RockCreek Is Expanding to the Kirkland Waterfront | Eater Seattle

"A Fremont seafood destination known for cocktails, crudo, and clams is opening a second RockCreek location in Kirkland this December; the 5,000-square-foot space at 89 Kirkland Avenue in Moss Bay will seat 90 inside and 60 outside with a private dining area for 45, and features floor-to-ceiling windows that will offer sweeping views of Lake Washington and downtown Seattle. This will be owner Eric Donnelly’s fourth restaurant — he also runs FlintCreek Cattle Company and Bar Sur Mer." - Harry Cheadle

Came here on a Sunday during happy hour and got the mussels, clams, and calamari. The broth in the mussels is drunk worthy it’s so good. Their grilled sourdough is ADDICTIVE, the smoke infusion from the wood fire stove is perfect. We also got branzino and it is part of clean plate club because everything just pairs so well together. Definitely would come back, their service is also top tier, this places deserves the tip ❤️

This seafood restaurant is situated in downtown Kirkland, offering a charming outdoor seating area and a fantastic atmosphere. In the summer, the view of the marina is absolutely breathtaking! We started with oysters, mussels, and a whole grilled fish. The oysters were incredibly fresh and juicy—definitely a highlight of the meal. The mussels and grilled fish were also delicious, though we felt the fish could benefit from a longer marination to allow the flavors to fully penetrate the flesh. Sadly, both of the cocktails we ordered didn’t meet expectations. We specifically requested smoky cocktails and followed the staff's recommendations, but neither drink had the smoky essence we were hoping for. For the price, it is pretty disappointing. Overall, the food was great, but the cocktails left us wanting more.

Excellent Seafood Experience I recently dined at this seafood restaurant and had an outstanding experience. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was top-notch. Highlights: - *Branzino*: Fresh and flavorful, cooked to perfection. - *Octopus Grilled*: Tender and well-seasoned, a standout dish. (So good that’s why I forgot to take photos) - *Calamari*: Crispy and flavorful, a great appetizer and fun presentation in the 🥡 - *Yogurt Pickles*: A refreshing side dish that complemented the seafood nicely. Overall Experience The restaurant's atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Given the quality of the food and service, I'd highly recommend this restaurant to seafood lovers. 5/5 stars If you're a seafood enthusiast, this place is definitely worth trying. Be sure to order the Branzino and octopus grilled - you won't be disappointed!

We visited today for brunch and were brutally disappointed by the food. I’ve visited the Fremont location and can attest the food doesn’t really compare or uphold to the standards of this restaurant group. Sadly everything was under seasoned. The crab cakes were abysmal and the food was plated in thoughtfully. I expected more and this place really dropped the ball. I would skip this place and go somewhere else considering the cost. We spent $103 on 2 dishes and one drink and a beer.

Food was great! Saturday menu situation around 2pm is a little weird as the servers are not 100% sure what is served. Brunch and happy hour menus were offered. Food was tasty tho! Drinks were good.

RockCreek Seafood & Spirits truly lives up to its reputation. The seafood is absolutely excellent—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The ambience is elegant and inviting, making it ideal for both casual get-togethers and special occasions. Yes, it’s a bit on the pricier side, but every bite is worth it. We went as a group and tried a variety of seafood dishes along with some drinks—everything was outstanding. It’s rare to find a place where every single item pleases everyone at the table. If you’re a seafood lover, this spot is a must-try. Easily one of the best seafood restaurants in the area!

Google
This was our first time visiting the Kirkland location, though we’ve been to other spots (and Cattle Creek) and usually really enjoy them. I’m happy to say Kirkland didn’t disappoint! We went on Halloween night, so the place was empty, and while the service was friendly, it was a bit slower than expected for a quiet evening. The cocktails were delicious, and the food was every bit as good as at the other locations. The restaurant itself is larger, which makes it feel a bit less cozy, but still very inviting. I’d love to return in the summer to try some crudos and oysters—it seems like the perfect spot for that kind of fare with a little more lively ambiance. The portions here, as with the other locations, are on the smaller side, so I’d recommend one small dish and one main dish per person, which felt like the perfect amount. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and look forward to coming back!

