When visiting the Rogano it was a very relaxing atmosphere. The waitress that served us was very helpful and attentive. The meal was lovely and the cocktails went down a treat. Would highly recommend the skiitake haggis dish. Wasn't my usual way to have haggis but was unusual and very delicious.

Excellent - it's a little dates and could do with being freshened up. The food was excellent - the Rockefeller and Mornay oysters were incredible. The hot seafood platter was spectacular. Also the deserts was lovely.

Deserves way more than 5 stars! Old school posh decor that makes it feel like an immersive experience into the 80’s but it really works! The food was excellent! Best scallops I’ve ever tasted. Reliable tasty oysters.

Had a fabulous two course lunch coffee, teas & petit fours with family. The staff were excellent and served well, special mention to our server as it was only his 3rd day on the job. Very well done. We were complimented on our choices from the menu. It was a tough decision to choose just one meal so return visits are in order. We were given plenty if time to read the menus and decided to skip starters and have desserts instead. Food is cooked to order so we didn't mind a shirt wait and filled than time with some delicious warmed flavoured bread rolls, onion and olive. Scottish salmon fillet, Scandanavian cod and pork loin arrived, well presented, excellently cooked and tasted amazing. Desserts of Raspberry Panna Cota, brownie with vanilla ice cream and an orange & Almond cake with syrup and orange curd ice cream, all were beautiful. Somehow we managed to have space for the petit fours, coffee & teas. The whole experience ensured we all had a fabulous time. Looking forward to returning.

This restaurant lived up to my expectations. Classic Art Deco style. Great atmosphere with attentive and friendly waiters. Fresh fish and seafood, excellent cuisine and wine selection. Highly recommend.

Google
Awful cuisine, excellent service. Beware of the out-of-menu suggestions, not included in the menu. Cod overcooked and salty, poor arancini. NEVER order the panna cotta. The chef killed my favourite desert. 63 £ with a regular half bottle of Bujolais.

Really well done food - both in taste and plating! OMG - the Halibut Mac & Cheese was amazing.

Went for my birthday and had a lovely meal great drinks in a really relaxed atmosphere. So chilled had the best time. Matahari and Rockefeller oysters are a must.

Yelp
This place is interesting, but I think a little more hyped up than it should be. Definitely has great ambiance and has an outdoor seating area, a bar seating area, a fine dining area as well as a bar downstairs. You can make reservations at all of the locations except the upstairs bar. The food was really good, the Eton mess was delicious and my friend had the fish soup which was outstanding. I also highly recommend the mussels. We tried the gin slow fizz , which was incredible, and I highly recommend it. However, while the food was good it wasn't very memorable except for the gin fizz and the Eton mess. I would also say that the wait staff was incredibly good with us except for one person who was a little pushy. They came over and described the drinks, helped us with recommendations on size and portions and were on top of our table for refills on bread and water. Probably would recommend this place for booze and dessert. Its in Merchant City so when you're in the area, good stop to have a client dinner or drinks with a friend at the bar. It's not super loud so you can have a conversation without trouble. We also managed to get a booth pretty easily

Yelp
Rogano closed now. Had great Scottish chefs yrs ago then turned into cowboy Joe. Bought in frozen stuff. Bones in fish etc. It was a champagne bar. Round the corner now is a place called the ivy in Buchan Street. You need to book as its jumping. I really recommend it. 100% it's not cheap. Decor is lovely and ceiling is nice too. Staff are brilliant too.

Eric M.

Yelp
We stopped here to grab some oysters and beers on a random evening throughout the week. Rogano is located just off the main tourist strip in Glasgow, and has an outside patio that's good for people watching, and a pretty large inside dining space. Rogano (I think) is the oldest restaurant in Glasgow, which is cool. We ordered oysters and drinks and we were disappointed both with the wine and the beer selection, especially for a restaurant of this size and name recognition. The oysters were alright and might be good depending on how you're feeling, and to be fair we've been spoiled lately with really great seafood in other locations, but we certainly weren't impressed. The staff were friendly. If you're looking for food and you're nearby you can check this place out if you're feeling it, but you can probably find better restaurants elsewhere.

