Google
Breakfast Sandwich on Croissant, delicious donuts, and Vietnamese Ice Coffee! This place was such a great find! We wanted a quick and affordable breakfast and these sandwiches here are all under $10!! You can get it on Croissant, Bagel, or just regular toast. I recommend the croissant. Super buttery and flaky. The donuts are delicious, the blueberry cake is one of the best I've had. Vietnamese iced coffee was the best way to wash it all down!

Google
I stopped by Rose Donuts and grabbed a mixed dozen, and they did not disappoint! The variety was perfect glazed, raspberry-filled, maple, and chocolate. Each donut was soft, fresh, and full of flavor. The raspberry-filled had just the right balance of tart and sweet, and the glaze was light and melt-in-your-mouth good. Definitely a great local donut spot worth checking out.

Google
Great donuts even at 7pm on a Saturday! I was worried the donuts would be stale and dry towards the end of the day, but to my surprise, they were delicious and had a fresh texture! We ordered a glazed, maple bar, and a chocolate crueller bar. Service was fast and friendly. Seating options inside are nice. They offer other pastries/food options and breakfast is served all day! I’ll have to return another day in the morning to see if the donuts taste even better at the beginning of the day. Yum!

Google
There was a line out the door so my expectations were high. My friend and I tried 4 of the donuts; the glaze and the crumb glaze showed they could make a good standard donut. Delicious. The old fashioned and cinnamon roll were very basic; nothing special. Still worth the try.

Google
Amazing taste. Our entire family thought these were some of the best donuts ever! That's saying a lot. We really liked their version of a cinnamon roll swirl. It looks like this is a chain with locations throughout southern California. Nice!

Google
Classic little donut shop with great prices, freshly made baked goods when you get there early enough, and tasty breakfast sandwiches! Really can’t go wrong here. The blueberry cake and cinnamon crumble were super light and airy and the country bagel sandwich was great. Couple good things to know….about $20 for a dozen and there’s a .50 surcharge for using a credit card.

Google
I’ve come to Rose Donut since I was a kid! It has always been a family favorite, especially for my sister and I. Everyone who works there is extremely kind and knows almost every single regular that walks in! Everything this place bakes and sells is excellent and a type of quality that has lasted at least my life time! I couldn’t recommend a better donut shop. Thank you to the staff for all your hard work and effort and know you have impacted so many people in such a positive way.❤️

Google
We weee on a hunt for the best and the most underrated donut variety, the glazed donut! This one did not disappoint! It was super soft and doughy with the perfect amount of glaze! Super fresh and super tasty! If the glaze was this good I can only imagine how the rest of them will be!

Yelp
Great donuts and breakfast - even better people!! Everyone inside is so friendly and you can tell because everyone that walks in has a smile on their face as well - Best in San Diego

Yelp
Rose Donuts has always been a go to when I'm in the area and glazed twist and donut never disappoints. It's a quick grab and go shop. Service was quick! They have dining area to sit as well. It's oddly quiet inside.

Yelp
If you're looking for a Mom & pop donut shop serving up great classics with no fancy frills, Rose Donuts is for you. The ladies working this donut shop are extremely friendly and patient. There was a homeless man in front of me when I went and he took about five minutes trying to decide on a single donut and the ladies attitude towards him was genuine and you can automatically tell that they are wonderful people. I came in Tuesday morning around 8am and was immediately greeted by the fresh scent of warm ham & cheese croissants that had just been placed on display. It tempted me to get one, but I was there for dozens of donuts. I went with all the classic yeast donuts and a few cake ones. The twists, bars, and filled donuts are an additional cost, but only by .20 cents. My coworkers all enjoyed the donuts and I'd highly recommend this place if you're looking for something simple.

