Rooh Columbus

I was visiting this place after 4.5 years, and unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing compared to what it used to be. I am not sure whether there has been a change in management or new chefs in the kitchen, but the overall taste and quality of the food have noticeably declined. I ordered several items, including the Mango Mule, Kababs, Chaat, Biryani, Keema, Dal, and a few more dishes. Out of everything we tried, the only item that truly tasted good was the Lamb Keema. The rest lacked the flavor, balance, and freshness that this restaurant once delivered so well. It felt far from the standards I remembered from my previous visits. Another odd experience was being served entrées and main courses on quarter plates. It simply didn’t make sense to place substantial dishes on such small plates, especially when sharing. I had to specifically request the server to bring larger plates so that we could properly enjoy the meal. To be fair, the server was polite, attentive, and efficient, and I have no complaints regarding the service. The staff did their best, and their professionalism stood out. However, the atmosphere felt dull, lacking the vibrant energy and warmth that once made the place enjoyable. Overall, it was not the experience I had hoped for after so many years.

This is one of the Indian fine dining restaurants located in downtown Columbus. The ambiance and location are excellent, and there’s also an attached bar. The menu is limited but includes both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. If you’re looking to enjoy authentic Indian flavors in a fine dining setting, this is a great choice. However, if you’re a foodie or prefer generous portions, this place might not be ideal, as the quantities are small and prices are on the higher side.

Where to even begin- as a newbie to the Columbus area, Rooh is absolutely the BEST dinner we’ve had so far! The food is absolutely unbelievable, with showstopping flavors that are super aromatic and a pleasure to share!! The Beef short rib was so fragrant with a delicious curry and paired perfectly with a side of garlic naan- still drooling over it!! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming: our bartender was super knowledgeable about all the cuisine/ the chefs specialities, and he also made us outstanding cocktails! Rooh is the best Indian restaurant we've ever visited in Columbus. There is an elegance to everything ordered, and the flavors are truly impeccable. We ordered butter chicken, palak paneer, nawabi malai kofta, lamb shank nihari with garlic naan, and rice. The butter chicken and palak paneer stood out for their incredible texture and flavor. I particularly loved the lamb shank; the sauce was flavorful, and the lamb was beautifully tender. The butter chicken is also amazing, offering complexity to its flavors. I highly recommend pairing it with the garlic naan. The mango lassi was also fresh and we ordered carrot halwa cake in dessert and it was delicious —all were top-notch dishes. The food presentation reminiscent of high end restaurants that focus on simplicity, texture and flavors. The service was great, and the staff was friendly, even though the place was packed and busy since we went over the weekend. I definitely plan to visit again soon.

FOR VEGANS AND VEGETARIANS: One of the best Indian food restaurants I’ve been to in a long time. From the ambience, to the service and friendliness, to, of course, the food itself, everything was impeccable. The food choices are extremely varied for a vegetarian which was amazing and the staff was able to accommodate additional dietary restrictions/allergies which was a huge plus. I would come back here regularly to eat; the food and experience were equally amazing

I love this evolution of Indian cuisine! Some elevated, creative, and contemporary dishes with a nice range of cocktails/wine in a upscale, yet comfortable setting. I recommend splitting dishes to get a range of the menu. With that said, the short rib is a must. Period. And be sure to get plenty of naan to soak up the sauces!

I was excited to try this place after the franklin park cocktail competition. Got a margarita, a mule, the sweet potato chaat, saag, garlic naan and chili naan. Fellow diner got the pista sour and paan clouds and kofta. The drinks have great profiles. My only gripe is that it is $14 for an immensely small amount of fluid. My mango mule was served in a comically tiny glass that had mostly ice in it, and I literally finished it in two small drinks. The taste though - fantastic. The chaat was also very good and I recommend this shareable/starter type plate. The entrees and naan were terrible. I requested spicy, and there weren't a lick of spice in anything. Both mains (kofta and saag) were shockingly bland, tiny amounts served on noisy textured plates. The saag is a blob of gooey baked feta in a bland green sauce. I did sense a small amount of a cinnamoney type flavor, but that's it. I do not recommend this type of cheese at all for saag. The kofta was bizarre and actually tasted like unseasoned American breakfast gravy. The pale white stuff, but with no pepper or seasoning. The bread was insulting. The chili naan is an $8 single piece of bread that honestly looks like a late-night drunk college student's microwave creation. A hardened, greasy piece of bread that someone put some type of yellow or orange cheese on it and it hardened. The garlic naan is a single piece of bread cut in half and served in a casket for precisely no reason. Obviously we didn't eat it all, and I think I could help the gravies with some seasoning so I asked for togo boxes. They do not offer to box your items, you have to do it at your tiny table, shuffling the plates and glasses to try and make room. Last, you have to have a cellphone to read the food menu because they don't have paper menus for food, only drinks. That should have been my warning, but I will say that a business that charges 8 bucks for a single piece of bread and $14 for 3 ounces of fluid can afford to print a paper menu for their patrons and box their takeaways. While whoever is curating the drink profiles is clearly a wonderfully talented and skilled person, I don't recommend, unfortunately.

