Low-key tavern with a pool table, offering rotating tap beers & hearty American comfort eats.
"A no-frills bar and restaurant, Roscoe’s offers a robust draft list and cheap drinks alongside Louisiana-style pub grub, like po’ boys, a selection of jambalaya, chicken and waffles, and gumbo. The vintage building, often filled with loyal regulars, feels like an old-school brewpub, with exposed brick, a wooden bar with leather stools, and comfortable wooden chairs throughout. Feeling something lighter? Just order sushi from the next door Miyamoto and someone will walk it over." - Janey Wong, Nathan Williams
"This Montavilla bar, open until 2 a.m. daily, is the ideal place to end up after a late-night movie at the nearby Academy Theater. Play pool, enjoy the long list of local draft beers, and dig into some Cajun standbys including chicken and andouille sausage gumbo, fried oyster po’ boys, and hush puppies." - Thom Hilton, Eater Staff

"See that line down the blocks of Halsted? __Condragulations, you’ve found Roscoe’s Tavern, which is one of the most popular places to go if you’re queer and love Drag Race. The large front area is a great place to grab a few drinks while watching the latest cast members lip sync for their lives (Check them out every Monday at 7pm for a free viewing party of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under). After the episode ends in its usual dramatic fashion, head to the dance floor in the back accompanied by wonderful DJs and sometimes old cast members from the show. The clientele tends to be mixed when it comes to gender identity and it’s an open inclusive space for all." - Abby Keller
"A classic pub and diner in Montavilla, Roscoe’s has a whole new patio built for diners to enjoy its fried Southern food out on." - Alex Frane
