Rose City Pizza, One of the SGV’s Top Pizzerias, Closes After 15 Years - Eater LA

"Rose City Pizza in Rosemead shuttered on May 26 due to a 40 percent rent increase. Owner Brian Nittayo tells Eater that a 40 percent rent increase and the landlord’s unwillingness to negotiate caused the closure. Rose City Pizza gained a loyal following for its inventive menu of New York- and Detroit-style pies, family-friendly atmosphere, monthly local artist showcase, and periodic pop-up collaborations. The family-owned pizzeria continues to operate a location in Covina, which opened in 2021." - Eric Valle

great ny style pizza. crust has a good char, toppings are fresh. 1st time i tried their wings i remember they were baked(they were bomb), they recently switched to a fried wing that reminds me of tito’s wings but they are still good. their ranch is delicious! i also tried their buffalo sauce and its a little too sweet for my taste. the pizzeria has a 90’s-TMNT theme and an arcade machine. give them a try they sell pizza the slice! if the parking lot is full there’s a park next to it you can park in.

Ordered 3 pizzas for take out. Staff is extremely helpful and courteous. Restaurant is clean and well maintained. Pizza was delicious, came out steaming hot and had the perfect amount of ingredients on each pie. We definitely will return. Salted caramel cookie was so yummy it didn’t make it to a picture. Highly recommend!

This place is awesome. Very cool vibes, staff were very friendly and gave great service. The pizza and wings are insanely good. This quickly became my new favorite spot and I will be back without a doubt.

We decided to try out a new pizza place that took over the spot where a flower shop used to be. The transformation is impressive! The restaurant is clean and tidy, with some really cool artwork of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the DeLorean car from Back to the Future. They even have two arcade machines, adding a fun, retro vibe to the place. Now, onto the main event – the pizza! We ordered an Al Pastor Chicago-style deep dish pizza, and it was phenomenal! The flavors were unique and delicious. We also tried a caramel cookie for dessert, and it did not disappoint. One thing to note is that they get pretty busy, so expect to wait more than 30 minutes for your order. It's understandable since they make everything fresh as you order. Also, you place your order through a tablet they have there unless you're picking up, in which case a person will ring you up. Overall, it was a pretty good experience, and we’re excited to go back and try more of their unique pizza flavors!

Google
Another great contender in the pizza game here in Covina. They recently simplified their menu, so while some of my favorites are gone (I actually had way too many favorites!), they are offering a consistently terrific pizza! Tried their version of a Hawaiian, called "50 First Dates", that ups the ante with honey glazed pineapple, red onions, and cilantro on a NY style crust that's both crunchy and chewy in all the right spots. We also tried the chicken wings that are perfectly and lightly breaded for an amazing crunch in every bite. Their Buffalo sauce isn't too overpowering and their ranch is very creamy and tastes homemade! Plus they give you enough sauce to have with your pizza, so that's a cool bonus. All of their other pizzas are great too and you can't go wrong. They take great care and use only the best ingredients so give them a try the next time you are craving pizza, which should be now since you're reading about pizza.

Google
Great pizza made by great people. We enjoyed their previous location and have followed them here and it is just as good, if not better. The decor inside is one of a kind and it really helps set the mood. The pizza is amazing, both the human and the dog friendly one. We always look forward to eating here.

Google
Pretty good pizza place with many different types of pizza. Not the usual pepperoni or different toppings, but special things like Al pastor or Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken Pizza. We called in to ask one of the workers to see if the pizza had certain allergens, and glad they were able to let us know that there wasn’t egg in the two pizzas we ordered, but didn’t know that the Al Pastor would be spicy. I think adding certain symbols on the menu, or asking the customer would definitely help, to make sure, not everyone has the same tolerance. We ordered the Taiwanese , Al Pastor Pizza, the elote tots and the BBQ Chicken Wings. The BBQ sauce was really tasty, but the chicken felt overcooked. It was quite nice to taste different types of specialty pizzas and overall we didn’t enjoy the food. The place is not that big, but it isn’t made for you to dine in. It is quite nice to have some arcade games as you wait, and we learned that this business does also have another location.

