Wonderful tiki bar! A small town family atmosphere. Better sushi than Seattle! And the friendliest people. Highly recommend

Really fresh poke with a lot of sides and vegetables! Price is a lil high but for a beach in NYC, also very fair. The location and seating is great and also there’s usually a DJ.

I just finished my event here today, 1/16/26, 7pm-9pm, called Power-up Open Mic. Our mission is to empower the communities of NYC's 5 Boroughs through open mic(please check us out on IG, @gsiaap) and I was about to order my fave: Vegetable.Edamame dumplings and cider when the manager Tony offered me an order on the house❤️ So, I ordered them! Thank you, Tony! ❤️ I learned about this place last 2023 summer, on my first day of learning how to surf: they let me use their restroom even though I wasn't a paying customer🙏I had to use before I went to the train station which is located just behind the bar. I noticed how tidy and cleaned their restroom was! And the place ambiance is welcoming and most especially the bar tenders: so polite and friendly❤️ Their food on the list looks delicious! But, I was only in the mood to much on their Vegetable Edamame : I just can't believe there's such thing! Whenever I go to Japanese restaurant, I have toalways have Edamame in the side and they were served on a plate _hot and greenery! I have to open its skin. But Tiki Bar has dumplings of Edamame!❤️ So far, without googling, they are the only place I know that has this🥰 #meiscrazywithedamame

While biking along the beach with my son, we got hungry and were heading toward Subway — he wasn’t sure we could find anything tastier or healthier nearby. That’s when we spotted this cozy little sushi café-bar. We decided to take a chance — and wow, what a discovery! We sat outside to keep an eye on our bikes and picked a few items at random: gyoza, a poke bowl, a roll, and French fries. And honestly, everything exceeded our expectations — fresh, flavorful, and super satisfying. Let me take a moment to rave about the fries — they were pure perfection: crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside. I don’t think I’ll be able to enjoy fries anywhere else after this. I swear, they’ve either got a secret seasoning… or a bit of kitchen magic going on. The poke bowl was beautifully balanced and fresh. Instead of the usual beans, it had green peas — I usually prefer beans, but I suspect they were out and made a thoughtful substitution. It still worked! A special shoutout to the staff: even though we didn’t order drinks, they brought us cold water with ice on a hot day — a simple gesture that made a big difference. I’m definitely coming back with my whole family. If you’re in the area — don’t pass this place by. It’s a hidden gem that knows how to make you feel welcome and well-fed.

Shannon was an outstanding bartender. Despite the high volume of customers, she managed to provide attentive, efficient, and high-quality service to everyone. Her proactive approach ensured that no one was left waiting and that every guest received exceptional attention. I would highly recommend visiting this establishment as long as Shannon is part of the team.

My love and I had our lunch date at the Tiki Bar. Atmosphere was was cozy. We ordered chicken sliders with the perfect heat and sweetness! We ordered a Zombie for a refreshment. The fries were fresh with a nice crisp! We will be back 😋

Decent vegan options here! We visited and got two kinds of Bao buns - a mushroom one & the marinated tofu one (the mushroom was better than the tofu) We also got the tofu poke bowl which was delicious! Lots of toppings and lots of flavor. None of the sliders could be made vegan bc of the Hawaiian rolls and the dumplings also couldn’t be made vegan, but there were some other vegan appetizers - the corn nuggets for sure. Service was great - the waitress was vegetarian and allergic to eggs (if I remember correctly) so she was knowledgeable and very helpful! Overall, I wish they would put in a little more effort to make things more vegan adaptable.

Nice cozy quiet little spot tucked away. You could almost miss this gem... The food took a little long to come out due to a printer malfunction but the staff made up for it with an apology and guacomole and chips on the house. The food was so delicious. I would change absolutely nothing about it. Fresh and tasty... I'd go back anytime I'm in the area.

Great ambience here! I always love a good tiki bar and this place being brand new is way cleaner than any of the others I've visited! The bartender, Susie, took great care of me and my cousin when we stopped in after work. The place is not that big but it's a good enough size to have a private conversation with your cousin at one of the tables while two groups of men have their own conversing in the bar. There was atv going but we could barely hear it. We both ordered poke bowls. I got the tuna and my cousin got the chicken. I've honestly never heard of chicken poke, I'm pretty sure that poke is only fish but it's a nice creation for the area. I doubt many would eat raw fish. Certainly my cousin wouldn't. The portions were enormous, neither of us finished our bowls but my cousin had enough to save for her lunch the next day. We both LOVED our food and our skinny margaritas. We'll definitely be back to try more food.