Google
This was awesome. Food was great! Flavors were robust and quality was superb. Our waitress was really nice too. They randomly gave us 2 dishes to try. Never had that happened before. We stayed there for 3 hours and even though they were busy, they didn't rush us or asked us to leave. She refilled our glasses of water even after we paid and just sat there and talked. Would go back for sure!

Yelp
Went to Kirkland for dinner on a Saturday....without reservations. What were we thinking? Fortunately, we got to Kirkland early enough and, after a couple of, "next availability is at 9 p.m.", we got a table at Rockcreek. They have outdoor dining area with a fireplace, full bar where you can also dine, a few tables for two and a few tables for group seating. They also have a small private event space downstairs. Cocktails and Mocktails were great: For zero proof drink -- Golden Hour - pathfinder amaro, roasted pineapple syrup, grapefruit, orange, lime, egg white, nutmeg $13 - this drink was well balanced between sweet and tart. It is pretty pricey for a non-alcoholic drink. For cocktail -- Smoldering Sun - mezcal, tequila, roasted pineapple syrup, lime, tiki bitters $17. My companion must've like this because he had two. Under the Starters & Small Plate: Totten Inlet Mediterranean Mussels - a la catalan, spanish chorizo, roasted tomato, sherry, pimenton, baguette $25 - another hit! Cooked Catalan style, the chorizo was a nice contrast to the musssels. The baguette was a must to dip in the broth! For the main course: Fall Fig Salad - bacon landon, frisee, endive, ricotta salata, tarragon, sherry gastrique $22 - this salad was amazing! Loved the fig and the bacon was a nice salty contrast to the sweetness of the fig. This was under the Starters & Small Plate but it intrigued me enough to want it for my main course and I'm glad I ordered it. Whole Grecian Branzino - lemon skordalia, Lebanese spice, herb-onion sald, pine nuts, zaatar, charred lemon $52 - Delicious! Served whole and deboned tableside. It was big enough to share, but if you're hungry, it won't be a problem to finish it by one person. Dessert: RockCreek S'mores - valrhona chocolate mousse, graham cracker , smoked merigue $12 - I liked that this dessert is not too sweet. The chocolate mousse was divine! Had Chocolate Martini for after dinner drink and requested bartender to go light on the vodka. It was good, but the vodka was too light. Vodka, meletti chocolate liqueur, creme de cacao, frangelico, salted caramel foam $12 (menu stated $18, but maybe the vodka was non-existent, they charged me less). Service was good. They tack on an automatic 23% service charge in place of traditional tipping. 82.61% of which are distributed directly to the hourly team members, while 17.39% of the total service charge are retained by the house to help offset rising operational costs.

Yelp
We have been wanting to try this place since they opened and finally made it here for brunch recently. We walked in on a weekend and were seated immediately. We loved our spot on their deck. We both got the Smoked Tasso Ham Benedict, we liked their take on Eggs Benedict. I liked the addition of the fried green tomato.

Yelp
We came back after such an excellent first experience, and once again most of the staff seemed totally in sync. Our initial server Sam was back taking care of us, and we were also helped by Kianna and Mackenzie. Like many others have mentioned, the service charge does feel a bit steep. But we genuinely felt cared for throughout the meal. There were thoughtful touches all around, and while the surcharge isn't the staff's decision, they more than made up for it with their service.

Yelp
Wonderful lakeside view, rustic and cozy lodge-like interior, and wonderful happy hour. Several of the items are entrées, with a wide variety of choices, and terrific prices for food and drink.

Yelp
We chose a late summer Sunday to meet friends for brunch. Our service was attentive and personalized. We received check-ins, but the server allowed us to have our time to visit. The server recommended some champange to accompany our food. The food was as expected and came out in a timely manner. The windows are large, and a lot of natural light. The location near the marina was perfect for an after brunch stroll. I will definitely return. I am interested in checking out the whiskey bar downstairs during the evening.

