Seattle’s Restaurant and Bar Closures, 2024 - Eater Seattle

"On December 4, the owners of pop-up hub Rose Temple Bar posted on Instagram that they had decided to sell in February to their friends, who will be renaming it Wash Bar. “When you hear about bars, closing, you always think of a relationship that was broken or something that failed,” owners Ben Smith and Austin Polley wrote. “But we’re really fortunate that we’ve had so much community support and that we got to help our friends live out their dream.” The pair still owns Donna’s, which opened earlier this year." - Meg van Huygen

Where To Get Eggnog In Seattle - Seattle - The Infatuation

"This great new bar on Capitol Hill that we usually love for glittered Jell-O shots released a three-month-aged eggnog spiked with whiskey, rum, fernet, and cognac. It costs $20 for a liter, and you can stop by during their to-go pop-up on Friday, December 11th to grab yours." - Aimee Rizzo

Rose Temple Review - Capitol Hill - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Rose Temple is one of those fun hangout spots that has a drink for everyone. There’s a guava-strawberry vodka shooter involving edible glitter and a gummy shark, trash can cocktails, alcoholic slushies, and, of course, cans of Rainier. What makes this place feel even more fun is the jungle-meets-Clue-mansion decor—only instead of figuring out “whodunit” in the study with the candlestick, you’re sitting around downing daiquiri shots. Pile your friends in a booth among the bookcases and chandeliers, and order some cheesy waffle fries or pastrami-spiced fried brussels sprouts with your drinks." - Aimee Rizzo

Google
Fun little bar to get appetizers and drinks! We went for happy hour and I was very pleased with it. The service was good no complaints, you just order at the bar. They have weekly events which is a bonus too if you live in the neighborhood. It was your typical bar food and it was good. I'd be back for happy hour!

Went for brunch with my friends on a Sunday and it was a blast! We made reservations and made sure to be there when they opened. Bartenders, servers, cooks and the DJ were all amazing and excellent at their jobs! The place is small and you get taken care of well! Food was tasty and sure tasted like it was made with lots of love <3 The drinks were great too my table and I ordered 5 bottles of champagne definitely a boozy brunch! The DJs mix was so good too I added some songs to my playlist and after all of those mimosas we were up dancing with the whole restaurant! Great time for sure will return!!

Google
This is such a fun bar in cap hill! On weekdays it's the perfect spot for happy hour and they also host events like trivia. They always have great music playing as well as delicious drinks. We came for brunch on Sunday morning and it was PACKED. I don't think they take reservations so it's worth it to get there early since the place is small and fills up quick. We tried a bunch of the cocktails which were very fun and tasty. We also ordered food which took over an hour to come out. I'm glad I tried it but I don't think it was worth waiting that long. They also offer bottomless mimosas for $28 Very limited parking in this area, you'll probably end up having to pay for a spot in one of the lots if you can't find street parking.

This bar is uh-mazing!! I love the service, very creative drinks, and a nice vibe. The bartenders are super nice and they're open to experiment. Really appreciate this local business. They’ve 4 for $10 Jell-O shots, and daily specials! Music has been pretty good, but depends on the bartenders.

Google
What a fun experience! Tried for the first time, during happy hour. Very large portions on the happy hour menu. My first poutine dish and. I really liked it. What really stood out was the genuinely friendly service and the bartender. Our bartender was friendly, patient (it busy but not out control) and a teacher. He gave me a quick lesson on a variation on a Manhattan, ordered it and loved it. Wish I took more pictures. Another reason to return! I recommend this place for sure. Great meet up location off light rail, happy staff and overall positive vibe. Make sure to check out the back room - great spot for a true rendezvous!

Drinks were unique and delicious! First time I've ever had a trash can! We were told by the locals that this is the best bar in Seattle! Super loved the jello shots with the edible glitter 😍

Google
Great vibes in this cocktail bar! Amazing slushy drinks on tap as well as some very tasty and original cocktails. The bartenders are super attentive and will accommodate as much as they can. Highly recommend the white trash can or the Jell-O shots!