We had a fantastic dining experience at Rooh. The highlight of our meal was the sweet potato chaat—perfectly balanced flavors and textures made it our favorite dish of the night. The short ribs were incredibly tender with a deep, rich flavor, and the lamb shank was equally well-prepared. Since we visited during happy hour, we had the chance to try several cocktails, and each one was well-crafted and enjoyable. With great food, well-executed cocktails, and a vibrant atmosphere, Rooh is definitely a spot we’d recommend and return to!

Restaurant Week Edition: My wife and I have been wanting to try this place out for a while now. I'm glad we were finally able to! The food was exceptional! I'm not very familiar with Indian food so I was open to trying anything. They had a three course for $50 special menu. I ordered the Butter Chicken Bombas, lamb burrah chop, and the crème brûlée. Everything was delicious! Service was very friendly. I enjoyed the aesthetics of the restaurant. It stayed consistently busy so getting a reservation is a must. I can't wait to come back and try something new!

If you are looking for a great date night atmosphere, AMAZING customer service and to top it off amazing authentic Indian Cuisine then you must look no further! I've been too ROOH twice now and sat at the bar twice gotten a few drinks and a few apps and everything has been absolutely delicious! Can't wait to go back and finally get some entrees!

Rooh is wonderful in every way. And if you can make it for their 5:00 - 6:00pm happy hour, you'll be in heaven. All drinks and small plates are $9 which is a steal given the high quality of everything. With one exception, there wasn't anything that touched my lips that I wouldn't recommend giving a try. That line caveat is that a supply issue forced them to sub in edamame for chickpeas in the Avocado & Green Chickpea Bhel, which diminished the dish's overall taste. Beyond that, we had great service in an elegant setting. I would definitely recommend it for a nice date or special occasion.

I had been wanting to try this spot and restaurant week was the push I needed to get here. They didn't offer us the regular menu, but we did see other people order off of it; we ordered off the restaurant week menu but it would have been nice to see what else was available. Our server was super kind and attentive. My water was never empty, which goes a long way with me! We started with the cheese pav rolls and the chicken bombas. Both were good but the bombas were incredible. For my main course I got the butter chicken which was phenomenal. The garlic naan is so tasty, and great to dip in the sauces, but equally delicious on its own. For dessert we got the mango crème brûlée and the carrot cake. My husband liked the carrot cake more and I liked the mango brûlée more, but safe to say they were both good. Situated in a chic and well decorated space, this is a nice spot to grab some good Indian food

I was for sure positive I already wrote a review for this place, but somehow nothings showing, so here it goes... again, haha: October 2023, I met Anna H. for happy hour to check this place out. Walking in the setting is nice, somewhat on the minimalist side. We sat at the bar. If I remember correctly, there weren't any purse hooks under the bar; that would be a great addition. I don't recall much anything about service, so it must have been decent. I also (apparently) forgot to take pictures of their menus, so I can't comment on their offerings as a whole. Straight to the food. I absolutely looooved the Wild Mushroom Kulcha. It was wildly good, far above our other dishes we tried. The fresh grated cheeses mixed with the truffle oil was incredibly flavorful. The bread was light too, leaving room to savor the taste and try the other dishes. The other dishes we tried: - A cooked cauliflower app that was "wok fried" in a sweet sauce - good - A Shrimp app - lightly fried and served with a green chutney Don't recall the flavors, but I do remember liking the dish - Last app dish was a beef balls concoction I believe. The white dollop on top was something of a sour cream like consistency. I had a good time stopping in overall. However, based on this first and only visit I've had to Rooh thus far, I probably wouldn't venture back, at least not based on a solo decision. If friends picked this spot, sure. I think I got a thin air of pretentiousness, but that's a personal feeling, so take it as you will.