Yelp
I've actually been to Rogano and Cafe Rogano a couple of times before, but my Cafe Rogano experience was tainted by horseradish (worst. food. ever) so I was keen to give it another shot. We'd received vouchers for Christmas for a main meal for two at Cafe Rogano (downstairs). We booked quite far in advance and had a nice corner table for two and were well looked after by the staff who are very professional. I had the prawn & crab cocktail for starter. This was presented in a crab shell and was delicious - a generous serving for starter and very tasty. For main I had the fish pie - the menu was pretty light on description, so I wasn't sure if it came with mash or a pastry top. I was impressed with it when it arrived as it was a pastry top in the shape of a fish was a little unusual! Overall I really liked the fish pie although it was searing hot at first. The veg (brocolli and potatoes) were really tasty as well. Overall, we had a lovely meal here and were well looked after. Cafe Rogano has an old-world glamour to it - it's old fashioned without being dowdy, and is such a classic restaurant. We've been saying for years that we need to have a proper meal upstairs at Rogano so that's next on our list. Some restaurants definitely treat you differently (read: worse) for being on a voucher but Cafe Rogano didn't at all - service was professional and friendly.

Gordon M.

Yelp
A special occasion calls for a 'special meal' and so it was that we found ourselves at Rogano ordering cocktails whilst we waited for our table. One super smooth gin martini for me, and a zingy, punchy margarita for the lady and we were whisked to our table. I've been in a couple of times for a cheeky champagne cocktail but never to the restaurant. It looks just as you imagined, like stepping back in time, which thankfully doesn't mean it looks tired and dated, but properly classy and old in a wonderfully retro way. I'll start with the service as, in this class of establishment I expect it to be top notch and we weren't let down. The waiters serving our area (two of them) were friendly, helpful, attentive to detail and had a sixth sense of when to wander by (to top up our wine glasses) and when to stay distant. What a difference it makes! Double points for pointing out a better wine to suit our meal than our choice which was also £7 cheaper! :) But what of the food! I hear you cry. Well, fear not, the food was sublime! As we sat we received a salmon pate sampler, which was very tasty but not as good as the amuse-bouche of crab bisque, rich, light and with a real double hit of flavours it certainly woke up my tastebuds! I started with scallops on black pudding, four large, plump sweet scallops on a sliver of black pudding which gave enough savoury bite to the dish without overpowering it. Clare had the dressed crab which was delicious. For mains I treated myself to the fillet of beef, medium rare, which ... well I'm not sure how else to describe it but fellow steak lovers will know what I mean when I say that each bite induced a small mouthgasm! Succulent, smooth, and perfectly cooked, I could quite happily have just eaten that, but the thick cut chips were great, crispy but floaty light inside, and the thick slabs of meaty mushroom brought the whole dish together while a drizzling of hollandaise added that perfect zing. Clare opted for the catch of the day, turbot, which was very tasty and quite a meaty fish. The sample I tried was a tiny bit boney but I'm very fussy (and it's why I rarely ordered fish, I have a bit of an 'ick' thing about bones!). The accompanying samphire and shrimp dressing certainly helped bring it back to the 'sea', the crispy skin an extra treat! We were both starting to feel full so, for once, sensibly decided not to opt for a dessert. Clare doesn't have much of a sweet tooth and I'm always a little wary of being let down, especially as the rest of the meal had been so utterly divine. What we hadn't accounted for was the waiting staff picking up on the fact it was our (first) anniversary and so when the petit four arrived, with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate on the plate, it topped off a wonderful wonderful meal. Great food made from high quality ingredients, a wonderful bottle of wine, and some very very well drilled waiters (did I mention the smooth coordination as we switched between courses, after a well timed wait, one would swoop our dirty dishes away and the other was slide our next courses into place, a beautiful gastronomic ballet!) I probably should fault it for price, it is expensive but it's an institution and it's not like they pretend to be anything other than a high end restaurant. And given that they pull that off with aplomb, I can only give this five stars. If not more!!

Paul C.

