Roland's Swiss Pastry & Bakery

I heard Michelin skipped the bakeries in Houston because the competition is unfair when you have a place like Roland’s in town. Fantastic service and baked goods all around. We bought a large box of cookies for a party and they were very well crafted. I could tell a lot of heart and soul went into every single cookie in that box. I didn’t tell others where I bought them at first, and they questioned how I managed to get such freshness from what seemed to be imported straight from a pastry shop in France. I seriously questioned any bad review on this place and saw they were all over 5 years old, which makes more sense… I’ve only been having a great experience since becoming a customer this year. I encourage those traumatized individuals to come back and see the greatness that is the modern day Roland’s. C'est délicieux!

I just picked up a beautiful apple strudel! The website says it serves 8, but it looks like it serves at least 12. I love this place. Last time I ordered delicious pretzels for Oktoberfest.

Order a Bannenschnitte If you don’t know what a Bannenschnitte is, you are missing out. Roland’s Bakery makes an incredibly authentic Bannenschnitte. A Bannenschnitte is a kinda like a banana cream cake… it’s German and very delicious. A nice moist cake base with a Bavarian style cream on top of it with a sliced banana on top of that and it’s all topped with a delicious chocolate coating. You need to call them to make it but it’s definitely worth the 1-2 day wait.

We used to order the Black Forest cake from this bakery years ago, going back to well over 44 years. Now that this business does not have a retail shop, I had some concerns about how easy or difficult it would be to order and pick up from their warehouse type of location. In the end I was very pleased with the seamless order and pick-up. The cake tasted great, too! Excellent deal all around.

The cake balls from Roland's Swiss Pastry & Bakery should come with a warning label — soft, sweet, and way too easy to put in your mouth. The key lime pie? Tart in all the right ways and leaves you wanting more. Everything they make here hits the spot, goes down smooth, and keeps you coming back for seconds.

Black Forest cake was beautiful and delicious! Multiple party attendees asked me where I got the cake from because they loved it so much! Definitely the highlight of the party :)

Had some friends visiting on short notice and needed some breakfast food. Roland's came through with a couple of quiches, pistachio muffins, and kolaches. Our friends thought we went a little overboard. Thanks for providing great fresh food so quickly and allowing us to focus on having a great time with our friends.

this is my all-time favorite bakery in the Houston area, all of the pastries are made fresh daily and it is family owned so it feels even better supporting a small business!! I highly recommend the pistachio muffin!! My fav off the menu 😋

This has been a favorite my whole life!! When they were off Hillcroft, i stopped everyday on my way to school. I'll always love their products. Once is a lifetime experience!!!

Cannot recommend this bakery enough! The PRETZELS ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD!! my family use this bakery all the time and we will continue until we are gone or they close. The food is AMAZING and we just got a wedding cake not too long ago and our whole family won't stop talking about it. We will always support Roland's and their tasty treats!!

Great business with wonderful products! Rolands made a cake for my friend's bridal shower and I couldn't have been more pleased with the end result. It was exactly as I'd wanted and tasted great. I would also recommend their pies around the holiday season. You can tell they don't cut costs with cheap ingredients. Great flavor un all their products. Definitely recommended.

I have been going to this Bakery since they were on Hillcroft. My fondest memories of childhood were the alligator french bread loaves and gingerbread houses. No Special occasion is complete without one of their pastry treats. Love them and their products!!!!!!!!!

Do not do business with this company! The owner is irresponsible! Yesterday one of his delivery van drivers named Amos swerved into my lane and hit my car my husband was driving and our baby was sleeping in her car seat. The driver pulls over and immediately begins to deny he hit us even though we clearly had a scratch and dent on our car and he had a scrape on his tire. Eventually he admits to hitting us then gives his license info and insurance info. However the insurance is expired! We then call the bakery to speak to owner, fully expecting to hear that he will take care if it, but this irresponsible and inconsiderate owner tells us it's not his problem and hangs up! This is not a person you want to do business with! You and your employees should be held accountable!! Now we will be forced to take legal action!

We had our wedding cake made by Gerhard and it was both beautiful and delicious! It was better than any other wedding cakes we sampled at big names cake bakeries in town. We provided Gerhard with a photo of how we wanted our cake to look and what he delivered was even more beautiful! He was very pleasant to work with. I would recommend to anyone looking for a wedding cake! **Note: flowers were provided by florist and placed by Gerhard.

Everything I have gotten from them has been delicious! I have gotten a chocolate cake, loaves of bread, decorated cookies and plain ones too. It's all delicious!

They made a beautiful and delicious cake for our wedding. Price was reasonable and service and tasting was fantastic. Can't recommend them enough.

I almost don't want to post a first review for Roland's Swiss Bakery since it truly is a hidden gem. We were referred to Gerhart by our wedding caterer. The cakes he provided were incredible. The tuxedo strawberries - even more so! And VERY reasonable price. The thing we liked about the tasting was that it wasn't the typical cake tasting where you go & sample some of the selections. Gerhart actually gave us 3 mini-cakes to take with us. (!) We not only got to sample them over more than one day but we were able to get others opinions as well. We've since gone back to him for our daughter's birthday cake (& cupcakes) and I'm sure we'll be returning to him for many years.

I have been enjoying the muffins, tea loaf, cookies, kolaches, quiches from Rolands for 8 years. Great products from really great people

Gerhard was our amazing wedding cake baker! He and his staff are so talented (my cake was simple, but during my consult and when I dropped the check off, they were doing crazy cake decorations for other people), and Gerhard himself is so friendly and personable. One of the best vendors we had, and priced incredibly reasonably. I would 100% order the anniversary cake from him in a year! :) P.S. - we tried a ton of chocolate cake from different bakers, and Gerhard's chocolate cake is hands down the best, richest, chocolatiest wedding cake you'll get from a wedding cake vendor in Houston. What is up with dry chocolate cake everywhere else?!

I don't live in the Houston area, so Elvira went out of her way to help me deliver a black forest cake for my friend's birthday. I wish all businesses provided this level of quality (I heard that the cake was delicious! ;) ), and were committed to outstanding customer service! A rare combination these days. I can't recommend Roland's highly enough.

The quality of the baked goods is THE freshest and best flavor of anywhere. I look at other reviews and see things about uninsured drivers, and a voice tone for a person that answered the phone. I have been here many many times and been treated so well and with respect. Please look past these reviews and concentrate on the important point. Chef Gerhard and staff work hard and put out amazing food and customer service. I have been enjoying their goods for more than 20 yrs.

Order your cake from Gehart. His cakes are delicious! The person that answers the phone however, is extremely rude and condescending. I always ask to speak directly to Gehart because of how impatient she is. I've had friends that haven't ordered from Roland's Bakery because of how rude this person is, but trust me, if you can get through to Gehart, it will be worth it!

What a wonderful person Gerhard is!! He made a Black Forest cake for my husbands 70th birthday with such perfection and taste. My husband was in his glory. Ok Roland, practice on a Brown Derby! The best in town

I cannot say enough good things about Gerhart and Roland's bakery. First off Gerhart is one nicest and friendliest people you will meet! He really cares about his work and his customers and was so happy to work with us. Mind you, he does not need our business as he makes all the pastries for large hotels around Houston, but that what's makes him such a great find! His cakes are amazing! He can do any design and will deliver it on time and minimal stress. Especially on your wedding day, the minimal stress part cannot be overstated! His price point is unbeatable! For our one year anniversary, he made us our cake top for free and even remembered what we had ordered! If you are looking for a cake maker, look no further! We will definitely be going back to Gerhart for any major events in the future!