This place was perfect for a post-workday a happy hour. Welcoming and kind staff. The meatloaf press was absolutely delicious. Try the RT Daquiri for sure.

Yelp
I was really really excited to visit this spot. I saw they were closing permanently at the end of the month on instagram so I hustled over to try it this weekend before that. I was really disappointed though mostly because of the service but also the drink quality. Basically we ordered one special drink from the board and the house espresso martini. The bartender didn't hear my partner when he said the name of the drink, which fine because it's loud and crowded. But then he scolded my partner for not saying the full name of the drink. Which he did say. I've never been told "You need to say the full name of the drink when you order every time." That pretty much killed our thoughts of any other drinks that night. Regardless of not hearing us, there was no reason to be rude and scold a customer, even if he had only said part of the name (and pointed to the board where it was listed). The drinks were just fine. Not great. Not terrible. Not memorable. But the interaction with the bartender was very memorable in a negative way and that was a bummer. I know this probably doesn't matter much because they're closing, but I probably wouldn't go back even if they weren't. I wish I had had a better experience.

Yelp
A fun, eclectic bar tucked into the heart of Cap Hill and right off the Link station-- they have a lot going on here from trivia to chess club and more. They have seating inside and a small outdoor patio too -- they leave the big windows open in the summer to let in a breeze. It's a fun vibe inside but the music is honestly really loud if you're trying to have a conversation with anyone. Their happy hour pricing is a little inconsistent to what's listed online and half the people in my group were charged something different despite all ordering B2B. I got a slushy and it was honestly delicious. I'd maybe come back to try out the food or at another time!

Yelp
I will update this review after I give this place a more proper visit. I came here with friends that wanted to get a few more drinks before heading back. This was an interesting venue with unique decor. I wasn't sure exactly what it was supposed to be. Near the entrance, there was a box of condoms and right after I entered the place, I initially thought that it was a Hawaiian theme but it wasn't lol. But yeah, lots of cocktail options, draft beer, well drinks, and some non-alcoholic beverages. Service was quick and nice. No complaints.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance. Visited this place for happy hour and got their special cocktail with fries/queso. Everything was delicious..! Highly recommend their happy hour deals!!

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday night at 9:15pm for a couple drinks. Rose Temple is really close to the light rail station which makes it very convenient to stop by. Because it was just myself I was seated at a table tucked away in the very back away from everyone else. Other tables had a server take their orders but because no one could see me I went up to the bar to order. My first drink was the rory ($11) which is very cinnamon-y and spicy. It's like a slight riff on the old fashioned. My second drink was the kelley ($11) which was very tart from the kumquat infused bourbon and the lemon. Their drinks were just okay but the prices were really affordable given the price of cocktails in other bars in the area. They also have jello shots (4 for $10) which sound great for a night out with a group of people. For cocktails I thought the drinks were just average and nothing special.

Yelp
This review is a little overdue (brunch 1/30/22)... but Sunday service at Rose Temple did not disappoint! We came for the $25 BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS but got so much more. The drag show, the sparkly Jell-O shots, the amazing staff and fun decor. I could go on for days. We got burritos & (eggs) bennys, too many Jell-O shots to count, and went through seven-ish bottles of bubbles in four hours. We'll be back for drag brunch again, and plan to return for dinner or evening bar service soon. TL;DR - Drag Brunch last Sunday of the month; Bottomless Mimosas; good vibes

Yelp
Nothing could be finer than this adorable hip little spot just hiding a block off Broadway. With super affordable drinks and rotating snacks by super great popups, I can't imagine why it took me so damn long to get in here. The staff are stars, the drinks are delicious and the vibe is just perfect to feel like a true VIP

Yelp
Busy Sunday night, very dark but nice bar side experience. Workers could loosen the attitude a bit, but all in all alright.