Yelp
Meh. The menu is large and impressive , much like the atmosphere. It's a beautiful space, located in the heart of downtown Kirkland. But the cons are heavy, comprised of basic service, surprisingly flavorless dishes, loud atmosphere and don't be surprised by the 23% automatic gratuity. The best dish was the potato rolls! Mmmmmm. Read on for more ... Service- we had a resy and were seated in the corner of the bar. The bench is uncomfortably deep, could have used a pillow behind me. Besides that, we ordered the oysters on the half shell. They were promptly served but no mention of where they were from and the sauces they were served with. I'm annoyed that we had to ask. Also had to flag a server down for a 2nd cocktail. Maybe they were between server shifts? Weird. Our server also had to ask where the oysters were from and come back to us. He was nice but the service just didn't feel commiserate with the prices and atmosphere. Food- The food was shockingly flavorless. The menu makes their food sound delicious. The Caesar was disappointing - flavorless and the bones in the anchovies were surprising. The hamachi was good, you get 6 small pieces . Bite sized. The calamari looked great and I liked the light fry but again, the sauce was bland. Overall nice presentation. The potato rolls are delicious- drenched in butter () and sprinkled with chili powder give them a great kick. Atmosphere- this is a beautiful space and the outdoor patio looks perfect on a nice day. I'm all about tipping and will always tip 20%. Heads up on the automatic 23% they add. Overall, if you want seafood, the Water Grill in Bellevue blows this place away on all levels (freshness, flavor, service and ease.) To top it off and it's not related to my rating but we were surprised to walk out to a parking ticket. We paid on the app, we were on time and I have a credit card charge but we were still ticketed by the parking police. This doesn't make sense. Next time, I'll find free parking and walk to avoid these erroneous charges.

Yelp
French nurse #2.. light on the liquor. Good taste Calamari. Smaller portion than what we're use to. Nice crispiness but not salty enough. It was kind of bland PO boy.. tasted fantastic. Bacon was perfect. Only w sliders Half shell oysters. Half a dozen. Smaller size posters than what we're use to. Nice and soft Key lime pie. Wasn't a slice. It was a little cup. Smaller than my sink. Maybe 3 inches in circumference. It was good but small Ricotta apple beneights . Couldn't taste the apple. Small off balls. Mostly puff Old fashioned.. perfect. Tasty. Strong Outdoor seating available with heaters Seating available downstairs next to the wine cellar with a bar for a more intimate setting It's almost as if they're more focused on the presentation than the quality. Food comes out, 2 people check the way it looks and it goes out

Yelp
Tasty food, lively atmosphere with many seating options (Especially in the summer) and really friendly and attentive service

Yelp
Happy hour is a great time to visit this place after sunset at the marina next to it. Food was good, service was too much... no need to ask if everything is fine every six minutes Make sure that you check your bill, as we were asked to add 23%. The waiter saw that we were not happy and removed it. Not cool.

Yelp
Restaurants is located in Kirkland downtown, street parking only. All dishes are pretty good. Highly recommend the Spanish squid starter and the rockfish&shellfish stew. Service is good although they are very busy and the tables are kinda small. Some of their tables are high tables so make sure you ask which type of seating you want when you reserve.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and service, yummy small dishes, and nicely crafted cocktails. I really enjoyed the Spicy Margarita, which was actually spicy and had a nice lime-y smoky salt rim. The small dishes we tried were all flavorful and beautifully presented.

Yelp
I tried the brunch on Sunday and it was so good that I took my family for dinner on Monday! The food was outstanding with flavor profiles that work so well together! Every dish I tried was wonderful. But the peach turnover from brunch was sublime!!! I'm still thinking about it 2 days later. The service staff were very attentive and welcoming. The noise level was fine when we went but I could see how it could get really loud the later you come. This will be on our rotation for sure!
google avatar

Gina S.

Yelp
While the patio seating was quite lovely, and the service attentive, the food and drinks were a bit disappointing. Our table had a salad (which was drowning in dressing), a fish sandwich (which was lacking in flavor), and spritzers (which were pleasant but basic). In short, everything was fine, but nothing was memorable enough to make this a "go-to" spot. Pro-Tip: If you want to enjoy the lovely patio, maybe come for a drink and do dinner elsewhere?

Yelp
I used to love this place (and Flint Creek), but I reduse to go to placed with a 23% service charge added to the bill. I always tip 20%, but I don't want it done for me. Just raise the prices and let customers know you're paying a fair wage. I still might tip on top for great service. But an auto-surcharge is a hard pass. I'll miss that hanger steak though.

Yelp
This is my fifth time at this restaurant, and every single time I've been impressed by both the food and the service. The staff are always genuinely cheerful, friendly, and warm-hearted. Every dish is delicious, and I truly made the right choice bringing my friends here each time -- everyone is always impressed.
google avatar

Bo P.