Google
Hands down, the best specialty pizza place. We would drive to the old Rosemead location but lucked out and they opened one in Covina. The quality is always top notch, they have online ordering which comes in handy when I want to take pizza home after work. The staff is always polite and offers plates to take home with you etc. can’t recommend this place enough!

Yelp
I did a phone order for my last pizza from this location and will continue to support Rosecity pizza at its Covina location because the owner and crew are great at what they do. They're all fast, friendly professionals that care for their craft. We I order on the phone, I told them I wanted a medium and serious the person taking my order mentioned to me that it was only $2 more for the large I was like all pass but after second thought I changed my mind and apologized after they gave me the cost for the medium.... Not a problem, really accommodating and nice... great service while on the phone with me knowing that the place is going nuts on their final weekend and to no surprise it was line to the door when I arrived and the seating were full. So sad to see them go from Rosemead. The place definitely had an energy going, people were packed in getting their food along with others staying in seated. Of course down to the actual business the food... I ordered the large Birria piazza and like always hot n fresh but it was done so fast, I got the text message that my pizza was ready in 8 minutes after my call! Like wow!!! That's amazing!!! So fast! And such great quality. I would go for the drive for this and their Manila sunrise pizza for sure and I do love their Al pastor pizza too! Good luck Brian and crew at your Covina location!!! I will visit again soon to play street fighter and grab a pie.

Yelp
We will miss this location, but tomorrow is their last day! We went to have our last meal their before they close this location. They will still have their Covina location, I believe. We got a pizza (half popcorn chicken, half aloha), pizza tots, and the lasagna sandwich. The popcorn chicken pizza is delicious, with boba shop inspired popcorn chicken and plenty of basil, and an aioli sauce. We got the aloha for the other half because my kids love pineapple on their pizza. We got pizza tots because my son also wanted pepperoni. It's got a good amount of Italian pizza seasoning. My husband also wanted the lasagna sandwich which is like two servings of lasagna between two thick slices of toast. Don't forgot to get your Kyinspired cookie for dessert. Mmm S'more cookies or ube cookies. Yum.

Yelp
The service was amazing, they accommodated everything I asked for. (half&half pizza and ready at a certain time) The staff are very friendly and easy to talk to. Aside from my own conversations with them, I also noticed their interactions with other regulars and it was great to see a local pizza shops being friendly with the locals! The food is great! Consistent quality and not a single bad item on the menu. This is one of those spots that will have you indecisive because you'll want to try all of their options! They have a deal with cold stone next door, so be sure to take advantage of that deal and grab some dessert next time!

Yelp
Located inside the Target plaza. Lots of free parking. Friendly, local pizza place. Also offers pasta and salad. Pizza is pretty good quality. Convenient location.

Yelp
Was craving pizza and decided to come here. They had different types of pizza and sounded very good. We just order in front and then they'll bring it out to you once it's done. The area is a cute little place and I'd definitely come back to try other pizzas! But the Taiwanese popcorn chicken and Alfredo chicken was a delicious combo!

Yelp
Pizzas are unique, but a little pricey. This is my first time trying a Birria Pizza and an Elote Pizza and both are delicious. The consomé that goes with the Birria Pizza was my favorite. They also have the typical pizzas you'll see, like the Deluxe and Hawaiian. My family enjoyed the Birria Pizza the most. The only thing that was mediocre is the crust. The crust was a bit too chewy and doughy for me.
google avatar

Erica E.

Yelp
Time and time again, Rose City Pizza never fails me -- except when the birria consume is forgotten in our order and we leave without checking, but it's forgivable. I've actually been to both locations and they have their recipes down! Very concise and great service. My favorites are the elote pizza and ofc birria pizza. The thin crust is bomb, the veggies and cheese go great together, not really a generic pepperoni pizza (which they have but haven't tried yet!). Speaking of pepperoni, their pizza tots are also a must get because it's literally pizza toppings on tater tots!!?!? I love tomato sauce and theirs is addicting.