Yelp
Arr mateys, Captain 619, hear me, listen up ye scallywags! I be tellin' ye about me new treasure trove - Rose Donuts in San Diego! This place be me new haunt, and let me tell ye, the donuts here be as sweet as a siren's song. From the moment I set foot in this fine establishment, I be greeted by the smell of freshly baked pastries and the sight of colorful confections that would make even Blackbeard himself drool with envy. The crew behind the counter be as friendly as a parrot on me shoulder, always ready to serve up a hot cup of grog to wash down me delectable treats. I be particularly fond of the chocolate donuts, so light and fluffy they be like clouds in me mouth. And the jelly-filled treasures be bursting with flavor like a cannonball hitting a ship's hull. Every bite be a journey to the seven seas of flavor. So if ye be in San Diego and be lookin' for a place to satisfy yer sweet tooth, look no further than Rose Donuts. This be a place fit for a pirate king, and I be raisin' me Jolly Roger in salute to this fine establishment. Aaarrrggghhh!

Yelp
This place really is good. I had to update my review. The glazed donuts are still the best. Fresh and delicious. The iced latte is good and strong and not overly sweet so perfect. The breakfast sandwiches are excellent also. The bagels are good and delicious and the croissants are buttery and flaky. The lines are out the door but don't let that intimidate you. They are fast and super friendly. Excellent staff.
google avatar

Doug B.

Yelp
Very friendly staff! I have been here a handful of times now and every time the donuts are fresh and taste very natural. Many other donut shops have an artificial aftertaste or their custard filling tastes gross. Not the case here at Rose donuts. They have a huge variety of traditional donut offerings. They are alway very clean. And they make great coffee drinks as well. Excellent on all levels. Known by many locals as the best in SD and it's apparent why.
google avatar

Clythie C.

Yelp
The donuts are delicious, the service is fab and the chicken salad sandwich is my favorite in the land at this sweet and clean little corner shop! Get it on a light and flaky croissant. Bonus: there's a parking lot too!
google avatar

Andrew R.

Yelp
Definitely a solid choice for a donut. I didn't think they were anything out of this world, but they definitely weren't bad; maybe just a bit overhyped. The cake-y donuts were way better than the yeast-y ones. One small complaint - we ordered a white cream filled donut (as seen in the pic) but it was actually custard filled. Bit of a bummer but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it was still good. The ambience here is also not it... definitely plan to just take these to go.
google avatar

Yelp
I was on the hunt for some bomb donuts and based on all the reviews on yelp, I checked this place out. It was easy to find, but the parking lot was narrow and very busy between all the different businesses there. I was lucky enough to find a space. There was a line in the late afternoon so you know it's gotta a good reputation! I didn't have to wait too long because they were working very efficiently. Some of the selections were already out, but I did ask for something specific and they pulled it from the back, so I definitely recommend if you don't see what you want just to ask them. Prices were very normal and it's just a little bit higher quality of a Mom and Pop type Donut shop.
google avatar

Yelp
I've literally been here soooo many times and don't know why I've never left a review. TLDR: rose donuts is the GOAT. You can expect consistent quality. You come in here and you know it's going to taste exactly the same each time. No funny business. I love their service. They're always so happy and quick. They got their system down to a T. The food is amazing. I love their croissant sandwiches and my friend seems to love their bagel sandwiches. Of course, their donuts are great. Soo soft and chewy. I love getting their Vietnamese coffee. I think it's a little bit more on the sweeter side, so I usually ask for less sweet. Side notes: You can also sit inside or at the patio to eat. There's also a ton of parking, so you don't need to worry about that.

Bradley C.

Yelp
RIPOFF! I just bought a dozen donuts there and the bill was $31. It wasn't until I checked my receipt later that I noticed they added a 30% tip for themselves without me approving it. I'm surprised they continue with this trick as it was outlawed under the "junk fees" bill just passed. Last week I bought the same order two blocks away at TK Donuts for $20. And they gave me 14 donuts instead of 12 (like Rose did) Go there instead!
google avatar

Kristelle B.

Yelp
I've been meaning to try their ham and cheese croissants here and we finally ordered delivery and half a dozen of donuts to go with it + their Vietnamese iced coffee. The ham and cheese croissant is not your typical, flaky texture but it was AMAZING nonetheless. I get the hype for it now! The ham and cheese filling was generous and very delicious. The donuts are also good but typical. The biggest letdown was their iced coffee which arrived to us watery and bland. It also looked darker than most places do it... probably lacking both milk and condensed milk. Overall I would definitely come back for their savory croissants.