Yelp
Where can you start with Rogano? Well despite its Italian name, Rogano is a Glaswegian icon. We're talking Billy Conolly-washing-down-a-roll-and-pie-with-a-glass-bottle-of-Irn-Bru Glaswegian here. That doesn't mean it's a hole in the wall proprietor of the deep fried mars bar, but rather a decadent art-deco 1930s restaurant which oozes timeless class. Situated just off Buchanan Street, Rogano has provided the bold and beautiful of Glasgow with stylishly luxurious surroundings to enjoy oyster and cocktails since 1935. With a design based on the elaborate Cunard 'Queen Mary' liner, Rogano also offers a slightly cheaper cafe and bar, but it's the restaurant which you really must visit once in your life. Cheap it is not, this is the sort of places students are taken when they graduate with overwhelmingly impressive marks as opposed to visit for lunch inbetween lectures, but you are paying for the quality. After all, this place is not the oldest surviving restaurant in the city for nothing and the fresh seafood could quite conceivably be the reason we were put on this earth. Indeeed, if Mad Men were set in Glasgow as opposed to New York, you can bet your bottom buck Don and co would be smoking (pre-smoking ban of course), drinking and eating in here more than anywhere else. Bellissim...I mean, pure brilliant!

Gillian M.

Yelp
The oldest surviving restaurant in Glasgow with a strong reputation, I came here for a catch-up lunch with my mum, aunt and uncle. We went downstairs to cosy Cafe Rogano where the walls are littered with pictures (Art Deco-style) amongst the matching traditonal decor. It was very quiet and so perfect for a long, leisurely lunch - there was no pressure to rush away. Infact the service was excellent - the staff were so vigilant and attentive. We had a chilled bottle of water in an ice bucket (nice touch) which staff kept coming to to top up our glasses when need be. Not a big fan of seafood, I chose risotto which was so very tasty. On arrival I thought the portions were small but the risotto was so rich and filling that I couldn't finish it! Certainly worth a visit especially if you like seafood (although their menu caters for all).

Yelp
A late Sunday Lunch with the wee cuz I had bought a voucher two mains for £19.00 from there Cafe Menu. It was not extensive but emough to choose from, I ordered a steak wich had a £5.00 supplement and the wee cuz had Ox cheek. We had some drinks beer for me and rose wine for the wee yin. My steak was well presented and was cooked to perfection, nice chunky chips and little vine of tomatoes, unfortunetly the wee cuz was a bit disappointed with the Ox Cheek it was fairly tough, but never having had it before she was not sure what to expect. When the server came to collect our plates she explaind that it should have been very tender and took it back to the Chef. As he was not happy with it either they offered us a complimentary dessert, wee cuz had a delicious sicky toffee pudding and I had a medley of sorbet. A wee Cocktail each and we were ready for hitting the town, this will not stop us going back to see if they can get their 5 stars back.

Yelp
Lovely classy fish restaurant in city centre. Original 50s style Art Deco features makes it quite unique. Excellent service.

Eleanor M.

Yelp
I absolutely love the Rogano, it's somewhere I'd urge everyone to try as it really is something special. The Art-Deco style and unique vibe makes you feel like you've been transported back in time to the 1930's. Upstairs is the oyster and cocktail bar which has such an air of grandeur that you feel like you're in another world - and that's before you've started working your way through the extensive cocktail menu. Downstairs the Café Rogano does amazing meals, their speciality being seafood but they have other dishes if fish isn't your thing. The last time I was here red snapper was the fish of the day so I opted for that, it was delicious but I did feel a little bit guilty as the poor guy still had his head on. Thankfully the guilt was short lived and was followed by the best sticky toffee pudding I've ever eaten. The prices are a bit steep but I guess that's all part of the experience and the quality of the food here is definitely worth the money. I can't think of anything negative to say about the Rogano, the only downside is leaving when you have to step back into reality - and the rain.

Karen H.

Yelp
I was in Cafe Rogano on Sunday for dinner with my Dad and had a great meal. We had oysters Rockefeller to start and they were delicious, if you order them make sure you have some bread to dip in the shells. I then had sea bass and this was cooked to perfection and our server checked that I was aware of this when ordering. I was highly impressed with the waiting staff who have obviously undergone extensive training and were very knowledgeable, attentive and courteous. I had never been before but can't wait to go back and think I'll try the restaurant next time.