Yelp
So i'd have to say I m a bit of a Pizza. Being in LA have had lots of great pies from various Pizza spots - Casa Bianca of Eagle Rock, Pizzeria Mozza, Zelos Pizza ( great cornbread crust) and local spots such as Pizzanista, Luggage room and Tomato Pie. So I ve been eyeing the reviews of Rose City and was intrigued to give it a go. Keep in mind I ordered delivery so that can tale away from the quality of a good pie. That being said opted for a Green flash after seeing a margherite with pesto ( pesto on pizza is underrated imho)...pizza arrived on time and was warm but overall can't say this was well made? Pesto was laid on liberally and the garlic was a bit overpowering. I really wanted to like it, but overall found this to be a letdown. I willingly note that this was delivery and came warm, so would love to give it another go...just maybe will avoid the green flash the next time...

Yelp
Quality/Quantity - Wow, I mean wow! Interesting fusion pizza place. Who comes up with these recipes? They deserve a raise! We got the extra large 1/2 Elote 1/2 Popcorn Chicken (Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken) pizza and it was so so good. My favorite of the two was the popcorn chicken pizza, but the elote was also so good. Popcorn chicken pizzas have a very slight kick to it, just enough to intrigue your interest, but not overpowering. Both of the flavors were spot on. Now I have to come back to try the other signature flavors. We even discussed buying the $40 pizza bag just to get that $5 off each large pizza... NY style pizza? Maybe your classics? Umm, it is more like fusion style pizza if you ask me. Also available are: Focaccia pies, salads, pasta, sandwiches, wings, fries, tots (sides), dog pizza (yes for your dog!), and pizza desserts, etc. Atmosphere - Small local business. Indoor and outdoor seating. Dog friendly. Plenty of mall parking. Service - This was a slight miss, but I did not count this against you. The "young" girl asked if I needed anything else and I asked for plates, napkins, a plastic knife, etc. She seemed confused... I then asked again for the stuff and she said "which ones?" I said all of them??? Weird conversation, so weird that I forgot to ask for parmesan cheese, good thing the flavors were so good and unique that I would not have wanted to mess with the original recipes. I also really like the $40 pizza bag idea for $5 off large signature pizzas for life! Too bad I am not here often enough to take advantage. Maybe I should be coming to LA more often?! Price - $34 + tax. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2009 and with your two locations; you got a new regular customer now!

Yelp
I'm gluten free and dairy free and was pleasantly surprised that this spot had options catered to my dietary needs! Even my family members who usually snub my gluten free food liked my gluten free dairy free pizza. The crust is crunchy like a thin crust pizza.

Yess C.

Yelp
COVINA location WTF is happening??? the pizza we ordered was like a cardboard box and have of it was missing cheese. It was burnt and cold. I'm extremely disappointed with this location. After visiting their Rosemead location I was excited about them opening up in my city. My husband now has to deal with what we're pretty sure is food poisoning. Never again!

Yelp
I can't believe it's been nine years since I left my first review here, and wow, the pizza and food just keeps getting better! I usually get the Elote pizza with hot Cheetos crumbs on top, but this time I decided to try one of the other unique specialty pizzas. And since I have to now endure the football season, why not go all out with the caloric intake? I got a medium pizza with half Char Siu and half Taiwanese popcorn chicken, and these turned out way tastier than I expected. The popcorn chicken came with baked basil leaves on top, which was a nice touch. But I have to say the Char Siu won my heart. I love barbecue chicken pizza, so this was very similar, except with hoisin sauce, spicy mustard, and "char Siu" which tasted more like al pastor to me but I'm not complaining! Hoisin sauce on pizza WORKS! And the spicy mustard was the chef's kiss. Sprinkle some of that pickled onions on top and you have a mouthwatering slice of pizza. For tater tots lovers, the buffalo chicken tots were really good. It felt a little pricy ($9) but it's a great appetizer to share. The service was fast and efficient with a text to let you know your food is ready for pickup. The guy working the cash register was friendly and hooked it up with a side of buffalo sauce. This place also has craft beers on tap ranging from $5-7! Harland Japanese Rice Lager, anyone? Thanks, Rose City Pizza, for making Sunday football more bearable for me. You da real MVP.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Who doesn't love creative and unique pizzas??? And Rose City has long delived on the unique pizzas! Tried the Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken tonight which is very tasty and also got the proven elote pizza which is a nice option when you don't want any meat toppings. One small critique is for the Caesar salad dressing as it can be a bit better tasting and you need to ask for a side of Parmesan cheese when taking the salad to go as they put the crutons and dressing on the side.