Abby G.

Yelp
This is my go-to donut shop! The staff is fun and friendly, and because I am a regular, (always ordering multiple dozens at a time), they also banter and joke around with me! I love the vibe and friendliness, and all the mouths my donuts feed always enjoy them! Great place, great people, and great food!

Yelp
The best donuts you'll ever taste... been going there for 20+ years now... a must try..... you won't be disappointed
google avatar

Yelp
Yum! Donuts here are delicious - very big and soft. Lots to choose from in this large and brightly decorated stored and fast, friendly service.

Yelp
They have an amazing selection of donuts and, surprisingly, tasty sandwiches. Never had a bad donut or sandwich. I only docked it a star because the service can be a bit annoying when ordering sandwiches. One time, I was ordering four sandwiches that would cost $30+. I started giving the lady my order and then she gives me a piece of paper to write it down because one guy had just walked through the door. A little annoyed that I was there and had to wait five minutes because of other people in front of me, I wrote down the names of the sandwiches. And I motioned for her to come over. She looks at it and says, "You didn't say what bread you want," and then takes off again to help another person who came in after me. I write down the bread, she comes back and she says, "We don't have that bread right now." And as she was about to take off again, I got frustrated and in a loud voice but not quite yelling yet, I said, "Wait a second! Quit taking off! I've been here for 15 minutes now and how am I supposed to know what bread you have if you keep walking away." At this point she started getting snippy with me but I insisted she walk me through my order which I don't think is at all ridiculous. And I pointed out, you know, I've already told you that I'm going to buy four sandwiches and a dozen donuts that is going to be around $50 and you're pissing me off by not fulfilling my order and helping three people that each bought one donut each for a total of $12. But she didn't change her attitude so I left with them being stuck with four half made sandwiches. I tried calling them the next day and I left a message but nobody ever called me back. I still go there because they have great donuts and sandwiches at a great price and because they're near my veterinarian but if she's the only one there, I leave.

Yelp
Donuts for days! Great service all the time! Can't go wrong with Vietnamese coffee too!!
google avatar

Laura J.

Yelp
I really like their red velvet donut. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was not too sweet. The donut itself was very dense but still fluffy and there is light cream on top. Their donut holes are also really good. Not too sweet and super light and fluffy in the inside.
google avatar

Lynzee H.

Yelp
This is an SD staple!! Pro tip-- try the breakfast combo. The service is great and they always remember you. Don't let the mom and pop vibe throw you off-- this is a gem. The donuts, sandwich's are all AMAZING. You also have to try the Vietnamese coffee while visiting. 10/10. Rose donuts cannot do any wrong. Last meal on earth would likely be from here.
google avatar

Kyle H.

Yelp
Ah yes, the classic donut shop. Come, view your tasty treats in the window and have them bag them. Super fun for kids who are used to their donuts coming in a bag. Oh you want an apple fritter that is bigger than your head? Absolutely. Pricing is on par. Service is very friendly.
google avatar

Annabel H.

Yelp
Overall: Great for a quick stop and wide variety of donut selections Donuts: The glazed donut was delicious, they were pillowy, perfectly glazed, and honestly bigger than a lot of other shops. The only thought I had was that the glazed donuts were just a tiny bit on the oily side, but nothing that was hard to stomach. Service: the shop is open very early, I went around 6am and there was a wonderful selection. The lady that helped me out was very nice and they offer warming up for the donuts. Parking: Parking is super easy in the plaza lot.
google avatar

Brenn L.

Yelp
Very good donuts! My husband continues to buy donuts and although I don't need them, they are delicious!
google avatar

Denice P.

Yelp
When I got to the place, there was a line outside the door and I thought that I was going take awhile but NOPE! They were fast. Order after order, I was able to go in and get out in less than 10 min. They had a big selection of sandwiches and donuts that it was definitely hard to choose. In the end I decided on deluxe croissant and a blueberry donut. The donut was really good. The croissant was good as well but comparing to other places I've been to, I give the croissant a 3/5 rating. The croissant wasn't as flaky and bacon was burnt. Parking is a bit small and limited if your are coming during busy hours but i went mid morning on a weekday and it was fine. Overall I would come here again, especially for their donuts.
google avatar

Samantha W.

