I recently visited an Italian restaurant for the second time, hoping for a better experience after a challenging first visit. The first time, we had to wait nearly 45 minutes just to get a server to bring us water, which led us to leave in frustration. Fortunately, our second visit showed noticeable improvements.
Upon arrival, we were promptly seated, which was a great start. However, the experience quickly became awkward when I found a hair in my wine. The staff handled the situation well, replacing the wine immediately after I pointed it out. Despite this, there was a palpable sense that the staff was overly attentive, almost as if they recognized us from our previous visit and were trying extra hard to impress us. This made the atmosphere feel a bit strained.
The food itself was good. While it wasn't the best Italian cuisine I've had, it was decent enough. I could tell that the owner, who is also the chef, genuinely cares about bringing the authentic flavors of Rome to his customers. This was particularly evident when we saw him passionately making pasta from scratch. His dedication to his craft was truly inspiring, and it's clear that he pours his heart into his work.
However, the service still left room for improvement. The servers always seemed like they were in a rush, giving the impression that there wasn't enough staff to help them. This sense of being hurried detracted slightly from the dining experience.
