Sen. Schumer Explains How the 2021 Stimulus Bill Will Help Restaurants | Eater

"A beloved New York pizzeria the speaker rates highest after informally surveying local slices; it’s celebrated for a spicy, robust sauce (not smooth or overly sweet), a thin, malty crust, and generous, high-quality cheese. The speaker evaluates pies by sauce, crust, and cheese and considers this spot the best overall." - Amanda Kludt

NYC’s Top Pizza Slices, Mapped - Eater NY

"This Upper East Side mainstay has been pumping out the slices since 1997, offering a sauce slightly sweeter and chunkier than average. Our favorite is the grandma, a square slice in the upside down formation, meaning that the cheese is on the bottom and the sauce on top, so that the imperially thin crust doesn’t get soggy. That the crust is also on the thin size for a square slice, and a little bit oily, is an added bonus, and so is the shredded basil sprinkled on top." - Robert Sietsema

Google
This was a perfect place to stop on the way back from a night out in the West Village. We were visiting a friend in the UES and when the group said we needed a slice of pizza, she said "wait, let me put you on real quick" and shepherded us to this glowing haven amid the city at night. I ordered what I call a Tie Dye slice as well as a meat lovers slice. Both were thin, crispy, and tasty. The meat lovers left something to be desired but the Tie Dye... I don't even know where to begin. It was a flavor explosion and I will be dreaming about that slice for the next few months. Service was quick and convenient

Google
My pizza dough wasn’t cooked throughly. NOT ONLY THAT THE GIRL THAT WORKS THERE WAS IGNORING ME BEING RUDE HANDING ME MY MONEY IN A RUDE WAY AND THREW MY SODA ON THE COUNTERTOP until I addressed her she wanted to be smiling acting all confused. Not how you treat customers don’t recommend.

Google
Decent spot for the basics at a fair price that opens late. I recommend the steak & cheese & fried calamari, also dont sleep on the grilled chicken salad. I'll have to stop by in person to try their pizza.

Google
No matter the meal, the food is always very good at this Roma location and at a fair/reasonable price! From the pizza to the pasta dishes to the hamburger and fries, every meal is cooked to perfection and tasty. Their service is always great too, particularly from Javier the Manager to Ruby at the counter to most recently Mike one of the managers on duty. Highly recommend this restaurant for a quick pizza slice or meal!

Google
Clean restaurant with plenty of seating. Unfortunately, both times I’ve been - the crust on my pizza shattered and the cheese was rubbery.

Google
Solid pizza to get after a night out. Is it the best in UES? Definitely not. But if you’ve had a drink or 2 and you’re itching for a bite… they have a ton of variety and you’ll definitely satisfy your craving

If you are in the area and want a good and quick slice of pizza Come to this spot, good selections of pizza and pasta, missing a little of the Italian flavor but representing the NY style slice. The crust needed to be a bit more crunchy but it wasn’t bad. If they get the Italian flavor in the sauce they get the 5 stars. I’ll come again.

Google
Great pizzeria, many choices here. Chicken cesar pizza being my favorite slice and the ricotta pizza. Also the salads with chicken is pretty good. This location has better quality food, over their other location on 3rd Ave. The guys here are great as well.

Yelp
This is definitely the best , most consistent, pizza in the area. They have a wide variety of slices and their classics, like margharita, cheese, vodka, etc. are really solid. Not to mention the staff is so friendly! The UES is lacking 5 star pizza spots but Roma is pretty reliable
google avatar

Yelp
Happy that they are open super late on a Friday night. Even after midnight they have all types of pizzas ready to be devoured after a late night bar hop or workout to refuel.
google avatar

Yelp
They have a great New York slice for a great price! There's a large seating area as well and they are open late and are the perfect place to come in and grab a quick bite. They also have a gluten free pizza option and are able to make a full mini gluten free pizza.

Yelp
I know that there are several of these in the city. Only went to this location as I have family who live nearby. Walking back from an event, stopped in to get a couple of slices to take back to the house. Pizza transported well, 4 slices filled the whole box, and it was overlapping at that. Place was clean, people were friendly, nice selection of ready to go. Had a sausage, onion, bell pepper slice and a chicken mushroom slice. The other 2 were a Mediterranean slice and a pepperoni slice. Got to have bites from each one as they were so big, we sliced each one in half once home. Family goes there at least a couple of times a week. I can see why. Hope if you are in the area that you give them a try. I know everyone has their favorites but it's definitely worth stopping in.