Went for Restaurant Week and we ended up going off the regular menu! The Sweet Potato Chaat was probably my favorite thing all night. That and the Dahi Puri and Carrot Halwa were awesome! We also ordered Butter Chicken - only received like 3 pieces of chicken slabs and they weren't pre-cut, not a big deal but not my fav. The Tiger Prawns were delicious though but also only 5 prawns. The garlic naan was delicious but small, I wish the plates came with naan AND rice. But I mean these are usual things to expect from a fancy restaurant. The Chai Tiramisu was really good and light/fluffy but we thought it was really lacking any chai flavor, it tasted like a normal tiramisu! Service was amazing! The waitress was super attentive and I don't think our glasses ever stayed more than half empty. She was on it!

Small portions at a large price tag Short ribs were served cold (not my preference) Garlic naan was tasty Large plates are reported to serve 2 people, but I can't imagine a situation where 2 people with any sort of appetite will be sustained. I've had homemade Indian, family owned restaurants, and franchises and this experience didn't match any of those in taste or value

Rooh is a chain. But some of my friends had been before and recommended coming for dinner! A friend of mine had the lamb shank Nihari during restaurant week and recommended I try it. I ordered that while my vegetarian friends got the saag and the kofta. The portions look small, but I'm guessing they put cream in it? I was full by the end! It's a much more elevated experience so the food is pricey. But the lamb tasted like it was a high quality and my friend's saag tasted really fresh! We got drinks as well, which were very much Indian-inspired with certain types of flavors and seasonings. Very unique! We all enjoyed what we got! We came midweek and it wasn't busy. My friend had made a 7:30 reservation but there were so many tables open. I liked the vibe. Very nicely decorated and they were playing music by Indian artists. You can find parallel parking, but it was difficult to find a spot so I parked at a nearby garage.

I came here on a Saturday night for a friend's birthday. This area is always very busy on Saturdays and the parking is a little rough, but there is a garage nearby so it wasn't too bad. The first thing I noticed when I came in is how cute the decorations are. The seats and table and wallpaper and even glasses/plates were SO CUTE. When we were sat our server came over, she was very nice but the restaurant was super loud and a lot of times it was difficult to hear. We ordered cauliflower koliwada, shrimp pepper fry, nawabi kofta, tiger prawns, butter chicken, and beef short ribs. I LOVED the shrimp pepper fry and cauliflower koliwada. The entrees were good too but definitely not as good as the appetizers. A MUST TRY is the chilies & cheese naan. I'm usually a garlic naan girl myself but omg this was the best naan ever. The website says the food is Indian fusion and I'm not sure what it's fused with lol but it's definitely not authentic. If you've never tried Indian before it may be a good intro but was definitely as spicy/flavorful as the Indian I'm used to. For dessert my friends got free ice cream for their birthdays. They have lots of fun flavors and we got the pumpkin tamarind, salted jaggery, and the carrot cake with saffron. The salted jaggery was probably the best ice cream I've ever had. The two ice creams came out super early and then they started bringing our checks before we even got the cake. I was going to tell them to not worry about it but then they brought it out so the timing was definitely off and inconvenient. The cake itself was very unusual it was super spongy and dense, but overall it was pretty good. I would come back again if I'm in the area. The service was decent and the food was good but would not recommend if you're looking for anything near authentic Indian.

Upscale quality Indian food. They change the menu frequently to keep it interesting. Once we ordered the entire menu for a party and everything was of great quality with fresh ingredients. My all time favorite dish was the lamb shank, not sure if still on the menu.

A really amazing, elegant culinary experience! I feel that this is the type of place you need to go out of your comfort zone and try new things if you are not familiar with Indian cuisine. I had no preconceived notion for a few of these dishes and was blown away by the Paan Clouds drink and Lamb Keema Hyderabadi. I also recommend coming for happy hour for great prices and so you can try lots of amazing appetizers! I really enjoy myself every time I'm here and we are so lucky to have such a unique restaurant in Columbus!

Rooh Columbus is a great spot for anyone looking to experience a modern twist on Indian cuisine while still enjoying the authentic flavors. The dishes are creative, but they don't compromise on the depth and richness of traditional Indian flavors. It's the perfect balance of contemporary flair and authenticity. Every dish I tried was flavorful and well-executed, showcasing the chef's skill in blending modern techniques with Indian spices. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique and delicious dining experience!

We were sadly so disappointed. The food tasted decent, but for the price point, I expect exquisite flavors or huge portions. Neither delivered. The pista sour was fair, but the tiniest alcohol drink I've ever had. The naan was small. They have no menu, there's a QR code. We ordered the sampler and it didn't come with the red pepper chutney. The server said the menu has not been updated. Why? At $32 for a beef entree, they should be able to update the electronic menu.

