The 11 Best Food Hall Restaurants In Houston - Houston - The Infatuation

"This Pakistani spot takes popular curries and kebabs and wraps them in a flaky, butter-laced paratha. Their chicken tikka masala with a drizzle of garlic mayo or barbecue beef with tamarind-sweet chutney is great if you need to grab and go. It’s the fries, however, that keep us coming back. Dusted with masala spice and melted cheese, the tangy but spicy snack is great before shopping at the Galleria." - gianni greene, chelsea thomas, julie takahashi

Houston’s Best Food Trucks | Eater Houston

"As its name suggests, parathas — traditional South Asian flatbreads — are rolled with spicy meat fillings to make “phatties”, but there are also rice platters and quesadillas, too. Too hot to handle? Put the fire out with a Nutella dessert phattie. Though it has two locations, including a stall at the Post, the Conroe truck is known for its famed Wake and Bake breakfast menu that offers delicious egg and bacon-focused paranthas." - Megha McSwain

Delicious!! The crisp of the bread and flavor from the meat and sauces were delectable! Definitely be sure to get the crispy onions. It’ll top off your meal. I would recommend to double check if the order was dine-in or to-go. Also, when serving dine-in food, please leave it behind the counter until the customer arrives or cover it. Flies are among us 😬

The zinger fries were so good!!! The fires had spices and masala that are very unique and delicious. The Nutella phatty was also good.

It's the very fist time visiting this place. Our family tried total 4 restaurant's food and they are the second from those 4 resturants. I will add comments for the owner, even the business is slow during the week days the food quality should not be compromised. We got Samosa's but the oil was not well warmed to fry Samosas, more than 5-6 minutes the oil was dipping. We thought Beeb Kabab's are the ground beef but these were beef boti and i don't think that those were fresh made. We picked the food suddenly they made ready but the boti's were not hot but just warm, yes the pratha was only true hot. The employee was cooperative to give his excuse but the management should take care right. Its my history for google reviews that i never tried to heart any business by cutting the rating stars but when i care for our community then i do comment for errors. The employee was cooperative.

Google
This place is fast, flavorful, and delicious! Completely random and unexpy find at THE POST. The beef bihari is the best dish I've ever had. I wish this was a brick and mortar building closer to where I live. I would be here all the time. The 2 samosa side + Beef bihari phattie is a hit!

Google
Dietary options for Southeast Asians can be somewhat limited in the Americas due to their preferences, but in places like this, with a vibrant atmosphere, you can find flavorful dishes starting at just $8.99. Houston, in particular, encourages portion control by offering satisfying meals at a little over from reasonable prices. I've had three delightful dining experiences here over the weekend. While there might be even more budget-friendly options for family dining, I haven't come across them yet.

Google
First time visiting the post in Houston, came across this South Asian joint and it was really good! Their staff was were very accommodating and friendly! Their zinger fries with sauces and cheese, and fried chicken were very tasty! I’d highly recommend checking this place out when in Houston!

Google
Bad food and slow service. Kebabs were not ground beef but chunks of boti and were the driest boti I've ever had. Good food melts in your mouth; this crumbled in my mouth. Also don't know why "authentic" Pakistani rolls have barbecue sauce on them. Also took 22 minutes to serve a kebab roll with fries... definitely not worth getting food from here with all the better places right next to it.

Google
I finally tried the curried chickpea rice bowl and it exceeded my expectations. I tried a sample that was offered by the guy behind the counter. The flavors blended so well and compliment each other. I will definitely try it again.