Yelp
I've been to RockCreek twice (back to back weekends) and the service did not disappoint. The wait staff are really friendly and the food isn't too bad either. I've ordered from both their dinner menu and happy hour menu. The Hanger steak was good, the Branzino fish was nicely cooked and soft, their smashed potatoes are delicious and we ordered that both times, and their clams are quickly becoming a favorite. I will say, though, that their paella is a miss. I wouldn't order that again. Paellas should taste as though it stewed for hours...their version tastes as if it's been just 15 minutes. There are other better dishes that I'd opt for but go ahead and try it -- it's not terrible.

Yelp
Enjoyed a wonderful meal here w friends. It was all our first times and the flavors, textures, blends of sauces/herbs and spices combined with fresh ingredients was delicious and memorable and service was very kind and had great recommendations. We were surprised that even though we ate quite a bit, the meal didnt feel heavy - it felt light while still feeling satiated which was nice. - Spanish octopus was tender and flavorful flavors. - asparagus was fresh, plump and cooked so it was crisp, tender and not stringy. - hamachi crudo - fresh and delicious! Loved the citrus and veggies that enhanced the flavors - prawns st Helena- loved the sauce, yummy grits and grilled bread! The prawns were a little overcooked but still enjoyed this dish - Chilean seabass. Beautiful presentation, vibrant citrus flavors and a bit meatier than I was expecting but loved the glaze and the acidity of the sauce was a bit strong but helped cut down on the heaviness and really liked it. - branzino. We loved the fresh lightness of the fish especially adding the lemon! So much more flavor w it, sharable and would definitely order this again! - both desserts were a yummy way to end the meal and complimented each other. Texture was smooth, not too sweet and just enough tartness for keylime and sweetness for the chocolate! Loved the burnt marshmallow topping! Looking forward to returning again!

Yelp
Second visit to this place this time with wife. Taste wise an atmosphere, the place is definitely four star but they had a few misses. So overall giving him three stars. Here's the breakdown. We wanted to try multiple things so did most the appetizers and shared an entree. We started with their version of oysters Rockefeller; with bacon and garlic on it instead of spinach. Presentation was nice, but unfortunately was super super salty. They must have added extra salt on top of the salt already within the bacon. We had to scrape off what would have been tasty bacon topping in order to eat the oysters. Next we had the charred octopus which was delicious. Served Spanish style with baby potatoes and green olives. Then we had their calamari carryout which is served quite cutely in a Chinese carryout box. Calamari was nice, not overly breaded. However, it was supposed to be with stir fry vegetables, but was just stir fried lettuce. I guess the kitchen ran out of other veggies? Next we have the sea bass lettuce cups which was also very delicious, but a very small amount of sea bass. For the price, it would be nice to have more sea bass. The entree was the sturgeon served with gooseberries (We think. Too mild to be cranberries) on top of parsnips mash. Very beautiful and delicious too. We also had a site of their "smashed potatoes". Well we're fairly full by this time so just had a few mouthfuls of potatoes. We took the rest home and fried them the next morning and put fried eggs on top for a great breakfast.

Yelp
Interesting menu, great service, nice environment (though the bench was hard!). We really enjoyed our brunch. My only complaint was the temperature of the room. First it was hot, and I was actually sweating. Then it was cold. It cycled like this the entire meal. We were in a quiet corner up past the bar. So I don't know if this was a problem for the entire restaurant, or just this corner. As much as we enjoyed the meal, I wouldn't want that experience again. Hard for me to know how to rate the restaurant visit because of this. We both had crab cake eggs Benedict. Loved it. Quite spicy. The crab cake and eggs were made perfectly. No English muffin or bread of any kind, and I found that worked for me. Served with a salad with lovely greens and a nice vinegarette, though the salad was over dressed for me. We finished with the beinets we which were delightful. Though I'd like a fork and spoon to eat it with, so as to enjoy that delicious sauce. No expresso machine, so instead of a latte, I had a coffee.

Yelp
We enjoyed our experience here. The happy hour food was small portions but reasonably priced. Our service was good and we sat outside on a nice day.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Finally made it here, it's been on my list forever. I'll note, I didn't realize they only had their brunch menu on weekends so I might need to come back for a dinner meal. We tried 3 entrees. My favorite was the crab cake Benedict (no bread, the crab cake was the bottom) and that was great. The seared tuna salad was meh, it had the best ramen egg I think I've ever had but I don't think it's worth the price, it was kinda sparse, but they get points for the flavor mixes. We also got a chicken fried chicken and waffle thing. I was surprised at the southern creole flavor but I kinda liked it. Needed more gravy with the waffle but good overall.
google avatar

Trevor T.