First time trying Indian food! I got Sweet Potato, Butter Chicken and Mango Ice cream. Everything was sooooo goooooood, so perfect to me! Before I went there I had no idea what I was going to get and I have to say from my picky personal opinion, this place is very very nice, the food was so delicious, the presentation was the best! If I didn't listen to my husband this time and went somewhere else, I would be really regret it! I love the Sweet potato the most, with everything that came: crispy kale, yogurt mouse, really everything! I will go back to Rooh and get this again and again. My butter chicken was very nice too, the curry not spicy, the chicken was cooked perfectly soft! Donna our server was super sweet and very smart, she can answer and explain every questions we had. Rooh has been on my want-to-eat list for what seems like forever, but my favorite dinner partners aren't big Indian food fans. So I was so happy during the last restaurant week that someone agreed to come with me! First, as everyone knows, it's beautiful inside. We had a lovely table by the window. We started with cocktails that were delicious. Was so happy that the waiter- who was incredible- basically told us what to order (I'm vegetarian and gluten intolerant) and the choices were amazing! The appetizer I got - Sweet Potato Chaat- was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Will definitely be back for that. My main dish - the stuffed Indian eggplant- was also good, but not as amazing at the chaat. My dinner partner liked his meal too and also agreed that he would come back (and remember, he's not an Indian food fan). Service was exceptional and really helped. I thought it was a good serving size, and the price was higher, but it makes for a special night out.

Exactly what it describes itself to be, Rooh Columbus takes Indian food and gives it some modern flair! My friends and I visited Columbus for the first time, decided to come for dinner and were luckily able to make a reservation the day of online. We were seated quickly and the restaurant was bustling. The interior was decorated nicely and our server was great! But the food is really what shined - the sweet potato chaat appetizer was amazing! All of the different textures in the dish made it so enjoyable. We ordered the butter chicken, biryani, and beef short ribs and all shared the dishes family style. Each of us had a different favorite, it was hard to choose! The butter chicken was extremely soft and tender, the chicken biryani meat was in a unique meatball form, and the beef short ribs just melted in your mouth. Can't go wrong with any of the dishes, highly recommend checking out Rooh!

Dinner at Rooh tonight! It was delicious. The inside of the restaurant is super cute and clean. I also loved the lighting. Staff was incredibly friendly and prompt. MANGO MULE-- refreshing with a nice flavorful spice CAULIFLOWER KOLIWADA-- had a nice crunch, very tasty! BUTTER CHICKEN -- SO good. it paired so well with the saffron rice and garlic naan. Had enough for leftovers too. 10/10

Modern Indian dining experience with a fusion of styles and flavors that are sublime. I ordered the Beef Short Rib Koftas (Madras curry powder, preserved lemon aioli, panko), Sweet Potato Chaat (Kale tempura, yogurt mousse, tamarind, cilantro mint chutney, broken raspberry) and Carrot Halwa Cake (Phirni mousse, saffron ice cream, roasted pistachio) for desert. Everything was a perfect portion, the service was fantastic and I only wish there was a location in Phoenix. Enjoy!

I got to try a few dishes here- I like fusion Indian places because they have creative twists on typical foods. The truffle mushroom kulcha was one of my favorites. I also had the chicken tikka kulcha which was good but not as good as the truffle one. I had the sweet potato chaat which was a lot of fried/slightly battered crispy spinach - it was actually hard instead of crispy but I gave them this feedback and they took it off my bill (that's rare for an Indian restaurant). The cauliflower Manchurian (crispy cauliflower fritters) were really good. For the main dish, we had the paneer pinwheel as well as the butter chicken. The paneer pinwheel had a good gravy, but I wasn't crazy about the butter chicken gravy- it was mediocre. We also had this other kofta dish with spinach gravy which was pretty good. We also had channa which was average. The ambience is pretty nice- a lot of non Indians come here, and it looks more casual than the typical dinner type Indian restaurant.

I recently went to Rooh for restaurant week on Friday 01/26/24 and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised! I have been to the rooh in Chicago a couple times when I lived there and thought that this Columbus one was wayy better overall! Food: 5/5! As the first course, we got the kheema and the shrimp, for the entree we got the nihari and the palak paneer, and for dessert we both got gulaab jamun with rabri. Everything was delicious!! The flavors were not muted down and the spices came through all the way. Nothing was overtly spicy just for the heck of it. I liked the Nihari the best - the meat fell of the bone seamlessly and the flavor reminded me of the Nihari I grew up eating in Bombay (I know!!). Drinks: I got the paan drink and it was SO good! I'll probably be going back just for that :) Ambience: chic inviting and upscale, but not stuffy. Service: our server was very helpful! Everyone was kind and professional. Will I return? Heck yeah!

