"Meat, smoke, and salt. If you like the sound of that, you’ll like Rök Islington (and the original branch in Shoreditch) a lot. They cook just about everything over a fire or through preserving in salt, while combining ingredients from all over the place. One regular dish on the always-changing menu is scallops served with ’nduja (Calabrian sausage spread) and seaweed. Sounds odd on paper, but wait till you taste it. And it’s not all meaty mains here: the side dishes (especially the cabbage) are some of the best things on the menu. One of my favourite restaurants in London. Their Scandanavian dishes are delicious and perfectly cooked. You will come away having tried something new and very satisfied. The restaurant has a relaxed and comfortable vibe and is great for special occasions and dinner with friends.

An absolutely lovely dinner. I booked for a group of friends on a Thursday night. The service was good. Every dish I received was amazing! I would recommend the scallop as a starter, the duck for a main and the blackened cabbage as a side.

Awesome Nordic inspired cuisine. Very cosy. Everything we had was very good. Cocktails were spot on. Burnt sweet potato was super tasty. Venison was tender and delicious. The smoked mackerel was also really good. The Danish donuts were a great way to end the dinner. Highly recommend the place!

Great for sharing plates. Visited with friends last week. I recommend the pickles, especially the fennel one. The menu is small, but all is delicious and quite unusual. I'm not sure if it is authentic, but it's very tasty. The staff are very friendly and have excellent knowledge of the food and wine. On the subject of wine, they have an unusual selection that's worth exploring. We paid around 60 a head including wine - I think reasonable value for the area. Would definitely visit again.

Really nice food! Good service. We had some amazing rabbit, oh and the best tomato salad I've ever had. Odd thing to pick on, but it was delicious. I would have given 5 stars but they weren't brilliant with my dairy intolerance. Most good chefs will swap things out in a dish, make something up. They simply highlighted a couple dishes where they could remove the dairy. Rather than the chef being a bit more creative. Picky I know! I also know some chefs love the challenge, others must find it very restrictive. I would recommend!

Effing delicious. I don't know what that sneaky chef is doing behind the counter, but the food is so good. You'll probably end up wanting a couple of dishes each. The pricing is pretty spot on for the area/quality/quantity. It's quite small and understated place and it was pretty chilly in there today! Definitely want to visit again soon.
