Nice hole in the wall joint. Duck noodle soup was absolutely flavorful. It tasted like the duck fat itself was included in the broth. The noodles were an excellent complement and the strips of duck were tender and nicely portioned. 10/10

We stumbled upon an absolute gem upon our recent visit to Hollywood. Our waitress was very kind and seemed pleased that we were going to enjoy lunch in her restaurant. We ordered the radish cakes and basil pork with rice. Both dishes were phenomenal, well-seasoned, fresh, and appropriate portions. Would highly recommend this establishment to anyone! Be sure to bring cash, as this is a cash-only restaurant as of the time I wrote this review. 10/10

The best Thai beef stew noodle in the world! We just got back from Thailand, eating great food everywhere. Still no beef stew noodle made as well and with as much care as Rodded.also love eating ham hock w basil ka pow w crispy fried egg. The best Thai coffee anywhere ❤️💕❤️

I love the Daikon Cakes here. Soooo good and a rare find. Not anywhere else in LA as I’ve seen. Good soup too. Duck noodle and coconut Tom Kha are my favorites. The owner and his wife are super nice. Small spare, simple place. Not fancy but I like the owners a lot.

The best hidden gem in Thai Town. This restaurant has been open for over 30-40 ish years now. I have been coming here since I was a child. I don't go often as whenever I'm in the area, they are closed. I believe they're now closed on Mondays and Wednesdays. Everytime I go the owner still remembers me throughout the 20ish years! Parking is difficult as you will have to street park. You can do either metered parking or try to find parking in the neighborhood. A lot of people sleep on this place, it's not as "trendy" but it is real, homegrown, authentic Thai food. They have the BEST duck noodles and fried leek cake. They are best known for their duck noodles, give this place a try!

Not a good experience. We had gone for the great Thai restaurant Pailin next door, but it was closed on Sunday. Since we were hungry, we ended up at Rodded. We ordered: Thai salad with beef. It was OK. The beef was not flavorful, the sauce was too sweet. Pad Kee Maow (Spicy Noodles) with pork - the noodles had good char - wok hey. But other than that, nothing memorable. Beef with mint leaves over rice - most of the beef was uncooked, and flavorless. No sticky rice with mango dessert. We did not finish, and did not ask for boxes to bring back. Restroom was awful! Only one other table was occupied. Not one of the better experiences in Thai town!

First of all... Rodded is CLOSED every MONDAY and THURSDAY now. Make sure call before you come! They might change the schedule again . Food is always the BEST if you want the DUCK SOUP authentic and taste Thai food and 'home kitchen'. Egg noodle (Rice stick noodles) duck separate soup is our family favorite here since 30years ago. Taste is always the same and we are always craving it almost everyweek ! Pan fried egg noodles or rice stick noodles. Which is basically Pad Se Ew but just change what kind of noodles you prefer. Rodded Crispy pork belly with basil is also best ! Side dish usually we have fried wonton and shrimp balls. Surely don't forget with thai ice tea. Give a try to order above dishes. Their service is always special ! You'll feel home. Very friendly and family oriented. They never forgot their return customer. The only concern is the parking space. But we are always able to find the parking spot around the neighborhood or meter parking.

I'm so thankful to my friend for introducing me to this place. I took my kids to get the duck noodles with "seng llek" (little noodles) and thai tea and they loved it. The soup is packed with rich flavors. Just a heads up that the duck noodles come with cilantro. The owners are super friendly and welcoming. The service is amazing. Cash only. I think there was just a fan in the restaurant. It can get pretty hot. Please dress accordingly. Be sure to call beforehand as the owners are older and sometimes close early or open later. Parking can be hard to find, but it is definitely worth driving around the block a bunch of times.

What happened to this restaurant? ... I have been coming here well over 17 years and this has always been my favorite Thai spot. I came today ready for their delicious seafood soup and they "don't sell seafood soup anymore" ??? What??? Where is the lady (owner) this is such a tragic discovery. She's put a lifetime of work and love in this place for it to have gone to the wrong hands. I will miss the taste of her food and memories over the years this place is plain and just another Thai place now nothing is special anymore.