Restaurant Week 2023 at Rooh. I have such mixed reviews of this place. On one hand, the butter chicken is incredible (usually). This time is was off for some reason. A couple of my bites of chicken tasted freezer burned. It really ruined my favorite dish. Usually this dish is off the charts. I also got a shrimp appetizer that was way too salty. The food just wasn't as good tonight. Here are a couple other issues that would elevate my dining experience. Downer 1: Nothing to drink if you don't want alcohol or sugar drinks. I ordered ice tea and was offered lemonade or hot tea with some ice. Many of us don't drink soda or high sugar drinks/cocktails. It would be nice to have an option like ice tea. Downer 2: They push a QR Code menu. Unfortunately, my phone never gets reception in this restaurant. I have 4 bars but no website will load when in this restaurant. They offered me to connect to their WIFi but I don't link to public Wi-Fi. Finally they brought me a paper menu. We should have done that in the first place. A nice higher end dining establishment should push us to be on our phones when out to eat with friends. This spot has so much potential. I want to like it more, but there are a handful of things that just made tonight disappointing. I've had better experiences here, tonight just wasn't one of them. Downer 3: Overpriced for what you get. I think the price point could come down a bit.

I was a bit disappointed coming to this restaurant. The food is mediocre Indian food. The prices are extremely extremely high for what the food is. The drinks were ok. I did like how there are unique drinks, like I got one which goat cheese foam in top. The atmosphere is very pretty, I loved the painting. Overall the food isn't worth it here, I think there are better Indian restaurants that are affordable in Columbus.

So the food is rather good--I love the Avocado Biel & the cauliflower koliwada was superb--but the price for the portion size is simply unacceptable for both of these dishes. The same with the Paneer Pinwheel. The paneer dish was pretty tasty, but for $28 it either needs to be one of the best paneers I've ever had--which it was most definitely not!--or it need to be very large in portion--which it was not. If anything, the portions for appetizers & entrées are atypically small. I cannot in good conscience recommend this place. Columbus has many Indian restaurants that are of comparable quality--Aab & Awadh for example--that are much fairer with respect to price and/or portion size.

Upscale Indian fare - flavorful for American standards. Very deep, unique flavors with a comfort feel. Sweet potato chaat and the paan clouds drink were my favorites, but I would order everything again in a heartbeat!

The Indian dishes were very creative. As vegetarians, we tried two small plates: the Dahi Puri, which is a must-try, and the Avocado Bhel, which we found not worth it and would recommend skipping. We ordered all four vegetarian entrees: the Achari Paneer Sag was very flavorful, the Nawabi Kofta was on the sweeter side but still very tasty, the Paneer Pinwheel was good, and we absolutely loved the Stuffed Eggplant. For dessert, we had the Jaggery Ice Cream, which was a bit too sweet for my taste but still an interesting try. We also enjoyed the Pumpkin Gulab Jamun, which was good. The service was awesome - we had a young Indian lady serve us very courteous and helpful. The ambiance is great; a good sit-down place and clean. The food was not heavy or greasy - very light on the stomach, and we walked back to our hotel in 18 minutes with no issues. A must-try place if you are in Columbus, Ohio.

I had been eyeing for Rooh for awhile now and glad to be able to try out with the 3 courses menu for the Columbus Restaurant Week. To me, I do like it gives me a bit of classy vibe, along with the super friendly staffs. Their bar is right in the center of the restaurant and the dinning area is surrounded by it. Prior for my dinning experience, I did some research and their goal is focusing on bringing Indian cuisine with its modern twist. And that is one thing that draw my attention and want to try it out. Throughout the 3 courses meal, all the dishes are delicately plated. I am by no mean an expert in Indian cuisine, however, there is some unique flavors and ingredients that is new to me. I think this is where the modern twist came in. Cauliflower Koliwada | The cauliflower is slightly deep fried. I like the breading is just enough to cover the cauliflower and still provide some crispiness to it. It get tossed with the Peanut Thecha, which is a peanut green chili chutney. And a touch of lemon sour cream on the side. Rooh Butter Chicken | Red Pepper Makhani, Fenugreek Butter Powder. It does have a tiny bit of heat kicking on my tongue. The sauce is very smooth and rich. Barfi Cheesecake | 64% Chocolate, Toasted Besan, Miso Butterscotch. This may become my favorite from the meal. The presentation is incredible. There is so many flavor bouncing off from each other. The different type of sauce give me a complete different experience. My first time trying toasted besan and it taste so good along with the creamy cheesecake. There is a couples piece of popcorn [I think] as well.

