Ronin 浪人 - Review - Chinatown - Milan - The Infatuation

"Ronin is a buzzy Pan-Asian restaurant-bar-karaoke spot on the edge of Chinatown. Dreamy neon-soaked aesthetics of Wong Kar-wai meet the stylized worlds of Quentin Tarantino, with cozy private karaoke rooms on the upper levels, and an open kitchen restaurant where DJs spin from aperitivo hour until late night. It’s perfect for a pre-karaoke bite or a late-night snack—skip the fish sando and go for the izakaya with Italian spins, like okonomiyaki with pancetta and spicy escarole, yuzu goma, and furikake. photo credit: Laura Baiardini" - Elizabeth De Filippo-Jones

We stopped by House of Ronin in Milano for a casual evening and were pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was warm and stylish, with a great DJ set spinning vinyl that gave the space a laid-back but lively vibe. We had two cocktail, creative and well balanced and shared some Japanese rolls as appetizers, which were light and flavorful. It’s the kind of place where you can just drop in for drinks, enjoy good music, and end up staying longer than planned. Definitely worth a visit if you’re into cocktails with a twist and a cool ambiance.

We took the two combos Zensai and Gyoza at Piccolo Ronin very well done and fresh sushi. The service was impeccable and very welcoming, we also had a few drinks on the other floor too and were invited to play Pool if we wanted. Overall very recommended and a special place in Milan.

The waiters were extremely nice, I love everything about this place. Very hip. The decor and lighting makes you want to take photos all the time. **The only downside is that one of the neighbors complained about the high volume so there is no music after 10 PM, and before that, it’s at a low volume

Be cautious — this place feels like a scam. While the food is decent, the menu is deliberately confusing, seemingly designed to steer you into ordering an outrageously overpriced omakase. We ended up spending over €150 per person, which is absurd for Milan given the quality and quantity of what’s offered. Definitely not worth the price.

We had dinner at Robata, the restaurant on the first floor, and I must say the food was absolutely delicious—my favorite was the tuna nigiri roll. The staff were incredibly attentive, with Paolo, who mostly served us, being especially kind and helpful. Although we couldn’t visit the bar upstairs due to a private event, it didn’t detract from the experience, as the atmosphere was wonderful. As a thoughtful touch, they even offered us a complimentary shot to end the meal. I’ll definitely be returning!

For our anniversary we went to Ronin Robata. ✨ From the beginning you see and feel that there is a higher level of service: a cloakroom to leave your coats, a person to guide you to the table, a very attentive waiter and a manager. ♦️ The place is stunning as well, it differs from any other in Milan a lot. Red dark light, branded dishes and beautiful thought-through interior. We ordered gyoza with vitello 🥟, nigiri mix 🍣, a pigeon 🕊️, a maialino 🐖, a chocolate desert with caramel 🍮 and a house desert with a kind of meringa ☁️, plus a glass of white wine and a glass of sake 🥂. 😍 Everything was beyond expectations, everything had a special taste that made you crave for more of each dish. 😠 The only minus of it all were ugly bottles of water - yes, it is a well known brand Acqua Panna, but when everything is so stylish and branded with the logo of the place, it is sad to see the huge label on the bottle which is out of the concept - the water could be easily brought in a simple glass carafe. Plus, 5€ for a bottle is exaggerated, and they brought us two without asking. I would rather pay more for the service itself than for a bottle of regular water. ✨ Apart from this, everything else was great. 💸 ~ 80€ x person

We went to Piccolo, the bar was empty at 11pm on a Thursday. We asked the waiter to help us order but we mainly came for drinks and snacks and he ordered basically the entire menu for us and it was way too much. The food was not good at all except maybe one dish or two that were edible and okay so overall a waste of time and money.

Great dinner with excellent service and tasty food, also the cocktails are very delicious. Perfect for a night with friends where you start with a drink, have dinner upstairs and then book a karaoke room for a couple of hours.
