My second time staying there. And my GF's 4th/5th time. Sadly we won't be returning. We stayed 11 nights and it was hell. Water St, has turned into a hotspot for all the Fast & Furious fanatics of the Tampa Bay area. Every single night, very late and into the early hours of the morning, there is unconscionable noise outside where young (and not so young) men (and women) convene to rev their wannabe race cars and motorbikes to levels of volume I didn't think were possible. It's honestly no different from being in a Formula 1 race paddock. To compound the problem our room was right underneath the gym, so up unto about midnight every day, and then from around 5.30am, heavy barbells and medicine balls are dropped/slammed onto the floor with such force that it sounds (and feels!) like the ceiling above is going to collapse at any second. Note that we asked to move rooms however, there are only two rooms of our 'grade' in the entire Roost hotel (which is only one floor of the 'Asher' building), and the other one was occupied. Also, given the shape/configuration of the gym above (which is thin and very long), there can't be too many rooms that are *not* underneath the gym. Finally, the bed is probably the most uncomfortable I've ever experienced (I promise I'm not being dramatic). I had recalled that from my previous visit, though I clearly didn't remember exactly *how* bad it was. I will note that the rest of the furnishings in the room (and building) really are top grade, as are the amenities. However sadly these do not come even close to making up for the utter distress anyone would experience staying here. Three recommendations for Roost Tampa: 1 - New beds; 2 - warn guests about noise from gym above for select rooms, and consider reconfiguring the equipment; 3 - work with local authorities immediately to have the boy racers outside moved-on (it's killing the property). Sad to not be able to again stay at what was once a very solid option in Tampa.