Yelp
Popped in another night and they had blueberry cake donuts left! This is what my husband was wanting to try the last time we came but they were sold out. It was very very good. He loved the old fashioned. The last time we had it, it was kind of stale. But was great this time. The crumb raised donut was delicious as well. Airy, light, soft, moist. Delicious.
google avatar

Candy S.

Yelp
Family owned donut shop! Great hours! Little patio No restrooms It can get busy, just be patient and enjoy the aroma of the food and give you more time to decide what you like to order. Parking is a nightmare, tight spots... do yourself a favor, just park across the street or down a bit further and walk. All in all, watch where you are going and be a courteous driver. There is a plentiful variety and absolutely delicious! Now we're locals and for sure a great spot for the college area, and spot for tourists to enjoy a family community loved donut shop. We love the iced Vietnamese coffee if you need a total pick me up last all day coffee fuel. Sandwiches and crossiants made to order, tastes just like you would make it at home but better! Food always tastes better when mom or dad makes it. We've been coming here about 20 plus years now..... yikes!! Where did the time go?? We've grown up and now we bring our babies here. So it's a great shop we just love! Prices are fair, and food is all made and cranked in the shop. Orange juice, milk, chocolate milk, coffee even thrifts ice cream! They are a great one stop breakfast snack shop. Give the love and support family owned businesses. Xoxoxo

Yelp
I always do my best to support mom and pop shops and I will definitely come back to Rose Donuts. Parking is sparse and tight so good luck when you arrive. I knew I was at the right spot when I saw a long line but the lines moves very quickly! I was quickly enamored by the blueberry cake donuts and the variety of donuts. I opted for the blueberry cake and the old fashioned. Then I started smelling the breakfast sandwiches and told myself "It's time to treat myself" and ordered the ham, cheese and egg croissant sandwich. I loved that the workers all had personal conversations with the customers which is so sweet I see. They love to know their customers and you get the warm sense of family. The donuts were amazing and I definitely will come back for a dozen for myself.
google avatar

William B.

Yelp
A cute little store located close to University of San Diego and Ballast Point Brewing. They are open from 4:30 am until 10 pm! When I arrived at 7:30 am there was a line out the door that took 10-15 minutes to get through, so prepare because from what I heard this is very common in the mornings. The employees move quickly and are very courteous and helpful. I got a half dozen donuts and the quality was outstanding. The maple glaze on my old fashioned was thick, but still creamy enough to bite through and saturate my entire pallet. The donuts come in a classic pink box and they taste very fresh. Absolutely come try this place out.
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
Get the breakfast combo! Croissant egg sandwich with a donut and a drink coming to a total of around 10 dollar. Me happy with food in belly.
google avatar

Gabrielle S.

Yelp
Delicious donuts and more! So many options to choose from. Very nice workers. Very patient my first time there. Extremely clear pricing, clean interior! I can't wait to go back soon!
google avatar

Jordan B.

Yelp
This is a cute little donut shop in Linda Vista. I was craving some donuts and coffee badly and Yelp told me THIS was the spot to go to. They're open late, which is a plus for me because I love a late-night donut run. The staff was super friendly, and the donuts were superb (I got a box of assorted best sellers). I also love me a good sweet and strong Vietnamese coffee, and this place delivered! I bought the rest of the donuts back for my coworkers and they loved them as well. Tbh I was impressed by how fresh the donuts stayed even after a few days. All in all, I can see why Rose Donuts is a San Diego fave!
google avatar

Jackie C.

Yelp
Omgggg YES! Been searching for a donut shop like this! 10/10 so many yummy options & most of the filled donuts are with custard- SCORE!!
google avatar

Wendy G.