Yelp
Found this bar randomly while walking in Capitol hill and it's a good place for drinks and casual food. Drinks were definitely better than the food, I got a cocktail made with vodka and Thai ice tea, to my surprise it was actually good, enjoyed my drink! Not many food options, just a drinks place
google avatar

Yelp
Cool, simple dive bar in Capitol Hill. I came here last time with some friends to hang out on a rainy evening. We ordered some drinks and jell-o shots, and the bartender was friendly and welcoming. I had the "White Trash" drink, which had an upside down White Claw in it. The bartender described it as a "ticking time bomb," and said that due to gravity, if I don't finish it fast enough, it'll soon overflow. Added a fun level of pressure to the evening, especially since I'm definitely one to nurse my drinks!

Yelp
My goal of scoping out every bottomless brunch in Seattle brings us to Rose Temple on a Sunday afternoon. Their website is a little sneak. Nothing mentioned about the bottomless brunch or phone number. But I did all the dirty digging for y'all and sent a good old fashioned email. Bottomless brunch every Sunday from 12-4! You're also probably here because you saw the viral TikTok - the last Sunday of the month they do a drag show! We got there about 1:30PM, they said it would be about an hour wait, which turned into a 30 minute wait. The inside is strictly poppin. The DJ was playing the cuts and booty was indeed shaking. The crowd was very greek row, but the music and my company made it a whole vibe. We obviously had to get the bottomless mimosas. They have a heavy juice selection: POG, cran, orange, grapefruit and pineapple. They give you like 2 drops of juice per bottle so make it count. I'll have to dock a star for the fact they ran out of champagne, but luckily we were pretty lit. For food we shared poutine, the breakfast sandwich, and the chicken biscuit. Y'all I would say eat before because we waited a whole hour for the small portions. I was too drunk to care but it was honestly ridiculous. Located right next to the Capitol Hill link station. Indoor seating available. Have your vax card on deck!

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of this place, probably my fav bar at the moment. The prices are reasonable and it's clean with ample seating. The bar food is excellent and most of the drinks are pretty good. I thought about their waffle fries for days afterward. Only complaint is they used to have a Thai tea drink that isn't on the menu anymore--bring it back!

Yelp
Great drinks (and an inventive cocktail menu), friendly service, and a casual yet hip and funky ambience. Happy hour prices are stellar. A great experience all around!

Yelp
This might just be one of the best bars I've visited till date. The instant you walk in the vibe is so chill and different (in a good way). We sat in the back room and the red lighting and all the decor was so cool. The service was also really nice and we got the Michelle Cocktail and the Guava Island Shooter. The michelle cocktail was recommended to us and it was so tasty! It got pretty crowded for a Monday night since it was trivia night but overall love this bar and super cool spot!

Yelp
The food was amazing. Go on a day when there is lumpia and get your LIFE! Also the rib special was incredibly delicious. The bartender was super sweet and made our drinks with the right amount of flare. While in general the music is great, it has a bar ambiance with loud music and a cute vibe.

Yelp
Rose Temple is a really swanky redo of a previously swanky spot, minus sandwiches (I'm still mourning the loss of By the Pound. Where do I get a decent deli sandwich now??). Lots of the interior (wall paint, table tops, layout) is left from that bar, which I think was a good call; it worked, and still does. They tiki-fied it a bit with some palm leaf wallpaper and Filipino decor that my friend recognized as legit. The bartender was super friendly, which I always appreciate. There seem to be no shortage of trendy cocktail bars with snobby staff. The menu is straightforward and again leans tiki. I was tempted by their garbage can drinks (truly scary mixes of just about anything under the sun) but opted instead for some whiskey-based house cocktail. My friend did the same. Both of us didn't even feel them (-1 star for weak drinks!) and ended up down the street at Nacho Boracho for shots after. I'd probably be back for a date. That back room is very sexy, and I'm a sucker for a bar with couches. But I wouldn't be upset at a heavier pour next time!

Yelp
This place was packed but we were able to score a table in the back! Such a funky cool bar! Very creative and unique cocktails! Dark and mysterious inside, so fun! The bartenders were very friendly and personable!