Yelp
We waited for about 5 min for the guy cooking, we saw us and never acknowledged us. He finally has a raise our voice to get his attention, as I was looking at the menu he walked off. Beef Bihari- the bread was very flaky and buttery, beef was tender but very dry. Very over powering with the sauce-6/10 Potato samosas- filling had good flavor but that breading was bland and not flaky 7/10

Yelp
LOCATION: Rolling Phatties is located within the POST Market which is an indoor food hall in downtown Houston with ~20 vendors offering both local and international options. Beyond food, there are a few cute shops to browse and an amazing rooftop park that you can explore as well. On top of all that, they also have a gorgeous spiral staircase that's great for photos. PARKING: There is paid parking available at the POST. It's pretty high tech as their gates automatically recognize your car's license plate upon entry and it calculates your parking fees upon exit based on time. For M-Th: 0-75 min is free, $5/hr afterwards. For F-Sun: 0-30 min is free, $5/hr afterwards. You can either pay online or when your vehicle exists the gate. MY ORDER: [-] Chicken Tikka Phattie from Rollin Phatties ($12.95) - tender pieces of chicken marinated in authentic spices served with fried onions, pickled onions, cilantro, homemade sauces and wrapped up in a warm Paratha. This was really good - the meat was tender, flavors were good, and paratha was flakey but the amount of food you get for the price is not really worth it.

Yelp
I took a lap around the POST food hall before making a decision to try Rollin Phatties. It has a funny name and there wasn't a line so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Phattie. The lady at the register told me I would get a text message when it was ready. After about 10 minutes I hadn't received a text so I went back to check on it. After awkwardly standing near the counter for a few minutes, I decided to get a bottle of water at the vendor next to them and go back to my table to wait some more. Another 10 minutes passed and I still hadn't received a text so I went back to the counter to check on it again and it still wasn't ready. The lady asked me what I ordered then checked with the cook and he was finally making it. After about another minute or so, it was finally ready! The paratha was flaky and buttery and each bite had a nice crisp. The chicken tikka was flavorful and a bit spicy. I had to keep drinking sips of water to tame down the heat. Luckily, there are water bottle fillers at the water fountains throughout the food court so I didn't have to purchase another water bottle. The portion was enough for me because I wasn't starving, but if you're really hungry, you may need two or maybe order a side with it. The lack of beverage options and the long wait was disappointing especially because they were not busy at all. The cashier looked bored sitting there. If you're not in a rush, then try this place out. They're close to one of the bars, so you can enjoy a nice cocktail before your food is ready.

Yelp
Came here at lunch time on a Wednesday, and there was no line at all. I ordered a chicken tikka phattie with a side of regular fries. The phattie was tasty (kind of on the lighter side so I see why people order more than one sometimes), but the fries were nothing to write home about - just regular, thick, potatoey fries with salt and pepper on top. I would've gotten the masala fries, but I was worried the phattie itself was already going to be a lot and didn't want to go into a food coma the rest of my afternoon at work! Ordering wasn't the most seamless in this case. There was a slight language barrier with the guy at the cashier, so I ended up needing make two separate orders because I was asking to add a side of fries with my entree and he didn't pick up on it the first time and made it sound like it came on the side already. But then he had to ask for another guy to show him how to work the register, etc., and that guy clarified that the fries did not come included, thus helping me make a second order.

Yelp
Came to railway market on an Saturday night. The wait was about an hour at 8pm. Once you finish ordering, they will get your contact information so they will text you once your order is ready. The wait for the food was about 10 mins after you order, so it wasn't too bad. I ordered the chicken tikka with an side of masala. The chicken tikka was not too bad but I felt like it could use more flavor. The fries was had an good taste with the sauce but the fries was a little too soggy for my taste. If it was crunchier, it would've been great. Overall it's not an bad place to eat at and would go back and try some other dishes!!