Yelp
So I came here with high expectations wanting to try the elote pizza with my foodie son and my wife. Son and wife did not want to try the elote pizza so we then started to think about doing a half/half pizza. Unfortunately, there are no prices ANYWHERE in this building. Is the price of the Signature pizzas the same as the Classic pizzas? One of the thoughts was that we would get a small pizza and a couple of side dishes and share but without knowing the cost of individual plates, what would be a reasonable amount of food and cost? I asked about the birria grilled cheese and it was $16 but I was also thinking about getting Buffalo chicken tots. No pricing so I got frustrated and we just ordered a Meaty pizza. It was good. Not going to drive to Rosemead or Covina for it but it wasn't bad. I don't understand why they would not post prices. What are they afraid or embarrassed by? Even if you want to put it on the paper foldout but nothing. Even the beer was a chore. My son asked for the Japanese lager and I asked if they had a dark beer to a surprised look and then a comment to his coworker... do we have a dark beer?

Yelp
I do not live close to this place and wish I did! This pizza place a wonderfully different from all others! It's Italian with a Mexican twist! I love it when cultures are combined together. Inside is cozy. There's enough room for small parties to eat inside. The service is so friendly and fun! We got a half and half pizza of elote and Al pastor. Both were tasty! I do miss this place and I'm going to have to make a fun road trip to get another pie to enjoy!
google avatar

Caes F.

Yelp
Came here for take out. It is in the large Rosemead Plaza. The BBQ Wings were large and the sauce has a kick to it. The Pizza Crust was good. I was surprised by the flavors of the Elote. The deluxe was really tasty with the vegetables.
google avatar

Linda L.

Yelp
I ordered my pizza online and despite the order saying that it would take 25-30 minutes, I got a notification saying that it was ready in 15 minutes! Great! I got the medium Signature pizza with 1/2 Al Pastor and 1/2 Elote w/ Hot Cheetos. Adding Hot Cheetos to the whole pizza would cost $4 but since I got half, it was an extra $2. Total for a medium pizza was $30 so it's a little pricy, but I understand why - these are such unique flavors and toppings! A medium pizza is good for about 3-4 ppl. My favorite over the 2 was the Al Pastor, like eating a taco on top of a pizza. There's tables and beer / boba if you wanted to enjoy a pizza with your friends. They also sell chili oil at the counter if you want extra spice. I def want to come back and try other flavors.
google avatar

Ray G.

Yelp
This is the second location I have tried. This pizza place has amazing choices and specialty pizzas. Their elote pizza was fire. It was so nostalgic and reminded me of the elotero. I totally recommend those pizza place.
google avatar

Kay W.

Yelp
The second I saw the menu, I knew I had to come try this place! Taiwanese popcorn chicken, char siu, and hoisin sauce on a pizza??! So unique and nostalgic for me! I got the Taiwanese popcorn chicken pizza on my first visit and it lived up to the hype. The basil aioli is TO DIE FOR. The fried Thai basil was a nice touch. The popcorn chicken was juicy. I only wish it was spicier because I did not taste the chili oil on the pizza. I ordered online and went to pick up as soon as it was ready. There were lots of seating inside. I came just before dinner time and it was empty. I will definitely come back when I'm in the area again to try some other pizzas and focaccia (the elote looks delicious).

Yelp
Rose City Pizza in Rosemead is closed I'm devastated. Their pizza was amazing. Looks like the Covina location is still open
google avatar

Katie C.

Yelp
We wanted to try 2 different topping for their pizza. We called over the phone to confirm if you still get the consommé for the Birria pizza if you split the topping half and half with something else, they said we would. We realized that they didn't pack any consommé for the half Birria pizza we order after we had left the restaurant for a to-go order. Birria Pizza- meat was well seasoned and full of flavors even without the consomme. I'm sure it would be even better with the consommé. Spinach Pie Pizza- was not the great at all. We only ate about one slice. We added chicken and onion on top of it which helped but wasn't enough. The garlic parmesan ricotta was very heavy and not spread around evenly. It was globbed onto the pizza in large globs, when biting into the ricotta it was just a mouth full of thick solid heavy cream almost. Lasagna Grilled Cheese- had a layer of melted cheese on the top Texas toast, which added a different chew texture to the rest of the dish. If you love bread this is a good plate to pick off on. Definitely heavy and something to share with others. Buffalo Chicken Tots- on the tangier side as I love it to be. If you're not a fan of extremely tangy buffalo sauce, I would stray away.