Yelp
We visited on a Saturday with a reservation. We were quickly seated and staff were super friendly throughout our visit. I had mentioned in our OpenTable reservation that it was an anniversary dinner so they provided us with two glasses of prosecco complimentary which was very nice. For food, we started with a half dozen oysters which were very good, followed by the hamachi collar (very good), octopus (excellent!), and shared the swordfish & grits (I thought it was amazing comfort food, but my partner had trouble tasting the swordfish under the stronger flavors of the grits & sauce). We also had a cauliflower small plate which was just ok--the lowlight of the evening and the only item we didn't finish. We also had the keylime pie desert which was fantastic. Their wine and cocktail selection is very good and we'd come back to focus on those :D
google avatar

Ash G.

Yelp
I'm just gonna add because I can add nothing but more praise, that I HAD to bring people back for more (this is for brunch btw) But the Apple beignets were to die forrrrrr! And I don't even like cooked fruit but also OMG you guys come here and enjoy the food it's so good I'm just gonna add so that the managers can read this, the bartender will not be able to be present for table BEHIND the bar We had a lovely time but the service was not as good as the first time we came, too much much too long for coffee/food orders and refills Otherwise CARRY ON
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
What a great experience! Kirkland has been needing a place like this...and it's on the water! The octopus was incredible...seasoned perfectly. The burrata salad was amazing. So creamy with the right amount of salt. Shrimp and grits was the best dish on the table. And the service was awesome. We will be back again!

Lisa T.

Yelp
The pesto pasta was delicious!! Nice and light but also savory. Wish the portion was bigger for $33. Also the calamari was great too, it had an Asian take on it. Only wish that it wasn't served in a Chinese to go box. Be aware there's a 23% auto grat.
google avatar

Bar U.

Yelp
This place is a joke. I came in today with a friend to grab a meal, and out of nowhere, the manager tells us we're not allowed to be served because I was present at an event here weeks ago where one of their own waitresses lost her mind and started screaming at people like a lunatic. I wasn't the host, didn't do a thing, and had zero involvement. I was just a guest, sitting quietly. Now they're banning people not for what they did, but for simply being in the room? What kind of clown show are they running here? Collective punishment like this isn't just unprofessional it's pathetic, petty, and reeks of incompetence. You're in the hospitality business, but this place clearly has no clue what that word even means. Word of advice if you value respect, fairness, or basic decency don't spend a dime here. They don't deserve your business.
google avatar

Yelp
Great to see another RockCreek location on the Eastside and in such a wonderful location by the water. We go to the Fremont location somewhat regularly for both work and for personal outings - it's one of my favorites for sure even though I'm much more of a FlintCreek kind of guy. =) During a quick fly by in the middle of a ride with a buddy, we did a pretty deep dive into the small plates. They were superb and the posted pictures do not do them justice. The salted cucumber small dish was a surprise favorite - we ordered another one after the first. Service was exceptional and this will be a go-to in the future if the crowds aren't too bad! It is a little loud in the main area on the ground floor. Not sure why. It's not like the tables are packed too tightly and the ceilings are very high. And the Kirkland demographic is a pretty tame one. Far more quiet downstairs.
google avatar

Yelp
Automatic 23% gratuity and staff doesn't even get keep all of it? Per their website: "Beginning in June 2025, Circle Spey Restaurant Group has implemented a 23% service charge in place of traditional tipping. Of the 23 points, 19 points (or 82.61% of the total charge) are distributed directly to our hourly team members and disbursed following our Tip pool and tip out policy, and 4 points (or 17.39% of the total charge) are retained by the house." As someone that is in the restaurant industry, all of the above is trying to purposely to confuse people that don't understand tipping, the restaurant industry or math. Only 19% goes to the front of the house of the 23% automatic gratuity. And the rest goes who knows where because they don't put this information on their website- as they should. Shady business practice. Ok food. Small portions.

Ed G.

Yelp
When accounting for the small portion sizes, the food is twice the expected cost. Most of the food tasted great, 20% did not. Ridiculous mandatory 23% service gratuity.