Yelp
Oh man, what a great new spot on the hill. Just off Broadway, close to the light rail and just North enough to not be in the shit on the weekends, here's a new go-to for sure. They've got boozy slushees, fun jell-o shots and a really creative cocktail list where each one if named after one of the owners' grandmas or moms...adorable. They've got fun 2-for's, too - check out the cocktail menu photo I uploaded. My group of 3 went for happy hour and got: The Alma - vodka, lychee, lime (INCREDIBLE) The Erma - gin and cucumber juice (Gin isn't my thing, but my friend swore by this drink) The Delores - smoked serrano (!!!) tequila, mango and lime - (this had so much going on in a good way - so good I got 2) The vibe is cool - you've got big windows, a projector showing old movies, or old football games up on the wall and nice tables in the front for 2-4 people and then a good-looking, dark bar with booths further back. Beyond that, they retained a bit of the "speakeasy" vibe - pull back the library wall to a back room - dark and cozy. Super cool. We didn't get to try the food, but I uploaded a photo of the menu. I hope this places sticks around, it's a great addition to the hill.

Yelp
Another gem in Cap Hill. I loved the vibe. They have good lights, good music, good food and amazing cocktails to give you a perfect weekend evening. I will go back here again and again. Try out their chicken wings, I loved it.

Yelp
I work in Seattle, I live in Seattle. I'm tired of the dive-bar vibes with no inspiration, or customer service that is the bare-minimum. Rose Temple has familiar comfort's--iconic cocktails, curated vibes (from F-O-H and B-O-H. The staff that anticipates desires, and more importantly.. delivers intention). There are days that will dictate curated vibes... so do your homework. Saba--Rhys--Davis: y'all have made my experience. Met the Co-Owner / Owner (the most down-to-earth King I've met in a while. Rose Temple is my place to decompress--if it's busy, I skip. Most of the time, the vibe is always--ALWAYS makes it about me.

Yelp
I went here for birthday drinks on a Friday night in summer. They had the big windows open so it was nice sitting inside. It's a cute little place perfect for some light food and cocktail drinks. They even had Jell-O shots and a blue Shark shot - perfect for Shark Week! Service was really friendly and was easy to get drinks and start a tab. They also had a secret speakeasy room hidden behind a bookcase where they had pink lighting and king and queen chairs. It was fun to sit in there but it got a bit warm after awhile as there were no windows inside. I really liked the booths across the bar with the huge bookcase wall. I like it when bars like these have different sitting areas you can choose. I would come here again if I was in Capitol Hill.

Yelp
Quick service. 21+ only. Order at the bar. Not a ton of seating but great ambiance. Dark and great for date night or girls night. Had the French fries too and the aioli that came with it was delicious!
google avatar

Jasmine C.

Yelp
My friends and I wanted to go to a chill bar on our first night here. We found this place on Yelp. Decided to check it out. They do close early at 12am due to covid. The drinks here are cheap! They also have Jell-O shots. Just wish the drinks were stronger. This is a cool place to hangout and talk to friends. Also dick's burger is around the corner if you have drunchies.
google avatar

Ikaika C.

Yelp
Was roaming the streets and came across this place and I must say I'm glad I found it! Felt safe and socially distanced by others in the bar. Employees wearing masks as well as other guests so definitely following the CDC guidelines. Drinks were amazing as I made it for happy hour. I had the slushy and specialty cocktail of the day. Can't remember what they were as the flavors change. But definitely refreshing and nice vibe to it. The best part I enjoyed was the bathroom. It was clean, modern and had a vibe!
google avatar

Brett H.

Yelp
Sweet atmosphere and service! Lots of other patrons were getting invictious wings. Great happy hour and fun drinks!
google avatar

Yelp
Rose Temple is a nice new bar in Capitol Hill. It has a very friendly atmosphere. They do not have a ton of beer on tap, but a good selection. I was really pleased with the food. I started with the Brussels sprouts and the fried rice. Both were cooked really well. The Brussels sprouts were nice and crispy. The fried rice was particularly dark and full of flavor. I was kind of full, but decide to try one of the street tacos. This was really good with just the right amount of spice. For bar food, the menu is odd, but I thought everything was delicious and I will be back to have more of the tacos.
google avatar

Yelp
10/10, loved the experience and the bartenders. Came on a Saturday around 8:30 and there was a slight wait time but they offered seating in patio area before coming in. White trash were my favorite and they have 4 for $10 Jell-O shots!
google avatar

Jinny C.