Yelp
As a lifelong Krispy Kreme fan, I've never needed donuts from anywhere else (besides the occasional Dunkin cruller when waiting around at the airport). Today a friend surprised me with a delivery of assorted pastries from Rose, so this was the perfect excuse to try something new. I was impressed by the selection of 4 pastries, not all of which were donuts--there was a chocolate croissant, a coconut encrusted roll, a strawberry glazed and a creme filled chocolate covered donut. The croissant was satisfying though, as expected, closer in texture to a donut than a traditional croissant. The strawberry glazed donut had a rich frosting with a realistic strawberry flavor and not too dense texture. The roll was a bit too dense for my liking but I appreciated the coconut/brown sugar topping. Though it cant compare to my one true donut love, Rose Donuts is a solid local option for those seeking a tasty pastry smorgasbord.
google avatar

Golnar T.

Yelp
Kind & happy staff! The best bagels and breakfast sandwiches around. Rose is a San Diego staple.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Stopped in around 10am on a Monday. I've enjoyed a variety of donuts from Roses before but this was my first time coming in myself. This area boasts some heavy hitters. We got breakfast sandwiches. They were pretty good. I liked that the bacon was perfectly crispy and the everything bagel didn't have any fennel! We each got a coffee (latte and americano) they were extremely strong! I think next time it'll be a Vietnamese coffee time. But we really came for the donuts. I got the blueberry cake with icing and my partner got the raspberry jelly filled. He said the dough was perfectly cloudy light and the jelly was raspberry forward that was sweet but nothing overwhelming. My Blueberry cake was great but the icing pushed it over the edge to overly sweet. I should've stuck to the icing free offering!
google avatar

Arzoo H.

Yelp
Best donuts ever. Everything was yummy and freshly made. Loved their apple donut it was my favorite
google avatar

Julia L.

Yelp
The line was insane because the donuts are just THAT GOOD. We have come here in the evening and they were still absolute delicious. Probably the best donuts I have ever had. The staff is so incredibly friendly and welcoming. They also have a large selection on various coffee based beverages.
google avatar

Natalie W.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite donut spot in San Diego!! Their Vietnamese coffee is one of the best. They also have great breakfast sandwiches if donuts aren't your thing.
google avatar

Aidan M.

Yelp
Everything about this place is awesome, it's the perfect trifecta of quality, service, and pricing. I used to go to Dunkin' Donuts for my donut and breakfast needs, and I used to think they were pretty alright, but Rose Donuts puts them to shame in every aspect, while the breakfast sandwiches are roughly the same price, you get about double of actual breakfast sandwich with much better ingredients that taste like they were made instead of reheated and donuts that have been baked, not defrosted. Rose Donuts is an anchor in this neighborhood, incredibly reliable with unbelievably generous hours.
google avatar

Dulce R.

Yelp
Can see why this place has such good reviews. Customer service is an A++ and they get customers in-and-out and a quick but friendly fashion. This donut shop is located in the Ford Trolley Plaza off of busy Moreno boulevard in Linda Vista. Almost all the parking spots are 20 minutes limit to make sure that customers are in-and-out, The shop is next to a few other restaurants and a liquor store. Pricing, as with everything, is going up. The pricing on the Yelp is a little outdated as it looks like the prices have increased about a dollar to $2 per item depending on the item. However the Apple fritter has been one of the best that I've tasted in San Diego so far. I decided to get a Vietnamese coffee instead of a normal latte. I was pleasantly surprised it is very strong and flavourful. Highly recommend. I was able to see interactions with consistent customers, one had asked about what I chose.. i told him the Apple fritter. The lady informed me that he comes in every single day just to get an Orange juice looks at the donuts but never buys one. It had me thinking it must take some real strength to walk into a donut shop get a drink and not a donut! Will be back. They had a bacon donut (too much for me personally but did look appetizing!) As I was driving away I noticed that they have a patio right outside with 3 or 4 tables.. A good addition to grabbing a cup of Joe and a donut to sit and relax. There is no seating inside and they are still practicing social distancing for their employees and customers.