Yelp
Eric Donnelly I could kiss you on the mouth for this addition to Kirkland. This was the best meal I've had in a very long time, including experience. Our waitress was knowledgeable, and made excellent selections. We actually ended up choosing quite a bit of her recommendations. We started with the bread with bright herb butter (incredible) and the octopus (incredible). We usually share a few bites of everyone's entrees as well, and every single one had us saying "oh my god" out loud. I got the roughey, and the sauce alone? I'd sell my soul for it. Perfectly tender, topped with crab, it's decadent but light. The yellowfin niçoise was also amazing, and the garlicky little kimchi esque bites were addictive. The seabass is one you have to try. It's technically an endangered fish now, but given that theirs is ethically sourced, we tried it. Literally melt in your mouth, orgasmic, explosions of flavor. They maintain the delicacy of the fish while only enhancing flavor. We tried so many cocktails. The kilowatt is one I daydream about. I usually avoid tropical drinks as they contain a bunch of lime that hurts my stomach. Not this one, absolutely incredible. Like a punch to hawaii. So amazing. The French nurse, as someone who doesn't like rose, was delicate, sweet, and delicious. They make a wicked perfect sazerac. The pheasant tail we tried because curiosity, I didn't hate it. It was definitely a drink I've never had before. The umami of it was insane, and was a fun savory twist. For dessert we tried their take on s'mores. It was delicious! They brought it out with a candle as we were celebrating a birthday, it was a nice touch. We were seated right by the door due to a large party, and it wasn't bad at all. Not overly loud, I'd say about as loud as your usual restaurant. There's a second bar downstairs by the bathrooms that had a cool vibe. We will absolutely be frequenting this place.

Yelp
My friend and I dined here a few nights ago and were pretty disappointed. She has been there before and I have been to the Seattle location a few times and we both had very favorable experiences. I was personally really looking forward to this dinner because of the diversity of the menu and my last meal with the seattle location. We tried the shrimp and grits which was flavored well and had a spiciness to it. The grits how ever were not cooked well and had lumps while the shrimp was overcooked. We also tried the mussel bruschetta which was very weird. Large (quarter slice) chunks (not tapenade like the menu said) of vinegary vegetables like carrots, cauliflower and red onion and steamed mussels on a tiny amount of aioli smeared on a large piece of bread. The bread is bought from somewhere else so we can't give credit to RC. It was just ... weird and not in a good way like some of their other items I've tried (again in the seattle location). For our mains my friend had the grouper and this was the only dish that was really well done and stood out. I tried it and we both agreed it was exactly what the menu promised. I had the seafood stew and it was a complete letdown. I order seafood stew pretty often if I see it on a menu because it's usually rich and flavorful and the perfect meal for a cold seattle night. This stew was watery, small portioned (could probably fit into a mug without the shellfish) and underwhelming with flavor. The shrimp was also overcooked to death. The soup itself had no depth of flavor like it should if it's developed properly over time. The shellfish was OK but not only was the shrimp overcooked, one piece had extra shell attached unintentionally. Just an overpriced mess. Our dinner ended up costing 200$ with two cocktails and two glasses of wine. We used the inkind app and saved 50$ but then tip pretty much brought us back to 200$. We both agreed it was wholly disappointing and we left feeling robbed.

Yelp
After visits to Rock Creek Seafood and Spirit-Fremont, we decided to visit the Kirkland location which recently opened. Let's begin by saying, our server Amber N. was exceptional, the food excellently prepared and flavorful, and the ambiance great! Owner/ Executive Chef Eric Donnelly was in the house interacting with diners. We started the evening with the oven roasted Barron Point Oysters, oven roasted Oysters "Brock-a-Fella, and Point Judith Calamari "Kari-Out." Next up for entrees, the rustic organic Pain de Campagne bread, Old Bay Smashed Potatoes (as a side), the Fijian Yellowfin Tuna, Banchan Niçoise Salad, and the grilled Whole Baja Crimson Snapper all taking us on a trip to "flavor town"! The Key Lime Pie for desert was scrumptious!! We've enjoyed the Seattle-Fremont location and can now add the Kirkland spot on our rotation.

Nara K.