Yelp
I tried Rose City Pizza for the first time at this location a few weeks ago and was really impressed by the quality of the selection of unique designs on the Menu! I loved how we were given lots if options to savor combinations both in and outside our comfort zones. I decided to try the Elote Street Corn Pizza as well as the Deluxe Pizza with my family and everything paired deliciously with the special Lychee Tea they serve at this store! The Staff Members were incredibly down to earth and hardworking and knew how to get us excited right from the get go by creating a tantalizing aroma that we could smell before walking into the store ;0) The Pizzas and Pepperoni Tots we ordered arrived on the table fresh and expertly crafted and so appealing to all our senses!!! I also enjoyed all the interesting and playfully edgy Art on the walls and especially the Skateboards and Sticker Sections. Thank you to the Culinary Pinoy Prince Owners for creatively engineering such an special and high quality experience for us to enjoy pizza in a whole new and interesting way!!! I told everyone around town how fun and satisfying the Restaurant ride was and Community Members who haven't tried it yet are so stoked to see and try it the next time they're in the Rosemead Area!!!
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
Yum!! I love corn and now there's an elote pizza?? For a medium sized Elote Pizza came out to be around $23. Not too bad.. Feeds like 3 people. 2 slices each. Overall the pizza was made super quickly (15 minutes, called over the phone). Staff were friendly and interior of the store had seating so if you wan to hangout and eat pizza you can!
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
Some of the worst pizza I have ever had in my life! Greasy with no cheese and absolutely disgusting, made me feel sick to my stomach! I'm sure this place is known for specialty pizzas, but if you can't even make a basic pepperoni and cheese pizza how can you call yourself a pizza place? I will never be returning, and if you value quality food, don't even consider eating here.
google avatar

Shwe N.

Yelp
I prefer the Rosemead location here because it offers a lot of seating and the plaza is always so bustling. Of all pizzas, I am in love with the popcorn chicken and basil pizza -- lichrally tastes like taiwanese popcorn chicken on pizza, with a creamy white sauce. Birria pizza, hot cheetos, and tater tots were yummy as well, but just not as moist or memorable to me. However, everything on the menu is a must-try, especially because these are more unique. And thanks to the chefs for always being timely.

Yelp
So excited to finally try this place out after having it bookmarked for 2 years now. - Char-sui Pizza: 4/5 The hot mustard was a nice surprise and set this off. - Birria Pizza: 2/5 Super underwhelming and lacked in flavor. - Elote Corn Pizza w/ Flamin Hot Cheetos toppings: 5/5 This was most of the group's favorite pizza of the night. - Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken Pizza: 3/5 - Jalepeno Popper Pizza: 3/5 - Boneless Wings: 5/5 Perfectly cooked and super juicy. I ordered the medium and was very surprised that it wasn't just a buffalo medium sauce. There were definitely other seasonings on top of the buffalo. - Pizza Fries: 4/5 All in all, I felt like all the pizzas had great flavors. The toppings for each style were very well incorporated. The only complaint I have is the face that I wish the pizzas were hotter. We ordered to eat in the restroom and the pizzas came out room temp. Did not have that cheese pull. I also tend to lean towards a slightly crispier crust for which it did not have. Service was 5/5 though!

Gloria L.

Yelp
Still one of my favorite spots for pizza in the SGV. Their elote pizza is my favorite here and it never disappoints! I got a large elote pizza and a large Al pastor pizza for my party of 5 and we destroyed it. Our order was ready within 30 minutes. The elote was just as good as I remembered and the Al pastor was flavorful. We also got a container of the Zinder's chili oil and it was amazing. I would highly recommend getting the chili oil to pair with your pizza if you're a fan of spicy. Definitely try their elote pizza!

Yelp
Every penny is worth to pay this restaurant. Tasting ,T T T! Second time order it. This time still Deluxe. I give it a try on Al Pastor.