My go to place after a long day at the beach. It's so cute. The drinks are tasty and sooooo strong. I usually get the Painkiller but this time I got The Mai Thai. Did not disappoint. Excellent drink. I usually get the pork dumplings which I love. This time I added the shrimp spring roll. The inside is mushy. And you can't taste the shrimp. Won't get that again. The bartender was nice enough. Never asked me how my food was or even goodbye when I left. Customer service needs to be worked on. Nevertheless I'll be back.

Really nice place and great food. We ordered the chicken poke bowl - fresh and delicious. Also ordered the shrimp spring rolls which were really good. The mushroom baos were huge and great but too much cabbage for me. The dumplings were my favorite - healthy simple and tasty. I had the liquid gold drink and if you're not a ginger lover don't order it because it's super strong.

Such a fun spot to chill after the beach or when your missing warm weather. I love a good tiki bar and they make my favorite Mai tai so well here. Always good service and a fun atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

Celebrated a military retirement party here. The owners and staff were all extremely friendly and service was phenomenal. All the cocktails tasted great and the appetizers were deeelish. I especially enjoyed the chicken sliders and dumplings. I highly recommend the Rockaway Tiki Bar to anyone in the area! Will definitely come back on my next visit to New York!

We were next door looking into getting a surf board. Jennie who works there suggests we go for lunch at the Tiki. In we go and are greeted by Pat. Not crowded we have our choice, inside or out. It's like 90 degrees out so we sit down at a table inside. Place looks cool with totem masks and artwork on the walls. A red scooter near the front door. I order some Prosecco. We order the teriyaki chicken dumplings and tuna poke salad. The food comes quickly and it's great. 12 dumplings with a delicious teriyaki sauce. The salad is also delicious with tuna tomatoes legumes and arugula. We hang out a bit, no rush. The music playing island style. What a delightful lunch. I tell Pat that I'll do a Yelp review and he thanks me! We ll be back soon

Saw this place in a YouTube video and made the 1-hour drive right after. Parking was easy and the sign was right about chill vibes and tropical drinks. I was not expecting much, but was totally thrilled about the entire experience. I thought it would be a bar that just threw in some tiki drinks, but I was wrong...very wrong. This spot must be on every tiki enthusiast's Must Go list!

Very good poke bowl with tofu, and our very friendly waiter had them make it without the Mayo to be vegan. Quick and friendly service and lots of vegan friendly options.

The food, service, and ambiance, was all super cute! I highly recommend this place. It was my first time here and I'm definitely going back. The drinks were delicious. I was with a group of people and everyone ordered something different and everyone loved what they had. They make in-house mixes for the drinks and it's just super yummy. When someone can make nonstop good spicy margs you know they know how to make a drink! Lol

Rockaway Tiki has been a mainstay of I and my wife's trips out of the city into a paradise! from the friendly service, hands on managment, sanitary establishment, delicious food and tasty traditional tiki bar cocktails it has something for every palette! highly recommend tofu bao buns, tiki fries, zombie, and painchiller! (our always order!) other than the actual workings of the place its decor is top notch- inspired by the art of Tiki Tony and other notable tiki artists, and theres always something new theyre adding so keep an eye peeled! lastly they have a back bar sporting tiki mugs from regulars, come often enough and id highly recommend bringing your own mug!

It's a vibe! It's really a vibe! The ambience the food, the drinks, the music, the owner the staff are very friendly. You always have great conversation laughter you get to let your hair down after a hard day of work. I truly recommend trying this place out. You will not be disappointed. Btw I love the shrimp rolls, and the wings are my favorite.

I was pleasantly surprised to see them open on a beautiful Monday afternoon for lunch. Pros: They were opened and we were attended by a Friendly staff. Great menu selection and drinks. If you do not like rum They can make you a drink with whiskey or vodka. I went with the whiskey. Really enjoyed everything. Cons: very salty food. We had the dumplings and pineapple fried Rice and we really couldn't eat it. I did mention it was salty but nothing was offered. The dumplings can be managed as the soy sauce is on the side. The rice is unbearable. In fact, 4 hours after my meal I'm still thirsty. The chicken sliders were delicious. I should have had more of that. I personally didn't like the hot dog. I don't really think it's beef or best quality. I would skip it for a real one. If the food wasn't so salty they would get five stars. I enjoyed everything else.