Went to Rooh as part of a business trip. They put us in a separate room due to our group size and service was lovely. Food was so good. I had the tiger prawns with rice, plus we all tried some appetizers and desserts. Everything was delicious. The sweet potato app was probably my favorite. I'm jealous that I don't live in the Columbus area to be able to return.

Absolutely my favorite restaurant in Columbus! Perfectly spicy meals with so much flavor. Great service and kind employees. The atmosphere is very nice and elegant, definitely a fun splurge! Every time I go, I get the same incredible meals and service. They also update their menu regularly and you can order online for carry out. Parking is limited street parking and it can get incredibly busy on that street at dinner time, so might have to walk a bit to get there but there are parking garages nearby.

First of all, beautiful restaurant! I am a sucker for GOLD! I will be honest, my first choice in food is rarely Indian... however, my husband really enjoys Indian food and has been waiting to try ROOH for ages. I had reservations and had a slight wait (less than 10 minutes) after arrival -- I try to be understanding as the world is still understaffed since COVID. We were warming greeted by wait staff, and began to look over the menu. This offerings were definitely elevated Indian food. First time I dine at an Indian establishment, I order butter or tikka chicken in order to gauge the kitchen - this hit the mark for me! It was creamy and not too acidic -- chicken was cooked perfectly and moist - flavor profile that created a symphony on the buds! While this might not be my first choice to dine out (due to not craving this cuisine), I won't complain if this is the restaurant of choice.

Came in with my family on a whim and we had the best experience! We didn't have a reservation, but were able to get seated right away on a Saturday night, which was a pleasant surprise. The service was great, our waitress was very friendly and walked us through the menu after learning it was our first time visiting Rooh. The ambiance was pleasant, wasn't too loud or quiet. There was a large mural on the wall when walking in that was amazing. Now let's get to the food. I'm not kidding when I say my family said "wow" after every single bite. It was all SO good. We split about 3-4 small plates and 2 large plates and everything was so flavorful and delicious. I had the mango mule to drink, which was also really good. If you're looking for a modern take on Indian food, Rooh is where to go. However, if you're looking for traditional Indian food, this is not it. We also learned they change some of their menu items from time to time, so I'm very excited to go back and try new dishes they have!

As others have said, this is, at its core, overpriced indian food. If budget is no concern, you won't be disappointed here, but you also won't be wowed. Butter Chicken - 4/5 As far as I can tell, this is the star of the menu. Short Ribs - 2/5 Just two short ribs for over $30. Tasty, but hard to justify the price. Naan - 3/5 Very good, but again, barely any of it, despite it being just bread. Saffron Rice - 1/5 A completely insufficient amount of saffron. Tastes like regular rice. While the service is solid and the ambiance very upscale, you're paying a big premium here for the High Street location. While that doesn't make Rooh a "bad" choice, it doesn't compare favorably to alternatives.

Food: to summarize, it's overpriced Indian food. The pav bhaji that came with the hyderabadi keema was actually nice and buttery. The hyderabadi keema was a bit too salty for me. I was disappointed with the special Kerala spicy fried chicken because it was nothing but a pretty chicken Manchurian. It wasn't even spicy-it was sweet. The butter chicken was alright-pretty standard. I wish the pieces were a bit smaller so they could have been better coated with the sauce. The garlic naan was nice but dainty. The lamb shank nihari was nicely cooked and fall-off-the-bone except it was bland. I rarely need more salt with my food but this one needed a lot more salt. The mango coconut sorbet was good but the salted strawberry lassi ice cream was a bit weird. I also wasn't a big fan of the saffron rice ($5). It had some weird chemical after taste. Ambiance: 4/5 This place is a great place for a first few dates or if you're hosting people from many different cultures. The vibe is nice except it gets a bit too loud sometimes Service: here's where I can't seem to decide if it's 2/5 or 3/5 for me. The staff was very friendly and we even had a bubbly server. The only problem was it took waaay to long to get the rest of our food. We were there for two hours and we didn't even get to finish our food before we had to give up and go home. We ordered our appetizers together with our drinks and main entrees so you would think things will be fast. The appetizers arrived quickly but then our main dish took at least 15 mins to arrive after we finished our appetizers. We didn't realize the naan would be too tiny so we ordered two more. One came at least another 15 mins since the order so we had to re-order the other one. Guess what, it didn't arrive quickly. By then we lost our appetite but since it was my husband's birthday we decided to get desserts. It didn't take that long to get the desserts but it was still longer than promised.-our server said they should be there by the time she gets us to-go containers. Nope. Eventually we just got too bored to even finish our desserts. Overall I would still recommend this place for the vibe and ambiance but for the food and service I don't think it's for me. It didn't help that it was too hard to find parking since this was in downtown and some event was happening.