Right away you know this place means business when it comes to food, no English writing on the big board and that's how you know it's going to slap. Get the fat noodles with duck. Sweet sour spicy savory. Thai iced tea was good too. The server lady was very friendly and kept refilling my water which I certainly needed as it was getting spicy. What a nice place. Someone posted food from this restaurant and it looked so good!! so i decided to try. Not a fancy kind of restaurant and it looks like its owned and operated by a family. We order: - Pork belly with basil over rice (dont forget to add fried egg!). We ask them to make it spicy and and IT IS VERY SPICYYY HAHA Love this dish! pork is fatty and flavorful! I love the strong flavor of this dish hehe - Duck noodle soup. I choose the small noodle but they have like 5 types of noodle there. This is my fav! The soup is so comforting and I love the crunch of the super crispy duck skin. Duck broth is so good as it has this sweet flavor from the duck. - Duck over rice. Duck has tender meat and the sauce is pretty good - Fried shrimp ball, a MUST ORDER appetizer! It doesnt look as good but omg it smells and tastes great

My go to restaurant for duck palo. I'll typically order a whole duck deboned they'll provide the soup base, and sauces. Put it all on top of rice and bam.

Only for the duck noodle, the soup was Herby and delish! Duck was tender And good! Horfun noodle or glass noodle was perfect! Pad Thai, pad see ew, Thai boat noodle was not good. Thai tea and shrimp cake and beef balls were good!

The best duck noodle soup I have ever had in the states. Umami broth, tender duck meat in the perfect slices and the noodle cook in the right way I liked. Fried shrimp ball is a must try!! And crispy pork basil is good as well. The staff was friendly. Definitely go back when I revisiting LA.

I always come back for fried banana. The best I ever had. Also, Duck noodle soup is yummy. The customer service is excellent. The old guy and the old lady are very kind. I wish they open everyday.

This Thai restaurant definitely gives off authentic feels. It doesn't get crowded so I was seated really quickly. The staff was friendly and helped me decide what to order. I decided to get the fried pork balls and duck over rice. The fried pork balls came out super hot with a great crispy outer layer and had soft minced pork meat inside. It was quite tasty. The duck over rice had tender duck meat over a bed of soft rice and cake with a sauce that was very flavorful. I put it all over the rice and it was delicious! The food was flavorful and they are generous with rice in their rice dishes!

I came here many moons ago, and since then, my palette has matured (I hope) and overall my perception of food has widen. This establishment is Chinese/Thai. Their "boat" noodles are not actually boat noodles because I don't think there's a mixture of pork or cow blood in the broth. This clears up a lot of things. The beef noodles here come with a very clear and clean tasting broth. I opted for the everything bowl ($9.75) which comes with beef ball, sliced beef + beef stewed. The stewed beef, I'm pretty sure, is a Chinese take because I've never had it before, and when I did eat it, realized it'd been missing in my life. It was SO tender. Rodded's beef noodles is a rendition of a beloved Thai noodle and I am a fan. My sister and I also shared: -roast pork with basil over rice ($11) (I think): this dish was incredibly good. The pork skin was crispy and the pork itself was so fatty and flavorful - 10 out of 10 experience. -fried shrimp ball ($9 for 5): deep fried shrimp ball served with spicy sauce. This was great. It's a ball with compacted shrimp that has been deep fried. Incredible. I am so glad I came back after so many years. My tastebuds have matured and I have a real appreciation for this place. Ps. Cash only.

I've been coming to Rodded for over 30+ years. That long....! We know the owners, we love their noodle soups. As of recently (probably in the last 5 years), they've raised their prices to over $8.50 for noodle soup and their portions have gotten tons smaller. Less noodles, less meat. Shame shame shame. We love you Rodded. Noodles are cheap, don't skim on the food! I know the owners will never read this, I just want them to know.

My mom used to take me here 25+ years ago when we had to do shopping in Thai town. Super glad to see it's still here. Happy to see the mom & pop cove and that they're still playing the Thai radio (podcasts now?). Brings me back to my childhood. Had the duck noodle and it was alright; no fuss but wish the noodles had more chewiness. The Chinese five spice in the broth could have been a little stronger for my preference but it was still good. Considering the price, I think it was fine. Auntie and Uncle running the place we're super nice. Need to come back and try the leek dumplings.. I've been craving it since I moved back from Bangkok and it's a pain to find.

