The 38 Best Berlin Restaurants | Eater

"Sisters Xenia and Sophie von Oswald let influences from their Iranian background and childhood in Australia shine through at this Tiergarten breakfast-brunch-and-lunch spot. Like a chilled-out Aussie cafe with a substantial food menu, the place serves hearty sourdough sandwiches that are among Berlin’s best, whether you go for a filling of ham and cheese or tahini-roasted carrots. The Persian stews with crisp saffron rice are a soul-warming delight on a cool Berlin day." - Tim Forster

Rocket + Basil - Review - Schöneberg - Berlin - The Infatuation

"Berlin has a couple of Persian lunch spots, but this one is our favorite. The interiors are bright and perfect for a coffee and computer day, an afternoon snack, or a quick lunch. Rocket + Basil is just a 15-minute bus ride from attractions like Checkpoint Charlie and the Topography of Terror - an area lacking many good food options. The daily dishes are always made of local German ingredients, like slow-cooked chicken with jeweled rice and turkey meatballs in saffron tomato sauce. We also love the baked goods, especially their cardamom buns. photo credit: Ilaria Di Emidio" - Barbara Woolsey

If you're looking for a unique brunch experience in town, Rocket + Basil should be at the top of your list. Inspired by Persian cuisine, this cozy café offers delicious, high-quality, and fresh dishes that are rich in flavor. The atmosphere is inviting and lively, with friendly and efficient staff who are always happy to assist. The café can get quite busy, so be prepared to wait for a table. While you wait, you can sit outside and enjoy a drink, which is a nice touch. Once inside, the space is a bit cramped, but the light colored interior make up for it. The café also offers a nice selection of beverages, including coffee, tea, and their cardamom hot chocolate, which is definitely worth trying. We tried the Tahini Halva Brownie and the Toasted Cheese Sandwich, seasonal salad. Both were excellent—rich, flavorful, and satisfying. The food is fresh, vibrant, and beautifully presented, with the café offering a nice selection of vegan options. However, there is one small downside: the large pile of rucola on top of the sandwich was a bit too much for my taste. It overshadowed the rest of the dish, but that’s just a minor issue in an otherwise fantastic meal. Overall, Rocket + Basil offers a memorable experience with delicious and creative food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend it for anyone craving a fresh, high-quality brunch with nice vegetarian and vegan choices.

This place is a gem, serving up food of "fine dining" quality in a relaxed café atmosphere. The salad of the week was incredible, everything fresh and so delicious. I followed it up with the cardamom mocha and the pistachio rose cake, and they were both some of the best cake and coffee I've ever had. I love this place and will be coming back with friends!

Cute brunch place with a relaxed vibe. The food is fresh, well-prepared, and tastes good, but it’s definitely overpriced for the portion sizes. It’s nice for a one-time visit or a special occasion, but not somewhere I’d go regularly given the cost.

Gorgeous breakfast made with love and friendly staff. Not a critic but the atmosphere is quite cold. We prefer a more cozy place with warmer interior. All the best.

Rocket & Basil is one of my favorite brunch spots in Berlin. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the food is fresh and creative, and I love that I can bring my dog. It’s perfect for a relaxed weekend morning or catching up with friends. The pancakes, brownies and rice dishes are a must!

I hit this place for lunch as I picked it from an instagram post on best restaurants in Berlin. To me two things stood out: the efficient, sweet and hardworking staff and the freshness of the food. The dish I ordered was generously covered with rocket leaves. I guess that is to go by the name of the place. The food tasted very fresh. The blood orange cake I ordered was quite crumbly. Overall, taste of the food is average. The restaurant makes an impression of a spacious place due to wall colours and seating arrangements. Quite nice.

Great cafe. I really wouldn’t have expected something so nice off such an ugly main street. We had the sausage roll & banana bread which were both amazing, and the Bloody Mary with dill vodka was a hit! Would highly recommend and can’t wait to visit again.

Google
Always pleasant and always busy. The food is in a Persian direction and always on the money when it comes to vibrant, delicious and healthy dishes. They offer great sandwiches and probably make the best sausage roll in Berlin. The service is friendly, the food is great and have always been satisfied.

Yelp
The halva brownie is enough to bring me back. I had the beans on toast as well, and it was good-- difficult to figure out how to eat, but the flavor was unique and delicious.

Yelp
Loved the service. Two sweet ladies. The price value could be better. 25€ for two dishes seemed a lot for us. The dishes were tasty and thoughtful but not specially outstanding. We'd not come back as there are better healthy alternatives and cheaper options. The summer roll is a bit sweet. The salad had way too much chickpeas. It was purely zucchini chickpeas and a bit of salad.

Yelp
Delicious food with vibrant colors and a creative Middle-Eastern twist. The fresh-pressed orange juice came in an adorable little jug. Breakfast, lunch, coffee and desserts. Self-serve water!