Yelp
I wish I could give 10 stars. I really love Rose Donuts! I've been going frequently since I moved back here a couple years ago. I started going because my mom told me that my grandparents used to have a hot dog shop in this same store, decades ago. The service is always so friendly, and they always remember my breakfast sandwich order, even if it's been a long time since my last visit here. When I bring these to work my coworkers love them (maple, glazed cinnamon roll have been the winners in taste tests). My mom's favorite is a chocolate old fashioned, and when she just visited she repeatedly said it is the best old fashioned she has ever had. In fact we went back 3 times in the span of 5 days because my parents liked it so much, haha. Even at 4:30 on the way to the airport, they're open. Great location, so friendly, and so delicious. When I first started going here I was a little shocked by the line, wondering if it was worth the wait. The line moves quickly, and it's definitely worth the wait!

Yelp
Friendly and quick service at this neighborhood donut shop. They have an extensive menu of breakfast sandwiches- in bread, croissants, and bagels. Very good value and donuts are fresh and not too oily/heavy.
google avatar

Bella O.

Yelp
Everything about Rose Donuts is 5/5. Staff here are truly kind, it's the type of place where they remember everyone's name. I've had the donuts, sandwiches, and Vietnamese coffee on multiple occasions and it's always delicious. Best classic donuts in San Diego. Still waiting for them to sell their t-shirts because I want one!!
google avatar

Paul C.

Yelp
Really great mom and pop donut shop that has been a part of the San Diego community. They have donuts, sandwiches, Vietnamese coffee and more.
google avatar

Shirley O.

Yelp
Donuts bring happiness. I picked up a dozen on my way to work and my co-workers were delighted to start the day with a sweet treat. I kept it simple and stuck with plain glazed, sugar and chocolate glazed donuts. The donuts were large, fluffy and well received. Service was friendly and the two women behind the counter did a nice job of getting to everyone in line. The place was clean and like any typical donut shop. The red velvet donut was tempting, but I refrained and made a mental note to return for that.
google avatar

Georgia R.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places in San Diego. Everything here from the sandwiches, donuts, coffee, to the ice cream is delicious! Everyone that works here is friendly and remembers you once you have been in a few times. My favorite food to get here is the Country Croissant (bacon, egg, and cheese in a croissant) and their chocolate danish. SOOOOOO GOOOOOD. If you're looking for crazy delicious donuts and breakfast sandwiches, this is the place for you!
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
Delicious donuts and bagel breakfast sandwiches--for a steal. I was very impressed by my first visit to Rose Donuts. My breakfast sandwich was tasty with the bacon crisped to perfection and plenty of cheese. The glazed donut was also delicious and fresh. We're located within a couple minutes' walk of Rose, so I'm sure we'll be regulars here. I highly recommend checking out this local shop.
google avatar

Derek I.

Yelp
I was at a nearby conference and my cousin told me that she loves these donuts, so I popped in and picked up a half dozen for them (maple bars and chocolate glazed) and a deluxe croissant breakfast sandwich for me. The donuts are large and priced fairly. My sandwich was HUGE - a flaky toasted croissant packed with ham, bacon and egg. It's no frills, just a great donut shop. You know it's good when there's over a dozen folks waiting or sitting inside.
google avatar

Susan R.

Yelp
We ordered a couple of donuts, an apple fritter, and a breakfast sandwich. The donuts were fresh and delicious. The apple fritter was good, however, we would have preferred more apple pieces in it. The breakfast croissant sandwich was delicious.
google avatar

Regine A.

Yelp
4 out of 5 stars for incredible prices, delicious food & friendly staff! Rose donuts is a small & quaint donut shop here to make your taste buds happy. I came here just before lunch time & the donuts tasted fresh! My personal favorite are chocolate bars. Don't @ me. My fiancé loves Apple fritters & the Apple fritters here are huge! There's so much to choose from. If you're not in the mood for donuts, say less - there's another menu with breakfast sandwiches for CHEAP. A egg, turkey, cheese & bacon sandwich will cost you $4. Make it a meal (comes with a drink and donut) for $5/$6!!! You cannot beat these prices. Parking is a little rough because it's in a small plaza. But trust me, it's worth it!
google avatar

Tosin A.

Yelp
It was a pretty good donut. I'd recommend people going out and trying it. It's rating is well deserved.
