The Best Montreal Brunches for Your Mother’s Day Plans | Eater Montreal

"Even vegan mums can splash out for Mother’s Day. This St-Laurent café is offering a $70 vegan or $85 non-vegan brunch for two ($130 or $150, respectively, for four). The vegan menu features red curry tofu spread wth croutons; celery root and cucumber remoulade; mushroom and spinach quiche; and grilled asparagus salad with mint and vegan feta. The non-vegan version adds smoked salmon mousse, snow crab salad with cucumber, and a duck and fig quiche. But the $45 half bottle of Champagne pairs well with either version. And while the the cafe/bar’s famous Chartreuse-doused baked Alaska won’t be available, the wild blueberry and raspberry gelée that comes with either Mother’s Day menu is a much easier feat for takeout and delivery."

The Best New Cafés in Montreal (Spring 2020) | Eater Montreal

"With a cozy vintage feel, Le Roseline is coffee shop by day and neighbourhood buvette by night. Those looking to eat may want to stick around after 5 p.m. — while the daytime menu of coffee shop standards alongside charcuterie and cheese checks the right boxes, chef Alex Collyer’s French-Italian menu of small plates shines bright." - Tim Forster

A Look Into Le Roseline, the Vintage Café-Bar That Opened on St-Laurent Boulevard in the Plateau Last Week | Eater Montreal

"A plush, candle-lit café-by-day-slash-wine-bar-by-night, Le Roseline is the brainchild of owner Jean-Marc Renaud and chef Alex Collyer and opened last Friday on the corner of St-Joseph Street. Renaud, a cinematic art director and Plateau native making his first real foray into food, modeled the 1,900-square-foot space on the salon double architectural style found in many Plateau and Mile End apartments: two dining rooms separated by soft grey curtains, vintage Quebec-sourced furniture (including lamps recovered from Quebec City’s Château Frontenac), exposed brick, crown-molding accents, a floor-to-ceiling wine shelf, plush leather and velvet couches atop a geometric-tiled floor, and low-hung spherical chandeliers and table lamps that give the space a warm, '30s-inspired cocoon while light jazz plays into the evening. Collyer’s menu leans on revisited classics and comfort food—pot-au-feu, clam orecchiette, and beef tartare for evening diners, with lighter all-hours offerings like croissants, toasted bagels with cretons, and the soup of the day by day—and desserts such as chocolate mousse and omelette norvégienne (Baked Alaska). The venue offers caffeinated drinks by day and colourful wines and classic cocktails (negroni, old-fashioned, amaretto sour) by night; the majority of the wine list was curated by actor Martin Laroche and is mostly natural or privately imported from France. Early service has been successful, and Renaud plans to open a terrasse facing Lahaie Park once temperatures climb." - Audrey Carleton

It was trendy restaurant with a calm , vibing atmosphere. The tables are small but fit perfectly in the environment. They have a piano bar that’s not overly loud and fits well into the atmosphere. The menu has great selections and the staff are extremely professional. They know all the details and ingredients of the food and drinks being served. Food is of high quality with fresh ingredients. Great place for dinner or drinks after work and some great appetizers. As well they had a good selection of seating options. Including comfortable couches making it easy to chill

We arrived on a Thursday night which offered us a calm experience with our amazing waiter. As you can see from the pictures we ordered half the menu. I was not the biggest fan of my drink, the Aviator I think, it was a bit soap-y because of its floral accent, so I wouldn't recommend it if you're susceptible to that like me xD The food was delicious, highlights for me were the cauliflowers, the lamb pasta and the poutine. In fact, that poutine was so enjoyable, if I ever had a poutine craving one day, I KNOW I will be coming here to satisfy it. Nice thick gravy and crunchy fries, all the while remaining a light dish. We really enjoyed ourselves. Notes - the music volume was inconsistent (sometimes too loud from song to song. Great playlist though.) -we didn't sit far from the bathroom and a few of us noticed an unpleasant odour once in a while... maybe sit at the front to avoid this if you can

The food was fantastic—we came specifically for the dollar oyster special, and it didn’t disappoint. While it took a bit of time for the oysters to arrive, we didn’t mind at all since we could see them being freshly shucked right next to us, which added to the experience. One aspect that felt a little off was the wine service. When we asked about a wine we were considering, we expected to taste it before committing, as is common practice at many restaurants. Instead, the server simply described the wine and didn’t offer a sample until we insisted a second time. Even then, the response was hesitant, asking, “Are you sure you want to try it?” This made us feel uncomfortable, as tasting before choosing is typically encouraged when ordering wine. Aside from that, everything else was wonderful. The food was delicious, and though there was a small error on the bill, it was promptly corrected when we brought it to their attention.