I just have one pic that I took because I was so disappointed I didn't even take pics of the food. Went to celebrate mom's birthday (the bday dessert never came even tho the host first said she'd bring it out which isnt a big deal but it was disappointing) Starting w drinks, I got the bollywood breeze which was refreshing but the serving size was so small it wasn't worth it. My fam friends got the paan drink which was fine but the kesar cocktail was just horrible. The jaljeera cocktail didn't have jaljeera flavour at all, and it came in such a tiny glass that they might as well just give it in a shot glass. So not worth $15 drinks. Appetizers- got the cauliflower and it was legit 6 florets. Very sweet, not crispy and the sauce that it came with was not a lot. The mushroom kulcha is the only thing I liked. We also got the dum biryani arancini which was an interesting twist to Indian and Italian, not sure if that goes well together. But there were only 3 tiny balls... not worth the price again. Main dishes- Got the saag and that was tasteless and the quantity was also not fulfilling whatsoever. We also got the paneer pinwheel and for a dish that's supposed to be $27, they only gave us TWO pieces of paneer. The sauce might as well be the same as kroger's paneer tikka masala sauce but sweeter. Literally no taste, and it felt like they added ketchup to the sauce. There was just too much sauce. Also, logically if you go to an Indian restaurant, it's dumb not to give spoons. I understand you're catering to a mainly white market but how is one supposed to eat gravy with a fork and a knife. The garlic naan was delicious tho! As an Indian, I am highly disappointed. I'm willing to pay the price for the food and ambiance but the food should at least be good quality. This restaurant is clearly for those who don't have Indian food regularly or just want to go there for the appearance of fancy. We paid $300 for 6 people which includes 6 drinks, 3 appetizers, 3 main dishes (2 paneer) and 7 garlic naans. I don't go out of my way to leave bad reviews, but I genuinely want people to be aware of how worthless this whole experience was.

Great service great vibe great food. Seasonal cocktail menu was unique and tasty. Portions are as expected, not over the top but enough. Shareable options and entrée portions were just about the same so don't let the label keep you from trying what you want. Plenty of choices for vegetarian options and gluten free. I'll definitely visit again.

Really good Indian fusion food, they have some fun Indian cocktails and very cute inside!

This was the worst butter chicken I've ever had. The chicken piece was huge there were only two huge pieces in the bowl. It was very greasy and terrible tasting. They also did not include any rice whatsoever. I have never had butter chicken that never came with rice. There are so many good Indian restaurants in Columbus do not go here.

I went to rooh for the New Year's Eve dinner last year. The food was top notch and it tasted amazing. It is a modern and elegant restaurant and I totally loved the ambiance. The place is quite spacious. The staff was friendly and professional and service was quick. They change the menu frequently we got to try the New Year's menu. We ordered everything from the menu as we were a large group. From the appetizer menu I loved the Cauliflower Koliwada and Malia Chicken Tikka. The chicken Tikka was so creamy, rich and flavourful it was so filling that I could eat anything. I would love to go back and try out their new menu.

The Avacado Bhel is one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. Like the restaurant in general, but had to post this review because of this spectacular small plate.

A group of 10 of us ate at Rooh while we were in town for a company offsite, and the food and service were nothing short of fantastic. The cocktails and appetizers were delicious, and the staff was super attentive all evening. I'd highly recommend the paneer pinwheels as an entree!! Perfectly spiced and so delicate. A slam-dunk meal all around and we'd definitely come back.

Love the options of different dishes you can get. Service is very friendly. The interior is welcoming to sit down for a meal.

The food and drinks were really good. Our server was excellent. A great modern Indian meal with tons of flavor. I got the chutney and crackers to start. The butter chicken was really good too and I got a side of saffron rice. The strawberry ice cream with a salty topping hit the spot too! Happy hour is from 5-6 pm.

Run don't walk to Rooh. I came here for restaurant week in January of 2022 and didn't stop thinking about their Paneer Pinwheels ever since. Rooh has the most unbelievably balanced flavor palette of earthy nutty and tangy and fresh. They have truly honed each dish to perfection and a beautiful amalgamation of flavor. You can taste the effort and intention in each dish and drink. I returned this year for restaurant week as well, and between my friend and I, we ordered the mushroom kulcha (a delectable stuffed naan) the chicken croquettes, the mahi mahi, paneer pinwheel, and strawberry lassi for dessert. Rooh simply doesn't miss. Not to mention the service is outstanding and the ambience is elevated, chic, and classy.