Best Thai duck noodle soup I've ever had. The broth is addictive. I've been here several times and I always get the duck noodle soup, with thick noodles. Thai iced tea and coffee are very good too, ice is perfect. It's on a corner a couple blocks or so from Thai Patio plaza. Street parking, which can be difficult, I usually have to walk a couple blocks. Worth it!

Authentic. Literally felt like I was back in Thailand. Their Thai Iced Tea is refreshing and is among the best ever! They use real tea and it shows. It's a lot less overly sweet and you can really taste the tea. We tried many dishes, and all of them were great. The Spicy Squid Salad has a great cold calamari, and the Duck Noodle Soup the best! Soy sauce-based broth, tender pieces of duck, and a choice of 5 different types of awesome noodles. We went with the egg noodles, and they were the perfect al dente, but I want to try them all! They also make a mean Hainan Chicken. Savory and blanched well, though the rice was bland. There's a Beef with Flat Noodles that comes with tender beef and a thicker sauce, which is surprisingly different from the lighter Pad Kwuar Kai with chicken and egg. Cash only, but you don't need much. Prices are reasonable, and the portions are just right. Family style strongly encouraged.

Great service & delicious, authentic, Thai food! Walked in for lunch on a Saturday and was greeted within seconds. Was able to sit where I wanted. The restaurant is About 15 to 17 tables in size. There are tables that can accommodate 1 to 10 people. All of the specials on the board are written in Thai. FOOD: is served quickly to the table. Delicious flavor and very hot and fresh. Lots of meat and vegetarian dishes available. Soup is nice as you can choose your noodle type. Noodle dishes are authentic. PARKING: A lot of street parking in area most to be 1 hour long. So bring those quarters, dimes, and Nickels. TIP: All items are menu are to be paid in CASH ONLY so leave those credit cards and check books at home ;)

Randomly came across this establishment while I was searching for a place in eat in LA with my friends. I love duck. I love noodles. And this place is known for their duck noodles so there is absolutely no reason for me to not try this place. We came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and it wasn't that busy. We were seated right away and given menus. I've been to plenty of Thai restaurants in Las Vegas but I've never been to one quite like Rodded. It wasn't modern like many of the other Thai restaurants. It seemed very authentic and true to their culture. On the black board is typically where their specials are and a good 99% of that board is dominated by the Thai language. Is this odd to me? No. I love it. But I do suggest you look at their menu if you don't know Thai. Their menu has English -- thank goodness haha! I came here for the duck noodles and apparently so did everyone else. Our whole table got duck noodles! You are able to choose what type of noodle you want it to go with: egg noodles, wide flat rice noodles, thin flat rice noodles, and a few other options. I got it with the wide flat rice noodles! I also got an order of their thai iced tea. The portion size is a little on the small size for their duck noodles. For me, it's the perfect portion because I don't typically eat a lot. For my fatass friends though, it probably wasn't enough. But no biggie -- we visit LA to eat so we can always eat/snack again! The soup base that they use for their duck noodles has a great amount of duck flavor, which is awesome. However, it's a little on the sweeter side of things. So, if they turned the sweetness down and add more savory elements, I think it would be perfect. The thai iced tea was actually very good. It's not overly sweet like a lot of thai iced teas that I'v had. It had a huge amount of tea flavor. Definitely recommend this! The service is also pretty awesome too. They're all very nice to you. The establishment is cash only though and when you want to pay, it's easier to just go up to the cashier. It's not because they're ignoring you though. We've noticed a lot of regulars just go up to pay whenever they're ready so it may just be how they are. This would definitely be a place I'd come to if I lived in the area. If I'm not in the area, I definitely wouldn't drive through the LA traffic jams for this. Worth a try though!