I had a good server but the bar area seemed a bit chaotic. First I was told to "sit anywhere" then later that I needed to order at the bar. I ordered a Mai Tai and the chicken sliders after spending the afternoon at the beach. The chicken wasn't hot, as if it had been cooked an hour ago. The pieces of chicken were small even for sliders. Flavor was ok. That it wasn't freshly cooked was the biggest disappointment. The Mai Tai was way too sweet. I feel like Sandy offered opportunities for people that they weren't up for. This restaurant could be great but it's not. Outside seating, regulars, good liquor selection. I hope they improve.

Ambiance is tiki islander cool. Drinks and food were too. Great little place near the beach, with plenty of street parking.

We went for lunch Sunday. The place has a very cool vibe. The staff is sort of pleasant. Told us to sit where we want, but failed to explain that there would not be anyone to take our order. It's done via the app. And, if you're not signed up for the app, there's a two dollar charge to use it. (My 79 year old mother would never be able to go there by herself) Anyway, we asked a girl that was doing the chalkboard sign what the situation was, and she explained it to us. The menu is very small and there are not that many options. We ordered two different orders of steamed dumplings (chicken teriyaki and an order of pork dumplings) I really could not tell which was which. We also got the chicken lettuce wraps, and two orders of pokey. One salmon and one tuna. The poke was probably my least favorite of all the poke I have eaten in my life. It was edible, but that's about it. The bill came out to over $75. Everything was OK. Nothing tasted outstanding. Nothing was mind blowing. If you want to order drinks they have to be ordered at the bar. The drinks are OK. I probably would never go back there again. The place is just not for me.

I came here this past Sunday for lunch and must say I was impressed from the waiter Tyler I think, sorry for not remembering his name, super friendly and ca. The decor were amazing and the food's DELISH!!! Yum and the drinks were strong but good. Overall, great service, will definitely visit again and will definitely recommend this place.

Great drink visually...Alexis was a great bartender! If I was into sweet drinks this would've been the one! Lol but I'm not so she made me Tequila Sunrise instead and that was a great!

Came here for drinks and little bite to eat on a Saturday night. I was seated outside and handed their drink menu, but was told the kitchen was running an HOUR behind so couldn't get food (actually saw people including staff leaving the bar and going next door for pizza... ridiculous). Drinks were ok, nothing to rave about. Now lastly, the bathroom was single stall and smelled like a subway station. It was disgusting and they didn't have any hand soap. Wouldn't recommend

I've been coming to Rockaway Tiki Bar for over a year. Lots of vegan options which I greatly appreciate as a vegan. The tiki fries are divine and they have a vegan Mayo sauce. The drinks are next level. You only need 1-2 zombies to feel it, and each bartender makes amazing tiki drinks. The staff is very kind, and the bar is beautifully decorated. Definitely an escape from the hustle and bustle of nyc, and the best way to end a beach day! If you get tyler as a server, you'll get the full tiki experience!

A beachy place you want to come back too. Relaxed atmosphere excellent service and nice selection of cocktails. Prices are reasonable. Will be coming back. Inside and outside seating.

Bar with a nice variety of drinks and an interesting food menu. We had edamame dumplings, tuna tostadas, and crispy mushroom baos. Everything was good but our favorite item was the tuna tostada. They had a lot of easy going drinks in terms of beers, wines, and cocktails. The best word that comes to mind to describe the selection is sessionable. I had their frozen cocktail which was called the pain chiller. It hit all the spots and made them all cold. Nice cocktail for a hot day in the 80s/90s.

This is a great new addition to the Arverne By The Sea local cuisines. They do an amazing job for local poke that can compare with the authentic poke you would get in the Pacific or Hawaii. Prices around 15 bucks but a healthy portion size. Didn't get a chance to eat their other appetizers or try their drinks (as it is mainly a bar) but the place is already getting customers a couple weeks into being open and will surely be packed from May to September!

The worst poke bowl I've ever tasted. I got a salmon bowl and it was really salty and flat on flavor. The fish is marinated, there's soy sauce on the rice, and salty vinegar based dressing in the greens. Will only come back here for drink. No thanks on food

Great! Vegan options, service was extraordinaire, ambiance was very beachy which is great because the beach is only a block over.

Went to this place two days ago with friends. The food is not that great and the drinks are super expensive. A group of people at the table next to us were complaining about the drinks to the server. One of the guys was saying the drinks were filled with mostly ice and very little of the actual drink. The bartender came to the table and started yelling and cursing at the the guy. She then left and the other male bartender came to the table. That bartender wanted to fight the guy complaining about the drinks. The two bartenders were very unprofessional and out of line. That's not how you talk to and treat paying customers. After that the individuals at the table paid their bill and just left and we actually followed right behind. The people from the table saw either the owner or manager of the place outside and explained to her what had just happened. She took the bartenders side. She told them to not come back to the bar. My group even told her what the bartenders did but she still took their side. Needless to say neither of the groups will be going back to that place and hope others after reading this doesn't go either. There are better places to go to in Rockaway like the bar next door ,the bar across the street or the Rockaway Hotel. They have a hot bar on the top floor with a rooftop. Great in the spring and summer with a great dj's.