Andrew C.

Yelp
For lovers of Art Deco and seafood, the Rogano is the place to visit in Glasgow. Refitted in the same style as the ocean liner the "Queen Mary", this seafood restaurant will take you back the opulence of the 1930's. Don't expect to stay long with the Glasgow city centre prices at their height in this very central place. It is worth the slight dent to your wallet to see the interior but I would suggest that you move on after drinking the ambience and the extortionately priced alcohol. Tourists fill this place due to its high visibility and location in between Buchanan Street and the Glasgow Museum of Modern Art. Champagne and wines are the specialties of the house with bottles of Louis Roederer Cristal going for 225 quid each. There are less expensive things to drink here but you are paying the price for the location.

Joel D.

Yelp
Seriously as good as it gets. I highly recommend. My only complaint which has nothing to do with anything is that I got zero bars on my mobile phone there. I have no idea why. It must have been because the food so incredible that it made Rogano's impervious to cell phone tower radiation. (smile) We had a large group of about 20 and I heard not a complaint about the food. Many had the sole and raved about it. I took the waiter's recommendation and went with the Sea Bass - it was fantastic and I would order it again. Wonderful old world atmosphere and spot on service. Well done.

Des D.

Yelp
Classic Glasgow restaurant, while in town if you haven't visited either as a visitor or local you should do so at least once in your life. Has kept is art deco look, which makes the experience all the more worth while. A liitle frayed around the edges and in need of a little TLC. Staff are very friendly, well turned out and service was generally could, but could do with some daily training in how to retain information like the daily specials. Food, especially seafood, is excellent. Wine list is good I'll return next time in Glasgow.

Adam B.

Yelp
I think that the Rogano Oyster Bar is a wonderful restaurant; I know that many people are less convinced so I shall try and elaborate why I think it is so great. A little bit of history for you Rogano first opened its doors some seventy five years ago and has since been heralded as one of the finest, best known seafood restaurant in Britain. The stunning art deco interior takes its influence from the Queen Mary Ocean liner built in the Glasgow docks. As mentioned in the other reviews the restaurant is rather expensive as it is very high end, £28 for a fillet steak, £35 for the lobster, £9.50 for a glass of Champaign, the reason for this is because they can. For many Rogano isn't a regular restaurant it's a special occasion restaurant, the food is super, really great, the service is excellent and the surroundings truly astonishing and I think that if the opportunity is there for you to try Rogano then you really should but be prepared to pay for what you receive and enjoy it.

Joy H.

Yelp
I have never tasted oysters this fresh. Honestly. They tasted as though someone had just plucked them from the ocean and shucked them moments before bringing them out. Amazing. Anthony Bourdain was here when he filmed so I knew I couldn't go wrong. I enjoyed soup, wine, and a lovely selection of cheeses. Be sure to put this on your list when you visit!

Vincent R.

Yelp
We dine here on the recommendation of a friend who happens to the be a food journo. Needless to say his recommendation was spot on and the restaurant did NOT disappoint. I went with my girlfriend and her 6 year old daughter and they were more than happy to accommodate our needs. We took dinner early, so the restaurant wasn't busy, which probably helped, and it was midweek. I don't recall exactly everything we ate or imbibed but recollections are all excellent and every time a friend mentions Glasgow, I recommend they go to Rogano's. It's the perfect old school Deco Oyster Bar + Restaurant.

Qype User (pinkuc…)

Yelp
Glasgow's oldest surviving restaurant, this place is indeed a Glasgow institution. My flat mate and I had been talking about eating here for a long time before it actually happened, special occasions came and went, and each time we just couldn't quite afford it. But it was definitely worth waiting for. The concern when you wait a long time for something, is that when it actually happens, it won't quite live up to your expectations, but our Rogano evening by far exceeded all our hopes and expectations. Each course was cooked to absolute perfection. Other diners were relaxed and casual, tables are quite close together and diners chatted between tables, not at all the stiff, formal atmosphere we were expecting. Staff were professional and friendly, it was only afterwards that we realised that we'd had a a preconceived notion that they might be a bit snobby, but they weren't at all. Everything about the evening was relaxed and enjoyable. It's certainly not within my budget to eat there regularly, but I fully intend to return, next time to sample the menu of surprises, which sounds most exciting!