Yelp
Really good tasting pizza! I really enjoyed the pizza! Low yeast taste and good sauce. Chewy cheese and just right! I have passed by this place for so many years. I'm glad i stopped in. Very well lit and vibe.

Yelp
Roma Pizza is a solid choice for a slice or two if your in the Upper East Side. Besides the basics they have plenty of choices in specialty pies, as well as a few Sicilian slices. So if your into something unique, chances are they will have it! Prompt and friendly staff is always nice, and reasonable prices make the value fair. The inside offers several tables to sit, but no outlets for charging your phone while you eat, thats ok this isn't a cafe after all! The bathroom is also clean which is always a plus! Next time I'm in the area I plan on grabbing a slice here again!

Yelp
I really wanted a Hawaiian Pizza so ended up getting a personal sized pizza with Pepperoni, Pineapples, and Onions. Taste buds were happy with the sweet and savory flavors as well as stringy cheese. Speaking of cheese, I also ordered a Cheesesteak Wrap, which was packed with meat. I ate half of the wrap and half of the pizza so had leftovers for lunch the next day. Yum!

Yelp
Yep. Great selection. Reasonable. Comfy seating-helpful guy- extensive menu- Always like the chicken parm slice

Fiona M.

Yelp
Sooo good! The current reviews are definitely underrated of this place. It's at least a 4.5 star restaurant imo
google avatar

Yelp
My go to spot. Large selection. Wonderful beverages too. Delightful service. Ruby is the consummate professional. Very reasonably priced too !

Yelp
I thought this place had decent pizza. It's not the best pizza I've ever had and sometimes the service can be slow. The slices of the pizza are a very decent size and the prices are very reasonable. I also like the fact that the place is open late at night until 4am. It would be a good late night meal location if you ever need it.

Yelp
First of all, when paying for a large pie tonight at 6PM on Jan 10th, a short Latina woman snatched the money from my hand in a wild, aggressive sweeping motion. The first time I went over a month ago, the Latino employees were talking in Spanish and laughing hysterically the entire time I waited for my slices. The employees hostility and attitude and unprofessionalism aside... The pizza actually tastes good. The problems are the dough was under-cooked (the crust was doughy and clearly under-baked) There wasn't enough sauce and too much cheese and too much crust. I am guessing this is a way to save money, just throw on tons of cheap cheese and dough but avoid using enough tomato sauce. I would just suggest they bake the pizza longer in the oven as it was clearly under-baked, use more sauce and use less bread (so much crust the pizza tastes more like a garlic knot than a slice) And you don't need that much cheese either. These are all simple corrections but I doubt anything will change. The prices are also astronomical for the value you are getting. Let's be real. I wasn't born yesterday...The latino staff is most likely too busy laughing at or cracking jokes at the expense of "wealthy caucasian residents" who they most likely resent, or being aggressively hostile towards them to care if they get business. I will watch my weight and health and avoid pizza altogether, so no worries. Mimi's Pizza is also average pizza, and i tried another 3 or 4 pizzerias in the area... the Upper East Side in 2025 has no clue how to make good pizza or slices.

Yelp
Great pizza, super affordable, free deliveries, and open until 2am?? Yes please!! Also, their chocolate chip cake is fabulous. I'm gonna be trying their cheesecake next!
google avatar

Nicole F.

Yelp
Seems like a great neighborhood pizza place. I only had a veggie slice and it was really good because there were a lot of different veggies on it and the dough was crispy. Clean interior plus seating outside. The other slices looked great so I'll definitely come back to try them.
google avatar

Danan R.

Yelp
It's still a solid neighborhood pizza go-to, even amongst all of the newer entrants to the market, and their extended hours are perfect when you're looking for a slice that will satisfy a "second" dinner craving. The crust is in between Delizia's and Gotham when it comes to crispness and it has decent reheat value. The menu is pretty extensive so there will be something for everyone - even if they opt for a slice of cheesecake or tiramisu.
google avatar

Raphael P.

Yelp
Got a sausage and pepperoni slice, the temperature was executed well and the slice itself was solid. Great efficiency and the restaurant location has versatile hours and is open relatively late. Good spot for a slice.

Yelp
I love Roma pizza! This is my go-to pizza place whenever I'm craving for pizza! I have eaten here a few times and my favorites are their white pizza and garlic knots! I love how their pizzas are not too greasy and they usually put a lot of cheese and toppings on each slice. Their garlic knots are very garlicky and they are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Roma pizza also has a huge menu! Other than pizza, they also have salads, subs, pasta etc. I have also tried their pasta with clam white sauce in the past. It tasted great but it was a little greasy. They don't close until 4am so if you're hungry in the middle of the night, highly recommend you to get some late night pizzas from them!