Had a wonderful meal at Rooh. They serve upscale Indian cuisine. I loved the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant. The interior decor is modern with bright colors. Here's what we got (descriptions taken from the menu): 〰 Paneer Pinwheels: Red Pepper Makhani, Cashew, Bell Pepper Jam, Fenugreek Butter Powder. This was delicious and had a good spice to it. I loved the presentation! 〰 Garlic Naan: with Cilantro, Clarified Butter 〰 Kerala Fried Chicken: Curry Aioli, Kerela Sauce, Pickled Radish. These had great flavor. I would get it again! 〰 Malda Cocktail: Vodka, Coconut, Ginger, Mango, Citrus Overall, the portions were pretty small, and the food was pretty pricey. That is to be expected though, when visiting an upscale restaurant that has small plates/ tapas. This is a great place to visit for a special occasion or to bring someone from out of town. The food quality was really good, and you could tell that the food and drink menus were curated with thought. Fun Fact, it was recently named the sixth best restaurant in Columbus by Columbus Monthly!

The inside of this restaurant is absolutely beautiful!! We were sat in a few minutes our server was sweet and efficient. They have a cocktail wheel that goes off of weather you like sweet, sour, bitter exc, which I think I awesome to help people out. The menu is on a QR code they do not have physical menus. The menu is also pretty small in comparison to other places. We got the buttered chicken and the lamb shank both with rice and garlic naan. You need lots of rice and garlic naan to absorb all the delicious sauces. Portions are a little smaller here out bitter chicken only had between 5-10 pieces of chicken. One $4 order of naan is one piece cut in half. We ended up spending about $110 before tip. The food was stellar, good service and great vibes. Highly recommend.

The food is AMAZING. This was the best dinner I've had in a very long time. Rich, beautiful flavors and textures. Butter chicken with rice is the star, lamb app is fab. Naan is amazing (could use an acidic dipping sauce though, gets too heavy with the entree sauces). The service had some misses. It's good but not great. The family running the restaurant is FANTASTIC and attentive. However, after the lovely meal you have to box up your leftovers yourself at the table. It's unusual in such a nice setting and they're difficult leftovers to box up. The tables aren't cleaned between courses so there's sauce all over the table which is a little unpleasant. The courses were not timed out well. Too fast then too slow. If you order special naan they just bring double naan and bring it all at the same time. It's weird to not offer it be replacement to the standard naan or why not bring the extra naan as an app? Will def be back but will be hopeful the operation tightens a little.

Visited from out of town for a football game. We were looking for a place to get a last minute reservation for dinner that wasn't at 9 pm and this was it. While I have Indian fairly regularly at home- I have never had upscale Indian before- and all I have to say is wow why aren't there more people doing this?! Drink menu had a great variety. I ordered a non alcoholic option which was delicious and well presented. The sweet potato chaat is a must. Two days later and I'm still thinking about the dish. Butter chicken had great flavor. My regret is not getting traditional naan. We had the Thai cheese version tasted like a spicy cheese quesadilla to me. We are headed to NYC this winter and after this experience decided to book a reservation at the executive chef's place there Baar Baar. If you are looking for unique spot for a date night this is a great choice.

We ate at Rooh in the Short North for the first time and it was superb! This isn't your run-of-the-mill Indian buffet. Rooh's progressive pan-Indian menu is modern and a few options meld classic Indian dishes with midwestern concepts (like shepherds pie and pinwheels). The atmosphere is very cosmopolitan, cocktails are inventive, but plan to drop some coin. The menu is pricy, but we all thought it was worth it. The owners have a great story about opening the restaurant just before the pandemic shutdown and were incredibly hospitable when we checked in for dinner. There is definitely something to be said about the "Big City" vibes of this place and it excites me that Columbus has such an inventive, modern take on Indian cuisine.

Wow! What a delicious and wonderful experience. I've heard good things about Rooh so I was excited to finally check it out. One of our coworkers has been here many times so we let her order for the table. They just launched their happy hour a week ago. We tried pretty much all of the small bites. The Dahi Puri was one of our favorites. The cauliflower koliwada was also delicious. Drinks were great too. Although I got a mocktail and they charged me the same price as an actual cocktail. For dinner my favorites were the lamb shank, paneer pinwheel And spiced chickpea curry. We loved the decor and the service was good. I would definitely recommend coming here!