Yelp
So yummy! My boyfriend and I went for lunch because I had always wanted to try it after seeing the pizzas on SGV eats. We went around 1:30PM on a Saturday, and there was no one inside. We didn't see on the boards the specialty pizzas so we were a little worried, but we found the paper menu and the specialty pizzas were on it. We decided to order a medium pizza with half birria and half popcorn chicken. The total came out to $28.46. We waited about 15-20 minutes for our pizza, and they served the birria pizza was a side of consume. We also asked for extra sauces of the sauces they had drizzled on the pizza so that we could dip if we wanted to. The birria pizza was succulent and flavorful, and dipping it into the consume really accentuated its flavor. We also asked for a spoon to kind of pour the consume on top of the slice since dipping it made the toppings slide off. The consume was so tasty and homey as well, I drank all of it after we ate the pizza. The popcorn chicken side was also delicious and fragrant, and we were so grateful for the extra aioli because it made the pizza so much more special and tasty. I do wish it was a tad bit saltier but my boyfriend thought it was perfect. Overall, amazing pizza that you wouldn't normally be able to get anywhere else, and even though it is definitely pricy, we were full by the end and loved every bite. Would definitely come again and recommend to everyone to try!

Yelp
Rose city pizza is a great local spot that serves pizza, pasta, and fries/tots. The flavors here are unique but the flavors for everything I've tried has worked really well and was delicious. One thing I appreciate about I've tried a pizza and did a half elote and half Taiwanese popcorn chicken. The pizza was really good and the flavors were very different from any other pizza flavors that I had before. For the elote pizza, I definitely recommend upgrading it to include flamin hot Cheetos but it really enhanced it for me. I also had the buffalo chicken tots and these were so amazing and were probably the best tots that I've had. If you're looking for a cheat meal, Rose City Pizza is a great option to enjoy some carby goodness. The employees here are friendly and service is good, but limited, as you don't interact with the employees much other than when you order your food and when they bring your order to you. The store itself is pretty casual but there's a lot of cool art on the walls. It is located in a large plaza with plenty of parking.

Yelp
Speaking for my dog and other dogs out there! They seem to love your pizza not that they won't love a lot of things....but thanks for going out of the way to make pizzas for dogs! Sorry I really forgot what the pizza I had a couple of years ago tasted like and I just got to writing your review....though I swear I wrote one before!!!!! This is my 2nd Dog Party hosted at a park and bought pizzas there this time I asked them to cut them into smaller slices as small dogs can't clean up a Quarter of a small Doggy pizza.... Thanks Rose City for this....and I highly recommend this place for what they provide!!!!

Yelp
Rose City has been one of the top food spots in the Target Plaza for years. They were one of the first spots that did unique pizza toppings in the area. Lots of parking in the plaza. They sell whole pizzas and sometimes they may have slices to sell. IPA - $7 Lasagna - $13 - Good portion for price. Cheesy and the sauce was good. Comes with 2 bread sticks. Meaty Pizza, large - $22 - Loaded with meat, pepperoni, sausage, and bacon. It is a little salty. Dough was nice, I liked the chewy and crisp.

C K.

Yelp
Disappointed in their food this visit. Pizza is not as good as it used to be. Wings garlic Parmesan are ehh. Regular spicy wings were delicious. Also they offer a coupon to get a buy one get one at cold stone creamery. It used to be sooo good. They used to offer family meals. My husband fell in love with this restaurant a few years ago. Further from our house so we rarely go. This visit was disappointing. I'm not sure if they changed their recipe or it was just bad luck. It is conveniently located in the target shopping center off the 10 freeway.

Yelp
Disappointed that the in house chefs and employees were not able to let us know if pine nuts were in the pesto sauce. It is pretty normal for restaurant owners to train their staff allergy information. There is pine nut syndrome and never have I ever encountered a restaurant unable to let me know if they simply contained pine nuts or not in the pesto as some places add almonds as well. Strange.