Yelp
The best place about this place is the variety of slices available any given time. Their pizza, sandwiches, and pasta dinners are pretty solid. The staff is also friendly and helpful. Check them out if you are in the upper east side, 1st and 88th.
google avatar

Yelp
A classic pizza grab-and-go pizza place, but with more options. It had an almost retro decor, with lots of seating. There were plenty of pies to choose from with heros and a bunch of other options. The Chicken Parm hero I got was decent. It kinda lacked flavor and was pretty dry. The chicken was also rubbery and a bit over cooked. The breading didn't have much flavor and there wasn't enough sauce to moisten the hero up. The hero only ran me like 9 bucks though, and the prices were overall pretty fair. Will likely swing by a couple more times bc it's 2 min away from my crib and I want to try their other food.

Yelp
Ordered a large 2 topping pizza & my family was given an "old" cheese pizza w/toppings thrown on, instead of a freshly made one. The crust was old, very hard, reheated & thrown out! Shameful & never returning.

Yelp
Classic, delish NYC pizza. Roma is located on 88th and first, moving from its longtime location on 88th and 3rd. The location on 3rd was a regular stop for us for a long time, but over time it became a bit run down and sloppy. The new local is fresh, and the food is delish. Came here with my wife, and kids ages 18 and 14. It was lunch and when we first arrived it was not crowded, but in our 45 minute stop it became more crowded. Like most NYC neighborhood pizza places, it has 5-10 tables and you seat yourself. Order at the counter and enjoy the food. The vibe is lively and casual. For food we ordered individual slices, including cheese, pepperoni and margarita. They have lots of other choices, It for me the classic cheese is the way to go. We also order a cheesesteak and mozzarella sticks. The sauce with the sticks was incredible. All good for awesome. There are many other great food options, and this is a must stop if in NYC. Go! Here! Now!!

Kayla M.

Yelp
One of the best and most flavorful pizza slices I've ever had! Massive slice for a reasonable price, great blend of sauces and great quality food. Staff was friendly and helpful with my order.

Asia L.

Yelp
When the manager isn't in the store the service over the phone is terrible. Calling and asking for that manager is a hard task, I've called this place for delivery and have always been giving an issue. Either they switch up the delivery price. Or they can understand me and keep on hold for more than 5 minutes. If the owners was there more often customer service would be better
google avatar

Marinna J.

Yelp
Excellent assortment of foods and each choice is delicious, quick, and well portioned! Whenever I am on 3rd avenue, I must stop for a slice or a salad... so worth it and the price! Also they are open super late! A plus in a city that now sleeps after 11p since Covid!

Yelp
If your a NYC pizza purist, you get a cheese pizza. And this is by far the best just plain cheese pizza anywhere in the city. Better than Joe's in the Village, better than Brooklyn. Worth a trip to the UES. T

Enrico P.

Yelp
Fresh fast friendly. The pizza here is really good, with an exciting array of toppings and combos. Rainbow cake was NOT fresh, but the tiramisu is really good. Fast, accurate delivery too.
google avatar

Tiffany T.

Yelp
The pasta is a large enough serving for like three people, it's massive. Pretty solid spot.
google avatar

Latha P.

Yelp
I ordered pizza and sandwiches for my building staff. They enjoyed it very much. Chicken parmigiana was a big hit.

Paul G.

Yelp
The pizza was delicious I had the thin crust and my daughter had the thick crust they both was delicious yes I recommend you to stop by and get some if you're in New York.

Joshua D.

Yelp
Great Pizza . Quick service. Highly recommended trying out the meal options they offer as well as their slices.

Marisa L.

Yelp
We order Roma all the time. Great slices and great knots. You gotta grab a late night slice

Andres V.

Yelp
Great pizza, BBQ chicken and buffalo pizza were delicious. Great service from staff! I will be returning.

Yelp
If you loved geometry back when you were in school, then naturally pizza must be your favorite food. Think about it... What other food out there has so many shapes involved? A ROUND pizza packed in a SQUARE box eaten in TRIANGLES. Luckily for us, Roma Pizza located smack dab in the middle of Manhattan serves up some of the biggest triangular slices this side of Central Park. If I know anything to be true, I know that New Yorkers love Pizza and their unique take on it is represented very well here at Roma. Whether you want a simple pie with just cheese or you feel like decorating your pizza like last year's Christmas tree, at Roma's your `Pie is your Oyster'. This is the kinda place where you come in off the street, order a slice or two at the counter and take a load off at a table of your choosing. After you are done, throw away your trash and head off into the sunset. So the next time you find yourself on the Upper East Side and feel like a slice of NYC, come see how Roma's Pizza stays in such great SHAPE.