Qype User (adam_…)

Yelp
By far my favourite restaurant in Glasgow. Ideal for a special occasion.Yes it is pricey but it's worth the extra spend . I have dined here many times but would highly reccomend chosing from the a la carte menu - the pigeon salad 2 start is beautiful, there are so many choices for the main - the scallops and the red snapper are a fantastic. The service is grand and the whole experience dining here is an enjoyable one. In summer if you can get a table outside i would go for this, the atmosphere from royal exchange square and the lighting works perfect for an intimate meal.

Caroline H.

Yelp
Good service at the bar on a Sunday afternoon! Mojitos. Are good and strong. Margaritas were good too. We highly recommend it for drinks. We only went for drinks too.

Peter C.

Yelp
Great cocktails but dont accidentaly inhale the chilli cocktail as it really hurts

Laurielee T.

Yelp
love this place. My favorite in GLA. Cute champagne bar upstairs in main dining room. But the cafe downstairs is adorable . Cozy , romantic . Great food. Plz go!!!!

Yelp
Ragano's, situated in the very heart of the city is a Glasgow institution dating back to 1935. Ragano's is not simply a single restaurant but instead a collection of three or four different ones; the street café, now a permanent and popular year round feature with the introduction of the smoking ban sheltering under a giant black umbrella; stop here for a coffee and a piece of sweet tablet which is always served with the coffee, or better still add a portion of their delicious sticky toffee pudding, it sets the standard against which all others should be judged, or on a warm afternoon linger over a glass of champagne and enjoy watching the never ending crowds as they stream through Exchange Place on their way between Buchanan Street and Queen Street. Moving inside through the swing doors with their port hole like etched glass windows each decorated with a sea horse you enter the bar with a series of booths down the right hand side. Always busy the bar is the perfect place to meet, to have a brief drink or a long one as well as to stay and eat and select something from their range of fresh sandwiches and sea food dishes. In years past this was a favorite retreat, once a term we came up to town for our children's parents evenings at St Aloysius and afterwards retreated to Ragano's for champagne and oyster which always put things in perspective once more! Down stairs, to the right as you come in is Café Rogano a more informal version of the restaurant upstairs, slightly cheaper but none the less every bit as good. The upstairs restaurant beyond the bar is classic fine dining at its best and always busy so its advisable to book ahead. The art deco designs on the walls alone make this place worth a visit but the food and the service all combine to make this a very special place.

Sheena A.

Yelp
Absolutely fabulous. Thankfully it was a quiet weekend, so we were able to book a table at the last minute, and I am so glad we did. As you enter, it's like traveling back in time, but elegant and sophisticated, not dated. Attentive, but not overbearing service. The little salmon appetiser, was delightful, the scallops (we both ordered) as a starter were amongst the best I've had. The complimentary tomato and basil soup was heaven in a bowl (and there was more of it, than we paid for when dining recently at a Michelin star restaurant in Edinburgh). My duck main course was also fabulous, although I couldn't eat it all, however it did not go to waste, as my dining partner was happy to help me out, even though he'd just finished a gorgeous lobster thermidor. Totally satisfied, I wasn't going to have anything else, but am so glad we decided to share the Rogano Grand Desserts. If you go, you MUST have this. 4 desserts to die for! We had a very nice bottle of champagne but the icing on the cake (or pudding) for me was the Trockenbeerenauslese. To sum up, as others have said, it's maybe not the cheapest restaurant in town, but it's worth every penny. Great food, great wine, great service and decent sized portions. I look forward to going back soon.

Margaret M.

Yelp
Food was good but the service from one of the waiters (a small Egyptian guy) was so bad we won't be back.

Mike H.

Yelp
Nice 30s style restaurant. Attentive well dressed wAiting staff. Food nice but not outstanding. But the ginger sponge desert was excellent!