Yelp
Nothing good, nothing bad. I'm very particular with my pizza considering I've lived in NJ/NYC most of my life. My default would be a Margherita Pizza and I usually would base my opinion off that. Unfortunately, there wasn't much flavor to it. Tomatoes were thickly sliced and too juicy when biting into it. Maybe the extra moisture diluted the flavor ‍. The dough was also on the thicker side and chewy. Reminds me of a Costco slice consistency, but I'd be happy getting a Domino's thin crust instead. Ambiance inside is fun. I could see it being a cool spot for some pizza and beer. Can't say much for the service as I went in and placed my order to go. There was time to kill, so it's a bonus it being located in a small shopping plaza to pass the time. I'd give this a second try if I'm in the immediate area as there were other choices to select from, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Yelp
This spot is located in a large plaza next to target. It has a lot of parking so no need to worry. Make sure to grab the menu since the items in the overhead menu area doesn't list all the items. We ordered a small pizza with half elote pizza and half Al pastor. They're known for their elote pizza but I honestly thought the Al pastor was sooo much better. The elote can get a bit too rich tbh. The pizza fries were meh, the fries quickly became soggy due to the tomato sauce. The service/workers were nice and quick. Took around 15 mins for the food to come out. I'd come back for their Al pastor pizza.

Yelp
The pictures and unique menu items were very enticing, so I decided to place an order for pickup on a Friday night. My order was ready in less than 25 minutes. Rose City is located in a large shopping center in Rosemead which has a ton of shops like Target, Dave's hot chicken, and chipotle, so parking is easy. The customer service was great. The guy at the register was friendly and welcoming. On to the food... I ordered a small pizza, half elote and half deluxe, as well as an order of the hot Cheetos elote fries. The pizza was ok. For the elote portion, the sriracha sauce gave it a decent kick, but besides that it lacked the flavor that I was hoping for. The deluxe portion was better flavor wise due to the pepperoni and sausage, but I felt like it was dry. I like my pizza saucy and cheesy. Unfortunately, this pizza didn't check those boxes for me. I would give the pizza a 3/5. As for the elote fries, the combination of the Cheetos powder and the sriracha sauce added a nice level of spice. The fries themselves were decent, but again, the fries overall were a little to dry for my taste. The fries get a 3/5 from me. An overall ok experience. Not sure if I would return.

Yelp
Alright long time waiting. Finally ordered the Birria pizza, Al Pastor pizza, Buffalo chicken pizza, hot wings and bbq wings. All items did not disappoint. Ordered for pick up and the gentleman that answered had great customer service and recommendations. The pizza hit all taste buds. Perfect amount of toppings. Will definitely be back soon.

Yelp
The Taiwanese popcorn chicken pizza from Rose City has my heart!!! Stopped in a quick bite and got a small pizza for dine in- pizza came out quickly and was perfect, crust/dough was super light and crispy and the chicken/basil/aioli topping combo was the perfect combo of savory, creamy, and crispy with a hint of spice. Also love that you can order draft beer and grab a bottle of NYM tea to go with it. This is fusion food done right! Food: 5/5 Price: 4.5/5 Ambience: 4.5/5 Service: 5/5

Yelp
Takeout pizza in Rosemead, Los Angeles, California... After a busy day of eating, drinking, and shopping, I just wanted to sit down and have pizza. My friend, Tora, highly recommended Rose City Pizza... So, that's where I went. Located in a shopping center with lots of free parking, I easily parked and entered the hipster environment. Ordering was easy and I took a seat until I was texted when my order was ready. I opened the box and took photos of my large pizza with half Deluxe and half Aloha. The Deluxe was a bit spicy because of the pepperoni and sausage. I liked the Aloha better because of the bacon with the Canadian ham and pineapple. Haha! Overall, it was good pizza. I liked the crisp edge of the crust. It was kind of chewy because I didn't eat it right away. Next time, I hope to dine in!

Yelp
This is our favorite spot for pizza, pasta and wings in Rosemead. Their food is great and prices are very reasonable. This is a casual restaurant with maybe about 10 tables. So if you come at busy times, seating is very limited. There are some tables outside but you can't bring your alcohol drink outside. You order at the counter and they will give you a number to put on your table, then they bring your order. They have a great selection of pizzas and you can also build your own. They also have specials on beer with many IPAs to choose from. If you come before 3, they have lunch specials deals. Their portions are quite generous for the price.if you are ordering Togo, best to call in your order as it may take some time to prepare.