Yelp
Good place to grab drinks! Enjoyed their happy hour (4-6pm daily) with a friend who ordered their cocktail special and fries while I had the watermelon slushy. Overall, cool atmosphere with friendly service. The upstairs seems currently closed. Clean bathrooms inside. Proof of vaccination needed.
google avatar

Jayelle ..

Yelp
Besides food being great and drinks are as strong as I like them, customer service can be better. Waited a while to get checked in and when getting drinks at the bar, the bartender girl didn't ask if I wanted any drinks when I've been standing there for a while but instead asked if I got my ID checked. Like how do you think I got in?
google avatar

Mike V.

Yelp
Some great service, and some great food. The music selection was.... impeccable??? Still trying to figure out how to explain how great is was.
google avatar

Natalie W.

Yelp
The staff is super friendly and the interior is nice. The drinks are subpar at best and the food is not that great. The grilled cheese is the best thing on the menu and actually very tasty. The chicken tenders are a hard pass (tell me how a place managed to have horrible chicken tenders). They have Jell-O shots, which were good! They had glitter on the top which was a nice touch! This wasn't really my scene but I don't think it was a horrible place.
google avatar

Jennifer K.

Yelp
Amazing drinks, ambiance and GLITTER JELLO SHOTS! Tried several drinks here like their cocktails (Dorothy was an amazing one with guava and ginger beer), trashcan (upside down can of wine inside a drink), the shooters, and jello shots. The ambiance was so much fun and they were also playing good music. I was there on a Sunday night so it was pretty slow crowd wise, but it was still a lot of fun grabbing drinks.

Brian S.

Yelp
Terrible place. Chef/owner Sean advocates his employees spitting in food of patrons that they feel don't tip enough.
google avatar

Jeremy E.

Yelp
I've been going to Rose Temple since July of 2019 and it's remained one of my favorite bars on Capitol Hill. They have great signature drinks, good food, awesome music, and fantastic atmosphere! They play movies on a projector and they're frys are dank. Would definitely recommen!

Matthew C.

Yelp
Very disappointed in customer service by management! I attended Rose Temples Sunday bottomless mimosas with a small group of friends. After an amazing time I then closed out my tab ($154 dollars / which included tip) with the bartender. After several minutes later the manager approached me and stated she would need to see my credit card again as they forgot to include the group gratuity to my bill ($30). After asking two questions so that I could better understand, she then made the comment "well if you'd like to ever come back, you won't make this an issue". #1: This management style does not understand the term customer service and responsibility. #2: As I understand the bartender made a mistake and did not include group gratuity, but to make comments like this to customers after a mistake on the establishment's fault. I find this very unprofessional. After the comments made by the management team and the fear of not being able to come, other individuals stepped in and paid the mistake made by the employees. I enjoyed the music, drinks and ambience. I do not recommend the customer service!!!
google avatar

Gene D.

Yelp
This is my Seattle staycation spot. So welcoming and the drinks save me the effort from heading to Kauai. Not that Rose Temple is Hawaiian but I can relax here and enjoy just the same way . . . They are coming right along with menu development and you should try it all. You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Evan M.

Yelp
A shop with a quirky interior (such as this one) can be hit or miss, but RT nails it: unique cocktails, a lot of variety, and food that is way better than its bar pedigree would have you believe. This place truly feels as if it is the dive bar at the end of the universe, and if you're trying to have a fun night out, it doesn't get much better than that.
google avatar

Tuan N.

Yelp
Nothing but good things to say about Rose Temple. The music was good, bartenders quick and friendly, drinks were tasty, and vibe was lively without being jammed packed. We had some of their cocktails, like the Alma, and Kelley and Roach Clip. All were unique enough to warrant a revisit. Shots were a decent pour and reasonably priced. Our group had great time and we will be back.
google avatar

Anya B.