This spot reminds me a lot of Thailand and is close in-spirit to what you'd find in some random neighborhood in Bangkok. But the food here isn't good. We got the steamed leek cakes ($5.25) to start. These looked like little alien rice saucers and were boiling hot. By the time they'd cooled down to a reasonable temperature, the rice coating turned into messes that stuck to the plate, breaking apart into shards on your fork. The interior filling was bland and the dipping sauce that came with the dish was sweet, to my dismay. We also got the rad na ($7). This also had a sweet sauce, which isn't right at all. Lastly, the chinese broccoli and tofu ($7) was nearly identical to the rad na, minus the noodles and gooey sauce. If you're looking for better Thai food in the area, go to Thai Pepper on Franklin, Original Thai BBQ on Hollywood or Jitlada on Sunset.

Gave Rodded a shot because they look authentic. My Tom Yum noodle soup with shrimp was ok. The soup base is not bad but the portion was tiny and there wasn't enough ingredients in there compared to the trational Tom Yum noodle soup. It was missing little stuff like ground porks, Cha Chiu (red pork) slices, fish and shrimp balls, etc. I was very disappointed compared to Pa Ord Noodle on Sunset Blvd. I did like their fried leek cake. Very authentic. But again, small ass portions. I also didn't care for the sauce that came with the dish. I ask for the Thai fish sauce instead. I love that they have the chrysanthemum drink. It was perfect. Light fragrant and delicious. I'm may come back for their leek cake but not for their Tom Yum noodles.

- Fried rice w/ tofu = compact brown rice that was fully flavored. Had plenty saucey moisture & I didn't feel the need to douse it w/ soy sauce. 4/5 - Coconut Soup = just decent. Could be more fatty, citrusy, and spicy. 3/5

I love Thai food, but I've never had AMAZING Thai food. Or at least, not one that is consistantly amazing. That is, until I found Rodded. How great is it? Well, my mom came to visit me from Thailand for 5 days and she had to come eat here 3 times. It's that good. What really hooked her was the daikon dish ( - kanom pakgard). She says that even in Thailand, it's hard to find nowadays, and Rodded does it really well. Every dish here, actually, is very well made. From the most basic of Thai dishes such as the krapao to the duck noodles and the tom yum, everything is delicious. And the best part? Every dish has the home-y that's just so comforting. Plus, the lady who owns the place is suuuper nice and friendly.

Worst experience for our first meal on New Year's Day. Repeatedly ignored while everyone that spoke Thai was served first. We left after waiting for over half an hour, meanwhile several tables that came in after us were served first. I guess they don't appreciate blended families here if you don't speak Thai. Dismissed us when we tried to get their attention. Racism comes in many forms. Very insulting since we've been supporting this place for years. Probably haven't been here in 6 months.. but, we would pick up food when it was empty and leave a generous tip to support. Also, none of the workers were wearing face masks, so actually glad we didn't eat there. :|

This small place in the corner has one of the best duck soups ever. The broth isn't really oily. It's more flavorful. I love the atmosphere. Parking can be tricky but you can make it work on a weekday. The Thai iced coffee tastes like 90% milk lol The portion of the duck soup was enough for me but may not be enough for someone who eats a lot. It's cash only. Service is pretty good.

Really good duck noodle soup. The broth really pops. Tons of flavor without being too salty and a definite sweet undertone. The restaurant could definitely have used an air conditioning system. Something about eating steaming hot duck soup while sweating in a 86 degree restaurant is kind of a buzz kill. The duck tasted like it had been previously frozen, but it was also a really inexpensive duck soup - so beggars can't be choosers. I will probably not go back but I am glad I tried it. Very good squid. The deep fried banana tasted like something you would get at the county fair haha incredibly unhealthy but devilishly yummy

This place is the destination for duck noodles. I usually get the Duck Noodle Soup with egg noodles with medium heat levels. The broth is a deep black, and the duck is wonderful. I drive up from Long Beach to get these noodles. The way you order it is simple. You pick the type of noodle you like whether small or thick noodles or egg noodles, etc. They are doing dine in now, but I ordered to go. Parking can get difficult in this area, so be aware.

The best Thai food ever! My favorite is sliced beef flat noodle soup, extra noodles, medium heat and shrimp cake Flavor of the broth is always the same, authentic and genuine. Service always friendly and fast Owners remember us and greet our family as their own. Love coming here. Finding parking is a little difficult but worth the trouble.