Yelp
Yummy Delicious Pakistani fusion food! They put their own flare on tacos and quesadillas. Love the flavors that they have put together. So far I've tried the Beef Quesadilla and the Spicy Potato Phattie and I loved them both. The parathas are crispy on outside and perfectly cooked. The staff at the downtown location inside Post Houston are very nice. And I love the food hall. Clean and many options.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for food halls. They say variety is the spice of life and food halls allow you to do just that. You can get a little bit of everything and it's an elevated experience compared to the food court at the mall. And Post is one of the best of the bunch in town. Back in December, I stopped by Post for dinner on a Thursday evening. A lot of people were off for the holidays so it was packed. Rollin Phatties was not prepared. They had one guy working as both the cashier and the chef. He was doing the best he could running back and forth from the cash register to the kitchen but things naturally were moving super slow. He needed at least another employee there to help and you could tell he was stressed out about it. That led to a long wait time at this Pakistani restaurant with the weed-themed name. We went with the chicken tikka masala phattie with masala fries. Plus a side of paratha. The phatties are not blunts but actually paratha wraps. I didn't try the wrap but I did have the paratha and I sampled the masala fries. The flavor of the fries was overpowering. I surprisingly wasn't a fan. A little too much flavor for my taste buds to handle.

Yelp
First time trying Pakistani fusion food, so I have little to compare it to. We ordered brisket and chicken with regular fries and samosas on the side. Pros: For the price (about 15.00 an entree) we received a good amount of food that was filling. Very flavorful. Food arrived hot and tasted fresh. The samosas were my favorite, loved the flaky breading. Unfamiliar with the type of food, being a our time ordering on a terminal was nice and low pressure. We were given free ice water and baskets and trays that allowed us to take the food to the skygarden. Employees were friendly. Cons: We waited a long time for our food, even though the stand wasn't busy. We asked if the food would be spicy and were told it wouldn't be. It certainly tasted very spicy to us, took my taste buds a day to recover. I am not criticizing the amount of spice, if that's what is characteristic and authentic for this type of food. But if I am asking specifically, just tell me what to expect.

Alena B.

Yelp
These vegetable samosas were made to order and they came out super fast and super fresh!! Inside of POST HTX. It wasn't that busy when I went and they give you 2 big samosas per order. Can't wait to try their other food items on the menu.

Yelp
So I went with the intention of getting the chicken tikka phattie, despite the complaints about service. I had no problem with the service as it was self service ordering with text notification. The problem was with the taste of the chicken tikka roll, beef roll, and lukewarm fries. I took a few bites of the rolls, discarded the fries, and at least enjoyed the masala corn--a lot like elote. The rolls didn't taste good at all. Feeling a little queasy now. Never returning :(

Yelp
Came here for a quick dinner before seeing a show at the adjoining 713 Music Hall. Well, I was hoping it would be quick, but seems they were severely understaffed - the poor guy taking your order then had to stop in between each patron to make all of their food. With 3 people ahead of me, this was about 20+ minutes. Could have been worse, but on a Friday night, I would have expected more help - shout out to the guy working though and holding it down. We wanted a phattie and a quesadilla, but they were out of cheese, so 2 phatties it is. The chicken tika was very flavorful, a bit more spicy than anticipated, but it balanced well with the rest of the toppings. The masala fries on the side were also delicious, I really enjoyed the sauce served on top. A bit of confusion when ordering because the menu board shows that phatties come with a side, but when we ordered it didn't show up and had to get added on separately once we asked about it (so, maybe check and watch the ring up to ensure the side is included if you want it).

Yelp
Good grief the the brisket paratha is fire!!! Such a buttery, flaky exterior with a rich and tender filling! Very rich flavors and textures - so I highly recommend! The masala fries are absolutely delicious - but make sure to ask for extra sauce on the side. Would definitely go back to try the tikka masala paratha, or even their takes on loaded fries - so many menu standouts for such a small menu!

Yelp
Omg wow. I saw this place hyped up on Instagram when it was just a food truck and I was psyched to see they opened a location in Post. I had to give it a try. I am a huge bihari fan. It's my favorite way to have meat at an Indo-Pak restaurant. I was excited to see that their beef phattie was just that--the tender, fall-apart bihari. The phattie came with the meat wrapped in a flaky paratha. Additional fillings were pickles, unexplainably delish sauces, and fried onions to add that extra crunch. SO good. I wanted to try a rice bowl although they said they weren't going to have those until 2pm, and I had arrived for lunch on Sunday at noon. Not sure if this is a regular occurrence but even if you can't get certain items at certain times, you can't go wrong ordering a phattie. Parking situation: on-site (Post parking lot)

Yelp
Came in this food and thought to myself I wanted something crazy and something that I never had. So I decided to go here and get their chicken masla wrap and it was amazing! Their seasoned fries were also cooked perfectly. Very nice staff!