I had been wanting to go to Roseline for a few months but the timing was off. They were either not yet open (too early) or it was an afterthought. Finally my sister and I had a chance to go and we weren’t at all disappointed. In fact it’s even more eclectic and smooth like a delicious cocktail. Everything about this bar - speakeasy - resto is top notch. But the ambiance is really the icing on the cake. Sublime. We enjoyed a bottle of wine and the tartare entree which was delectable. I always like to keep these places I love a secret but I am sure it is going to be one of these spots in Montreal that will keep its doors open a very very long time. The owner Jean-Marc was welcoming and gracious and spent some time speaking with us at our table. Our waiter Vincent was also full of positive energy. Dynamic. Old world jazzy 1940s feel. Just my kinda vibe.

Fine, refined food and presentation! Absolutely delicious! Warm and professional service. Magnificient decor, made even more enjoyable with live piano. My first, but definitely not my last visit.

Google
Cozy restaurant and bar with a nice selection of wines. The oysters were fresh and deliciously paired with their Italian sparkling wine. The ambiance of the place was intimate and comfortable. The music was not too loud and we enjoyed the evening. However, our experience was slightly unpleasant as one of the staff members (probably more senior) kept reprimanding another staff member who seems to be in training/new to the place. We did not notice any mistake or inappropriate behaviour when the “trainee” served us, but we kept overhearing the senior staff criticize him from behind the bar, which made us uneasy.

Wonderful service and very attentive team to their guests. Beautiful interior designing. I'm grateful for the team's service when I went to celebrate my friend's birthday last night- thank you, Vincent! The carrot cake and halloumi salad were amazing. Thank you for a pleasant experience!

Went for the oyster special and had a great time. The oysters are a little small, but they are briny, fresh, and only $1. Also tried the ceviche which was delicious. Service was a little slow but there were only two servers/bartenders working so it’s understandable. They were very apologetic and even threw in a couple extra oysters for the wait. The restaurant decor is lovely. It’s elegant and elevated yet approachable. I’ll definitely be back.

Yelp
This is a great restaurant and wine bar. The staff is courteous, and the food is great. Good for singles or groups.

Yelp
Competent and prompt service throughout. "To Share" in lieu of "Appetizers" offers a wide array of dishes of which we were only able to sample one, fried Brussels sprouts in anchovy sauce with anchovies on the side -- a delicious way to complement a Gimlet Sour, chosen from an extensive listing of cocktails. For a main course I had a well-prepared and generously sized lamb shank on polenta with a bit of crisp leek on top -- outstanding. My wife, a vegetarian, had roasted cauliflower with tahini sauce which she praised highly, and finished the meal with a generous portion of carrot cake while I ended with an espresso. Both of us accompanied the entree with Canadian wines, one white (from Quebec) and one red (from Ontario). The wines matched all other aspects of the meals in terms of their superb quality. The competent service with impeccable timing and exemplary individual attention ought to be recognized as the critical element making a wonderful dinner into a truly memorable experience.

Yelp
Found this spot strolling down the street walking towards the metro. Was a beautiful day and we sort of just liked the look of this place. Someone on yelp said this was their favorite wine bar in the city so we gave that thesis a test. Solid wine list and the bartender/waiter really knew his wine. Sat in the sun and enjoyed a glass of orange wine; my wife had a recommended rose and made for a lovely afternoon. The inside looks absolutely stunning, but we were apt to sit in the sun and people watch.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! Read about it and decided to check it out and immediately fell in Love as soon as I walk in the place. The decor is so cozy and warm...the brick walls, the leather sofas and small tables make this place absolutely lovely. There is a great Selection of wine (they even have orange wines) and the food menu has a bit of everything is you want to just munch. The only bad thing is that you absolutely need to order food if you are consuming alcohol as they don't have their liquor license which is a bit counter intuitive since it is a wine bar by night (coffee shop during the day). The tables are also very close to each other so you can definitely hear the conversation of your neighbors so might not be the best place if you are on a first date. But all in all love it and would definitely even back.

Yelp
Great new AM - Cafe PM - Wine place around the corner from my place. Since we saw it open I have been looking for the opportunity to try it out. I have only done the AM thing for now and it was a nice quiet place to have a coffee and work. The place is very nice and looks like an even better place for a glass of wine. I'll be back. Enjoy!

Yelp
Le Roseline - Montreal. Super cute bar. The cafe is not too good though, but will definitely come back to try the bar.