Qype User (ginger…)

Yelp
This restaurant is legendary in Glasgow for excellent quality and service, there are 3 areas which you can dine in. A. the main dinning room ( Rod Stewart eats here when he's back in Glasgow, usually for the football or playing live!). This is a gorgeous art deco room designed on a cruise liner from the glory days! Although mainly seafood they do offer steaks and game dishes. The food is always superb and cooked to perfection, order a tea or coffee and it comes with petit fours which are all hand made. A special occasion type of place which the excellent service adding to the experience, the staff are not snooty atall. It might be worth noting you pay a service charge in the bill. They also serve afternoon tea here, which I treated my mum to and she loved it! As you can imagine a tier of sandwiches with hand baked cakes and a pot of tea ( you can also have a glass of champagne for a few quid more). We couldn't finish it but the staff kindly wrapped up the remainders in foil so we could take home! B. Downstairs bistro, again the quality and service is fab with a less expensive menu. C. Bar area. You can order sandwiches and soup here, which again is lovely, there is an outside area which is a god send is you are a smoker as there is shelter and heating in the winter. It can get a bit rowdy at weekends at the bar area although it is quite small but overall a good atmosphere, if you are lucky you might see the lady with the pink yappy dog!

Susan B.

Yelp
This is the second time we have been here. The first was two years ago. Both times we had a wonderful lunch. Today it was the mixed seafood grill with a glass of Sancerre. Very good with attentive service.

Kelly C.

Yelp
We had wonderful oysters, crab and salmon cakes and amazing old fashion cocktails! You have to order the old fashioned and enjoy the art form that the bartenders put in to the drinks. We really loved the atmosphere of the oyster bar and would definitely recommend this place! Everything we had was wonderful, staff was friendly and great atmosphere!

Eric B.

Yelp
Some say the best fish restaurant in Glasgow, and I'm inclined to agree. Their fish platter is excellent, with a champagne julep to accompany it this makes for a classy (romantic with the right company) lunch which isn't actually as expensive as you might think. Evening dining is much more expensive, though. Last time I was there they had tables set outside. Eat inside if you can. It's much classier, the street's a bit busy for the sort of dining experience you should expect there.

Qype User (cinder…)

Yelp
The Rogano is often been quoted as being Glasgow's best restaurant and has a certain mystique about it. The building itself is beautiful. It is Art Deco in style and as soon as you walk in, it has a feeling of luxury about it. It is well known in Glasgow for it's fish but other dishes are wonderful as well. I had a lovely steak dish that was divine. But in my opinion if you go you need to have scallops they are always cooked to perfection and are fresh and juicy. Staff are as you would expect, truly excellent and go out of their way to provide good service. It is expensive though and it is not somewhere I would just pop in to on a whim. I feel it is more suited to a special occasion when you are all glammed up and looking to be spoiled.

Qype User (lisain…)

Yelp
I have enjoyed visiting Rogano and have always found the staff to be very attentive and helpful. The food is generally very good, it is nicer upstairs but the menu downstairs is affordable and delicious. The decor is lovely, the ambiance and the feel of the place makes it very memorable.

Kate G.

Yelp
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Upstairs is old style glamour - think Titanic, art deco Lyons Tea Rooms. We ate downstairs in the wood panelled restaurant - think old county town restaurants combined with glamour. Waitresses were lovely & friendly. Food was excellent and they were happy to help when we wanted to order off menu - which is a really nice touch! It is very expensive - but worth it for a really special treat or romantic evening. A great excuse to really dress up!

Qype User (quenti…)

Yelp
The Rogano is more than a restaurant it is an experience. It is not cheap, but going and having a bar snack at lunctime does not cost a lot and you still can get a buzz with all the business types crowding in. The decor is classic Art Deco, and the booths are very cool. The simpler the better with the food though, in my opinion. Classic fishy things are still the best bet, but some of the fancier combinations do not come off. The service is excellent. If you don't want to pay for the restaurant, you can still go in for a drink and have a look round.

TimNiceButDim D.