Yelp
Getting the phatties was a bit of a let down honestly. I remember when they used to have their food truck, the bread used to be super flaky and piping hot. Despite the long wait around rush hour on Friday around 8 the food didn't come out as fresh as I remembered it. I have uploaded a pic from when I had gone to their food truck vs. what I got now. You can see how thick their paratha is now which is quite sad because it doesn't eat like a roll that I was hoping to get. Their description for their paratha is a flaky buttery flatbread. Unfortunately this ate like a gooey sticky bread that had not received any butter or maybe it was left on the grill for too long on one side because it was almost too crispy on the outside and mushy on the inside. Thankfully the flavors of the food saved the day. The masala fries had good seasoning but they tasted soggy and were not hot. I really was looking forward to eating here because the food truck used to be absolutely amazing.

Yelp
I had heard about this place when I first moved to Houston and finally got to try it at Post. I got the chicken tikka phattie and my friend got the beef bihari- both were DELICIOUS! I especially loved the sauce on the chicken tikka one. Reminds me of the ever famous Kati Roll in New York.

Yelp
Came on 6/23/22. Front cashier did not want to be bothered. Asked about our food 3 times before she went to the back to see what the delay was. Poor service. Find a new cashier and organize the business better.

Yelp
There's a good reason why Rollin Phatties always has the most people waiting in line for them at The Post. Both their Chicken and Beef Phattie Rolls are a must try! The meat textures are unlike anything I've ever had before. It was thick and pasty, and as unappetizing as it sounds, it was somehow one of the most delicious South Asian foods I've had. I thoroughly enjoyed the flavors and spices that they used, and the meats itself were tender and paired perfectly with the soft, buttery paratha rolls. We also decided to get their exclusive items at the Post, which were the Brisket Phattie Roll and the Loaded Brisket Fries. Both were just average though. The barbecue flavor was great, but the brisket was dry and the fries were cold. Other than that, I definitely recommend giving Rollin Phatties a shot for some delicious Pakistani street food!
google avatar

Shah M.

Yelp
Honestly don't know whether I enjoyed the chicken roll or the masala fries more... and that's definitely more because the fries were that good. Easily the most flavorful fries I've had in quite some time and getting some extra phat sauce on the side only made the entire meal even better.

Yelp
This place is phenomenal. Everything I had was packed with flavor. I am already thinking about going again!

Yelp
I love their chicken tikka masala paratha and their dessert paratha is yummy too. Must try!

Jessika S.

Yelp
R.I.P Rollin Phatties. We used to love rollin Phatties when they just started as a food truck, we would always order the chicken tikka always hot, fresh and flavorful. We followers them form montrose to the heights and were now happy to see they had a permanent spot at POST. On 8/25/22 we decided to have a delicious paratha but noticed they extended their menu... we decided to stick to our usual and order the Chicken Tikka and a side of masala fries. First we were confused as the person handling the orders had a Johnny Good Burger shirt on (was he covering for someone?) he was not interested in customers and clearly did not know what was on the menu. After waiting for over almost 20min he hands over a "chicken tikka phattie" covered in bbq no pickled onions no cilantro sauce and fries with a brown sauce no white sauce no garnish. Just looked so wrong. I told him I had ordered the chicken phattie roll and this should come with garlic Mayo and prat sauce. He look at me and said this I how they come and I should tell it to the chef. He then said that they did not have the sauce. They ended up giving me a just dried chicken with the Phattie just dry and horrible. They continued to take orders for the chicken tikka... the fried they gave we were under cooked and of course no sauce.. Just disappointing, they should really make sure they staff are trained and care for quality

