkable and crisp Super FOMO - okay taste, dry red Nitro black gold stout - rich dark with nutty flavor Overall some nice beers in a chill setting. Wish the place itself was bigger, but a great taproom for the area.

I wanted to like this brewery more than I did. It was a-ok, but nothing really stood out to me. I enjoyed my beer flight, but there were none where I said to myself, "Damn, that's good." It was nice to see they had some variety, though, and that they gave two suggestions of flights to try. (But, doesn't everyone trade out one or two?) I also wasn't the biggest fan of minimal sitting space, so I stood by one of the ledges on the wall. I'm sure there's a reason behind it, but the tiled floor, while functional, just made the space feel super industrial. I suppose that's the point, being in good ol' LIC. There are plenty of other spots in LIC where I'd rather be drinking a beer, but it was nice to support the growing beer scene.

Great place to chill and grab brunch on a weekend. They have brunch until 4pm and have lots of options. I have the vegan blueberry crumble, which was made to order. Although it took 15 minutes to make, the freshness of the blueberries and the the crispy top is worth it. They have a bunch of board games and a pool table to keep you occupied.

Only one cider option, Brooklyn cider, which is pretty watered down. Tried one fruity sounding drink that tasted like a regular ipa. A little expensive for the lack of different flavors. Also didn't get to see the tabby

This place is great! An earlier review described it as located in an "industrial wasteland" - ignore that. It's seconds from the waterfront in LIC, amidst the new developments near the Pepsi sign and one of the fastest growing areas of New York. It's in a really cool original building perfect for a brewery. Great beer, great service - we picked up amidst the city lockdown and were delighted to find this place. Obviously didn't stay in the actual building so can't comment on that but super happy to have this place local to LIC, which is not an industrial wasteland.

My friend had a brewery crawl around LIC for her bachelorette party, and this was my favorite stop! It would have been easy for the bartenders to roll their eyes at a group of drunk girls wearing matching tees, but instead they went above and beyond for us. From letting the bride-to-be pour a few beers to joining in on our party games, they made us feel comfortable and welcome. We even decided to skip a different brewery on the agenda so we could spend more time at Rockaway! I've been a fan of their Rockaway location for years, and I'm so glad their LIC location is just as great. I'll definitely be back for the beer (I liked every beer I tried), outdoor seating, tacos, friendly atmosphere, and Brownie the Cat!