Yelp
I've tried Rose City a few times now over the years and I have to say, this is not the place to go if you're looking for classic pizza. They do have classics like all-meat and deluxe pizza with all the fixins but these have always paled in comparison to their speciality pizza. Whoever comes up with these recipes is extremely creative! The elote pizza with hot Cheetos is such a great Mexican twist on classic pizza - and it's still super cheesy and delicious! I also recently tried the Taiwanese popcorn chicken pizza and was surprised but how well executed it was. The chicken itself was flavorful and crispy and the basil sauce was a great pairing without being too overwhelming. Highly recommend! In the evenings it can get pretty crowded so I recommend calling ahead to place an order. My biggest qualm with the online ordering is there are no menu descriptions so if you haven't had a particular pizza before you won't really know what it contains - which can be pretty risky with these speciality pizza flavors. I was also a little disappointed that we were told our pizza would be ready in 15 mins and when we got there we still had to wait an additional 15 mins. I don't mind waiting when it's busy but I would have appreciated a more accurate estimate. Aside from the Taiwanese popcorn chicken, we also tried the deluxe with sausage, pepperoni, and veggies and I gotta say it was just okay. It was a bit soggy even though it was freshly made so I can't say I would recommend it but I don't think this is a place you should go looking for classic pizza anyway. If you're looking to get a little adventurous with your pizza choices, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Very disappointing dining experience! Pepperoni pizza was super greasy and spicy wings were super drenched in sauce. Wings were cold and just not edible. Staff wasn't too friendly almost seemed bothered. Too bad! Big kuya needs to have a talk with staff at the Rosemead store.

Yelp
For dinner, I ordered 2 medium pizzas (Taiwanese popcorn chicken & char siu). Both pizzas were on the dry side and the crust were super chewy). In terms of flavor, the char siu pizza had bbq sauce (or hoisin sauce) but the pork was bland. As for the Taiwanese popcorn chicken, the chicken was over cooked and it was also bland. My kids love pizza but they refused to eat it from this place. As for customer service, it was excellent. The guy who picked up the phone was super friendly and had repeated my order before I hung up. Then when I went to pick up the order, the cashier brought the pizza out to me, instead of just leaving it on the counter.

Yelp
The lunch special was good. $1 extra with tasty meatballs. The salad was crispy and fresh. Wish they had fountain drinks. The only other thing was no prices on the menu or posted. Kind of a pain for the staff to have to look everything up.

Yelp
One of my top pizza places around! They make pizzas in EXTRA LARGE which is great for a pizza party. Definitely try their unique pizza combinations that you won't find anywhere else, like the Al Pastor and Hot Elote! Great crust, they don't skimp on toppings, and plenty of non-pizza choices too! Their service is just stellar here. Plenty of parking as they're located in the big Target plaza on Rosemead and the 10. It's a real perfect combination.

Yelp
I haven't dined in before, but I've gotten takeout from here a few times. It's close to target, dollar tree, and many other restaurants. I came for the Al pastor pizza but I've also tried a few different ones too and they were also good. Service is friendly. The shop isn't too big but seems well organized. I like that they text you when your order is ready so you can walk around until then.

Yelp
Spot on! Have been here for a good handful of times over the years, and I gotta say, this place always exceeds my expectations! My recent cravings are their Char siu & Taiwanese popcorn chicken pizza. I admit that when I first heard about these flavors, I was like "No way, that's weird. They can't be good." But surprisingly, they turned out great! The popcorn chicken was so flavorful, and I really loved the Char siu too. Sauces were just perfectly complimentary! We recently ordered from them for a gathering, and everyone loved it. Never thought Chinese staples on top of pizza could be this good! They also have a bunch of other good flavors for you to try out, like the elote, al pastor, birria, and so many more! Would recommend to add hot Cheetos to the elote which is another of our go-to options. Tater tots were mostly decent too, my favorite was the al pastor tater tots. Overall, love this place! These guys really know what they are doing, and the unique pizza flavors they created are always full of good surprises. Bonus: they do draft beer & dog friendly pizza too! Tips: You can do 2 flavors on one pizza & ask them to cut into even smaller slices since the normal slices are huge!