Yelp
Can't go wrong with the Chicken Tikka phattie! Bowls and quesadillas are also delicious

Yelp
Went to the post location. Was excited to try. Ordered at 1:53. The food was projected to come out at 2:09. Finally went up and asked about it around 2:33. Food came out promptly. Felt bad for the one guy working since there was no one else helping him. Also we never got a text message even when the food was ready (I had to go back up and check). Frys were cold (but the guy remade them very quickly for us so thanks Lone Ranger!) Also the beef was dry dry dry. Felt like it was frozen and then Unthawed and cooked. The beef is advertised as juicy. Hmm what else. The phatties sauce was good though? Would not go again. Hopefully they get it together.

Yelp
POST Market is my favorite place to eat in all of Houston. A giant food court with NO chain restaurants? Perfection. Rollin Phatties is a solid entry. The food is good and quite filling, despite its deceptively small portion size. The phatties were quite hot. Probably a little too spicy for me, but if you're into that, you're gonna love them!

Mustaf K.

Yelp
One of the best desi spots for a quick bite. The food was a amazing very tasteful and filling. Seasonings on point not missing a single grain of salt it was perfect. I got the chicken tika phattie and the rice bowl with a side of parata which is a flakes buttery bread that goes perfect with the rice dish. The customer service was ecstatic and they recommend the right items for me. Very friendly respectful environment. Would recommend it 100 out of 10 can't wait to visit again.

Ryan S.

Yelp
All hype. Their name is better than the food. Came here on a busy day and was excited to try. The line moves very very very slow but staff was nice. The big problem was the food was not fresh and was cold. Fries were soggy and not even a little warm. Disappointing because they look so good in the pictures, i even left a nice tip. I had the chicken tippa, flavor was good but it was cold straight out of the kitchen! Not cool! My friend's food was also cold. Wont be back!

Jessy D.

Yelp
I've only tried 2 places at POST and this one was SO GOOD and so decently priced compared to the other spots, that I don't want to try the other places haha. Definitely my go to!! I always get the chicken tikka or beef bihari. They're around $8.50 :)

Larricia B.

Yelp
My husband and I chose to grab Rolling Phatties to go. I ordered the Chicken Tika phattie and masala fries,he ordered the quesadilla a drink and the Gulab Jamun bunt cake. The order was incorrect! Let's start there!! They gave my husband a beef Phattie instead! Mind you this was our first time visiting this place. The cashier told my husband he could have the cake free of charge. We were surprised and took it as a nice gesture as it appeared to be the last cake. My husband said he mentioned that it wasn't up to their standards. We get home and realize that the "free gift" had mold in the center!!! NOT UP TO THEIR STANDARDS?!? Ummm more like to anyone's standards!!! I'm not sure why anyone would knowingly pass off food that obviously doesn't follow the health code?! Thank God we inspected the food before eating it!! We will not be returning to this place. If you can serve spoiled desserts what else are you serving that isn't up to code?!..... BEWARE!!!

Amanda T.

Yelp
Came to the Post location and had some questions I wanted to ask before ordering. I went up to the cashier who was busy taking a personal call and thought she was going to hang up to do her job. She did not. She looked up and pointed to the QR code and then went back to her conversation. I ordered online. When I picked up my order the lady cashier was still on her phone and wouldn't give me the time of day. She handed me my order which was all wrong but I knew she couldn't be bothered to fix it so I said it was fine and walked away with my messed up order. Chicken tikka was dry. Awful customer service. As much as I want to support local business, the cashier made me feel bad for even ordering from them. Get a new cashier who actually wants business and doesn't talk on her phone nonstop

Luke L.

Yelp
My words will not do this food justice. It was excellent it was a beautiful blend of flavors that made for an amazing meal.

Amy L.

Yelp
Delicious as always! Rollin phatties never disappoints us. Their new location is fun too!