Yelp
I was treated to a birthday dinner here and wow the food was very tasty and delicious. There is a lot on the menu and it was very tough to choose a couple of dishes. I look forward to coming back again to try more of the entrees. Definitely come here if you want quality seafood. There is outdoor seating as well as another smaller area and bar downstairs, although it wasn't open when I was there.

Yelp
Cutting right to the chase, the food is outstanding and 5/5... service 5/5... the only downgrade from 5 stars overall is that the space is relatively small and tables are packed together tightly. This makes for a very cramped and loud dining experience! There are only a couple booths available- every other table you can reach out and touch your neighbor. But the food::: * Cocktails: very solid - Sazerac and Old Fashioned were top notch * The Small Plates were the highlight of all food. With 6 people we sampled a lot of options. The Octopus was outstanding- tender & flavorful... Heirloom tomatoes - the sauce was magical... Calamari is a must! It comes in a Chinese foot to-go container and is sooo good - soy ginger with crispy won tons. Yum! * Mains were all excellent - we had Sea Bass, Branzino, Cod, and Sole. No dessert -- know that the prices of the small plates sneak up very fast. Total bill for 6 people was $750!! Next time I will come and sit at the bar with my wife for a drink and couple small plates for a perfect weeknight treat.

Yelp
RockCreek has some potential but unfortunately is plagued by a couple issues that may be the result of the restaurant being new. That being said, this isn't their only location, so it's a little surprising to see so many problems at the Kirkland location. First off, the service was the highlight. Particularly, our server was attentive and offered to even bring us some additional bread to soak up the sauce from the clams. No issues there. But the rest of the experience is just off. Each dish had something about it that was just odd. Nothing that was a complete dealbreaker, but just enough to make notice of. For example, the tuna tartare should have had horseradish listed as the first ingredient, above the tuna. It was so overpowering you really couldn't taste any other aspect of the dish. The calamari was another weird one: no where on the menu does it mention that it is a salad or even that it has lettuce, but it is unmistakably one when it arrives at your table. The oysters and clams were just fine, nothing really stood out about them. The last thing that they need to fix is that happy hour is only applicable to the bar. Of course, literally no where do they say this (including on the website as of April 2024), so only after you are seated and ask about the happy hour menu are you told that you're out of luck. The hostess did offer to let us know if something opened up, but as expected, no one ever came back to follow up with us. Overall, the food was fine, but not particularly impressive for the cost. I can name several other seafood restaurants in the area I prefer, which is the luxury of living in Washington. Fundamentally I don't think there's anything wrong with the place, but there's not a whole lot to rave about either. It may be worth a visit in a couple months or a year once they figure some of these things out.

Yelp
Happy hour is a great time to stop by, especially after watching the sunset at the nearby marina. The food was good, and the service was attentive, hough a bit too much, with constant check-ins every few minutes.

Yelp
Been at RockCreek 3 times! First time at Fremont - I'd pick this location if you wanna do a cute date night, as the ambience and vibe are more in that realm. Kirkland location feels more like a casual sports bar or diner. I did lunch at Kirkland both times. The food is good. But this time we got the egg Benedict and the egg yolk was hard as rock haha. The lunch menu is limited during lunch, but I'd highly recommend: 1. Blackened Fish 2. Malt fries

Yelp
I ordered their filet 8oz steak and it was charred and not much of a taste to it. Their version of potato slices was subpar. Finally, the service was 2 out of 10 rating. I spent $141.00 and I had to flag down my waitress several times because several of the servers were rallying near the bar, socializing. But, the restaurant automatically added a service charge of just over 23% to my bill. So, the service was bad but I am forced to pay a service tip. Is that even logical? Overall, I will not eat there again. Below quality of food, and service.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience at RockCreek! We showed up late on a Sunday night and grabbed a high top in the bar area. Ended up ordering from both the late-night happy hour and dinner menus and everything was fantastic. Sam, our server, was awesome--super friendly and made us feel really cared for. The tuna tartare and grilled octopus were standouts (so good!), and we even made room for dessert. The RockCreek S'mores dessert was ridiculously good! Great vibe, great food. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
I've been here twice now. The first visit was just okay--it was a newer spot at the time, so we decided to give it another try, hoping for a better experience. Unfortunately, it was worse. The noise level was so high that the four of us couldn't hold a normal conversation without constantly saying, "What?" It really took away from the overall experience. Drinks were expensive--$56 for two glasses of mediocre champagne. Entrées came with nothing but the protein, and sides were both limited and overpriced. The wine list was also unreasonably marked up. We go out to enjoy good company and atmosphere, but when you're forced to shout to be heard, it gets frustrating. To top it off, there's a 23% service charge added before tax, which in my opinion feels like an unfair way to take advantage of customers