Just stopped by for lunch. We got the Ahi tuna poke bowl, crispy mushroom sliders, and steamed chicken teriyaki dumplings. Everything was delicious. Good portion size, quality ingredients. We'll definitely be back to try some drinks soon. You won't regret trying this spot!

When I say the food melts in your mouth .. and the drinks with 2 your done super good and strong .. I had chicken dumplings and fried chicken bites , my husband had a burger with ff..

We like tiki bars and this place didn't disappoint. Food wise, we got a poke bowl and chicken sliders and they were really good. The pole bowl with Tina especially was good. But, we were here for the drinks and they were outstanding. Our bartender was Nick and he was the real deal. We loved every drink but someone let us know that Nick can do a Hurricane (not on the menu) and it was the best one I've ever had. Loved this place and will be back soon!

The service was poor, the bartender seemed like she didn't wanna be there....also they didn't have half their menu. The one cocktail i had wasn't bad. It's sad because this place has potential too. Their bartender was extremely uninviting. Mine you they weren't busy at all! But Go next door to the bbq place for better food and service and drinks! And a more inviting experience

This Gem of a restaurant is a great addition to Rockaway and it has a great Tiki feel perfect for a bite to eat and drinks while enjoying your day at Rockaway beach. I enjoyed the Habanero Mango wings and it came with a super delicious sauce. I highly recommend this restaurant!!

Staff from servers and waitresses to manger told me not to come back and was telling very obnoxious , unprofessional and really snobby people. All this occurred because I wanted to edit my order and take off something I told them I don't eat they still didn't honor it. The manager was walking away while I tried to voice my concerns and he is a racist and he's prejudice. Beware of them

Unexpected, and amazin! Cool and cozy, great decor, great outside seating, INCREDIBLE food,. excellent bartender... I had vegan baos(best ever) and listened to some old school spinning. I will be back tomorrow

We had a Christmas lunch there yesterday. 5 stars. Service was great. Food was delicious. I recommend the dumplings and tiki fries. Bartender was a pro with authentic top notch drinks.

The food is delicious and the drinks are great. It's a restaurant that is perfect for going out to eat with some friends and you're a block away from the beach! Can't beat it.

I've lived in Far Rockaway for almost 9 years now and I just visited this place last week. I ordered a salmon poke bowl and a iced tea/passion fruit drink. And can I just say that I absolutely loved the food and drink so much. The inside is so beautiful and very relaxed. I absolutely loved the hospitality. If you're into poke bowls or anything else, I definitely recommend this place

I wanted this to be a great experience, I love tiki and I love rum. The atmosphere was clean and totally tiki. The menu was well written/presented. Our bartender was an absolute dick. We asked questions and he wouldn't respond back to us, he would only point, it was weird. The drinks we got were ok, they really needed some cracked or pebbled ice, serving a barely shaken zombie on cubed ice is rough. We wanted to order food, but they were out of the first three things we picked. Then watching the line-cook with a bandaid hanging off of his elbow, while he touched his face and then touched food was enough for us. The service was really Atrocious, I'm all for a bartender with an attitude, if they actually have the knowledge and skill to back it up. This clown was holding his shaker tin upside down. I really wanted this place to be a win and it just wasn't. I would not recommend this place to anyone, ever.

Super cute Rockaway destination for incredibly delicious, satisfying dishes, and clever cocktails--even in the winter. The general vibe is Hawaiian-inspired, and the decor is very welcoming and warm. Plus, the staff couldn't be friendlier or more adorable. I truly recommend for BRUNCH: Pork belly and egg sandwich? Miso mushroom bao buns? YES.

Tiki by the Sea is a fantastic addition to the growing beach community in the Arverne by the Sea section of Rockaway Beach. They are a full service bar and restaurant with ample amounts of indoor or outdoor seating. There is very much attention to detail inside to make you feel that beach atmosphere. The food menu features a must try ahi tuna poke bowl which is as fresh as can be. Tiki is located just steps from the Beach 67 Street stop on the A subway line. They are also down the block from a NYC designated surfing beach which includes surfboard lessons and/or rentals.

Tiki food is amazing! love the theme, it makes you feel like you are on vacation. Tastiest take out food I have had in awhile.
