Based on other reviews, I really wanted to like this place, but it definitely fell short for me.
We stopped in at 8am on a Sunday morning, zero cars in the parking lot. I questioned if they were even open. Walking inside, we were immediately greeted and able to pick our own seat, as no one else was in the restaurant. The original table we chose was really sticky, so we selected another. There was some syrup on the floor, but, other than those things, the place seemed really clean! (I did stop in the restroom and it was also clean/smelled nice. I dont remember seeing a changing table though.)
I understand being environmentally friendly/it's hip to have a QR code, but my mom is old as the hills and would have preferred an old fashioned, paper menu. She didn't being her phone inside either, so we had to share mine.
We ordered 2 breakfast platters-- mine came with French toast, meat of your choice (I chose bacon), eggs, and grits or potatoes (I got the potatoes.) This place has booster seats and high chairs... but no children's menu? At least I didn't see one online. We ordered my daughter a fried chicken breast, which she seemed to enjoy. Not gonna lie, my food was pretty lack luster. The eggs were decent, but cold on top-- which really surprised me because there we were the only people there. The French toast was also just warm and, surprisingly, really dense. I ended up not even eating the crusts and cutting out the middle. The bacon was good, but how can you mess up bacon? The potatoes definitely needed more seasoning. They were really plain. I did enjoy the bits of pepper that were chopped up with them, but I had to throw a bunch of salt, pepper, and ketchup on everything. My mom got the same thing as me, minus the French toast. The only redeeming factor for me was the coffee and I just drank it black. My mom got a hot, black tea, which she enjoyed.
We spent $40 on just okay food-- I almost forgot to mention that they automatically charge you 20% gratuity for dine in and 18% on takeout! I think that's absolutely ridiculous, as their pricing is already on the higher side-- it was $14.99 for my meal and I could get more food at IHOP for that.
2 stars for the food and 1 extra star for being pretty clean and polite/friendly staff.
Since I have family in the area, I might consider giving it another try, maybe they just had a bad day. This restaurant reminded me a lot of Thumbs Up in Douglasville, but I would honestly choose driving all the way there before going to Rosie's again. Sorry