Yelp
This is a great place! We got the Spanish octopus and it was cooked perfectly. The aioli was a little salty but so good! We got two fish dishes- the Grouper and Chilean Sea bass. While the Chilean Sea bass was cooked perfectly and had a great crust on the outside, nothing can compare to the sauce that the grouper is in. That coconut lime broth was incredible and I wanted to lick the plate. Recommend coming here for the great seafood! Our waitress was great and super friendly and because it was our first time went over the menu and what she recommended. Very helpful.

Yelp
A good dining experience with good quality food. There's two main complaints about this place, it's extremely loud. So loud it's difficult to hear your table conversation. Second, it's way overpriced for what you get. It's good food, but it's not $50/entree good.

Yelp
Another great meal! This place seriously turns out great fresh food. We did not have a rez so joined the waitlist for the bar and ended up getting seated much faster than planned. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Eating at Rock Creek is simply put: fun and delicious. Their staff is talented in the art of service; being both attentive and subtle so you can focus on the ones you love and want to spend time with. I've been to this location a few times and appreciate their hospitality coupled with their excellent choice of cocktails and delicious menu options. It can be a bit loud, but the buzz of energy is infectious and perfect for trying new foods you may not have tried before. There are plenty of raw and cooked seafoods for any palette and I strongly suggest sharing plates so you can try a broad selection. There is one dish I didn't like, based on my own preference, and that was the mussel toast. That wasn't for me. But I've tried nearly everything else and enjoyed all of it, so highly recommend.

Yelp
Food was decent. Overall 7/10 with quality of food. The calamari was tasty but it's really small for the price. Ambiance was like an 8/10, and service was about like 7/10. For our table of 9, our waitress paid minimal attention to us, and then they automatically surcharge you 23% tip if you have a bigger party...

Yelp
Always love trying new places that open up! With that said- take this with a grain of salt as they're clearly working out a bunch of kinks although that doesn't change the glaring opportunity with the layout. The layout- no clue who designed this place but they did this place no favors. The alcohol sits on a ton of shelving which basically blocks most of the view. I'm sorry but you have a perfect view of the sunset and you cover up half the window?? The glasses just sit on the counter mat and it feels oh so dirty. So many alternatives to this bar design. Then there's how you move through the restaurant to get downstairs to the restrooms and how the servers move around tables. Space is tight and pathways are certainly not clear. I get that the restaurant just opened, but you could see remnants of all the unorganized stuff downstairs. The staff is still being trained. It was difficult for the bartender to be attentive to the folks at the bar, make drinks, and to keep up with restocking all the dishes. She had to check with the kitchen on the oysters being offered. They forgot to bring the crab cracker and it was strange that there were no wipes or extra napkins for the Dungeness crab. A huge highlight that a supervisor was on top of rectifying these things and really made the extra effort so I'm sure the staff will get trained up quickly. The food- oysters were bomb and delicious! We had 4 types (Holliewood, wild cat cove, Kumamoto and beach glass) on our platter and I thoroughly enjoyed the Kumamoto. The crab was good but honestly way too messy with the seasoning and the way it was presented. The crudo could've had 50% less sauce, and I was definitely not a fan of the cabbage salad. The drinks were a highlight as well- loved my French nurse #2. Would be back for drinks, but likely not a meal.

Yelp
Food and service was incredible. We ordered the burrata which was super fresh and half a dozen oysters, they were on par with Taylor's, my absolute favorite place and had a really great selection. We also ordered the sea bass lettuce wrap very light and fresh. Would be perfect for a light lunch, the vinaigrette was so good. We also ordered grouper and roughey. The grouper was hands down one of the best meals I've had, truly incredible. The roughey was a giant portion, very decadent and the fish was cooked perfectly. Loved the fried capers! We went all out clearly so it was an expensive night at right around $250 with a generous tip but we would most likely order half that amount on our next dinner. I heard they may be offering outdoor seating in the future, I hope so, the only thing missing from dinner was a view of the water!