Yelp
Rose Temple is a great place for a quiet drink with one other person or a small group. The inside is uniquely decorated and dim, and the tables feel cozy. The service was friendly and the drinks were fun and reasonably priced. I ordered the Suzy, a hot bourbon and apple spice drink, that was perfect for the cold weather. We sat and talked for a few hours and enjoyed the quieter--but still fun--atmosphere of the bar.
google avatar

Reeya P.

Yelp
You should visit for Happy Hour or arrives 30-40 before happy hour ends. This place gets packed by the evenings and rightfully so. If you're looking for something quiet and intimate, this may not be the place as the music is a little loud, but it does add to the atmosphere! I tried to go at 9pm once and was told there could be a 40-45 minute wait, so I recommend going earlier if you can.
google avatar

Gab S.

Yelp
Came here last night for a few drinks and was absolutely appalled by the bartenders actions and in professionalism. He had the audacity to come up to my friend and call her out on not leaving a tip on a couple drinks. Two of which were already premade (boozy slush) and 4 Jell-O shots. He came up to us while we were drinking and said "everything ok? You didn't leave a tip. Do you just not tip anyone when you go anywhere?" At first his voice seemed sincere but he became more aggressive as he continued to talk. My friend stated she didn't realize it was mandatory and he replied with "it's the common sense thing to do to tip your bartenders/waiters." His demeanor became more hostile and he began to make us all really uncomfortable. I proceeded to tell him he was being extremely rude and he just continued to say that his tips are his livelihood. It's one thing to be offended that someone didn't tip you but to come up and confront them about it? Wow. Totally ruined the mood and will not be returning.
google avatar

Saachi G.

Yelp
Awesome place! Don't really want to share that it exists :P The best alcoholic slushies I've had and they've got a great deal on Jell-O shots. Cool wall art, plenty of seating, friendly staff, and a bookcase that opens to more hidden seating. Super chill, casual place for drinks. Would definitely return!
google avatar

Brittany S.

Yelp
Rose Temple had a great vibe and would be perfect for a date or catchup with a few friends. They have creative cocktails made with fresh ingredients like cucumber or lychee or smoked serrano. They also have "elevated" takes on classic dive bar drinks like trashcans and Jell-O shots. There's three fun distinct spaces, the front is light and airy with a ton of greenery, the middle has booths with a bookshelf packed with gems (the fish's name is "lil boozy") and the back room behind the bookshelf door has a darker sexy vibe. A cute fun fact too- the cocktails are all named after the owners' moms and grandmas.
google avatar

Sebastian T.

Yelp
This little cocktail bar has a dive bar/neighborhood bar type of laid back and casual feel. Their cocktails are thoughtfully planned and so as the food! Its slightly unusual but appealing! They have a happy hour deal, but it wasnt anything crazy, but it's better than nothing! If you're looking for a casual cocktail and some bar food, I'd recommend coming here! For the pricing, I'd definitely come back to try the other offerings and this would make an ideal spot to hop between bars on a night out!

Vanessa L.

Yelp
Such a fun spot! The vibe and decor are top notch. The drinks are balanced and delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
A gem of an institution. They turned a traditionally cursed space into a stunning magical date/industry/magic carpet ride with rotating delicious cocktails, a glorious staff, rotating food, fun weekend specials and killer merch. Swipe right on your tinder and show that new babe a sexy time over Jell-O shots, sexy atmosphere and a general bad ass time.

Yelp
Will keep this short & sweet. My friends and I went barhopping one night and this was one of our stops! We loved the vibes, the drinks were priced well, and it was a nice atmosphere. I'd definitely recommend adding this bar to your list to check out. I did take off two stars just because I was overcharged. I disputed it & won. No bad vibes from me, but just wanted to let y'all on Yelp know. Could've been a simple mistake. But 4 Jell-O shots do not cost $40...