Pretty good Thai food! Authentic. But right next door is Pailin Thai - which I like better. Rodded gets 4 stars, the menu is a bit different than most thai restaurants and if Pailin is crowded, you can find a good meal here!

The best duck soup and Thai boat noodle. This restaurant has been here for 30+ years under the same family. Also the best Thai fried bananas, do not go anywhere else.

The last time came to the restaurant, I must've been around 10 years old and stepping into the restaurant, I have vague memories of being there before. The tables, walls and booths look very familiar. The restaurant interior doesn't look very different. What I remember most about the restaurant was the food. We would fly here from SF because we loved the noodles. So here we are over 30 years later, let's give it a go. We ordered fried tofu, Thai crab rolls called hoy joh and the Thai daikon cake. The appetizers were ok. I wish there was more crab in the crab rolls and more daikon cake in the serving but all were good. I would give them 3 stars for the appetizers. The noodles were the definite shining stars!! The duck noodle soup was absolutely amazing. The soup had so much umami flavor and the stewed duck flavorful. The beef Boat noodle soup was fantastic as well. The beef was cooked to the point of tenderness and deep in flavor. The noodles had great texture and likely fresh noodles. I would give both noodle dishes 5+ stars for sure. The service was a little on the slow side but the noodle was worth the wait. We definitely will be back and won't let another 30 years pass.

Haven't been back in over 10 years due to bad experience, but I was out numbered so I reluctantly went. This place is considered an institution to Thai people and well known for their duck noodles but I'm always iffy about their cleanliness most of time. Highlights: Daikon cake stir fried with egg, green onion, and beansprout. Umami! Spicy Basil Ham Hock is another great dish that is a must try. Pork is tender and I loved the soft pork skin that was included in the dish. So good.

Tried it because the Thai restaurant next door was closed on that day. I ordered some roast duck over rice which came in under two minutes of ordering, the meat was thinly sliced but reheated on the microwave evidently. Won't be going back. Never trust a cook that relies on microwave as sole source of heat.

Incredible authentic Thai in a clean yet divey ambiance with plenty of seating. Interesting inexpensive menu with plenty of variations of every Thai classic you could hope for. Service is a bit slow, but this is a small operation, and the quality of food is well worth the wait. My Pad See Ew tofu ($8) was delicious. Very flavorful without being too oily. The tofu was perfectly seasoned and I loved the noodles, which were more of a thin flat noodle than I am used to. All ingredients tasted very fresh, and overall very well made. Rodded closes a bit earlier than other restaurants in this area, so keep in mind that they are only open until 8pm. An excellent choice in Thai town for a casual lunch or dinner. Cash only!

Rodded has been there before the creation of Thai Town. As one of the staple landmark restaurants of Thai Town, this particularly eatery specifically caters to the Thai palette. You'll know right away by the ethnic demographic of the patrons. The majority of the patrons here are Thai, so you know you're going to the right place when it's target audience is the true authentic Thai taste. My last visit here was on a Sunday and they were missing a chef. There was no one stationed at the stir-fry section so it took a while for the food to come out. They told us in advance, and we were pretty patience. The flavor of the noodle was superb. I ordered the duck noodle and I loaded it with a bunch of their ground chili. Yum! My only qualms with the place is that they are very stingy with the portion sizes of their thin noodles. It's almost half the amount that you'd get at Pho restaurants, or dare I say it, Pa Ord Noodles. If you like duck, I highly recommend the Duck Noodle Soup!

a small mom & pop restaurant. amazing food, none of their dishes have ever failed me. from the shrimp ball to pad kee mao to duck over rice to fried banana. open for togo only during covid. call ahead 10 minutes and they make your food fresh. id drive 30 minutes any day any time from where i live just to eat at this place. will i come back? with no doubt i will.

while I was eating we saw 4 different cokroches. later on as I was commenetimg on my discusting experience 2 friends told me that this restaurant is notorious for having a dirty kitchen and cockroaches abundant. DO NOT EAT THERE