Yelp
If you're trying to show off go here. However the place is often full of right twangers who believe they are better at life than you. It's really expensive but the food is great. I didn't like the atmosphere, seating and the ignorant people who like to act posh because they're in a fancy restaurant.

Qype User (hockma…)

Yelp
It's alright like..keep your pants on people

Qype User (Eichsf…)

Yelp
Very special restaurant. At least for me as a german it was a new fish experience. Worth a visit specially for non-uk tourists!

Qype User (loripo…)

Yelp
Visited the Rogano Wednesday 30th May, wow what a restaurant, we had bought four Itison deals, we did however not expect the little extras that accompanied this deal which was excellent value for money, we did order extras in desserts and coffees, which came to thirty quid, (not bad considering the deal was very reasonable and delicious) but overall a great restaurant and a great experience. Staff were all very attentive and professional. We will return soon.

Chris M.

Yelp
My son and I had a fantastic birthday lunch for him today with fantastic food and great service

James W.

Yelp
My wife and I go there for a treat, usually on our anniversary. The food is great and worth the money once in a while.Having said that, why is the alcohol so rediculousely priced. High is one thing. exorbitant is another. The splendid Poirot like decor is in in great need of freshening up.Please don't let it slide any further, it is a Glaswegian art treasure. If you've got the loot - go , if things are tight - avoid like the plague.

Qype User (anghel…)

Yelp
dine in the atmosphere of the greatest of the 1930s cunard liners and glasgow's proud shipbuilding history - with food fit for a queen (and not just a cunard queen) - excellent service and glamorous cocktails - quality like this is hard to find - the rogano is an art-deco style restaurant which used to be the haunt of famous hollywood stars whenever in scotland who dined on oysters, champagne and exquisite fish dishes

Qype User (westen…)

Yelp
This is a great Glasgow institution, possibly over-hyped for what is is: a solid performer producing consistently great food. Pay royally when dining a la carte, but set lunch menus come in around £25, which is pretty good value given the quality.

Qype User (callam…)

Yelp
My darling hubby just took me to the main Rogano restaurant for birthday lunch after we papped the little one off to nursery and although it was undoubtedly a great dining (or should that be lunching) experience, I have to say it made me appreciate the Cafe much much more. The food is of the same quality and although there may not be as much to choose from you will definitely find something to tickle your taste buds. Without wanting to fulfil the cheap Scot stereotype it is also a bit friendlier to your purse/wallet. One of those restaurants that you really must try when you're in Glasgow (if you like fish of course)!

Yelp
I have been a diner at the Rogano for around 25 years and am really sad to say that over the past year or so the food and service have been in a state of decline. This has always been an iconic seafood restaurant, with a beautiful art deco interior and has been a favourite destination of mine for special occasion dining, as well as a fairly regular haunt for weekend drinks or cocktails. I have to say that the standard of food in the more expensive upstairs restaurant as well as the more affordable downstairs Cafe Rogano is now fairly average. The staff, although not unfriendly do not exhibit the outstanding service once offered. On my last visit the toilets were a disgrace - really shabby and untidy. I still continue to use the bar on occasion as I have such a fond attachment to the place.I can only hope that things will improve and the Rogano will return to its former glory.

Yelp
I fell in love with Rogano when I first walked in. As other reviewers have explained, it's an original art deco interior, and you are overwhelmed by authenticity as soon as you enter. In a city full of generic restaurants that are so similar to eachother they blur into one (hard floors, hard tables, lots of noise, the same vaguely mediterranean-inspired menu, etc etc), Rogano is unique. Seafood is what they do best, but even so I love to meet my husband at the bar after work (it's always extremely busy but we tend to find a seat eventually) for a glass of wine and their mini haggis, neeps and tatties. Delicious.

Yelp
I dine here regularly, down stairs and up , I especially like the an afternoon outside weather permitting. I'll simply say it's exquisite , if you enjoy life you'll enjoy the Rogano.

Yelp
Always classy a and relaxed, despite the great pressure nowadays on city-centre restaurants. Whether one is looking for a full scale meal or a smart lunch, the Rogano never disappoints. Inside, particularly downstairs, is very smart.
