"Rooster And Rice is an ideal place for a quick takeout dinner when you’re trying to be healthy, but can’t look a salad in the eye right now. The menu here is short and simple: boxes full of poached chicken and rice, with different sauce options, and vegetables and tofu if you don’t want meat. One box is enough for a full dinner or to split with someone for a lighter meal." - taylor abrams, will kamensky

"Rooster & Rice is a fast-casual Thai restaurant and one of the best lunch spots in the city. And that’s because, much like us cutting our own bangs, Rooster & Rice is laser-focused on one thing: making incredible khao mun gai. For $12.95, you’ll get a bowl loaded with poached white chicken, cucumbers, and cilantro, drizzled in a fresh chili-ginger sauce and served over jasmine rice, plus a little cup of chicken broth on the side. When all you want to eat is something easy and good for you, Rooster & Rice is a no-brainer for a quick takeout in Cow Hollow. This is Rooster & Rice's original spot, but they have other locations in SoMa, Castro, FiDi, and at Stonestown Galleria." - Lani Conway

I ordered congee and this was not it. A poor version of it from this Marina location. Too bad because I have ordered from other locations and have not had a problem before. I was surprised that they even served it. Not good Rooster & Rice! Please check in on this team so this doesn’t happen again.

Very nice taste. Cute small "hole in the wall" establishment with 3 seats indoors and another 8 outside~ the decoration is cool with lots of rooster painting and branding. The food was very tasty and the chicken rice plate comes with a small chicken soup side. Price is a bit steep ($12 with tax for the regular plate), considering it is rice and chicken mainly~ Beware no bathroom for clients here~

This is a great place for lunch. Fantastic chicken and rice plates with excellent Thai sauce and add ons available. Friendly staff and quick service.

We Placed a Door Dash delivery order today and specifically asked for and paid an extra +$2 for a fried or medium well egg with our Original Rice & Rooster meal, even Called twice after the were pinged that the order was on its way to be sure that it was right. The server agreed and ensured that our order would be prepared to our liking- 30 min later after we received our order, Lo & behold- the egg was runny, very runny, so were unable to eat it. We called the shop back to explain the scenario to female who took our order however, she was extremely unprofessional with ZERO customer service skills. Her phone demeanor was intolerable to our concerns about our previous requests. We then requested a refund for the order and she agreed to refund but quickly hung up the phone without taking our name, CC# or any order related information- this was the worst experience we’ve had at a San Francisco eatery in a long time- and we are planning to never eat at this location ever again. 😞

Clean, fast, sauce could be better. Rice was little in dry side but the chicken was delicious and cooked well. Presentation was great and soup was good. Khao mun Gai is becoming popular so hopefully more places like this to come.

Tasty, healthy, and comforting. Love this place and the fact that they give you a cup of broth with a meal.

Really delicious! The chicken and rice bowl is gluten free (celiac safe) with the ginger sauce. Staff is super helpful!

Insane prices for plain rice and chicken with an average sauce