Heroes for t.

Yelp
Not great pizza but it was good, near a bus stop across from Harry Potter store, and cheap. Very helpful, friendly staff. Line moved fast. Hey and it folds!

Yelp
I've been a very very loyal customer for a couple of years. Tonight Their credit card machine went down which was fine. I patiently waited. I offered to pay cash, then I had to ask three different people for my chicken fingers cause we were going on 15 minutes and all they did was ignore me and snip at me so I left my pizza and the chicken, took my cash and my credit card and I left. So you treat a patient loyal customers like crap, got it.

Sylvia A.

Yelp
This review is for delivery. I ordered a large pie of margherita pizza and was disappointed. The margherita sauce were not made from fresh tomatoes as I expected but more like a salsa dip. Pizza crust was crispy but not my favorite. Roma seems to have a better Yelp and google reviews rating than La mia pizza several blocks down but I really like their margherita pizza better. The dough is more chewy which is what I preferred.
google avatar

Fitima R.

Yelp
I just ordered from this restaurant online through Uber eats and what I ordered and what came is completely different. I don't know if they ran out of ingredients or the person that making the sandwiches didn't understand what ingredients are supposed to be in an Italian combination hero but the whole sandwich was completely wrong. They need to pay attention and not send people the wrong or incomplete orders!!

Bek B.

Yelp
Quality is hit and miss. Lately, cleanliness and quality has gone way down. Today received warm bread with both green AND black mold spores all over it.
google avatar

Jude S.

Yelp
I love this pizza shop, definitely one of the better pizza spots in this neighborhood, they make a quality slice for an affordable price. And they also make delicious pasta.
google avatar

Mitch G.

Yelp
Very similar to Luigi food, the pizza place that was here before,, but renovated and reborn as Roma. It is located on 88th street and 1st ave. Don't confuse it with the place 9n 3rd Ave. I attached pics of their menu.

Joshua M.

Yelp
Food is normally good but they can't take an order at all. Last three orders I made from here came out all wrong but the last one was inedible and I threw out the whole thing. Used to love the food and now I don't think I'll go back
google avatar

Mike N.

Yelp
Roma is a really good no-frills pizza spot. My favorite slice they offer is the vodka chicken, which is just as good as it sounds and looks. Their plain slice is also superb. I've gotten their chicken rolls too in the past, which were great. They took over the old luigis on 1st Ave, and they have a great spot with good amount of seating.
google avatar

N S.

Yelp
Good margarita slice Plenty of seating inside to enjoy your slice It's actually cool inside thanks to air conditioning that keeps pizza oven heat at bay They have juniors cheesecake ! Yum Kind staff

Jude W.

Yelp
This is fire One of the best Sicilian slices I've ever eaten. Will come back if I'm ever close.
google avatar

Mark T.

Yelp
Roma has been my go to pizzeria for many years. Their food is made from higher than usual quality ingredients. Their slices are always good with a large selection of toppings. I've also had their wraps, salads, and hot subs which are very good. This place can be very busy with walk ins, delivery orders, food apps, etc. so at times be prepared to wait a few extra minutes. For those complaining about bad / slow delivery...get up off the sofa and go to the location directly, order it fresh and take it home yourself. Yes, that's an option. Try it.

k k.

Yelp
Ordered two gluten free pies from Roma. The crust is pretty standard for what gluten free crusts are. The customer service however was awesome. I wanted a sausage and mushroom pizza and once they started making it, realized the sausage had gluten in it. I missed the call from the owner and when I called back, he mentioned that he subbed the sausage for grilled chicken instead. As a celiac, it was awesome to have people in food service pay attention to dietary restrictions because any other place would've probably just given me the sausage and made me sick. 10/10!!!! Thank you Roma!

Michael S.

Yelp
Pizza and service were excellent. Haven't been here in awhile... but after steady 15 years ...sorry to Say the food was mediocre Everything was spiced more than previously and the lobster dish missed!

debbie a.

Yelp
Nasty , horrible service. There's 4 to 5 people trying to take your order and they are all nasty stay away from this place.
google avatar

Kaelin R.

Yelp
The food was really good and the staff was decent when I stopped in after work. However, I Stopped frequenting once one of the employees decided to take my best friends phone number from her order and text her inappropriately later in the day. Mind you she is a minor which isn't the point. The number being left is for questions about the order or for delivery not to be a creep. Will not be returning.
